Love this location! The ambiance cannot be beat - the name accurately describes the building. I guess it was an old factory, very cool, very open, industrial, beautiful brick and beams. Now the food - holy cow it was delicious. And I was impressed by the coffee too, it was really good! Avocado Toast with potatoes - 5 out of 5 stars = my over easy eggs were cooked to perfection. I mean perfection. The avocado was fresh and plentiful on the delicious sourdough bread, which held up. There was some kind of cole slaw/radishes on top that were pefect addition - very tasty. And the breakfast potatoes - I am not a fan of this style, but these were so darn good, perfectly seasoned and cooked, they were absolutely amazing. Eggs Benedict - hubby said it was awesome, English muffins held up and the eggs were perfect, delicious hollandaise. Eggs and Bacon = really tasty bacon, but not my son's cup of tea - he is not the maple/applewood smoked kinda guy, he likes his bacon plain, but I found it delicious, more for mom. Like everywhere, you can tell they are understaffed and have to hustle. I do not envy the service industry these days, expectations to do more with less and deal with rude tourists and entitled people. Boris, our server was awesome - very kind, we sat for a bit as he tended to other tables, but I could sit in that restaurant and stare all day long, it is that cool. We arrived a little after 9:00 a.m., and the restaurant was already full. There was a line for a table, which was understandable, and fortunately the wait to be seated wasn't terribly long. Unfortunately, that's where the experience started to go downhill. Once we were seated, we were told they didn't have any half-and-half for coffee, although whole milk was available. We then waited over 30 minutes just to place our order, and eventually had to ask someone to come take it. The restaurant was clearly busy, but it also seemed very understaffed. I ordered eggs, sausage, potatoes, and sourdough toast. The eggs were good, the potatoes were fine, but the toast didn't come with jelly. I also had to refill my own coffee several times, and I noticed other customers doing the same. Overall, breakfast took close to two hours from the time we arrived, including the initial wait for a table. That's a very long time for breakfast, especially with two toddlers. My wife ordered yogurt, which was served on a very hot plate, apparently just washed, and the yogurt itself was warm. Luckily, my son's yogurt was not. My other son ordered pancakes, but after waiting so long, we ended up giving him chips from the convenience store at the front desk because he was understandably losing patience. There were also a couple of spills at our table--one from my son and one involving coffee. We were given tiny 2-by-2-inch beverage napkins to clean them up ourselves. I certainly understand that spills happen, especially with toddlers, and we weren't expecting someone to clean up every little mess. However, in other restaurants, I've had staff offer to help when something like this happens, so the lack of assistance stood out. The juice was also surprisingly expensive and came in very small glasses, more like old-fashioned cocktail glasses than what you'd expect for breakfast. To be fair, the food itself was mostly decent. The biggest problem was the service and the amount of time everything took. The staff seemed overwhelmed and understaffed, and unfortunately that made what should have been a relatively simple family breakfast into a nearly two-hour ordeal. Service is not fantastic, not friendly until they take your order which you may have to wait a bit before you even get a glass of water brought to you. The prices are of course high, high, high you are in CA specifically San Francisco. Most prices are high any where else if you want to walk, if you drive you may be able to find something cheaper. I ordered milk with my meal received it when we got our water also $9 the smallest glass of milk ever . If you're staying at the Hyatt and do not want to walk then go ahead . But dig deep into those pockets. So after the entire meal we only saw our waiter when he took our order, someone else brings your food. This is probably no way to open a Yelp review, but I'm not sure how I ended up in Fisherman's Wharf. It was after dark on a particularly rainy evening, but here I was feeling rather peckish and wondering what dining options there might be around 9PM. That was how I came upon this Hyatt-connected sports pub on Google Maps because I saw they didn't close until 10PM. When I entered, the bar was sparsely occupied with guys watching whatever sports were playing on four different screens (Photo 7). There were more people in the dining room, probably hotel guests, but I still found an empty table without fuss. Despite their marketing promise of a "unique dining experience ", the menu struck me as, well, typical bar grub. Nothing special (Photo 6). I decided to have the $20 Grass Fed Angus Burger on a Brioche Bun. It came with shredded lettuce, tomato, and a melted slice of provolone (Photo 3). It was pretty much paint-by-numbers. Not that persnickety at that late hour, I found the medium rare beef just good enough but nothing that memorable even with a generous pile of fries to tide me over my bus ride home (Photo 4). Located inside the Hyatt Centric Fisherman's Wharf San Francisco, there's a separate outside entrance to walk directly into the restaurant. THE DRUNK DRINKS. - Mango Margarita | Served on the rocks, this tropical and refreshing cocktail combines the sweet, juicy flavor of mangoes with the smooth bite of tequila. It's garnished with a lime wedge and salted rim. I'm a fan of this. THE VIBE. The vibe is chill, as the young people say. Exposed brick with a wooden slat ceiling and a mix of pendant, track, and wall lamp lighting fixtures throughout. The bar contains a wall of alcohol with back lighting for dramatic effect. Televisions are placed at the bar so one can watch sports and spot-like stuff. THE PARKING. Hotel parking or street parking. Not sure of pricing, but I can safely assume it's unreasonably high. The coating was nice and crunchy all the way to the last bite and the innards of the cod were flaky and moist. I ordered some clam chowder too and it was delicious. It was clam filled and creamy and a lot of clam chowders I've eaten were bad and tasted old, but this was fresh. The staff were nice and brought the food without being too rude. Brick and Bream is one of the two restaurants at the Hyatt Centric Fisherman's Wharf in San Francisco. After checking in to the hotel at 9:30 pm, I was told that the only places to eat would be this restaurant (which closed at 10 pm) or two fast food joints outside. And just so that we are not confused, the hotel or the restaurant is not by the water. Anyway, it has an entrance from the hotel as well as from the street. The decor, dine in seating and bar area, is minimalistic all round, but comfortable. The food menu has simple fare, but with choices to feed even the grumpy eater. I could not resist and therefore ordered, the fish and chips. This is one of my favorite eats and I have found that every place is so different and worth a try. When the item arrived it was piping hot and definitely, just out of the fryer. First the fries, they were amazing, thick and crisp, very tasty and thrilling with every one you put in your mouth. The 3 pieces of battered fish were crunchy, flaky, fresh and with body. No minced fish, no processed fish, no fish sticks, no fish rectangles. Just how it should be, fresh pieces of Cod that came with house made tartar sauce. This was amazing. Every bite was perfect and satisfying. Came here for a quick dinner to meet some people who are staying at the hotel. It was actually quite good for a hotel restaurant. Some elements of the food were really good but others were just missing something. Husband and I shared a Grilled Chicken Melt - really love the flavor combination going on there. Good chicken breast that was not too dry too dry, combined with the salty crispy bacon And avocado and pesto.. Love that combination! Asked for a side Caesar salad instead of fries. It was a good call. Quite a big potion size on that salad as well to be honest! Someone ordered the chicken Caesar salad on the table and it was about double the size of this one and look like a decent amount of food. Friend got the Grilled Chicken Melt with the fries and oh my gosh that was a lot of fries! Enough price for about three people I think! Side note: the fries were actually really nice and crispy! The name Brick & Beam is just what it is, all bricks on the outside and bricks & large beams on the inside, is kinda like a pub & grub with multipe TVs, with all type of sports on, a large bar area, there are happy hour drinks, small plates, plus a great beer selection. There service breakfast, lunch, and dinner here, the atmosphere is so casual, we stop here for a few night cap drinks, after spending a day on the "Rock" Alcatraz Island, the drinks were water down, you could barely taste the liquor, and tomato soup which was good, but unfortunately you will have to buy bread or crackers separately for the soup. read more

When she returned I asked for mustard for my Beyond Burger. She scolded us for asking for extra condiments in more than one request. While there, I tried the chowder in a bread bowl (delicious - but I wish the soup serving was larger), the caesar salad (not my fav), and a standard flatbread (good!). The ambience is ok, kind of a sports bar feel - they have a big TV on the wall (my husband watched Thursday night football), big booths, etc. The post-Covid menu is TINY. I ordered the poke, it was tasty. My daughter ordered the flat bread pizza, it looked good but also somewhat underwhelming for the price. The big thing is that the prices are HIGH. Given this place's current three and a half stars Yelp rating, we probably would have gone somewhere else, even though the restaurant is attached to the hotel where we're staying. But we got the hotel through a Costco bundle that includes a $50 per day hotel services voucher, and had a lot of the voucher left, so why not? It beat our expectations! I ordered the Caesar salad with salmon, and the tenders and fries, to go -- back to our room where we could relax and not worry about unmasked people who have forgotten that the pandemic isn't really over (and might never go away). First visit, not long before close, I wasn't watching the time closely because I was playing with my phone, but I didn't get all that much done so it couldn't have been long. Second visit, I watched the time: sat down at 7:20 pm, ordered around 7:25, and food ready (same order as the first visit) 7:35, and signing the check to the room at 7:38. That's pretty good. Service was polite and efficient, but not that cheerful. It looks like a pretty nice place to dine in, or to hang out in the bar, but we weren't in the mood. The prices in general are on the high side, but it's an expensive location and attached to a hotel, and the two things we ordered are reasonably priced. (There are some extra taxes and fees that aren't counted into the price, but that's apparently the way it works in San Francisco.) I think a four-star "Yay, I'm a fan" rating is fair, at least for my experience. read more

For some reason, San Francisco Restaurants still haven't figured out what restaurants in every corner of the world have. I had the "Clam Chowder in a bread bowl". $16.00. Skimpy portion of very watery chowder in a stale, microwaved bread bowl. How do I know this? The bread top, was longer then the bowl. And clearly, not cut out by the kitchen. No knife marks on the bread top. This item should NEVER have left the kitchen. Guess no one is paying attention. Nice Hyatt???
