We picked this place because of the great reviews and I am so glad we did. Everything we had was delicious, the service was great and the food came out quickly and HOT. This place is quite quirky with all of the random stuff everywhere, but has a fun vibe and cheerful atmosphere. The portion sizes were huge and the crab cakes did not disappoint. Horrible! From service to food. Best Crab Cakes??? Not at all, these were soggy and flavorless, with no lump crab that we could see. The Pontchartrain soft shell crab was also soggy and under fried. Soft shell crabs are to be chrispy and the top shell should be removed. I'm questioning if they actually clean the crabs. The Mahi on the other hand was overcooked and dry. The entire dish, even the Buerre Blanc sauce lacked of seasoning and flavor. Mashed potatoes were clunky. I ordered a Shock Top draft which was sour! Perhaps it wasn't Shock Top. Kids chicken tenders were also clunky and dry. The Smoked Tuna dip was edible at best and actually the best thing we had. The service was neglected. Drinks took awhile although the restaurant wasn't busy other then a large table of the owners family. Our server was busy taking photos of them while we had no napkins, or silverware. Man oh man, what a treat. Found this place after searching online for ceviche. While the ceviche was good (could have had more fish included), the main meals were outstanding. My wife and I split the blackened grouper that came with a square patty of fried grits. I overlooked this as being the side and was blown away how incredible it and the grouper tasted. My son loved the chicken manicotti and my daughter loved the crab cakes and said the mashed potatoes were the best ever. We finished off the meal with the chocolate thunder and called it a night. I honestly feel disappointed by yelp . I came because of the reviews and usually yelp doesn't let me down but it seems for this place it did. I was there with my family and I didn't enjoy the food. My Stuffed peppers made me kinda sick and they didn't have flavor and my mom didn't enjoy her fish. The crab cakes were very good I won't deny that. This place seems like it's more for happy hour and appetizers not a place to have dinner at. I wish I had known, this way I wouldn't have spent 80.00 bucks on something I didn't enjoy. Maybe others had different experiences which is fine I understand that , but ours wasn't that great. We visited tonight and had the pastalaya, cheese curds, coconut shrimp and 2 orders of kids chicken tenders. The food was good- especially the coconut shrimp and pasta! The kids loved the atmosphere and the live music. They offer a scavenger hunt which helps buy time when the food is really slow. Our drinks took a while (spicy margs) and were average yet pricey. The restaurant wasn't busy at all- no wait for a table of 4 on a Saturday at 8pm. The food was very slow to come out and our appetizers came out after the meal arrived. Service was okay (average at best) and oddly enough a 20% gratuity was included on our check...for a table of 4...on a slow night. We asked a table next to us if they had the same experience. They also had four people and gratuity added to the check. So, heads up- check your tab before you double tip when you don't have a large party. read more

Bric A Brac should be called Bait And Switch A sign at our hotel said they had live music tonight. We we are driving up a large sign states live music. As we walk up to the front door, a sandwich board sign again declares "Live Music." My wife said to me even before we open the door,"I don't hear any music." I reply "It says it here on the daily special board, maybe it's in a back room." We walk in, and as we stand looking around I realize you cannot hear any music at all. "Maybe they are on a break." I State to my wife as we are greeted. I ask the man about live music and he tells me they do not have music on Wednesday night. He goes in to say that they use to but quit some time ago. Well we do stay to eat an appetizer, and have the smoked yellow tuna and chips. The chips were over salted but the tuna was great. And a irritation of mine especially when a restaurant is not busy is not keeping my drink full. Well both mine and my wife's were allowed to run out. When we said we were done and not getting anything else we began waiting for the check. After over five minuets we finally left what should have been enough to cover the bill including taxes and a tip. Oh and no we were not there late at night near closing when the staff is wore out. This occurred at 8pm Again the tuna was good but not the chips (over salted) and don't be a big drinker or you will run out quickly and finally don't believe the signs Or advertisements the Live Music is only Friday and Saturday night (well that's what they claimed tonight) read more

Loved the atmosphere, has a ton of character with all of the things hanging on the walls a ceiling. I had the Pastalaya which is like a jambalaya with pasta, and I added shrimp for an extra 5 dollars. The portions were huge and I couldn't finish the dish there, had to box it up and take back to the condo. The dish was a little greasy at the restaurant, but the next day when i tried to eat it, there was way too much grease to enjoy. The dish was really trying to be good, but their recipe needs to be checked because there is way too much grease. I would definitely go back, just would try a different dish. read more

Eclectic decor, fun wait staff, enjoyable band playing. However the food was overpriced for what it was... as were the drinks. We enjoyed ourselves... but there are better options in the area. That said, their bottomless mimosa deal on sunday looks very good. One thing I must add, is their claim for "best crabcake in destin" is comical. It's a small breaded patty with what appeared to be minced crabmeat inside (not even lump). It honestly strikes me as something distributed by Sysco or a similar service. This place is absolutely amazing! We ordered the shrimp ceviche, crab cake, and calamari. The apps were amazing! Better than any restaurant recommended to us while we were here on vacation. We ordered the Playapasta which was incredible! Drinks were amazing! Lemon drop shot and cherry limeade are a must! To top it all off, we had the key lime cheesecake and it was thee best cheesecake we ever tried! This is definitely our no.1 when we come back! Family of 4 visited. Service was very good. There was live music that was very fun. We had the crab cake appetizer which was good but small. We ordered the Bric a Brac chicken which was excellent! Two ordered the manicotti which was very good but it was so piping hot when it was delivered (sauce literally boiling) that they had to wait so long for it to cool down enough to eat it that the other two were nearly done eating by the time they could enjoy their meal. It was very good, however. The last meal was the shrimp scampi and while the shrimp was very good, the noodles and sauce were just under seasoned and bland. Mom had ordered a salad as a side which she had mentioned was weirdly hot... and she chose to eat the Fish of the day special Mahi Mahi .. about 2 hrs later mom was up puking and having diarrhea. Quirky little place that is a hidden gem. We went at 5:30 just after they reopened on a Thursday. So much to see in the bar/restaurant. Like other review I read you expect bar food like burgers, wings, chicken planks. But the menu is extensive. I had the blackened grouper. It was outstanding. My wife had the crab cakes. They were delicious. My son had the fish and chips which are fried grouper fingers, and my other son had the grilled fish which was substituted cobia. Both were excellent. We tried the tuna dip. It had a smokey flavor and was good. I think at that moment I realized I'm just not a tuna dip fan. But if you like tuna dip you will love it. Prices were reasonable for Destin. This was by far the most fun we had at a restaurant or bar out of everywhere we went in Destin! And the great thing is that early in the evening it is family friendly, too. We didn't hit the upstairs, which I think is more of a club/party environment. The downstairs had a typical restaurant area, live music AND a DJ, a dance floor that was packed with people of all ages... Truly all ages from about 6 to 86 were out there dancing (good, light hearted dancing, not just grinding!)... It was hopping!! What a blast. And we may have just had a lucky night, but all of the staff we saw were absolutely gorgeous... A little eye candy for both men and women :) The food itself was great, portions were huge! I think there's a strong Latino influence to the food here as well, which is a big plus. You must try the mashed potatoes and the crab cakes- the favorites of our crowd. And WELCOME, Bric A Brac!! We came here on a Tuesday and the place was pretty busy. They didn't have an extensive menu, and the menu they had was written a large sheet of construction paper, kind of like a chalk board, that the server brought around to each table. They maybe had 8 items to choose from. I wisely went with the tuna salad. It was really good value, tons of tuna, and pretty tasty. The place had a piano, sort of reminded of me someone's grandma's house. And the walls were all decorated with a mishmash of ads and license plates and other paraphernalia. Went here for brunch with my fiancé yesterday after a morning of outlet shopping. First the good. The food is pretty tasty. She got the fish and chips and I had the Mahi Mahi sandwich. We also got a couple of beers. Now the bad. To call the service slow would be an understatment. It took a very long time to get our meal, as good as it was. Our server seemed more interested in the football game than in his tables. He passed our table several times not noticing the empty drinks in front of us. The decor is also very confusing.
