We love vacationing in Destin and always look for to new places to eat! So the in-laws took us to the Hilton because they always say they have real good food. I didn't know they had sushi so I took a peek because I was a little iffy about getting some it looked pretty fresh so I got some! We got The Volcano Roll first, it was our favorite. The fish was fresh and the Crab meat on top was the star of the show. It's Sweet & Spicy definitely a great bite. Next we had the Rainbow Roll I can say it was above average just your typical Rainbow Roll but still fresh and good. Lastly the Firecracker Roll I'm from Louisiana so I love spice and this what it gave me perfect amount of spice and a nice crunch tastes almost like an elevated rice crispy on top. The service, I can't really say about the Serivce because it was a hotel and it was so many people. The guy did the best he could I applaud him for sure! We ate here for breakfast on a Sunday so they may have been short-staffed, but there were only three servers that I could tell, and one busser clearing tables. There were more dirty tables in the dining area than clean ones. Only one chef making fresh omelets and waffles, so the line was long, and people were forming lines every which way. There were no signs telling you where the line began. The food on the buffet was supposed to be hot, but it was cold. The butter would not melt on my pancakes. I witnessed a waitress seat a couple and the gentleman was in a scooter. The waitress did not help move chairs out of the way so the man could wheel up to the table. Another patron and myself moved chairs. I thought the price of $32 was too high for what you got but you are limited to what is available if you don't want to leave the hotel. We found a food truck, Crave Coffee, located in the parking lot, that served the best coffee and açaí bowls. Save your money and try out the parking lot food. read more

The staff was very friendly, the restaurant was clean and looked fantastic. The ice cream was ok-- it definitely wasn't hersheys, or even bluebell. We ordered ice cream-- which was already expensive for what it is. We had tax, a "service charge", and 15% gratuity added to our bill. In all fairness, there is a sign stating "15% gratuity added to all to-go orders." To Sandcastles: Stop cheaping out. Pay your employees properly. Tipping is for service. While I do understand mandatory gratuity for large parties and under certain circumstances, a forced 15% tip for the 15 seconds it takes to swirl ice cream into a waffle cone will keep me from being a customer. Of course it's entirely possible that none of the staff will ever see any of that 15%. read more

You would be surprised to find a spot of this caliber in the Sandestin Hilton, but these folks are top notch. "Warm beer and bread reminds me of the menu at the Holiday Inn" , goes the lyrics of Jimmy Buffet's Cheeseburger in Paradise. The grouper sandwich here is out off sight good!! A large thick portion of grilled grouper on a brioche bun. Their house tarter sauce is not your father's tarter sauce at all. A delicious blend that compliments the sandwich to perfection. We had dinner here once during our 6-night stay at the Hilton. I had the chicken schnitzel sandy which was good and my wife had the snapper which she really enjoyed. Wish it came with risotto since the "crispy" potato cake was more like mashed potatoes, breaded, and lightly fried. It was alright, but not very crispy as advertised. Overall, a decent experience. While on vacation, We have been here 3 times so far. Each visit has been amazing. The staff has been amazing all three times. I started drinking espresso martinis and the spicy margarita. All my drinks were made correct and I enjoyed them. I've love the food choices I've made. Hamburger, salmon, sushi roll. We were there for a marriage retreat and got off the road hungry so we dipped in the restaurant in the lobby and grabbed a quick snack. Later we went back after our session we went back with friends. My neighbors and my husband and I ate here Easter Saturday for dinner. We went at 5 to avoid the crowds which worked out. My husband ate Sushi and liked it and our neighbors liked the wood oven pizza. There was pizza to share. I had the Grouper sandwich which was fresh and delicious but I've eaten the burger there before and it's equally good. I only take one star off for the service. We enjoyed several sushi rolls- all fresh and beautifully prepared- along with the Asian Trio (tempura shrimp, egg rolls, and potstickers). Truly enjoyed the Trio. It felt a bit pricey for run of the mill sushi ($71 for three rolls and the sampler dish), but it's a resort/hotel restaurant, so that's to be expected. We'd have the Trio again in a heartbeat- hubby felt like they were the best egg rolls ever... and that's saying something! read more

Buffet line, good quality food, and nice interior decor are high marks, but very poor service ultimately destroyed the experience here. I came here for breakfast because I'm staying in the hotel and decided to try eating on site. From the very first moment I walked in, we were off to a bad start. I was quickly whisked away with another family and sat at a table in an open corridor. The seating is cheap vinyl and cloth seats. I waited for about five minutes for a server before I asked one of the busboys for a server, after which one arrived. It was then that I was informed this is a buffet and not a restaurant. The food was delicious, but the selection was limited to six or seven main line items, yogurt and fruit, and pastries. My server didn't come around often, so I asked another server for orange juice, after which I saw him walk over to another table to take their drink order, give them orange juice, and forget completely about me. I waited for another five minutes for a third server to ask them for orange juice, after which my original server came around to deliver. When I was finished, I signaled to my server I was ready for the check, and the family seated next to me did the same. He got into conversation with them, asking if they had any vouchers they wanted to use, brought them their check, and completely forgot about me. As I wrote this review, it's been almost ten minutes. Still no check. No sight of my server either. The only saving grace of this establishment is the very limited good quality food. This is by far the most expensive, non-satisfying meal we have ever had. We waited 15 minutes to be seated and another 10 minutes before we saw a waitress. Finn was pleasant but overworked or simply bad at her job because we then waited 30 minutes for our drink order. We placed our order and waited another 30 minutes for our appetizer, which consisted of 6 tiny oysters for a very high price. Finally, we got our sandwiches and the tenderloin sandwich was not cooked to the medium rare as ordered, had no horseradish or any of the other condiments as stated in the menu. They onion rings were cold and flavorless and were only edible with the ketchup I had to ask for. My husband's pimento cheese BLT was tasty, but very messy. In all, we did not enjoy the meal or the ambiance. It was like it was swimming in the fat drippings from when it was cooked. Our family was grateful for the great service we received. We were tired and hungry after landing at the Hilton Resort and Spa and headed to the in- house restaurants. The menu looked great for all four us, so sat down and noticed how busy it was. I proceeded to watch in amazement as Emily deftly took care of group after group, seating, serving, bussing tables if need be , she ran circles around most of the other staff. She was pleasant every time and made sure to ask us at each course how everything was. Well the surf and turf filet and crab cake was delicious with the the tasty mash potatoes. I was thankful that the entree was good because the shrimp cocktail appetizer was disappointing, sad , not plentiful, watery and the accompanying sauce was not awesome. But, Emily was awesome and the desserts amazing: strawberry creme brûlée ( a new creme brulee every night) a pistachio strawberry tart, a brown butter peach compote and white chocolate cheesecake. We had the breakfast buffet here one morning while on vacation. We had recently stayed at the Omni in Dallas, who had an insane breakfast buffet, so our expectations were pretty high. Unfortunately we were disappointed in this entire experience. It took over 10 mins for someone to even acknowledge us and get our drink order, then all of the sodas were flat. I have no clue who our waiter was because we were never helped by the same person. The food selection is ok, but not worth the $18 per person price tag. We are Hilton Honors diamond members, and were shocked by the treatment we received by management. It began with management being completely overwhelmed and under prepared for the amount of guests waiting to be seated . Then, we were under the impression that our meal was complimentary due to our status, however it was not. The server was kind, and very quick to help when we asked to talk to management about the voucher. Staying at the Hilton, thought we would try the hotel coffee shop, Sandcastles. They had a decent burger, sushi was good. Service was slow. The desert was pitiful! We both got the butter cake with peaches and ice cream. It was so small we were shocked. The ice cream wasn't a full spoon full and the pound cake was less then 2" square. $31.50 for desert that wasn't worth a damn. Don't mind paying for good food, this was lacking. read more

DINNER: After a 4 hour drive, we thought it might be a good idea to have dinner at the resort. I wish we had gone out instead. I ordered a chicken sandwich with the expectation of having a chicken breast on a bun, but instead I got shredded chicken drenched in a terrible sauce that looked a bit like pulled pork/chicken sandwich. My husband got the BBQ chicken pizza (ordered from the lounge) and it too was just OK. The BBQ sauce was way to tangy to enjoy. He actually had to wipe the sauce off with a napkin. BREAKFAST: The morning buffet was definitely better than dinner although the cost was a bit expensive. The cost was not a problem as any hotel guest can attest to the price boosts at resorts.
