Our Destin trip was coming to a close. We stopped for lunch near our Airbnb check-in location. They were open relatively early, so we ventured inside. It was dark, like a bar, which made me notice the full bar in the dim light. Brunch drink specials were available but we opted out: it had been an alcohol packed weekend so I needed a break. Otherwise, $11.99 bottomless mimosas did sound pretty tempting. I ordered a crab cake sandwich, after much deliberation, per the server recommendation. I loved the crab cake: moist and crabby. Our server talked us into getting all three desserts that he recommended: the key lime pie, the strawberry shortcake and the bread pudding. I love bread pudding so I couldn't resist. My friend claimed the key lime pie wasn't tart enough for her, which is true, but I preferred it that way; I usually don't enjoy key lime pie when it's too tart. The bread pudding was sweet and chewy, almost overly so. My friend who ordered the shortcake claims it was the best of the three desserts. The meal was a bittersweet end to our beach trip. Awesome! Bric a Brac gets 5 stars in taste, portion size, & service. We came in 45 mins before closing & treated us like family. We have been here several times in the few years we have lived here. It is a hidden gem! It is so colorful and fun inside. At night they have bands and dancing. Not sure what it's like earlier. I ordered the crab cakes every time I've come here and they really are the best in Destin. Whenever I order crab cakes I usually think, good, but mine are better; except for when I order them here. Best crab cakes around! Lots of establishments have crab cakes but not like this - quality is key - squeeze in lemon for optimum tastiness. Best waiters in town! You have to check it yourself - if you have "pipes" or not, Thursday Karaoke night is a JOY. However due to COVID, karaoke is suspended. Keep checking. read more

This is a very cool place. When they say Bric a Brac they are the kings. After an hour of relaxing with food and drinks (food came very fast) I was still finding things on the walls and ceiling I had yet to see. Staff was very friendly. Vacationing in Destin, some friends and family decided to drop in on a local favorite. If you have ever been to Red Bar you know the Decor and feel of this place. Owned by the same family, they carried the eclectic design up the beach into Destin. Just plain fun! There was a group of 8 of us so we decided to use the shotgun method and order just about everything on the appetizer menu to start off. Smoked Tuna dip, Calamari, Chicken Wings, and the Crab Cake. The smoked tuna dip comes with a nice portion of smoked yellow fin tuna topped with diced tomatoes and a side of chips. Creamy with perfect smoke flavored; you cannot go wrong with it! It was absolutely amazing! The Crab Cake was crispy, light, loaded with lump crab meat which left me craving more. The portion size of it was the only negative I could find, but that's how it is with all crab cakes, anywhere you go. Lump crab is just so dang expensive. The calamari was different from any I had ever had. Rings the size of onion rings! Seeing how large they were I completely expected them to be tough, but that wasn't the case at all. They were crispy and extremely tender. I feel like they oil they were fried in may have been on its last leg as the flavor was a little burnt (though they weren't at all) that was distracting, but it didn't stop us from fighting over them! The wings were fantastic! Spicy, crispy and juicy. Served with a side of ranch and celery, they were a huge hit! For the entree I had the stuffed bell peppers which were good, but the other dishes around the table topped them. Manicotti was fantastic! Penne Chicken was the bomb, my wife's fried Grouper was good, but suffered from the same thing as the calamari in the oils flavor being a little off. I think we caught they frier on a bad night. I could tell both these dishes could have been so much better. My personal take away....get the smoked tuna dip no matter what. If you are with someone get the manicotti and the penne Chicken and share. You will leave full, and incredibly happy! read more

We kinda stumbled across this place as it wasn't on the main drag. Have to say that out of all the places we ate at on our vacation, this is one we would go back to first. The decor inside was really fun adding to the atmosphere. It really is a hidden gem type of place and very unique. My wife had the ceviche and I had the jambalaya. One of my daughters had the pasta and another had the shrimp. Really, really, really loved the food. Everything was SO well done and served quickly. They don't have a ton of stuff on the menu compared to some other places, but I got the impression that the items they do serve, they do them well. Family of 4 with an appetizer (we all drink water) came to just a little over $60. This spot was good for us as a family, but my wife and I both agreed that it would be a fun date night to go sit at the bar as well. Service was spot on. The wife and I ate at the Bric a Brac twice during our recent stay in Destin, and left the trip with mixed feelings about this restaurant. The 1st visit the meals we had were 5 plus, and their salsa was one of the best in house ones I had ever had. The 2nd visit, our meal was good, but not great, the margarita was just ok, and the salsa was way to hot, and I like my salsa pretty hot! So, how did I rate Bric a Brac? The food gets a 4, the facility gets a 4, the service gets a 5 and the value gets a 4. I rate our experiences a solid 4. Will we go back on our next visit? Yes we will! Excellent! My wife had the Bric A Brac chicken and she adored it. The mashed potatoes were superb and the sautéed zucchini and squash veggies were cooked perfectly. For desert I had the strawberry shortcake cheesecake! Fantastic. My wife had the key lime pie and it was superb also. There was a musician playing background jazz on an electric base violin and it was very enjoyable. This place is kid friendly and we loved the happy voices of children there. Great job! read more

THE BEST SUNDAY BRUNCH I've had while on vacation. The presence of this restaurant is beyond FUNKY!!! I was blown away with the diversity of so many knick knacks. The decor of the restroom was so UNIQUE... I loved it. Our waitress Diana or Donna (I honestly can't remember) have SPECTACULAR service, recommendations and conversation. I didn't wanna leave because the conversion was so intriguing. We tried the crab cakes, eggs with potatoes and shrimp and grits. THERE AREN'T ANY WORDS to express how delighted our taste buds were with every bite. Not to mention I washed it all down with a double mimosa for $5.00!!! I reallllly wanted to like this joint, as it's the sister restaurant of The Red Bar, in Grayton Beach- which is an amazing place. Unlike the Red Bar, we just didn't feel the hype At 6:30, the place was dead. This shoulda' been a sign, but we remained optimistic, and snagged two barstools. We weren't ravenous, so we split the crab cake dinner, as this is supposedly what they're know for? "Best crab cakes 5 years running," the bartender spouted off. Before our entree arrived, a lady sat down at the bar next to us, and she mentioned, in a quiet manner, to her Bumble date, that the crab cakes are "mediocre" at best. Indeed, they were. They tasted burnt, and not fresh, at all. In addition to the disappointing crab cakes, we ordered fried shrimp, to wash down the bad taste, because...you know, fried food is awfully difficult to screw up. The fried shrimp, and fries were the highlight of our meal. Good bar service, good fried food, but disappointing crab cakes. Not sure I'd return. read more

Bad attitudes and food is overpriced for its quality. It's more of a nightclub. Too many other choices around here.

This place is within walking distance to the condo we rent in Destin every year so we were hoping that it would be a good adult getaway to take a break from the kids. But it wasn't. It's like a Chuck E. Cheese's in there with more kids than adults. The night we went was karaoke night and it was pretty much all teenagers and younger. The decor looks like a TGIF threw up in an Applebee's. Over the top flair. That's not such a big deal though and there are plenty of good dive bars out there with tons of junk on the walls, it just feels sort of contrived in this place. To be fair, it is, after all, a restaurant-bar in a very popular spring break resort town and the folks in there with kids did seem like they were having a great time. We didn't eat there, but the food we saw coming out (pizza, burgers, etc.) looked fine and everyone appeared happy with it. We probably would have been too if we were looking to be packed into a tight space surrounded by a horde of prepubescent screaming teens and children, but we already had that back at the condo. We were hoping to escape it for a minute. I don't know what this place is like when it isn't spring break. Maybe it's more of a grown-up place then. So the bottom line is this: if it's spring break and you're looking for a family friendly establishment then this place fits the bill. If you are an adult looking for some down time away from the under 21 crowd you need to keep looking. read more

The clam and shrimp chowder, homemade, was as good as it gets. The grouper which was blackened with a mashed potato croquette and spinach was a very nice dish. The bread pudding with caramel sauce was very nice fitting to a fun meal. Rudy was full of energy and knows the restaurant business. I've eaten at every restaurant in Destin numerous times.
