I'm in disbelief…read more... I have a pre-drilled 75 Gal aquarium tank and was in a bit of a bind with my API Filstar XP canister filter which had a bad impeller and the water flow was poor. While looking for a replacement part, I found out that this filter was discontinued and replacement parts are scarce to non-existent.  I purchased a Fluval Canister filter but found out that it was not compatible with the existing plumbing.  Facing the propects of having to do a replumb, and not knowing where to start, and what parts I would need, I decided to google search for companies that could perform this service.   I called MK Aquarium and Kevin answered.  He took the time to understand my issue.  What I really appreciated about Kevin is that he decided that I could save money by doing the work myself AND he would be willing to walk me through how to do it.  Candidly, I was shocked and touched by this act of kindness from a business owner. Kevin was on the phone with me, answered all my messages and I was able to get it done.  My tank is up and running with no issues so far. I did have one fish start to get fin rot once but once I let John know, he scheduled a visit to do a significant water change and tested the water. A week later and the fish was all better (which rarely happens from my experience!) John sincerely cares about what he does and will always go the extra mile. Honestly its like friend coming over to help out when I see him. He has a high level of integrity and always does what he says. As someone who only works with freshwater, it's really exciting to have a local store instead of supporting big chains like petco and petsmart. I also wanted to include that they have a few nano tank setups on display with some cute shrimp and some guppies! They have just about the same inventory as a chain store that you would buy from, if anything, more than that! However, your employees need proper training on how to respond to an injury with urgency, compassion, and clear communication so customers feel reassured and supported. Your manager appeared unsure of what to do until I raised my concern about taking my dog to the vet. Being handed a single cotton ball and asked to provide an update while my dog was bleeding did not make me feel that the situation was being taken seriously. That is why I described the handling of this incident as unprofessional. I appreciate the reimbursement, but I also need you to acknowledge the distress this caused and explain how you will prepare your staff to handle situations like this in the future.
