    Chris the owner is so knowledgeable. Kudos to this young man for being so helpful. It is very refreshing to have someone know their stuff. I purchased a new canister a couple of fish some plants and I am very happy with my purchase, will definitely be coming back down the hill to Chris for other fish. And a FYI they restock on Sundays . Hopefully they get a pretty blue glow in soon

    This place is absolutely amazing! I was personally debating if I should go for freshwater crabs, shrimps or pea puffers. I eventually ended up with freshwater crab due to the low maintenance. Chris goes above and beyond when it comes to recommendations and provided a lot of information, especially for a beginner like me, on how to take care of my Freshwater Crab. I bought the whole setup ranging from a frameless tank to filters to vegetation in the tank. Chris is very active on Instagram! So be sure to follow his IG for any store updates and new fish stocks. He also answers questions during off hours! Incredibly sweet guy! Will definitely come back and I'd highly recommend supporting his business! It can get busy some time, so be sure to have patience :)! He'll definitely get back to you :)! This location is super easy to find and abundant parking spots

    So maybe 14-16 hours ago I walked in and purchased a Pearl Gourami, within 12 hours the fish was dead so I ran to check my water parameters and everything was ok, and temperature was at 76 degrees. I called in and they said unfortunately there is no warranty, and this is actually the second gourami i purchased from them that didn't make it. A few weeks prior I purchased a honey gourami which passed away maybe 3-4 days after. Now after seeing other reviews here and in Google coming to this place wasn't the smartest. Yesterday I was trying to get a Bristlenose as well and while the owners son as going thru decor almost every aquarium had multiple dead fish on the bottom so look around when you walk in. Customer service was there! I will say the owner, his son and employee was very personable! That being said quality of fish be careful as I've never lost fish within a day, two from the same location is kind of bothersome. If you're willing to drive abit more hop on the 10 and drive to Montclair to Jan's Tropical Fish! Check them out I left them a positive review, they helped me cycle my aquarium, and slowly add fish, the last two cobra guppies I purchased there contracted saddleback disease a week later and I took them back, lady was so polite and took them for store credit, and showed me how to treat my aquarium and haven't had an incident since. Check them for quality. It's abit more, example at fish world neon tears are 2.99 and Jan's are 3.99. The pearl gourami I purchased was 15.99 and I've seen it at Jane for 17.99. But you get quality and pace of mind knowing if the fish pass within days you can get store credit. So just my personal experiences I've had shopping at fish world, fish don't last long.

    If you don't want to read this novel, I will sum it up here: GO TO FISH WORLD. GREAT SELECTION. GREAT PEOPLE. SOLID 10/10 FRESHWATER FISH. It's fish stores LIKE THIS that get you into the hobby of fish keeping, and keep you in the hobby. If you're debating on stopping by this fish store, just do it. Make it first on your list. The employees are very knowledgeable and passionate about fish. A very kid friendly, family oriented atmosphere too. Stop by to show your 5 year old a giant pleco and puffer fish, or come alone to stock your tanks. Chris (the owner) is an honest guy, always eager to answer questions. He definitely makes you feel like there are no stupid questions. Expect to get a four part answer to any equipment/setup question you ask; the most expensive option, middle of the road option, the budget/diy option, and Chris's personal perspective given the pros and cons of each. If you're new to the hobby, this goes a long way. It's easy to spend a lot of money in this hobby, but given the affordable prices on quality fish/equipment here and the priceless knowledge Chris gives out for free, it's a great place to start. I'm in no way affiliated with fish world, I'm just appreciative of smaller businesses like this and the hard work I've seen every time I visit. Chris and his crew are always busy at work but make time for each and every customer. I selfishly want to keep this place to myself, but a fish store this great deserves waaaay more recognition

    First time buyer. All the fishes look healthy and happy. The workers seem very knowledgeable and welcoming and answered all my questions. I purchased two different types of angel fishes and they seemed very happy with my other fishes.

    Got here at 11:30 since online hours says opens at 11. Hours displayed on door say open at 12:00 It's 12:20 seen a few customers stop by as well. still waiting for it to open, going to give it a few minutes if not I'll come again another day Update: quick response for owner advised just running a bit late today :)

    20 neans I bought was all dead in a week. None of my others died. They gave me a bad diseasesed fish. No refund. $65 wasted. Bad customer.

It was quiet, empty besides one person, and slightly intimidating. I ended up walking away with 3 shubunkin goldfish. I originally came in for one, but he chuckled and explained that they had a deal on goldfish. He had so much patience and understanding. He let me pick out my fish (but to the naked eye, I'm sure they all look the same). I took my time picking out the ones with the best physical traits. He was the fishing ninja! He scooped them up swiftly and quickly! He walked me around the store and showed me snails and other goldfish he had, before ringing me up. He explained me the tank process and the benefits of snails. He explained to me the different filters and what was the most suitable for my tank. He also asked how I acclimate my fish, then explained the proper way to do so. Honestly, I needed more support and explanations than the average customer, and I was a bit taken aback by the guy in the store. I realized that it's just completely his demeanor, and he wasn't trying to be unhelpful. If you're willing to care for his fish, he will explain and help you! I told him I'd be back for some more snails. My picture is my fish about 6 weeks later. :)

    I was shortchanged…read more I spoke with nolan that I would like to order 6 cory habrosas for pick up the next day (today) and 5 CPDs. He says he will send me the invoice to pay over the internet. I told him i would pick up from San Diego (more than 100 miles of driving each way!!!) I did not pay yet and asked to change my CPDs to 3 otos. I told him i would like 6 habrosas, at least. When i drove up to santa ana (the next day), with an invoice of 6 habrosas there were only 4 in stock. I understand that Corys prefer larger groups. Had it been disclosed ahead of time that there were only 4 corys, i would not have driven up from SD to Santa ana and the INVOICE SHOULD HAVE BEEN CANCELLED BY THE SELLER If there is not enough stock. There were not even enough otos as i requested. -This wastes my 3 hours of round trip driving (100+ miles) and gas to be short changed. ----------------- -i will have to report this to the BBB as well. -after speaking directly with Nolan, i will wait for his business to rectify this situation before i take additional actions. --------------- Edit on 12/2 after seller's response below: 1. 85 miles or 100 is an approximate. It is a trivial point given that it is a long distance drive from sd to santa ana. The crux of the matter is that you sold me 4 cories when you knew ahead of time i wanted 6. I acknowledge you are closed on Wednesday. You had employees in the shop anyway on Wednesday--they said they had to come in anyway to feed the fish for the long weekend whether i came or not. 2. The invoice i received is an automated email invoice. I can email it to you like. It has 6 cories written on it, not 4. And to your reply i am not looking for other cories, iam looking for the habrosas. 3. You knew i was there to pick up six (that is why the invoice that you personally emailed me stated 6 habrosas, which you wanted me to pay). So Eiither you or your employees did not take stock before you emailed me an invoice or you knew ahead of time that you did NOT have 6 and tried to sell me what you have. 4. The 4 habrosas and the oto cats have SEVERE red gills when they were pre-packed in bags upon my arrival. Either this is due high ammonia or red gills disease. I regret buying them. 5. A local fish store in san diego says it is bacterial and recommends medicine treatment. Since the day i picked them up They have been in medicinal treatment and it is nearly a week where the red gills have been present even with daily water changes and 0 ammonia.. I never had this experience with other local fish stores. 6 aside, i have received unsolicited yelp correspondence from your employee. Note i was courteous with your employees. They did not need to initiate any involvement in yelp which was not appreciated. 7. The only correspondence was that you would send 2 cories free of charge on monday and i would not take further action until we resolve this problem. 8. Please do not send the 2 cories, i am wary of the quality of care from your shop given the state of the cories and oto cats. Going forward I will not be ordering from this "guppy mill". And i will report this to the bbb and to other social media sites
