Tony and his crew love fish and it's evident when they talk with their customers and make recommendations and provide information. This little fish store is in a small strip mall. They have a large variety of fish and all the things you need to get an aquarium started. Chris was super knowledgeable and gave all the instructions on what we would need to do to take care of the new puffer fish that we bought. They welcomed us back to have the water quality checked after a few days from set up. They gave instructions on what temp the tank should be and what and how often to feed the fish. I went here a few days ago to buy an anubias plant for my betta and the plant tanks looked dirty, but I'm still learning I'm barely on my second betta. I regret buying the plant so much not only was it overpriced, but it gave my fish ich which are parasites he has white spots all over his body and his head is slightly red now along with his tail it looks red as if he were bleeding. So disappointing that they don't have clean conditions considering how that bacteria can affect the fishes lives. I tried to get a clear picture. read more

This place is absolutely amazing! I was personally debating if I should go for freshwater crabs, shrimps or pea puffers. I eventually ended up with freshwater crab due to the low maintenance. Chris goes above and beyond when it comes to recommendations and provided a lot of information, especially for a beginner like me, on how to take care of my Freshwater Crab. I bought the whole setup ranging from a frameless tank to filters to vegetation in the tank. Chris is very active on Instagram! So be sure to follow his IG for any store updates and new fish stocks. So maybe 14-16 hours ago I walked in and purchased a Pearl Gourami, within 12 hours the fish was dead so I ran to check my water parameters and everything was ok, and temperature was at 76 degrees. I called in and they said unfortunately there is no warranty, and this is actually the second gourami i purchased from them that didn't make it. A few weeks prior I purchased a honey gourami which passed away maybe 3-4 days after. Now after seeing other reviews here and in Google coming to this place wasn't the smartest. Yesterday I was trying to get a Bristlenose as well and while the owners son as going thru decor almost every aquarium had multiple dead fish on the bottom so look around when you walk in. Customer service was there! I will say the owner, his son and employee was very personable! That being said quality of fish be careful as I've never lost fish within a day, two from the same location is kind of bothersome. If you're willing to drive abit more hop on the 10 and drive to Montclair to Jan's Tropical Fish! Check them out I left them a positive review, they helped me cycle my aquarium, and slowly add fish, the last two cobra guppies I purchased there contracted saddleback disease a week later and I took them back, lady was so polite and took them for store credit, and showed me how to treat my aquarium and haven't had an incident since. Check them for quality. It's abit more, example at fish world neon tears are 2.99 and Jan's are 3.99. The pearl gourami I purchased was 15.99 and I've seen it at Jane for 17.99. But you get quality and pace of mind knowing if the fish pass within days you can get store credit. So just my personal experiences I've had shopping at fish world, fish don't last long. read more

The employees are very knowledgeable and passionate about fish. A very kid friendly, family oriented atmosphere too. Stop by to show your 5 year old a giant pleco and puffer fish, or come alone to stock your tanks. Chris (the owner) is an honest guy, always eager to answer questions. He definitely makes you feel like there are no stupid questions. Expect to get a four part answer to any equipment/setup question you ask; the most expensive option, middle of the road option, the budget/diy option, and Chris's personal perspective given the pros and cons of each. If you're new to the hobby, this goes a long way. It's easy to spend a lot of money in this hobby, but given the affordable prices on quality fish/equipment here and the priceless knowledge Chris gives out for free, it's a great place to start. Drove 45 minutes to get here at 11:00 AM and they're closed even though online states that they open at 11:00 AM on Wednesdays. The business hours on the door states that they open at 12:30 PM on Wednesdays, so it seems as if they just didn't update the hours online. This place is clean and well stocked with healthy fishes. I have a 75G with a Blue Acara and 3 Clown Loaches. I needed more movement in the tank and Chris suggested Rosaline Sharks and Tiger Barbs. Been coming here since it opened. 1) there are very few freshwater fish stores in the area, so it's much appreciated that this store is available. 2) Chris is extremely knowledgeable and will answer any questions you have about keeping fishes. 3) the fish selection is better than anything available in a 20 mile radius. Petsmart and Petco doesn't count because they have boring basic fishes. I've always enjoyed my interaction with Chris, and have purchased dozens and dozens of fishes by now. On the other side they have a wide variety of tanks, fish food products and accessories. It could be cleaned up and organized more and some products could be restocked! Has delivered custom orders to me when the fish I wanted was not in stock. For the complaints I'm seeing about store not being open if you follow FishWorldOntario on instagram, he is good about posting updates for when he has to close early. From what I can tell he is the only employee and has a kid. And I have never felt not accommodated anytime I come to visit or pick up supplies.
