Welcome to the world of greed! New owners showed theirselves big time this week. Limiting capacity, forget it, safety concerns, forget it, just jam as many as you can and make them wait in crowded conditions for an hour for a 5 minute ride down one of the few runs open so we can make more money. Lack of snow is not their fault but allowing what can only be described as a shit show is inexcusable. I have skied here for 15 years and lived here for 10 and I have never seen anything near the chaos that has existed this week. I'm so disappointed. read more

So just wrapped up a daytrip from vegas to here. Its about a 3 hour drive one way. Talk about easy mountain driving for the last part. By the way the place is on mountain standard time so if you want to get here for opening time prepare to hit the road around 5am. As for the mountain no long lift lines and plenty of intermediate blue runs. Even their main run wasn't packed like a typical weekend in socal. read more

Whoah. Review #700. Better make it count. So much pressure. Not really. We had a blast at Brian Head a couple of weeks ago. We took advantage of a Groupon we found through the Salt Lake City Groupon site. It was only my second time snowboarding; the first time being about 14 years ago. When I looked at the Brian Head trail map in advance of our trip, I was excited at all the green runs on the Navajo side of the resort. It's a little deceiving though. The difference is night and day when you compare the greens at Brian Head and the bunny hill at the Las Vegas Ski & Snowboard Resort. In other words, it was still a little intimidating. Long story short, I was able to recall most of what I had learned 14 years ago and I did pretty well considering. The short green runs (First Time and You're Ready) are great for practicing, while still providing some steeper areas for you to progress your skills. I did try a longer green (Navajo) and my legs were insanely tired by the time I reached the bottom. I certainly have a lot to learn and I look forward to getting back to Brian Head next season. I've been watching a lot of YouTube videos on snowboarding basics and tips for next time. read more

Their cancelation policy is horrible. My family prepaid tickets and rentals for New Year's. We stayed at Cedar Mountain 45 minutes away. There was a snowstorm that snowed us in at our cabin and one of the main roads were closed to get to the resort . We tried calling and emailing but due to the weather and being understaffed we were unableb to get ahold of anyone. We were able to make it the following day where the staff kindly said no refunds or credit. we're sorry. Us not showing up didn't inconvenience one employee there but they thought that was A good opportunity to take $700 from an out of state vacationing family. read more

I'm quite the novice. I've only been snowboarding a total of 3 times in my life. Two of those times were at Brian Head. The cost is comparable to other resorts. For an all day lift ticket with snowboard rental it's about $100. The day I went was a blackout day for my groupon, but they wouldn't honor redeeming it for it's non-promotional value (as it says it can be on the actual coupon). I might need to go through groupon to get my money back. It's an inconvenience. There are plenty of food choices. A bit expensive, but it's expected. I had clam chowder in a sourdough bowl for $7.50. It was a little watery, but I still enjoyed it. Lockers are only $0.50 and there is a change machine nearby. There is a good amount of room for practicing and whatnot, although it can be a little crowded sometimes with group lessons. Parking lot attendants were helpful and friendly. It can take 20-30 minutes to go through the line for rentals. I'm not sure how much of that is the resorts fault though. read more

This is my first ski season really hitting Brian Head and I have to say, I'm a big fan. With the two mountains being connected this is a pretty decent sized "local" mountain for weekend trips, they also get the amazingly dry and fluffy Utah powder every so often. The season snowfall isn't epic but it seems to have decent coverage and this season started off with a bang getting dumped on the week before Thanksgiving and having a strong base from then on out. The best part of this resort is the crowds, or lack there of. Makes the mountain seem twice as big and makes the days on the slopes that much more enjoyable. Is this the best mountain ever, definitely not. But it is the best option to drive to from Vegas for some fun in the snow. Can't beat the reasonable lift ticket prices, I just opted for a season's pass this year which is paid off after 5 trips. The food options are also reasonably priced and the pizza place at the base of Giant Steps has some great micro-brews on tap. Note: I'm really tired of reading reviews of this place that mark it down for not having good snow coverage. No matter what mountain you go to, there are good and bad days, check the weather before you go up. If the coverage sucks, don't waste your time or money on the trip and wait for a better opportunity. read more

I recently tried my hand at skiing for the first time in 30 years. I can't say enough about how much I loved the experience at the Brian Head Resort! From checking in to renting skis and boots to the lesson - all top notch. Brianna was our instructor and was really great. I can't wait to get back up there and go for it again. I'm hooked now. read more

I've been coming to Brian Head since 2003 and this is the first time they've done major renovations. The place looks amazing now and the food is sooooo good for the price. I have my season pass, so I'll be here all season long. Definitely worth the 3 hour drive if you're from Vegas! read more

Brian Head Resort - Gorgeous day on the mountain. - Resorts Near Me - Brian Head, Utah

Thank you Ken Jenson for listening to our complaint listed below and fixing the issue immediately! I have changed the number of stars. Original Review: Dear Owners: please get control of the ski lifts!! Since new ownership took over a few years ago the cost of season passes went down and so did customer service! I would rather pay more and receive better service. Your staff is showing preferential treatment to their friends and allowing doubles in the singles line cut everyone else by 4 sets at a time. This has to stop. Bring some organization to the mountain and this will very easily get you guys back on track! Even though things have gone down hill (pun intended) we will and forever be faithful as season pass holders! Just get your act together. read more

Decently fun resort. But the customer support is lacking. Very clearly could have done something to make our situation right, but instead after waiting for 20 minutes chose to not help knowing that we were from out of town. We will be visiting other resorts from now on. read more

Just got back from Spring Break at Brianhead. Had a blast. Tons of snow and no crowds. How can you beat that combo? Well, how about throw in some 1/2 priced lift tix? Oh and my 5 yr old gets a free lift tix AND rentals? Score. Staff was awesome. Especially the rental guys and lift operators. Snow conditions were fantastic. Can't complain about a 9 ft base and some freshies to top it off. Shuttle service was quick and efficient. The driver even had a boxer puppy on board that entertained the kids. The only downside is the lack of food choices after a day of skiing. Who wants to cook after shredding all day? We enjoyed the pizza place in town and finished our meal with homemade ice cream cookie sandwiches. After we ordered ours, everyone else in the place saw them and order some too. The drive off the I- 15 is pretty easy. One big S turn at the top and you are there. I could see how it can get hairy during a storm but it couldn't be easier for spring skiing. Do yourself a favor and give it a try. You won't be disappointed. read more

Had a bad first experience. We had an awful planner who didn't check the weather or snow fall. So happy we gave it a second chance because now we have been over three times and it's been so much fun. Just make sure you check the weather and snow fall and if all of it checks out, it's a lot of fun. There's a lot of lifts and the paths are well kept as long as there's enough snow fall :) But don't try buying beer before noon lol they are not about that :P read more

Can you enjoy Brian Head in August without snow - Of course! I searched family friendly activities to do in the area on our 10-day vacation and came across the Brian Head Family Adventure located at Brian Head Resort. We were all excited to take the chairlift up to the top to start our adventure. There was a mountain biking competition going on the same time and we got to watch them race. They have trails for hikers and the bikers have their own trails as well. At first we were hesitant to take the hike since it was 2.75 miles, but you are going down hill. You can choose to pay $5.00 extra for an extra adventure(if you decide not to the only cost would be the chairlift price) which has a checklist for items to find along the way like an insect or animal, fossils, flowers, snow etc. Along the way there were horseshoes with a letter on them which had to be written down on the paper and we had to figure out what it said once we unscrambled it. When you returned to the shop they go over the list and give a bead that represents each item that was found (some things you are showing pictures you took from your camera) to make a necklace. For the word scramble my daughter got a stone. Also, they got a compass to use on the adventure - so worth the extra $5.00. The manager was very personable with the kids and made it so much fun. We had a wonderful time even though - believe it or not we got stuck in a hail storm. Thank God for that tree who became our best friend for an hour. This made the adventure even more exciting. Here is the following information on the adventure I pulled from their website: Brian Head Family Adventure is a self guided interpretive and activity course along the Dixie National Forest's new and incredibly scenic Vista Trail. The Vista Trailhead is at the top of the Giant Steps Chairlift (11,000 ft.) and the trail itself meanders its way down the mountain for 2.75 miles back to the base of the chairlift and activity center. Activities are free with the purchase of a scenic lift ticket. Children and adults will enjoy activities that are culturally, geographically, and historically significant to Brian Head Resort and the surrounding area. ** An adult must accompany children under the age of twelve for all activitiesActivities Include: Fossil Excavation - Adventurers will excavate and identify various types of plant and animal fossils at our simulated dig site. Panning for Gold -Come prospect for gold and learn the procedures at our pyrite placer. Cattle Roping - Hone your lariat skills and help git them doggies home! Pictograph Painting - Make your story last a thousand years! Rock Hounding - All you rock hounds will enjoy sniffing for geodes, agate, and other pretty treasures. Operating Hours June 23, 2012 - September 30, 2012 (Weather Permitting) Open Thursday-Sunday from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. Lift operates Friday - Sunday from 9:30 am to 4:30 pm. My favorite mountain closest to Las Vegas. Lots of pros than cons with this mountain. Pros: The snow is better in Utah. "If you don't know, now you know, you know". Very friendly staff. This is a plus to me. Too many negative experiences from the resorts in California. No attitude if you mess up on the lifts with the noobies and they always have something positive to say to you. It's never crazy busy like that of Lee Canyon and of any resort west of Nevada. Even when it is considered busy, the mountain still looks open to mob down without any speed checking. When half of the lifts are open due to weather conditions, they will not charge you the full amount like all of the other resorts I've been to. This makes total sense to me. The other resorts seem to not even care if the mountain is only 10% to 50% open. I've been charged the full amount one time with only 10% of the mountain open. I won't mention which mountain it is but it sit's close to Mammoth Lakes in California. $$$CHA-CHING$$$ DOLLA DOLLA BILLS YO!!! There is a tour bus http://psptours.com/ which will take you from Las Vegas to Brian Head for a day trip. Pay for the gas and they will take care of the ride, snacks, and Red Bull. This bus makes total sense. No wear and tear on your vehicle, and you get to rest going up and back. Cons: Current Utah law sets a limit of 3.2 percent alcohol by weight (4 percent by volume) in beer. YAY!!! I'M A FAN!!! read more

This is a great resort! It has a couple of different parking lots where you can park so you can enjoy different trails around the mountain. The lift tickets are pretty reasonable. I really liked that they had two different session for half day lift tickets. (9:30am or 1pm) Normally lots of resorts only have one option that starts in the afternoon. It's only $44 on non-holiday weekends. I've seen pretty good lift ticket deals on Groupon and Liftopia. The runs aren't that long, but it's not super crowded either. The only bummer is that the lifts are pretty slow. I really wanted to go tubing, but we went during President's weekend and tubing was sold out before we got there. So I'll have to go back and try it. I would love to go back, when they have a great season of snow. It's only about 2-3 hours away from Vegas... It'll be another excuse to stop in Vegas. read more

Skied couple of days before Christmas vacation in mid Dec 2010. First day of skiing on Friday was awesome. Everything I wanted from Utah skiing is right there, dry powder, no lift line and friendly staff. We kept looking around wondering when the hordes of people are going to show up and jam the lift lines. Never happened, even on Saturday the next day. This is really weird, no lift line. And, the food in the cafeteria was actually pretty good and cheap. Mid week lift ticket $45, you just don't feel like getting ripped off in this resort. You get what you paid for. There are no high-speed gondola or quads. The triple or quad chairs are leisurely and some take forever to get to the top. The second day of skiing was a little bit different. The snow came in and dumped 6 inches to a foot overnight. Now, for some people fresh powder is great. Somehow, they never groomed the runs for Saturday, so all day long I see people getting stuck, falling down and stopping to catch breath. Totally different from Friday with the groomed runs. I called it quit after lunch. My legs were just too noodley to ski any more. Somehow they groomed the runs on Saturday night so although I didn't ski on Sunday I'd imagine the skiing would have been awesome after the grooming. Will definitely go back next season. Even the condos are reasonable. Stayed at the condos above Georg's Ski Shop. They have the best prices on rentals, and the proprietors are very friendly and nice folks. read more

Great ski resort. Fun to go visit with a large group and probably would be great for a date too. Very, very scenic driving from Vegas to Brian Head and I would love to hike the area in the summer. It was my first time skiing and the only thing that made me nervous was that the ski lifts had no safety bar across the front - maybe this is standard practice for ski resorts but didn't make me feel the best sitting in their lifts when the wind picked up - especially seeing the little kids in them without adults :/ I work in healthcare (in rehabilitation) so I'm probably overly thoughtful about the safety measures, but honestly, otherwise it's a nice place. It def. gets my stamp of approval. read more

Great resort such a short drive from Vegas. We went in Feb. and there was plenty of snow for skiing and snowboarding. Like that there are two different mountain areas for beginners and more experienced people. Also loved the free shuttle for the area. Be careful when they get busy though, one mountain might not have your size when renting and you might have to take the shuttle to the other one. read more

AWESOME!!! I usually go to Mountain High or Bear, since I live in the LA area. But Brian head showed me the light. This is what REAL SNOW feels like! It ruined LA snowboarding for me! Great powder runs, beautiful mountain... and affordable! We went during peak season... december 27-28... and it was 60 something bucks. that's a GREAT deal. read more

Good slopes but they lack the man power to properly groom the areas after snowfall. Also the workers seem not too knowledgeable about the ways to navigate the mountains so it's best to grab a map for yourself. It is best to come when it isn't a busy season and they aren't overloaded, as they don't handle large crowds well and the lifts are a total mess of people just cutting ahead of the more docile people. Other than the staff, a great mountain to board when they have the park terrain well set up, but it isn't a very challenging area so don't plan to come if you are well experienced. If you're bringing kids or novice ski/boarders this is a great place to come. Also don't plan to eat at the mountain, it's much better to bring your own food and not waste a ton of money on elementary school quality food. read more

This is a 4 hour scenic awesome drive north of the commercial and materialism of Vegas. You will be thrust into the canyons of Virgin River and Zion National Park and Cedar Breaks National Monument before you arrive at the highest base ski resort in Utah. Less crowded than Park City and more powdery, this place rocks for snowboarding and skiing. Four mountains, with loads of advanced and beginner runs, there is enough to keep you busy for days. Utah isn't just for polygamists anymore, its for skiing sinners like me. read more

Overall has a great variety of skill level slopes; Navajo is ideal for beginners and littles! Giant Steps is a great Intermediate-Advance slope with plenty shoots to make your mark, the park is perfect canvas for creative style riding (just watch out for the kids that haven't been thought proper park etiquette). Family-friendly with reasonable pricing for rentals and food. read more

I love Brian Head! It's an awesome option for Southern Californians who want an alternative to over priced, over crowded Mammoth. The drive is probably about the same length, with the added bonus of a stop in Vegas (always an incentive for my Dad!). This place has really grown since the last time I've been here with 2 new lifts. Even on a holiday weekend the lines are short - I don't think I ever waited more than 2-3 minutes. There is also some terrain for everyone with a whole mountain of easy green and blue slopes. Oh and I almost forgot to mention the glorious, fresh powder. I guess I just assumed it was a given. We were fortunate to wake up to 8 inches of soft snow... it made falling down fun! True there isn't much in the area, but we usually stay out in Cedar City where there are shops and restaurants and lots of affordable lodging options. read more

Never fails...Brian Head Resort rocks! I'm not an avid snow person, but every time I've been to Brian Head the snow's been perfect. Powder-ific! Brianhead! I haven't been here for about two years but oh what a crazy experience! We were in the middle of a crazy blizzard but got to experience crazy powder. I fell so many times but it was well worth it. The lift tickets and rental prices were very reasonable and a lot of the lifts were open to shred some snow! The bar and restaurant inside the lodge on the other hand lacked customer service and our service wasn't very good due to the server forgetting our entire order and we had to wait a half an hour just for chicken fingers.... Overall, I will be back! read more

We visited this resort for summer activities and enjoyed ourselves. The mountain is tucked away in the hills of southern Utah but had a good turnout. There were local vendors selling items they made and you also had a few choices for food, too. They have rental bikes and also a mechanic on hand to help you diagnose issues with you machine. It didn't look like they had much beyond basic repair parts so if you encounter anything major, you'll be sitting it out for the day. read more

Skiing. Perfect! Weather. Perfect! Resort. Perfect! Now the food. Your basic skiing fares that is no nonsense and hit the spot everything time. There is always a soup du jour, chicken chili, a basic salad bar, and grilled food. My most memorable discovery on this trip is the yummy breakfast. For $5.00 you get a generous breakfast of 2 eggs, thick pieces of bacon and nice portion of hashbrown crisly brown on the outside, moist on the inside with just a hint of onion and 2 pieces of toast. Couple that with a hearty cup of hot coffee and that will prepare you for the a nice morning of skiing until it's time for lunch. At which time, the chicken sandwich and crisp french fries will hit the spot with a bottle of Blue Moon. Who cares about the calories since you'll be spending the afternoon skiing like a Utahn. read more

We came from San Diego California to come try out the small little gem. of the mountain. I have never met a nicer set of staff ever at a ski resort! The only thing I found a little weird with all the promos for buy three days blah blah blah lift tickets... in reality you only save like a dollar compared to buying one day at time. With that being said the prices still are very affordable and even though it's a small mountain it was a lot of fun for myself my husband and our two boys. It's the first week in April and there still snow. I'm sure in winter when there's more snowfall every day the conditions are even better but it was definitely enough to get us down the mountain and have fun for the days we were here! read more

All the lift attendants had a stick up their ass this season. I got shown so much disrespect throughout the season. One of them threatened to kick me out for snapping my board. I drove up the mountain to go night boarding to find out they were closing for an hour right when I got there for some stupid fireworks show that wasn't on their website and it was still the jacked holiday rate for 2 hours of board time. Another big downside is all the trashy Vegas people that go here. Next season I'll be giving eagle point a try. read more

I'm pretty frustrated with the resort AGAIN. So I just got a notice from Brian Head Resort about buying new season tickets. I also asked about day passes that couldn't be used and nothing back on those either.
