I had been seeing Dr. Eastwick for 2 years. I never had to wait more than 15 minutes to be seen. He is a kind and concerned doctor. I went to him for eye exams and charting to see whether my eyes had been effected by pre-diabetes. Only slightly. I am no longer pre-diabetic. I was with Heathnet, but their coverage changed and he was then suddenly out of network. I am hoping to be able to get him again now that I have left Healthnet. I only need reading glasses; nothing else. The only issue I have is parking. They do not validate so I have to cross the street (no crosswalk on a busy street) and park around the corner near a bunch of Spectrum vans. But at least it's free. read more

Dr. Estwick's office has provided me the worst medical care I have ever received. At the time of my appointment, the doctor was also tending to at least 5 other patients. He kept leaving the exam room during my consultation with him in order to treat other patients! I was literally in the middle of explaining my symptoms to him when he just left the room for 10 minutes with no explanation. My consultation should have taken less than 30 minutes but because Dr. Estwick was so busy with other patients I didn't end up leaving his offer until 2 hours later. Furthermore, Dr. Estwick prescribed me a course of treatment (which included the insertion of eye plugs into my eyes) without explaining me what the treatment was or why I needed it. He became impatient and frustrated when I asked him questions such as, "What are eye plugs?" and "How soon will I begin to feel relief after they are inserted?" It's a patient's right to understand why he or she needs to undergo a procedure or begin taking a medication, but Dr. Estwick clearly does not value this right. Dr. Estwick told me he would send my prescription to my pharmacy on Friday morning. Friday evening arrived and my pharmacy still had not received it. I called Dr. Estwick's office and the receptionist, Emma, said she would write the doctor a reminder note to send it before he left for the day. Monday morning arrived and my pharmacy still had not received the prescription. I called the office once again and Emma told she that all she could do was remind him again. I felt helpless. The prescription was finally sent on Monday afternoon, 3 days after I should have begun my treatment. My insurance company contacted Dr. Estwick's office to collect more information about why I needed the prescription. According to my pharmacy, Dr. Estwick's response was, "We do not have the staff or resources to complete this task." OUTRAGEOUS and COMPLETELY UNPROFESSIONAL! It is a doctor's job to ensure the best care and course of treatment for their patients. I am now having to pay out of pocket for a medication prescribed by Dr. Estwick because his office could not be bothered to provide any information about my medical condition to my insurance company. I have cancelled my followup appointment and will be seeking care elsewhere. Dr. Estwick is disorganized, thoughtless, condescending, irresponsible, and inattentive. He has provided me with low quality medical care and I discourage anyone from seeing him. read more

Fantastic surgeon and staff. Dr. Estwick just restored my eyesight. I had developed a very bad cataract in my left eye as a result of lasik, PRK surgery and age. As a bookkeeper in the middle of tax season, it was getting more and more difficult for me to provide service to my clients. I work for myself so it is even more important for me to be available. Irma worked with my primary care physician, Dr. Rubottom to quickly schedule my surgery. William, who appears to be his Dr. Estwick's right hand, explained things thoroughly, as did Dr. Estwick. Surgery was yesterday and follow up was today. I was back at work today though I recommend taking a day or two to just rest and let your eye heal. I am extremely hyper by nature and a bit claustrophobic but everything went very smoothly. The anesthesiologist kept me relaxed and comfortable. Highly Recommend!! read more

I came to this idiot's office on November 23, 2016 to get my eyes checked for a situation I was having at that time. I did not choose to go to this idiot but he was who I was referred to by my insurance. So while I was looking into the Slit Lamp Microscope that Brian Estkwick instructed me to look into so he can check out my eyes. "I noticed his finger poked/scratched the outer corner of my right eye", In which I flenched backwards after that, by reflex action. As he was attempting to place some sort of eye drop/gel like substance in my eyes while I was looking into Slit Lamp Microscope with his finger. So about a day later after leaving Brian's Estkwick M.D. office I noticed a brand new half inch scar in the outter corner of my right eye. I automatically knew it came from Brian's Estkwick's finger when he poked/scratched my right eye as he was placing a drop/gel substance into my eyes to exam them. It is very unprofessional to place drops of any nature into a patients eyes with your finger. Which kind of eye doctor does stupid stuff like that? Now I have a permanent scar in my right eye that I have to live with for the rest of my life because of this fool. He's lucky I didn't come back there and punch him in his face. I already reported him to the Medical board and he's being reviewed. Stay away from this idiot. read more

Dr. Estwick himself, is personable and knowledgeable. However, there are serious issues with infection control and staff competence. The technician at my first appointment touched the vial to my eye when dilating my pupils. I contracted conjunctivitis and blepharitis. I received medication for the blepharitis, but it never resolved. Months later, I had a small growth removed from my eyelid. It remained irritated and became infected. Office staff gave me an appointment for the infection , but never explained that my yearly visit two days later would be included in that visit (not sure how that would be possible with the severity of the infection). Had to go to urgent care to treat the infection in the meantime and called to cancel the emergency appointment because I was well and just needed to keep my regular appointment. Now the office changed my yearly appointment without warning after I scheduled it one year ago. Just called to transfer my records to Jules Stein Eye Center. Stay away! read more

I came to the center with minus 14 vision. I was seeing double in one eye. After testing, I found to have cataracts. Dr Estwick removed the cataracts and placed interlocutor lenses. I now have 20/30 vision. I no longer need to wear glasses or contact lenses. I've worn glasses since I was three. It's amazing to be able to see without them. Dr. Estwick restored my eyesight and I can't be more grateful. My vision was deteriorating rapidly at age 48 due to cataracts. I needed large font sizes, inverse colors and reading glasses just to work on my computer and earn a living. I avoided driving at night due to the glare from oncoming headlights. I couldn't use my phone in daylight because there was just no way I could read the screen. I was miserable and scared for my future. Fast forward three months and now . . . I have 20/20 vision. I'm able to work at a computer, read the smallest font on my phone and drive anywhere without anxiety, all without glasses! And all thanks to Dr. Estwick. He's not only highly educated and very experienced, he's also the kind of guy that radiates quiet confidence and a genuine concern for your well-being. You know you're in good hands. As an example, I had my left eye done with the assistance of lasers. When it came time for my right eye, the laser machine at the surgery center malfunctioned. I was prepped and ready for surgery, lying in my gurney, so this was unsettling news. Dr. Estwick calmly explained the situation and my options: Return later when the laser was fixed or proceed with him the old-fashioned way, without a laser. I asked him if he was confident proceeding without a laser and he said yes. I looked him in the eye, took a deep breath and said let's do it. If anything, I see better now with my right eye than the left. Dr. Estwick, you're the man! I would recommend him to anyone. read more

Before finding Dr. Estwick's office I researched about 9 different doctors. Dr. Estwick's office was prompt and diligent in returning my call and answering my questions. I researched the doctor and took into account ALL patient reviews before finally setting up an appointment. The office was in an easy to find location, plenary of parking and office staff was super pleasant. My initial visit was quick and concise. The doctor examined me and we set up the appointment for a chalazion removal. I had the chalazion removed a year ago and it came back three times the size. The doctor that performed the surgery before did not get the entire chalazion removed and did not numb the area before removal. Needless to say it was very painful. The doctor seemed rushed and less than motivated to remove it. Dr. Estwick was completely the opposite. He was more concerned with my comfort and making sure I felt minimal pain. Constantly checking in on me as he started the process to numb the area. He informed me of every step of the procedure always making sure if I felt any pain or discomfort before proceeding with the next step. In addition adding a little humor. I loved his demeanor and his professionalism. I would highly recommend his services to any family and friend. read more

I went in to have a floater in my eye checked out. The doctor performed a series of tests, and was very amiable. The wait was quite long for an exam, at about 45 minutes. After the tests were done, he had me come in two weeks later for some more tests. A few weeks later, I got a bill in the mail for 600 dollars, after my insurance had covered about 1400 dollars. After a couple weeks of talking to my insurance company, and then to Estwick's office, they concluded that the surgery on my bill was not correct. I understand that there are mistakes, but the billing office at Estwick's office was quick to initially conclude to my insurance company that there were no mistakes on my bill. I received a revised bill for $146 dollars (which still seems a little off) which I paid. After having paid it, I still receive notices demanding payment. I would absolutely avoid this place. read more

Had my right eye done last month. Interocular implant. The procedure was a breeze and my eyesight is incredible. No more glasses!!!

Be very careful. I went in for a checkup and he decided to perform a refraction exam. After the exam was done he told me I would need to pay $65.00 unless I buy eye glasses from him. He even went so far as to say my insurance doesn't have any eye benefits to cover the exam. Not true. I can have a yearly refraction exam and insurance will pay for it if I go to a provider in the group. Long story short I am still trying to get my money back and he has no business receiving referrals in my health plan when he is not willing to accept the payment agreed upon from the insurance group. And yes you have to wait around and yes he is a wise guy with comments like "time is money". read more

Dr. Estwick is a gem of a doctor. He is committed to the highest degree of professionalism and is a remarkably skilled surgeon. He removed the cataracts in my eyes effortlessly and replaced the lenses so I now have 20/20 vision in both eyes -- without the aid of glasses or other corrective assistance. AMAZING!!! Dr. Estwick found my detached retina and saved my eyesite. He has all of my records on computer in visual files so he could compare my old photos from 2 years ago. His staff is very polite and low key, his office also is the same. I've been to Dr. Joshi and Dr Hecht's offices and this office in MDR is light years better. The waits are short. Dr. Estwick is patient, explains things in normal terms and reassures his scared patients like a pro. His office manager Will is a real pleasure to work with. He tells the truth with many years of experience to back up his opinions. I never feel like I'm in a car lot with pushy sales people or rushed to make decisions about my health. I've been given loaner contact lenses to see how well they work. I recommend! read more

After being told by another ophthalmologist that I could no longer benefit from my 20-year history of mono-vision using contact lenses, I visited Dr. Estwick. My visual needs were complicated. After a very short wait, using sophisticated equipment, my vision was evaluated by Dr. Estwick and his vision care staff, Joseph and Will. Being a surgeon, sharp close focus was critical to me. I had multiple office visits, using a variety of trial contact lenses. After each visit, my vision was improving. Joseph, the optician and contact lens specialist, spent an enormous amount of time with me, tirelessly adjusting the various contact lenses to active the best possible vision. Dr. Estwick would clearly explain the results of his evaluations, in easily understandable terms, making me feel both confident in his care and knowing that I would get best vision possible. My daughter's visit was in 2014 where upon arriving we told Dr. Estwick that my daughter had recently been evualuated when she received glasses for the first time at Sears, where the Dr. there told us she possibly may have Keratoconus. We then found Dr. Estwick and went for a firsdt time visit ,where he then Told us he would monitor my daughter's situation . I mentioned that there was a procedure called crosslinking that was suggested to us by Sears- Ophthalmogist- and for him to look into. He said he would look into it. My daughters eye sight began to get worse as the years went by.We returned again in 2016, where her vision was terribly worse. I just received his medical reports where He wrote in his notes that her vision was the same, which is false. He never looked into the treatment for my daughter over a 3 year process. 2017 I left to find another Dr. for my daughter. The first thing that the new opthalmologists told to me was that Dr. Estwick should have suggested the Crosslinking procedure within the first 6 months in 2014 ! We depended on his expertise as a Dr. A month after we visited him in December in 2016, I left a verbal message reminding him again to look into the referral of the process, and no answer. Also It was always extremely hard getting an appointment with him . I would Not recommend Dr. Estwick! read more

I just had cataract procedures on both eyes done a month apart of each other and I can see clearly again! My vision is 20/20. Everything is so beautifully bright and the clarity is truly amazing! What a bad experience today. I went to Dr. Estwick because he was referred to me by a relative of his. I was looking forward to meeting him and letting him know I knew his niece. Long story story, it was the worst medical experience I have ever had. Appt was at 2:45pm and I still hadn't seen him when I left at 4:05pm. I was told he was coming into my room after I met with the technician. I waited 30 minutes. I started getting impatient at 3:50pm. The Dr happened to walk into my to get paperwork for the patient he was with and I complained. He told me that I was there for contacts and she was there for surgery so I had to wait. Then he told me that his office wasn't McDonalds and lastly said that if I paid in cash, he would see me quicker. I have to admit, I was impatient but he was rude and totally out of line. I paid $65 for nothing. Would love to find a good eye doctor on the Westside. read more

I have highest regard and praise for how Dr. Estwick and his staff cared for me during two cataract surgeries. First Dr. Estwick and his assistant, William, spent a lot of time with me, fitting and trying lens combinations, explaining the procedure, and answering all my questions. Years ago I had tried some of the first bifocal contacts (they were terrible!). I knew my prejudice would prevent me from making a good choice unless I took the time to learn about the newest lenses. Finally I did choose the bifocal lenses because they were perfectly suited for my vision. They are wonderful--no weirdness, lines, unfocused areas-- I can turn, look close and far without missing a beat. The surgery center staff was kind and professional, and the facilities convenient and pristine. The new cataract surgery is so painless, quick, and gentle on the patient that it is something to be amazed about, considering the great preparation, practice, education and research from all these professionals to make that happen. Dr. Estwick's office staff was kind, patient and cheerful. Happily, Dr. Estwick keeps a comfortable schedule, so that there are no long waits or crowded waiting rooms. The emphasis is quality, compassionate care: not a patient mill like some places. I did not have complications, so did both eyes a month apart. I love my new eyes! I highly recommend visiting Dr. Estwick should you find yourself needing an eye specialist. read more
