I was happy to stop in here for happy hour with a friend. We liked the prices and options. There is a set happy hour menu that has beer for $4 or $5.50, depending on the size and $7 wine. We also tried some food - the soft pretzel and fried pickles. Both tasted good and were $2 off each- anything from shareable menu is $2 off during happy hour, which is M-F between 2-6 and Thu-Sun 9-closing. The patio is nice, shaded and breezy. I look forward to coming back and trying more options on the happy hour menu. ...so, I returned and split the corn dog with a friend. I hadn't had one in years, but it hit the spot. Good portion. I had the Neon Lights beer, which is a hoppy ale. I'll be having that again. Also, just a note that their menu offers quite a variety of options, and I think that's a real draw to this place. Of course, there are different beer and drinks to choose from, but you can also order greasy food, like beer dipped fried chicken or healthy dishes such as a green goddess salad or tuna poke. It's a good spot. If I lived in this area, I'd be a regul read more

Accommodated a big group upstairs. Great at atmosphere! Margaritas were great And the apps were amazing as well!

Pretty good little brew house, and a nice change from the miserable Steel Toad failure. Counter style unless you sit at the bar. Food is a little bit pricey, but I can't really comment on quality since I have only tried the cheese burger which they apparently styled after In and Out Burger. Kinda similar. I have heard from others that the food can be slow to come out, but I have not experienced that personally. Could be a better selection of beers. Basically half guest taps and half their own brew, which they also do in collaboration with other local breweries. Perhaps they will add more with time. Staff is good here and fairly knowledgeable. The room is pretty cool, with large communal tables, and sweet little garden patio in the back complete with ping pong table, and also a mini arcade area stocked with 90s video games (incl pac man and street fighter 2) and pinball machines. Overall, good times. read more

Price was good. Portions are small. Lots of seating. Not very noisy. The games aspect could have been more central for people to watch, rather than off in a corner. I liked that it was an order and pay system, rather than having a server (just seemed to work better). The beer chicken pieces: Pretty tasty. Good sauce. The Mexican bowl: It was okay... had some flavour, but it was really good after my friend suggested I pour the leftover sauce from her chicken into my dish. read more

Just opened. Very friendly and helpful staff. Good selection of their own brews and also local ones. They have 2 patios, and it's all self seating for the whole restaurant. I ordered a flight of their brewhall beers, strawberry shortcake Sunday and Korean spicy wings. They have quite a good selection of food on their menu. From pizza to hotdogs to homemade chips etc. I'll be back to check out other things next time. read more

Here's a tip worthy of a beer next time I see you: use their website to order/pay. You can pretty much walk up and you're order will be ready. Haven't eaten here yet so can't judge that but their in-house beers are pretty good, as are their guest taps. Crowd is much younger than it was as Steel Toad which is good and bad. It gets super loud so prepare to yell talk. Don't order any cocktails. Stick to the safe stuff. read more

If you want to find an affordable and friendly brew, look no further. This place was great to me and I had a great time here

I'm not a beer drinker (or much of a drinker at all, really), but we ended up here, and I wasn't disappointed. The crowd was mainly 20-somethings-- though someone told me that wasn't the norm (he said the age range tends to be a little wider). Either way, no big deal! The staff (who take the orders) were very nice, there were a ton of beers for beer drinkers to choose from, and a pretty decent margarita for those of us who prefer a sweeter drink. The huge video screen was nice for when conversation lulled, and other patrons were also nice and in pretty good spirits. read more

If you need to make reservations and plan events, this is the place to be. I planned a few events here with a large group of people and always receive great service here. Servers would often come by and ask if everything was good. I would have given a 5 star except sometimes we had to be moved with a large group as there were mix up between booking the upstairs. Nonetheless, we all still had a great time. read more

Very rude, impolite & irresponsible manager. We were added to the waitlist at 6:59 pm to have a table at 8:30pm on March 6th, 2021. We got there at 8:25pm. The waites told us to wait for 10mins and we will be the 1st group to be seated. After waiting for 30 mins, they let a new group of 6 people to seat ahead of us. Once I reminded the manager (Pat) about our priorities, he disrespctfully said "I don't need to provide any explanations, you can go away if you want". Issues: 1. They clearly overbooked their tables by far without any responsibilities. 2. Their manager (Pat) was very disrespectful and rude. His name is Pat and I'm sending a complaint to his General Manager Nick Menzies. I will post the GM's response if it was any. read more

4 stars for the experience and the beers, 2 for the food. So we'll settle in the middle on 3. Fun vibe, laid back with the ordering at the bar and long tables. (You definitely have to be ready for that when you go in.) The arcade games are fun (though the Ms Pacman game had a joystick that didn't work well, much to my kid's dismay). We've normally come early in the evening on weekdays, so it's not too crazy. We went for lunch once, too, and sitting on the little patio out back is nice. The beer selection is good and the wines are about what you'd expect at a place like this (drinkable, nothing outstanding). My main quibble is the food. We've actually stopped coming in the last couple months, even though it's close by, because we generally want to get a light dinner with our kid, and every time I bring it up my partner just isn't excited about eating there. The pizza is a floppy, gooey, greasy mess. The brat was okay when I had it. I had a good side salad once, but my partner ordered a full salad and didn't like it. I think it's the memory of the pizza that puts us off, really, especially as my kid always orders pizza, no matter what. The pizza is just not good. Go to drink, and you'll have fun! read more

1. Just in case you forget where you are, they've got B R E W H A L L plastered in big brightly lit letters when you walk inside. 2. Wait to get in, then wait some more to get some beer. Lineups vs. lineups. 3. Extremely overpriced beer and food. Look elsewhere if you are expecting a proper pint! If you order anything on the menu, it's a-la-carte. Ordered the mushroom burger and got just that. The wings, it's not even 1lb, which is standard at almost all restaurants!!! 4. This place is NOISY AF, we had to talk at the top of our lungs just so the other person could hear. Is this BREWHALL Nightclub or??? 5. Patio is way too small and upstairs was under-utilized. CONCLUSION: Don't think I'd be back by choice. CRAFT, Faculty, R&B, Big Rock, Main Street, and a ton of other breweries are just around the corner, with a much better experience. You think they would have learned from the failure of Steel Toad! read more

I am writing this review based on an experience I had hosting a group of fifteen at Brewhall. I was in from out of town planning a get together for friends I do not see very often. I stopped into Brewhall eight days before the event to ask about booking a reservation. I spoke with the manager and was told they already had two bookings, but they thought it was likely one would cancel and that I should call during the week. He assured me that my event day (Sunday) there should be ample room to grab a table if the reservation did not pan out and no need to arrive early. He gave me his card. I called later in the week to ask about the reservation and was told the same thing that they were not sure if the other group was coming and that I should just show up on the day. Day of, I arrived at Brewhall to find it packed with only a small alleyway section near the door available (at least there was that). To their credit, the manager/staff said they were looking for a spot for us and eventually offered a place on the patio, but there were not enough seats for all of us and the patio closed at 10pm so we stayed put. The area we were sitting in is quite narrow and is a walkway. We had to move ourselves a few times to accommodate baby strollers exiting through the area, staff accessing private areas, and a single washroom door. A glass was knocked out of someone's hand and broke (Opa!), although the staff was very good to clean it up quickly. Maybe it is because I am not from Vancouver, but I felt Brewhall took my reservation request too casually and should have put me on a wait list for reservations, or at least suggested I arrive early to snag a spot. If I was bringing a group in the future, I would be sure to have a reservation or choose another location. I was happy with the food and fresh beer selection including some interesting collaborations. The atmosphere was lively and it was easy for my friends to get up as they pleased to order with the cafeteria style set up. 2-6 people would be easy to seat on a normal day and I will return with smaller numbers! read more

atmosphere: very large hipster vibe. customer service: friendly. price: market value food: i had the burger with a sub side salad. both arrived in a timely manner and were made well. notes: it was loud when my best friend and i went and holding a conversation was a bit of a challenge for the both of us, however, we managed, therefore, with that said maybe not the best first date place but a place to go on a date. bring your loonies cause there is an arcade, small one, and be friendly and let people play with you. it was a great way to make friends. hell i even got a cute guy's number out of it. read more

I'm giving this place a 3.5 star rating based on the atmosphere, concept, and food. Came here on a Saturday night. There was a lineup outside but we didn't have to wait long, about 15 mins. The hosts at the door were very friendly. Concept: once you go inside, there is a beer bar downstairs and a cocktail bar upstairs to choose from. You have to wait in line to order, pay at the cashier, and collect your drink at the end of the line. Seating is an open concept where you find your own seating wherever there is free space. Downstairs has communal seating with long tables and some bar seats. Upstairs has some high top seating and additional regular table seating with couches (definitely a cosier vibe upstairs). There are old school video arcade games available as well such as pinball machines, Pac man, and Street Fighter. Food: we ordered the pepperoni pizza and crinkle fries. Fries were decent however the pizza was terribly disappointing and tasted like cardboard. I've had better frozen boxed pizzas from the grocery store. To my surprise, I saw an open flame style pizza oven later in the night and wondered how they could make pizza that bad with that thing?! There are no wait staff and you have to go to the bar to order food and drinks every time. The food was definitely a downer. Overall the place has a vibrant atmosphere and is good for a group setting. read more

Escaping the heat of the day into the Brewhall was a pleasure, there was a good selection of Craft beer including ones where other breweries had sent over their brewmasters to collaborate. We live in the neighbourhood and have been very happy with the switch from Steel Toad Brewing which used to be here. The worst part of them entering the hood - they have customers who now pee on our buildings throughout the weekend evenings. Not their fault though. ANYWAYS. It's a great environment. Awesome vibe. Have a beer for everyone. Great burgers! Why is this only 2 stars? Their pizza. My goodness. So much room for improvement there. Their "take 1" was literally the same as the cheapest square frozen pizza you would get from Superstore. Absolutely terrible. They have their "take 2" right now... I tried it today. So unhappy. The crust tasted as if it were gluten-free. It was so dry and had a weird taste. Maybe they messed up? But still. I ordered the "fromage" which was all cheese....it was so ugly and tasted just as ugly. I would have given them 3 stars if this pizza hadn't made us both feel sick. C'mon you guys. Be better. So much potential!! I have also come with people who don't drink beer - their wine selection sucks. Again, it's a beer hall - what do you expect. I'm also not a fan of crinkle fries and that's what they do here. Brew Hall is a lot better than Steel Toad but when you compare with the food at Red Truck, 33 acres, R&B, etc it just isn't anywhere close. If you want a loud place where you have to yell to talk to people and drink lots of beer - then this place knocks it out of the park. PS Bring back the kettle chips and dip! read more

We love this place! We ordered the pizza, which was too small in our opinion. So we let the staff know and they went ABOVE AND BEYOND and offered us two burgers as a replacement. And they told us to keep the pizza. Seriously, this was the best example of customer service I've ever had in this city. The vibe of this place is good, the beer totally hits the spot, and service? Couldn't be better. We'll be back, and hopefully they keep up the awesome work. This is how you build a business. 100%. read more

I've been waiting to try this place, since they started renovations and today was the day. This place is apparently owned by Tap & Barrel, which has a consistently decent menu and service. This place is set up differently as you order from the counter, take a number and they bring it to your table. The menu consists mainly of burgers, pizza and hot dogs, so I ordered a cheese burger, side of fries and a "pint" of beer. Their large beer looked no bigger than 12oz, which for $7.50 was way over-priced....the beer was tasty though. The burger and fries I got were underwhelming. The burger was on the small side, served in a cheap, grocery store white bun with processed cheese and thousand islands dressing as sauce...for $8.50. The fries were an extra $5.50. Sure, $14 for a burger and fries isn't expensive as far as Vancouver burgers go these days, but there are tons of comparable places in town (or a block away) that offer way better quality for 2 dollars more....and that serve a proper pint too....and have table service. Overall, nothing to make me want to go back. read more

Love this place. Fun, warm atmosphere with arcade games and good beer. Great casual place to hang out with friends or family (kid friendly). Food is cafeteria order style and standard pub fare. Highly recommend for a casual brunch, lunch or dinner! read more

My friend and I came here recently as I live in the neighbourhood and wanted to try this new place from Tap and Barrel out. The interior was well done with a cool 'hall/canteen' concept. The staff were friendly but kind of off - like they were dazed or something. Other than that, it sucked. The beer, which was $7, was completely flat, which is insane for a place that's a 'brewhall'. For food, we ordered the pepperoni pizza and the sticky beer chicken. The pizza, which was $10, was SO SO small and pure oil/grease. When they put it down in front of us we nearly burst out laughing, it was so comical. It looked and tasted like a frozen pizza, except I'm sure a Digiorno would have tasted better and cost a fraction of the price. I had expected a pizza like the ones they serve at R&B, which are great, but unfortunately, this was not the case. The sticky beer chicken was bizzare. Just a few tiny nuggets of chicken heaped in fried batter and a sticky sauce that tasted a bit like a banh mi sauce. Also nearly $10. Altogether a $30 meal that looked like a couple of snacks thrown together. We had to go get sushi afterwards. While the brewery/pub concept is overdone in Olympic Village, we were hoping this would be something interesting/different. So disappointing. It's too bad because it's a cool space with a good idea. Just terrible food and beer. Won't be back. read more

After the change of owner from Steel Toad and major remodel this place looks pretty. But alas, the food has precipitated down along with the ambiance. You can now expect a line and a wrist stamp to get in on busy days , no rain protection. It caters to a younger crowd of bros and millennials. The place is so damn loud it is not somewhere you want to stay long, much less discuss anything pressing. The communal tables are full quickly and you are likely to stand with your pizza in hand. They sometimes organize events that require a cover fee to put up with some music band that increases the decibels to ear shattering . As for the food, they have a simplified menu with some healthy options and the usual unhealthy ones (corn dog is not bad) in every brewery. The pizzas and pretzels are re-heated fare which is funny considering their pizza oven is in plain sight. The salads are smallish and you order them at the cash register where they give you a number and then they need a waiter to look you up. Not a place I'd like to return if I can avoid. I'll stick to main owner Tap&Barrel. read more

very limited beer selection, food was OK and very overpriced given what you got. Won't be going again. It's a good concept, but they need to vamp up the selection and either bring down the food cost. read more

The night didn't start too well because there was a line up at the door and when I got inside the place was nowhere near to be full... what is this nonsense? I tried a couple of beers and they were all akin to fruit juice. I thought I would go for a lager because it so simple that it would be a safe choice...well they managed to mess that one up to. I found out that their largest size was 16oz for several beers so you pay something like $8 and you don't even get a pint. I managed to find beers they serve as pint and the price was about $9. This is outright theft, never mind the minimum suggested tip of 20% at the bar. Seriously... There is absolutely no service apart from asking what beer you want and pouring it in those 16oz glasses and those guys who hover around your table every 30 seconds and grab your glasses as soon as they are empty It's a shame because this place has a lot of potential but it seems terribly managed and everything is overpriced. read more

I expected to hate this place but I actually quite enjoyed it! Yes it's big and it's loud but they have an amazing selection of beers (guest taps, and their own collaborations with locale breweries)! The bartender also seemed to really care that we got something we loved - gave us a few tasters of things to try and a bonus one that was new (smoked wheat beer, interesting)! DJ was playing an interesting mix of music and I was happy to find a pinball machine, too! (Also has a few arcade games and buck hunter.) Looked like they were clearing tables for a dance floor later. Overall seemed like a great bar. We were there on the early side (9PM) and walked right in but there are lines later in the night. read more

Ordered through Door Dash so no comments on service or atmosphere. The food was hot considering it was delivery. Portions were ok but barely. Quality reminded me more of fast food than a sit down meal though. I ordered the cheeseburger with bacon and dirty curly fries. The bun reminded me of what you get at Wendy's, so nice and soft but not really anything that screams quality. The patty itself had decent flavour but seemed very light. Definitely would suggest ordering the double if you're hungry. Bacon was ok but not really distributed throughout the burger. It seemed to be a couple of curled up pieces. The lettuce was probably fresh, but leaf lettuce doesn't like heat so it wilted away to nothing. The dirty curly fries were pretty much what I expected. A little lean on the bacon, but an enormous amount of queso. Nice little kick of spice, but still a fresh from the can/jar quality to it. Overall, not terrible but not worth the price. If there's a promo or coupon, I'd do it again. Maybe I'll go for eat in and see if that's any better? read more

Went here for a get-together with classmates. They offer a decent selection of beers and other drinks. I did not like the fact that to grab a cocktail, one has to go upstairs and order from there, every single time. I am unsure why they cannot serve it downstairs. The food was okay, though not something too special in my opinion, but just enough to match with your alcohol. The place is huge and the noise level is moderate. I am not much of a beer-drinker myself so I probably will not return. If you like locally-brewed beer, go and have a taste by all means! read more

I ordered takeout so I cannot comment on atmosphere or service. I tried out their cheeseburger and curly fries a while back. I was going through receipts and had to stop and think in order to remember Brewhall. It took me a moment to conjure up the memory of, well, how forgettable the food was. It wasn't bad, mind. But it also wasn't good. Vancouver has a lot of trouble making a good burger and Brewhall is pretty mid-tier in an already weak class. You won't regret eating a burger from here, but you probably won't want to come back for more. At least, not if you have a choice. The curly fries were actually decent, but I'm not sure they hold up by themselves. They pair well with other food, be it the burger or some kind of dip, but they don't do so well if you eat just the fries. They taste really good with a mustard/mayo dip. read more

I went during the week so it was dead. I have not been on a weekend and probably wouldn't venture in there unless pressed. I live pretty much next door and there's always a huge line up and it seems pretty rowdy for a "craft beer" place. The beer was okay, nothing memorable but fine. Staff were okay. No complaints. I guess my point is it's a perfectly okay place but it wouldn't be my first choice for an afternoon beer. It's too big and empty during the week and too loud and millennial on weekends.
