    Olives and beer
    Lindsey D.

The food is ok. The beer is ok. The service is not ok. Don't get me wrong, the 3-4 times I've visited, the servers are just "fake nice", "fake attentive". Like... you really want to hit the 10% tip button but the only time they are "trying harder"  is when they hand you that machine and hover over you and guilt you not press the not 10%. On the positive, I do like their olives here, and I appreciate the toothpick that is suggested to consume olives. That is all.

First time we went for brunch, we all got food at diff times, one person never got theirs after 90 mins so drinks got refunded. We went back to try again and my breakfast poutine was literally dry tots with an egg, no gravy or anything, but the staff never come back to check on you. Kinda grumpy too.

R&B Brewing has been on my list to try; we randomly parked near it for a lunch one Wednesday afternoon so I guess it was meant to be. It's close by to Electric Bicycle Brewing. We dropped in around 3:30pm and the place was reasonably busy. They have a patio with a nice setup but it was empty due to the rain. The inside itself is cosy with lots of seating and booths to choose from. We picked the seats by the piano and books/National Geographic magazines. There were a dozen beers on tap (with two guest cider taps). There also was food with a couple specials for the day (nachos and chicken wings). The growlers, bottles and merchandise is tucked away in the back. 6 growler flavours to choose from. - Flight ($6.50) - gose (#6), shake yo fruity IPA (#4), Barry white IPA (#3) and Jalisco cidre (#10). The cider is an extra $0.50 in a flight. The Jalisco cider was delicious. Real lime cider sweetened with agave syrup. The gose was a salted sour (tart wheat beer with Himalayan sea salt and dry hopped with cashmere). The shake yo fruity interestingly contained lactose. The white IPA was my least my favourite; quite hoppy and not up my alley.

Thursday ribs - super tender and juicy. Baked potato had the right texture, and the salad was light and fresh.

R&B has a great community feel to it. Most of the seating is designed to get people sitting together - either at a long communal table, or lounge-style, around rustic coffee tables. Service is casual and friendly. Order and pay at the counter means no waiting to settle your tab later. This is helpful for when the place is busy. Most importantly, there's a great selection of brews (I enjoyed the Tod Cider), and food is stellar. The rib special is available on Thursdays, and is worth going out of your way for.

This is a great brewery to stop in for a variety of beer and tasty pizza. I haven't tried all their beer yet, but they have a nice selection. I was satisfied with my choice. The pizza hit the spot! We shared the mushroom pizza and the beef pizza - both were delicious. The environment is cozy with some eclectic decor, and if you're there at the right time in the evening you get to hear the live piano music. It's a busy and popular place, so the noise level is high. Also, it's a bit pricier than other spots, but worth it.

After dinner, my friend suggested we go to R&B for beer. I forgot to mention craft beer is not my thing. I was impressed that while you wait for a seat that they give you samples, we tipped of course. That's when I figured I may not like the beer. Once something becomes available they let you know, and it's up to you to find it. They don't really seat you, as much as they point out that some people left, so there's room. We both decided to get cider. I really enjoyed the tropical pineapple but not the apple. The ambiance is ...grungy lol. This place isn't my style and doesn't have any type of beer I would enjoy, but may you will. I'm not taking off any stars for beer, b/c it is what it is. They serve what they make. If you like craft beer why not give them a go?

What a phenomenal location! In the summer, there's an outdoor seating area which is literally right by the water, and the view is gorgeous. And in cooler months, the restaurant interior is amazing, as they suspended a lot of vibrant, arresting neon signs from the ceiling, reminiscent of the downtown Tokyo alleyways and street scenes. Whoever did the interior design of this place, my hat's off to you! It's incredibly effective and eye-catching. Now for the food review....wow, it's super good. They specialize in skewers here, and you can get all sorts of shish kebab-like skewers, for a wide range of price points, too. But the dish that really blew my kid and I away was the grilled eggplant. I can't say enough good things about this dish. It was absolutely delicious, and we'd go back again for this dish alone. Our server was lovely and very patient in describing all the various skewers and plates. Oh, and I really liked the service-wear and pottery, too. Very authentic. When my kid and I dined here, the restaurant was fairly new and it didn't have its liquor license yet, but when I last passed here on my seawall walks, I noticed a sandwich board outside the door advertising its Happy Hour specials. So I assume they have their liquor license now. This a a great little restaurant with a great ambiance in a great area. What a wonderful addition to the neighborhood!

Our family of four showed up at the door and were quite agitated by the AWOL... really messed up our Xmas Eve plan. I called and left voice messages and never got a call back from anyone explaining why we were not given any notice. And couple days ago their Wechat Official Account left a message saying the restaurant in Yaletown has now paused their operations. Pity to see the bar gone. But on Google and Apple, it still shows they are open. Let me know if I am fooled

Plenty of beef slices and enoki mushroom. I really have to recommend this dish. Also had a pile of their skewers. Taiwanese sausage, chicken gizzard, and 2 flavours of wings. Not the cheapest, but similar in pricing to the competition. Everything got gobbled up. Delicious. Honestly I wish more people knew about this place. I think the only thing stopping them is the rather "bad" (not too visible) location. The 5 star rating for dinner remains.

Went for their lunch ayce buffet. It used to be 16.88 but now they upped it to 18.88…read more The first time I went there was crab and braised pork belly. The second time there were clams and lamb neck? The things that were the same: tomato egg, dumplings, steamed baos, chineze fried donut, and cold dishes like bean sprouts, smashed cucumbers, tea egg, tofu dessert. They also have hot soy milk for drinks. Their deep fried chinese donut has got to be the best I've ever had in my life. With the price of a pair of fried donut being over $6 these days, I get my fix here. Other things are standard, good but not outstanding. I really like having soy milk to drink instead of water. $18.88 is getting a little steep for a limited choice buffet with not too many meat choices. The crab/clam are a nice addition but if there are days without it, it wouldn't be worth. I would rate the food from this place higher than the similar chinese lunch box style place in richmond, K squared mansion.
