Come for the beer selection and burgers and fries but skip the pizza. My partner ordered the Detroit style pizza but the crust was thinner than expected and the toppings were under the cheese which we don't prefer since the toppings stay soggy. I have been here several times already and haven't written a review. Was just there last night for a smash burger and it's truly one of the most delicious smash burgers I've had! Highly recommend! I had their Drunken Kettle smash and it had the perfect combination of flavours and everything I like in a burger. We stopped here on a Sunday afternoon around 12pm. They seem to be running low and out of a few menu options by this time (no onion rings or cherry lemonade beer). Good selection of beers but average food. We tried the fried pickles, Nashville hot chicken sandwich, hot wings, and fish tacos. All were OK but nothing to rave about. We came here for some drinks during our bike ride along the North Shore Spirit Trail. They have quite a bit of outdoor seating which was nice. We ordered a beer flight and a burger/fries to share. **GROUPON REVIEW** The Hubs and I purchased and Groupon and decided to redeem it before expiry. The brewery is situated in an industrial park, and at the end of a building row. Parking is a bit sparse in the lot, but tons of free street parking in the main roads. The brewery is a no-frills kind, where it has less decor and accomodation items (heat lamps, fire pit, board games, etc). We walked in and noticed a alcohol station and a food truck with a huge banquet tent. Most of the seats were filled inside and the banquet tent. We walked inside and were given the choice to share the other end of the picnic bench inside or picnic bench inside the banquet tent. We opted for the inside since it's still winter. The Groupon entitled us to 2 beer flights, a growler and a fill. Since they have 8 beers on tap, we just got one each to try before fulfilling our growlers. Service was quick and accommodating. Music is playing via a couple of speakers. The beers review: White IPA: easy to drink, nice summer IPA Apple Kolsh: can taste a refreshing apple flavour. A little bitter end note. Cran Hefeweizen: Can't taste too much of cranberry, and it kind of doesn't match with Hefeweizen. IPA: as generic as it can get. For an IPA, it is pretty gold standard. Every IPA should taste like this - caramel, rusty end notes. Session: great for summer time, a little bit of a beginning sour note, light, a higher hop. Pale Ale: another generic name. It tastes like its name. Lager: see Pale Ale. Nitro stout: dark, but lack chocolate and coffee notes. Overall, it is a nice experience. We hope the beers differentiate themselves more in the future. We may come back again when we are in the area. read more

One of the more bare bones breweries out there. Parking is available in front of the warehouse. If it weren't for the windows, the inside would feel like a storage room. There is a tank (doesn't look functional), a piano (are we allowed to touch it?), and a canoe up in the air. Seating is plentiful in the numerous picnic benches, and the place seems dog-friendly. Staff were friendly and helpful. Their flights consist of 4 beers, but they only had 3 brews available when I went, so I had to double up. A bit strange. The beer is half decent, but nothing really stuck out for me. I'll be back in the future. Hopefully they'll have a 4th brew by then. read more

This was my favorite place on North Van Brew Tour. Locations is middle of nowhere but absolutely perfect. Their is a ton of seating including picnic tables and high tables. Wonderful service and super happy customers. There is a piano which my friend played and had requests by other patrons. The atmosphere is super chill and everyone was very lovely. I stuck with the Pale Ale and I loved it. 2 beers in and I could have stayed all night; however, the place closes at 7 so make sure you get there in time! I will absolutely come back. I finally made it to this out of the way brewery and boy am I glad I did. I was impressed by the quality of the brews and even though there was no real atmosphere to speak of, I stayed for a glass. The tasters were free. They had an IPA, wheat ale and pale ale on tap and all were very elegantly understated but not boring and finished well. The tasting room area still needs some work, the high tables were for standing only and were not bolted down. The bar area could seat a few but the whole look was messy and could be cleaned up a bit. They have a roll-up garage door for the warmer weather so there is definitely potential to make this place into a destination for cyclists and drivers alike. This is one of those 'out of the way' gems that you hear about. I was lucky that a good friend of mine we stop by there this last Friis​. I admit​ it's an unusual location, but very relaxed with a lot of places to sit down. The staff is​​ friendly​ and the ​whole place just has a great vibe to it. I did not try the food on this occasion so this is purely based on​ the location, atmosphere, beer quality and the staff. I stuck to the pale ale this trip and will try something a little different next time. They do have shorter hours and are not what I would​ consider a "bar" or a "pub". I had high hopes. I booked a group of 20. We made arrangements for me to have the food truck open later and for a staff member to take care of our party two hours after closing for an agreed upon fee. I arrived 25 minutes before the booking to blank stares. No one knew we were coming. The food truck was closing early. And there was no help or sense of urgency. The bartender just started texting Bryan the owner who made the agreement. She was just blank and even said that this experience was hard on her. I said 'imagine how I feel?!" I asked if if she was going to accommodate us and she just kept repeating the same thing. It was a Saturday night, so I had to call multiple restaurants until I found one close by that could take us. Then I had to message and call everyone from my group to reroute them and I was rerouting those that arrived in the parking lot. At this time, Bryan the manager who had arranged everything and clearly dropped the ball, texted me that he was sorry that there was a "misunderstanding" and then he himself misquoted the original agreement. Basically pinning it on me. Yet there wasn't even the agreed upon section for my group and there was no staff and the truck was closing an hour early. In the end, three people didn't make it to my dinner because the brewery closed at 8:00 pm and they found themselves in an empty parking lot. They just went home. Unfortunately they didn't have Facebook which is where I organized this event primarily. Fortunately a few people were rerouted by the staff of the Brewery for which I was very grateful. In having spent about an half hour there, I would assess their decor as institutional. Very bare bones. Just a garage door to the outside. Also, it's in an industrial area which is very dark and deserted in the evening. And I had to taxi to it. Of the staff I saw one was very warm and caring and the other was cold and apathetic with no problem solving skills or sense of urgency. I certainly didn't experience any charm or warmth of venue. It was only one fellow who actually said "sorry this happened." And he was truly kind. I thanked him so much. read more

There are lots of microbrews in Vancouver. We were staying in North Van and relying on foot and public transport. Black Kettle was within walking distance of the marina our rental houseboat was located and they had a groupon. Those influenced our decision to visit. It's in an industrial area, about a 20 minute walk from Lonsdale Quay. They have parking and transit seems to go fairly close by. They Black Kettle Brewing company is located on the far side of a business complex. The garage door was open, and people seated at picnic tables and at the bar. We got two flights, so had the chance to try all their beers. The service was super friendly and so was everyone there. They do have a food menu. We had just eaten, but ordered their twice fried fries. They were so good and went well with the beer! We enjoyed all the beers! And the atmosphere itself. We spoke to the brewer on the way out. He was really knowledgeable and passionate about beer! So we got the chance to try this place out! If we're in North Vancouver, again, we will go back! read more

Good beer, enjoyed the blonde, husband really liked his as well, Kentucky something. Ordered 2 bacon cheeseburgers with fries. Had to take the order slip over myself to the food truck only to be told they're out of burgers. Apparently the dude with the ponytail and big beard knew but forgot to tell us. I got a "my bad" from him when I went back up. Maybe put something on the big chalkboard when you're out of something? Didn't have to wait too long for the food. It was average. Worst food in the last few years even for pub food. I have been in the industry for a few decades; this was almost irresponsible. The bar is so low here. Come for the beer only but if you have drunk enough the grease will help. Had a cod burger - with fries- avoid at all costs. Not more than a finger worth of fish - sent it back came back blaming it on the supplier? Seriously. Sent it back. Same again. Grease beyond including the soggy greasy fries. No offer to replace or reimburse and I could not bothered to ask. The barkeep was really not interested in my feedback. Beer is ok- had much better. Good for dogs btw. As grassroots as it gets. Just two cool dudes, a bunch of tanks and cool customers. Phil (owner) is usually the dude working when we stop by. Super chill, he gives generous free tasters. Rather than an off the rack growler fill station, watch Phil take your growler straight to a storage tank, sit down, hook up the hose and fill 'er up. Now that's awesome. Their staples are their Pale Ale and IPA. I think they have a black IPA in the works and a few other seasonal ones. On my list visit pre or post the holidays, another customer gave us some cookies she had made. Love the North Shore community. read more
