Mac + Cheese
Rachel K.

Large restaurant, good vibe , a bunch of bar games. We had a really big group but they had our table ready right away and service was quick. Everyone enjoyed their food , I especially liked the chicken burger and Mac & cheese.

I don't drink but my partner does and we struggle to find breweries with a good food menu. Brewhall has great food options and a late night happy hour menu that includes small plates! We got the korean style fried chicken and it was very flavourful and perfect shareable snack. It was nice and quiet on a Sunday night, we found paid street parking easily. I enjoy this location and we come back often for their happy hour.

The food is always consistent and the servers are really friendly! I got the cheeseburger and crinkle fries. There was also plenty of seating which was great!

Buffalo wings

The place was so nice and relaxing we stopped here twice on our trip. First when we arrived and also right before we left to go back home. The wings were great, we ordered them both times. One salt and pepper and one buffalo. Cooked perfectly, nice crisp skin, even when covered in sauce. Beer selection is pretty decent, though the second time we stopped in(after the weekend), I struck out in beer. They were out of the first three I picked. Both times we came it was fairly empty as it was the middle of the day, the service was decent. For the amount of people that were in there it could have been better, but I get it, it's kind of a lax spot. There's plenty of tvs for all of the sports games which was nice. I can see this place being a lively spot in the evening, plenty of games and a nice patio out back. The food was probably what stood out. The chicken sandwich was bomb. Mac and cheese bites were good(we ordered a side of queso to dip the mac n cheese in, highly recommend). Poutine was probably the best we had on the trip. Over all I would definitely swing in here again next time we come up. The pizza was good, though I think the garlic drizzle was a bit much(it did look pretty), probably didn't need it at all....and the pizza could have been a little more well done. But who am I kidding, it's pizza and what didn't eat there I took with me and ate later. I strongly recommend stopping in here and getting the food. Everything we had was great! Servers were friendly, but could have swung by a little more often.

Amazing vibe , open space and great food. Our server so nice that we loved the whole service. We got nachos and crusty cauliflower to start with. Nachos were great but that cauliflower was heaven! We had their local beer and it was refreshing! Next we moved to chicken tacos and wow! So delicious! Overall, loved it!

Fantastic spot for beer lovers!! The huge space allows for group activities but can also get loud on the weekends because they have a DJ and a small dance floor that opens up as the night goes on. If you are looking to have a nice quiet conversation, don't visit on a Friday or Saturday evening. Having said that, Brewhall is exactly what you need for a night of drinking and dancing. Their food is as good as their craft beers and they have vegetarian as well as vegan options. Service is quick and the staff are always friendly!

Side of building~

Decent brewery place in Olympic Village area. Parking is available on the side streets, specifically S of 2nd Avenue. I think there's pay parking underneath the building. The place looks quite similar to the previous incarnation (Steel Toad), and the anvil is still hanging out there in front. The layout is pretty much the same as before. Bar area in the bottom, quieter seating upstairs. They have some old school pinball machines and a skeeball machine in the corner. Not sure if I'd touch this stuff during the pandemic though. Staff were friendly. No complaints there. The beer selection wasn't as large as I thought it would be. As of the time of writing there were 4 signature (regular) brews and 3 seasonals. Overall the beers were tasty. The Beliner weisse uses syrup. They used a bit too much of it to be honest. Hopefully the owner sees this. I also had a chance to try the deep fried pickles and pretzel. Special mention for both. Definitely one of the better ones (both items) I've had around town. Worth the few bucks if one wants a snack. Overall not a bad choice. I'll be back at some point. Recommended.

Service was great, our server was so friendly and checked in to make sure we got everything! A lot of beers and bites to choose from. The poutine was great, loved the gravy.

Cheeseburger pizza with ranch - sooo good

Came here with some friends for drinks and dinner on a busy Friday night and we did enjoy it here. It had good vibes, fun energy, and pretty good service for how busy they were. It did get a bit loud so I wouldn't recommend if you are hard of hearing. They have a large beer selection with several sours which we appreciated. I got the cheeseburger pizza and a side of ranch and it was amazing. The pizza kinda tasted like an in-n-out burger so I was in heaven. Also the ranch was definitely made in house and was to die for. Would definitely come back here again!

Okay, I Love Brewhall! It's probably one of my top spots in Vancouver as a whole! Situated in the perfect spot, right on west 2nd and Quebec St (right near Earnest ice cream, the water, craft and main st station), it's a great spot to meet up with friends. Happy hour has some great bites for a good price (just not on Saturdays). Their burgers are sooo good, and their fries come in a few options (curly, dirty and more!). You can get the curly fries at no additional charge. Their burger and fries is about $14 (which is a pretty good price for the quality). They'll often have live music or at least pumping music in the background. Brew "hall" is a giant food hall with two levels, a ton of picnic bench seating - and of course lots of plexiglass to make you feel safe during covid times. The beer is also delish with lots of collabs with local breweries! My favorite sour is the Azedo sour! They've also got Jell-O shots which can make for a fun night out with friends. Whenever I suggest brewhall to my friends, they are always down! - and there's a reason for that! The service is always good, vibes are 10/10 and they've got plenty of food on the menu to satisfy any craving!

Considering we went on a Friday evening without a reservation, I was surprised to find that we were seated almost immediately. The inside of the palace looks like an old timey brewery that has been renovated but still has the old esthetics. The happy hour had a lot of options for both food and drinks. The pizZa was delicious and the best food to share among friends. The service was a little slow but they were really busy. Definitely a great spot for a fun evening!

An awesome spot in the Olympic village area if you have a big group. Brewhall has always accommodated us with their long tables. Service is always nice but sometimes slow and you have to flag them down for cutlery and water sometimes. Beer and drinks have been consistently good. Food isn't bad but can be a little pricey. Had the fully loaded nachos ($20) and added guac ($4). Good for 2 people.

Had a great time with friends here tonight to shot the breeze and watch the Canucks game. Lots of tv monitors to catch all the actions and it was nice that the sound was not blasting but just right. Majority of the group order burgers and beers and all enjoyed. I had a hard time deciding which beer so our wonderful waitress offered us a sampling. I tried 2 and settled on the seasonal pale ale with rhubarb, lemon and ginger. It was absolutely refreshing and delicious. Tasted all the notes with the lemon always lingering lightly behind. If you like a shandy then you would like this beer. My friend had the hibiscus wit beer and it was also very good. I ordered the forager burger (with truffle aioli, local wild mushrooms, caramelized onions, brie cheese, arugula) and added dirty fries. The burger was juicy and the truffle aioli really elevated this burger. My friend had the Korean chicken burger and also gave 2 thumbs up. I really like their attention to details to ensure hygiene like the half open paper wrap to hold the burger so easier to eat and hand sanitizer spray for everyone immediately after using the credit card machine.

Jenga, beer and fried pickles.

The salmon bowl was excellent -- it came with edamame, carrots, radishes. The salmon itself was super fresh and flavorful. I also really liked the chicken bites. I thought it was a mirage at first, but I walked up and touched it so I knew it was real. And it was exactly what we needed after a not insignificant amount of walking around Vancouver (we were touristing) and it was lunch time. Stanley Park Brewing is larger inside than it appears outside. With its outdoor seating and multiple public and private dining rooms its footprint is roughly the size of Rhode Island. (ok, maybe not THAT big...but it is expansive). Stanley Park Brewing is located not far from the entrance to Stanley Park so the views and the surroundings were all very beautiful. A tall clump of trees over here, a some flowering bushes over there...just lush greenery in every direction...and tennis courts. The entire area was clean and well maintained. When we arrived we were told there would be about a 15 (US) minute wait, but that 15 (US) minutes turned into about 5, as we were seated almost immediately at a table adjacent to the bar. The weather was amazing that day (about 72° F) so all the doors and windows were open so there was plenty of fresh air and a nice breeze. Our server arrived with cold water (muchly needed!) and gave us the beer and food menus. Congo and I opted for a flight of beers and the Smokey Island pizza because the maple candied bacon bits, charred pineapple, and jalapeño caught my attention. (Relax, people, it was personal pan pizza size.) For my flight of four I chose: SunSetter Peach Wheat Ale, Waypoint Hazy Pale Ale, Parklandia Hazy IPA, and Noble Pilsner. Each was very good with its own unique tastes and flavour palettes. Our food orders took about 15 minutes to arrive and the food was hot and accurate. The Smokey Island pizza was *Chef's Kiss*, while the SunSetter Peach Wheat Ale from my flight was so good I had to get a pint as well. Our server (Jordan) who was also the bartender. Jordan was knowledgeable about the beers and was able to answer any questions about menu without having to consult someone else. He also suggested the Smokey Island pizza, and for that alone he and I can be good friends. The entire staff was constantly in motion, whether sitting new guests, handling drink refills, cleaning tables, or anything else. Great teamwork all around. What started as a chance visit turned into one of our favorite lunch stops in Vancouver. Congo and I thank you.

But don't sleep on Squamish's limited-but-delicious food scene. A solid place to start is Backcountry Brewing, a blink-and-you'll-miss-it bar and restaurant on the back side of the towns main shopping plaza. Since debuting in 2017, Backcountry has been a British Columbia beer darling; now, Backcountry prides itself on an ambitious lineup of limited-release beers. From the outside, the converted warehouse blends in with the rest of the industrial block. But inside, Backcountry is lively and inviting. The accents sport a tan and teal color palette. The bar to the right is decked with retro bulbs and a letterboard menu. Sound-dampening panels and camo-shaded lamps hang down from the soaring exposed HVAC. Each table is decked with a laminated BC map and mid-century modern chairs. Eighties tunes echo around the halls. My partner and I visited Backcountry after a full day of hiking, ready to chow down; we ordered a sandwich, a pizza, and a few flights. The Soprano -- Italian Sando was piled high with capicola, mortadella, and prosciutto cotto on a fluffy, poppyseed-laden foccacia. Our side of Five Guys-style, wedge-cut fries was rich and salty, and we loved each one of Backcountry's house-made sauces more than the last. The Meat Your Maker pizza was a deliciously nostalgic riff on the classic meat-lovers pizza. The thin crust stood up against the hefty helping of toppings, and the poofy cornicione paired perfectly with the exciting sauces. On the brewery side, the flights proved to be a fun deal. Across the beers, I was most impressed by the sours. Our collective favorite was the "Plan B? We Need A Plan C, D, E, We Need More Alphabets" (a basil-forward pineapple sour), while the "I'll Take You To the Candy Shop" (a peach-centric sour) and the "Might As Well Go For A Soda" (a gummy cola-esque cherry sour) were strong competitors. Meanwhile, the non-sour beers I tried were relative duds, including the "Never Taken A Shortcut Before?" oatmeal stout and the Sneaky Peach Cider. The service was friendly but somewhat inattentive throughout the meal, and the bill came to about $60 (after tax and tip). More than anything else, Backcountry satisfied -- it achieved the ideal brewery balance of fun, elevated, and casual. After our stay in Whistler, I admittedly had low expectations for Squamish, but Backcountry Brewing was a beyond-pleasant surprise, and I surely would visit again.

Parking is available along Hastings, as well as the side streets. The inside still looks a lot like a tropical themed bar, with all the bamboo trim. Definitely different vibe from the Squamish (ski chalet) theme. There is a S facing outdoor (not covered) patio as well, which should probably be pretty decent if one doesn't mind getting a pile of sun to the face. Staff are friendly. Their draft beer selection is maybe 1/3 less than the Squamish location, but that is expected. It is a long drive from Squamish after all. The pizzas here are available all day (they are only available after 1500 at the Squamish location), which is super awesome. I got to try 2 of them. These pizzas are the thin crust (Neopolitan?) type. Longshoreman - grilled chicken and sundried tomato. The basil was fresh and green. Nice blend overall. Brewer's select - basically a meat lover's type. Peperoni, bacon, and chorizo. They were pretty generous with the toppings. A bit on the salty side, but every meat lover's is like this. Tasty. Lastly, the poutine was pretty decent. Fries were nice and crisp, and there was just the right amount of cheese curds and gravy. In other words, not dry but also not soggy. My friends and I left stuffed and happy. Another special special mention is that this place is open late all 7 days (most things around here close at 2100 or earlier), which is worth a special mention. Recommended.
