Maybe there is a parking lot that is more convenient, but it wasn't obvious for me so we used street parking. We did the birthday mini shoot and it was totally fabulous! The vibe is great, the decor is awesome. There's a great selection of spots and props to take pictures with. They supplied the cake which was one less thing to worry about for myself. We even got to take it home and it was delicious. The pictures had an incredibly fast turn around time and are totally adorable. We also got a lot! We will be back!

That event featured an impressive turnout, especially considering that the Jewish population in the Carson Valley is considered by some to be a bit light. At the same time, I ran into someone I knew from the old Jewish Business Lunch (Walnut Creek), gave some tips to a couple who were new to the area, and was impressed that several politicos showed up. The Plaza itself is modest, yet spacious and comfortable. And that little bit of light in a world with more darkness lately was a welcome respite. Many thanks to Rabbi Sputz and Chabad for putting on this very socially pleasing event, with a full dose of Ruach.

North and South Tahoe were really booked or ridiculously expensive in the summer so Carson City is a good alternative and not too far esp if you're planning to go to Reno anyways. We arrived early evening and checked in quite quickly. We got a 2 queen bed suite with a kitchen that's bigger than a kitchenette but obviously not a full sized kitchen but the fridge was full sized which was nice. Beds were firm but not too hard, room was clean but not immaculate, although I didn't look super closely at the corners and behind closet doors etc. Bathroom was clean and shower water pressure was good. After a good night's sleep we were ready for breakfast. Unfortunately, there was NO hot breakfast on that Sunday morning which was weird and no warm (even microwaved sandwiches would've been nice) alternatives nor explanation was given. So there was salad, cold hard boiled eggs, cottage cheese, breads and condiments, bacon bits, cereal and fruits and unpackaged yogurt. Overall, it was a pretty nice hotel. We didn't get to swim in their pool, but in the back they did have a decent sized pool, a spa with hot jets that were strong (we dipped our feet into it), and a nice seating area with a gazebo and some grassy area for furry friends and children. I can see us staying here again.

I was literally only in my room for a couple hours to sleep since we had went to reno for hours to play at the arcade and walked around. We left the room clean. But they charged me for smoking in the room, which i didnt smoke in my room. Because they said they found green stuff on the floor. Not ash or a cigarette. I called to complain but pretty sure im getting charged anyways. I was so excited to spend some time with my kids but now we wont come back. Highly disappointed! They said the room stunk. The only thing that smelled to me were our clothing we had worn to the casino. So i guess a warning you cant even wear smelly clothes in there or they think you were smoking and charge you. Seeing as i have never been charged that anywhere else and i stay in several different rooms a year at any other hotel, i wont be back. I had stayed at a fairfield hotel in Sacramento the night before with no problems til we stayed here.

Upon our arrival, there was plenty of parking both in front of the casino, and in an adjoined parking garage. The exterior of the casino was clean and appeared quite safe. This was an easy casino to access both from downtown Carson City and it was easy to get back on the main highway. While all of the Reno/Carson City casinos seemed pretty similar to me, I appreciated this one due to the non-smoking area. During my four days in the area, I experienced many casinos, and I couldn't get away from the smoke smell in most of them. In this casino, there is a well-ventilated non-smoking area just to the right side of the front door. I popped in there and would have felt comfortable for a good period of time without being bothered by smoke. For those who enjoy gambling and may be affected by smoke, I highly recommend that you visit Fandango and see if you enjoy the experience as much as I did.

We knew that indoor soccer is aggressive as we have an older daughter who played for several years in a different state. The referees where we used to play may have missed some calls, however never was a player left on the field when they were down and injured. Tonight my son was shoved by a straight arm push into the boards. No call was made even when my son did not get up. The parents, coach and players were all screaming at the referee that a player was down and still the referee ignored the fact that a player was not getting up. When the opposing team's goal keeper finally got the referee's attention, the referee finally stopped the play to check on the player. When my son still was not able to get up unassisted, our coach was called over to help him off the field. This athletic center was ill equipped to handle injuries even though this is a contact sport. Their first aid kit did not contain ice packs to provide basic first aid. This is not the first occurrence with poor game management and refereeing by the assigned official. Having been involved with soccer for many years and having a husband who is a certified referee this brings up the question of what level of proficiency the officials associated with this establishment actually possess?

As a result of that…read moreoccasion, some dear friends bought us a beautiful Breville espresso machine, and once setup, I knew I needed some special espresso cups to go with it. I decided I wanted some locally made ceramic cups and I wasn't too picky about their overall look. So I searched for nearly three years, looking in every ceramics studio and art gallery I came across, even asking every local potter I knew if they made them or knew someone who did. All in all, I came up empty. Over the Thanksgiving holiday that beautiful woman I married and I took our folks to visit the Carson Valley. Coming out of McFadden Plaza I spotted this art gallery, so we popped in to look around. We met owners and artists, Robin and Rich, who happily told us about all the artwork in the shop, and Rich even played us some tunes on his phonograph while sharing some history. As we were about to leave I spotted a small blue ceramic mug on a table by a window. It was exactly the sort of thing I'd been searching for over the past three years. I lifted it up and asked Robin about it. She explained it was a piece made to illustrate the cobalt blue glaze. It came out well enough that they put it on this table to sell. Immediately I asked if there were more, explaining the hunt Id been on to find something like it. Robin said follow me, and walked me into the back of the shop where they have their pottery studio, and showed me a peg board with several dozen of them hanging. All samples of various glazed and clay combinations used solely for illustrative purposes. I'd found them! To be sure they'd hold enough liquid we did a quick test, and then I set out to choose a set to bring home. I picked 8 and called to my wife to help narrow it down to 6. When she saw what I'd found she was just as surprised and said "Get em!" Robin pointed out the writing on the bottom of them and commented that I probably didn't want that on there, to which I replied "I do actually. It's just part of the crazy story of how I found them!" Before letting me walk out, she wrote down each combo so she could replicate the samples, and while she did that I snapped some pics. Robin said "It's a mess back there, no one's going to want to see that." I said the photos were really for me, and are part of the story of where these little cups were born. They also happen to show your learning space and that you offer art classes here too. Find your way to this gallery for some really unique and special pieces of art made by locals. The teapots rich makes and the ceramic vessels Robin makes are absolutely stunning, as are all the other pieces in the store!
