This has popped up (among a few other events), so we decided to visit this first. Again, what a great find. So much art in the historic buildings surrounding the other buildings and throughout the town (murals!). I took very few pictures (can you believe that, lol), as I decided to drive versus walk on this very hot day. Ambiance - Two blocks...? Not just the old brewery, but all the adjoining buildings. And the lot across the street with the stage, see pictures. Lastly, the old church... is not a church any more, lol. Free outdoor summer concerts, see website. Theater, performance hall, exhibit hall, grand ballroom, education wing, etc. Classes, membership; see websites. Small parking lot, but other than the artists, we were the only guests here, lol. Well, the rest of the parking lot is currently being used for this event. Call or check their website for hours. Service - Everyone is so welcoming. Price - Free, thank you! I especially appreciated the nice touch at the end -- the actors taking their time during the curtain call to greet and thank all of the patrons. That made the experience even more personal and memorable. However, my first impression of the venue itself wasn't great. This was my first time visiting, and we had difficulty finding parking since it wasn't clear whether parking across by the church was allowed. We were able to find street parking and walked across. Once we arrived, we had trouble figuring out where to enter for the main stage performance. Unfortunately, the woman at the concessions counter (confections) was not helpful or friendly, which made things even more confusing. We ended up walking back and forth between buildings trying to find the correct entrance. The performance was 5-star, but the venue experience -- especially the initial interaction at the concessions counter -- was disappointing. NO stars. I hope this feedback helps improve the experience for future visitors.

We had Lauren and she is amazing!!! She made us feel comfortable and did so well with our baby. She was positive, upbeat, and just pleasant to be around. The studio is sooo cute. The vibe is great, the decor is awesome. There's a great selection of spots and props to take pictures with. They supplied the cake which was one less thing to worry about for myself. We even got to take it home and it was delicious. The pictures had an incredibly fast turn around time and are totally adorable. We also got a lot! We will be back!

That event featured an impressive turnout, especially considering that the Jewish population in the Carson Valley is considered by some to be a bit light. At the same time, I ran into someone I knew from the old Jewish Business Lunch (Walnut Creek), gave some tips to a couple who were new to the area, and was impressed that several politicos showed up. The Plaza itself is modest, yet spacious and comfortable. And that little bit of light in a world with more darkness lately was a welcome respite. North and South Tahoe were really booked or ridiculously expensive in the summer so Carson City is a good alternative and not too far esp if you're planning to go to Reno anyways. We arrived early evening and checked in quite quickly. We got a 2 queen bed suite with a kitchen that's bigger than a kitchenette but obviously not a full sized kitchen but the fridge was full sized which was nice. Beds were firm but not too hard, room was clean but not immaculate, although I didn't look super closely at the corners and behind closet doors etc. Bathroom was clean and shower water pressure was good. After a good night's sleep we were ready for breakfast. Unfortunately, there was NO hot breakfast on that Sunday morning which was weird and no warm (even microwaved sandwiches would've been nice) alternatives nor explanation was given. So there was salad, cold hard boiled eggs, cottage cheese, breads and condiments, bacon bits, cereal and fruits and unpackaged yogurt. Overall, it was a pretty nice hotel. We didn't get to swim in their pool, but in the back they did have a decent sized pool, a spa with hot jets that were strong (we dipped our feet into it), and a nice seating area with a gazebo and some grassy area for furry friends and children. Upon our arrival, there was plenty of parking both in front of the casino, and in an adjoined parking garage. The exterior of the casino was clean and appeared quite safe. This was an easy casino to access both from downtown Carson City and it was easy to get back on the main highway. While all of the Reno/Carson City casinos seemed pretty similar to me, I appreciated this one due to the non-smoking area. During my four days in the area, I experienced many casinos, and I couldn't get away from the smoke smell in most of them. In this casino, there is a well-ventilated non-smoking area just to the right side of the front door. I popped in there and would have felt comfortable for a good period of time without being bothered by smoke. For those who enjoy gambling and may be affected by smoke, I highly recommend that you visit Fandango and see if you enjoy the experience as much as I did.

It is currently operated by their son (Gayle's cousin) and daughter-in-law as a venue for outdoor weddings and special events. The Orchard House is where Gayle's brother was married a few years ago, and what a memorable event it was. And with the recent engagement of one of her sons, a wedding at these pretty, spacious and well kept grounds may be in the works. Although Gayle and I will be wed in Napa next May, Genoa and the Orchard House remain near and dear to our home town hearts.

CHANTAE WAS A BLESSING. From my first call to checkout she was accommodating, empathetic and so pleasant to deal with. Management and the company would benefit from ensuring she sticks with them. Chantae is knowledgeable, personable, understanding, and quick. Even when I was in the lobby and she was assisting others on the phone, she provided great customer service and went above and beyond with resolving the other customers question and provided additional resources to them when they needed assistance with outside booking companies. Chantae, if you're reading this, with all of the stress with our emergency, your kindness was soooo needed and appreciated. I'm leaving this everywhere! Thank you! The rooms were clean and well stocked. Housekeeping and the front desk staff were super friendly and attentive. When we left the girl from housekeeping ran downstairs to give my husband's wallet her forgot. My kids enjoyed the pool. Beware! Here is why: We decided to sign my son up to play…read moreindoor soccer. We knew that indoor soccer is aggressive as we have an older daughter who played for several years in a different state. The referees where we used to play may have missed some calls, however never was a player left on the field when they were down and injured. Tonight my son was shoved by a straight arm push into the boards. No call was made even when my son did not get up. The parents, coach and players were all screaming at the referee that a player was down and still the referee ignored the fact that a player was not getting up. When the opposing team's goal keeper finally got the referee's attention, the referee finally stopped the play to check on the player. When my son still was not able to get up unassisted, our coach was called over to help him off the field. This athletic center was ill equipped to handle injuries even though this is a contact sport. Their first aid kit did not contain ice packs to provide basic first aid. This is not the first occurrence with poor game management and refereeing by the assigned official. Having been involved with soccer for many years and having a husband who is a certified referee this brings up the question of what level of proficiency the officials associated with this establishment actually possess?
