I've been attending quite a few of birthday celebration gatherings now that Safe Access Oahu enforcement has ended. We usually allow the birthday person to select the venue and this time it was BREW'd craft pub (BCP). Located on the corner of Waialae Ave and 9th Ave with nearby businesses of Leahi Health Kaimuki and Brick Fire Tavern, BCP is a gastropub offering craft brews, cocktails and tapas. Parking in Kaimuki can be challenging so fortunately, several of us carpooled and arrived early to ensure a space in their shared private parking lot. BCP offers indoor and outdoor seating and a friend had made reservations for indoor seating for our party of 10. As we were escorted to our table, I couldn't help noticing their cool interior décor, especially their lighting fixture and various brew taps above. While perusing the menu, our server informed us of their current specials and we went on a Thursday, which also meant their prime rib special. I wasn't hungry that day and a foodie friend highly recommended their beet salad. I also ordered the roasted bell pepper garlic hummus along with Lucky Lyla, a cocktail of Jameson, Maui Brewing Co. ginger beer, honey syrup and lemon. I really enjoyed my cocktail as I found it to be tasty and refreshing. This paired well with my garlic hummus and beet salad. Hands down, the beet salad was a winner and I'd order this again. It was lightly dressed with a vinaigrette where it wasn't overpowering and blended well with the beets and goat cheese balls. The hummus was just okay for me. I appreciated that the chickpeas were not processed too fine - - not a fan of mushy texture. The flavoring of the hummus wasn't anything special for my palate - - it wasn't pronounced. I would have preferred bolder flavorings. As time went by, the business started to fill up but our server did an amazing job attending to our table. A handful of friends ordered the prime rib special, which impressively sold out for the day at only 630pm. Overall, a positive first experience at BCP where I'd be game to come back again. I really enjoyed the ambiance and décor. I'd love to come back with friends for happy hour to wind down after a day's work. read more

Date night... wanted to enjoy a few drinks before dinner. Glad parking available in a lot beside the building. Lots of outdoor seating, with tables and bar seating inside. We took a seat at the bar... perfect view of their brews on tap. Love their variety... about 2 dozen on rotation. Right now, many featured from Maui Brewing Co. (showing community support). I enjoyed a flight... jus request a 4oz so it's a fresh pour each tasting. Appreciated the variety of glassware used too. Our bartender was great... made tasty recommendations on pupus (yummmy chicken wings & brussel sprouts) and answered all our questions. Nice, relaxing vibe here... overhead music playing with a few TV screens too. Would totally visit more often if BREW'd was closer to our neighborhood. read more

Redeeming a gift certificate from an Instagram contest... My friend, Margaret (a non-Yelper), asked me where I wanted to go for lunch. After thinking about it for many, many hours, I came up with an idea to use my Instagram prize of a free appetizer at Brew'd Craft Pub. I had won this Instagram prize back in December 2021. I messaged the business to make sure that I could still redeem this prize because it was about a month and a half ago when I last had contact with Brew'd. I had a message that my reward was still valid! I then asked where the parking was... Because parking is a challenge in Kaimuki. The answer was that there's a free parking lot behind the building on the corner of Waialae and 9th Avenue. The entrance to the parking lot is on 9th Avenue! Yippee! The next step was to let Margaret know that we will be having a late lunch because Brew'd doesn't open until 4:00 p.m. She was fine with it - so I picked her up at 3:30 pm. We got there early and noticed the outdoor seating. We both agreed to sit inside with the air conditioning... And I'm glad we did... The decor is very elegant and beautiful! Tyler was our competent, efficient, and polite server. He explained the Happy Hour specials well and verified my gift certificate. He got the actual certificate from the bartender who was also very friendly and welcoming! Margaret wasn't able to look at the menu with the QR code. (She has an Apple phone.) I had looked at the menu prior to our arrival. I knew I wanted the Beet Salad (thinking that Margaret would enjoy that, too) and the Smoked Fish Dip and Taro Chips (to use the gift certificate). The Teri Burger Sliders and Fries sounded good to me, so - we added that on to our order. Everything was well presented and tasted delicious! The Smoked Fish Dip was spicy for me, so I just ate a few crunchy Taro chips and let Margaret take home the leftovers. The Teri Burger Sliders were juicy and tasty! The Beet Salad was our favorite! We devoured it! I wouldn't mind returning to Brew'd Craft Pub. In fact, I had been here over six years ago with Amy M. She wanted the Fish & Chips. I wanted to visit BREW'd Craft Pub during the When on Waialae Yelp Event last year but never got around to it. Lately, my friend has been into beer and was interested in checking it out. It was both our first time and we had a lovely experience! When we arrived we were seated immediately at the bar after having our vaccination cards checked. The food and drink menu can be found on their QR code. My friend got to try a couple of drinks and we shared the Truffle Fries. We asked for no parmesan cheese and the servers kindly put the aioli on the side since there was cheese in it. The fries also came with their homemade ketchup which was the highlight and highly addicting! The service was friendly and attentive. Parking requirements need to be more obvious and staff should be more conscientious upfront with said requirements (not just something at the back of the menu). Food and drinks were pretty good, especially the goat cheese flatbread and the pickles. However, the risotto (which is a high price menu item) was undercooked which left the rice to be slightly crunchy and the scallops underwhelming. Service could have been more attentive with water refills and the like. Waitresses needed to flagged down quite a few times for service. Found this in my drafts & I can't believe I never posted this review for BREW'd Craft Pub. I attended the Yelp Event While on Waialae and hit up BREW'd with some friends that live in the area. I can say they definitely took the COVID19 precautions seriously, checking all documents closely and enforced social distancing. The Special Chicken and Waffle combo was delicious, I couldn't get enough. The Shepards pie was hearty and tasty. They have lots of specials that all look pretty good. Service was excellent and staff friendly and attentive. This was a fun concept and I got to visit a different location that I wouldn't normally visit so I thank our CM Jess for coordinating this fun event and I look forward to other exciting venues. I've been coming here for years and sadly the service recently has been awful. Great beer options but slowest service ever. Sit at the bar and don't even think of sitting outside. I was seated by the host outside and the server took over 20 minutes to come to our table. It was also not busy inside. I completely understand when it's slammed but this was not the case. I'm seriously about to make this a trend by showing up to bars, not to drink, but to eat! The food here was good! Was longing for a taco salad so we got that. Loved that there was house refried black beans spread all inside the taco shell. As for the slider trio, I think it's best to eat in the order of fish, chicken, brisket. Flavor profile wise, the brisket stood out the most out of the three and made a lasting impression. The fish needed a little more seasoning and the chicken was a little dry. You definitely can't go wrong with their house garlic IPA aioli (drizzled all over the brussel sprouts and cauliflower). And their house ketchup, which I can't describe to you the flavor profile behind it, no matter how many times I dipped my fries into it. There's a secret ingredient in there that makes it so yummy! As for the Irish Car Bomb brownie, the Stout ice cream, Jameson caramel and Bailey's Irish Cream sauce were winners. I just wish that the brownie itself wasn't so hard for our utensils to go through. As for parking, there's less than 20 stalls in the back, or you try your luck with street parking. First time to visit this cozy and comfortable pub. The bartender Kevin is first class reminiscent of the bartenders from pubs in Great Britain!!! Though not in use when I was there they have an Amgran beer pump from the UK!! I have one I brought back years ago from when I lived there so Kevin and I discussed the use of them and how they completely change for the better the taste of beer! I'm looking forward to that day!! Came in right at opening 2pm on a Saturday afternoon with the hubby for lunch. Was greeted by our friendly waitress where we had our temperatures taken, tracking info Logged, and had to provide our id's and proof of vaccination. I was impressed with their thoroughness. Since we were the 1st customers we had our pick of seating and chose a table. After previously browsing the menu before arriving I knew what I wanted to try. We ordered the Beer Braised Brisket Poutine, Buffalo Deviled Eggs, Yelp when on Waialae special chicken & waffle sandwich, and pork sliders. The Beer Braised Brisket poutine was a generous portion with lots of cheese, meat and gravy, and a perfectly fried egg. The fries were soggy and to my surprise not hot. Seeing as we were there right at opening and the items each came out as they were done I was expecting everything to be piping hot. The Beer Braised Brisket was the best thing about this dish other than the perfectly fried egg. There were spots that were super salty too. The Buffalo deviled eggs were interesting. They were covered in panko and deep fried. Again I thought they would have been piping hot but were just warm. The eggs were topped with a small piece of celery, a light drizzle of buffalo sauce, and what I believe was a blue cheese dressing. I think the dish needed more buffalo sauce to be considered a buffalo deviled egg. Also, a blue cheese crumble rather than a dressing would have enhanced the dish. The pork slider were juicy but way too salty! The slaw was definitely needed to tone down all that salt but even with the slaw I couldn't eat but 2 bites. It was a real shame too because the buns were soft and perfectly toasted and the meat was tender and juicy. The best dish by far was the chicken & waffle sandwich! From presentation, to taste, to the awesomely Yelp discounted price (from $12 to $6) this was the star of the meal. The chicken was lightly battered and oh so juicy! The bacon that was artistically placed on top was perfectly crisp. The maple sauce was so good I wanted to lick it off the plate! When I say this is a must try, trust me. The service was great...but we were the only ones there from start to finish so I font know if that says much. The food was kinda disappointing with the exception of the chicken & waffle sandwich. So fortunate that I have this little gem of a neighborhood bar close to my home. Kris, Shane, Max, Jo Ann, Kevin are just some of the wonderful and knowledgeable people there that can steer you to a great libation and snack. There is in and outdoor seating. There is an early HH for me, but they do have canned beer specials that is easy on the wallet all the time. Just ask. The wide selection of beers and ciders are rotating and available in draft and cans. It never gets boring. What's going on? Dropped by recently for day drinking only to find the parking lot in the back was full. This was a weekday at 3 pm! Circling around the block and found a meter stall. Real hassle since I don't have the credit card that's used so I had to get change to feed the meter. Needing a nice cold beer after that it was good to finally enjoy one of the many beers on tap. Unfortunately since most of the beers on tap are local (which I've had and can get anywhere) I was left to the few mainland beers available. I guess like everywhere, prices for beer and food have gone up. Beers run $10-$12 and burgers and sliders are $24. Yikes!! It's not like the glasses are bigger or the burgers larger. It's a real shame because this used to be the standard for brew pubs. Time to look elsewhere. *This review is based on 2 separate visits in July and August and only a few other guests so not clear why the parking lot was full both times. read more

First time here and came for the yelp deal after hiking Makiki! Wow! The $6 chicken and waffle is Fr:!n! Good! The chicken is like a mochiko chicken cooked perfectly and it wasn't a manini size!!! Glad that I finally made it to this place. Besides having the expected outstanding array of quality brews on tap I was super impressed with the food quality. Beef tallow for the fries and home-made ketchup are great indicators of the pride they take. High quality ingredients translating to great tasting eats. The Cauliflower sauce had just the right bite and the burger was right on. For those who prefer a good cocktail, the bartender was quite knowledgeable and had a surprisingly good stock of ingredients for a solid array of offerings not on the menu, which I did not expect. We stopped while on vacation. The bartender was extremely knowledgeable about local beers, along with the imports. I had the fish and chips from the catch of the day. It was marlin and was very tasty. My wife had the special of a Reuben panini. She enjoyed it. Only been here once or twice before even if they're in my neighborhood. Maybe because it seems a specialty spot (i.e. pricey) and for the younger crowd. Maybe because it offers various craft beers, hence the name, and not you basic offerings of beer or spirits. Maybe because it serves different styles of food not usually served in most places. In either case, I have enjoyed each time in come here and definitely will make more of an offer to come back soon. Our last experience was enjoyable. Wife had their $12 Aye Caramba, a habanero infused tequila drink and I a $9 queen street Pilsner. Hers was good but it really was too spicy to have alone, or without food, and we're both fans of spicy food. We had their Brussels sprouts for an app and shared their smashed burger and fries. Both were very good, sprouts topped with bacon and cheese (type?) and the burger cooked nicely with hand cut fries and house made ketchup. We thoroughly enjoyed both. Yes their food and drinks are good. Yes, $9 glass of beer is pricy but the mixed drink and burger were decently priced. Visited Saturday night with a group of friends for the When on Waialae Yelp event. They didn't take reservations when I called ahead but there was no wait since we came early around 515pm. They offered seating inside or outside, checked vaccine card / drivers license and temperature. Good parking options in the back. They have a great selection of beers. Many local favorites! First off, the ketchup here is amazing. I forgot what they put in it like an IPA or beer, but regardless the depth of flavor is depth of flavoring fr dawg. Beers obviously depend on what you prefer but i tried an ale, sour, and IPA and they were solid. Food was good as well, nice simple bar food. Inside was warm and welcoming, so was the staff. Aloha! I had a very bad experience tonight! Server Mariah C, charged us for 2 shots that we did not have. She was not very apologetic about it and came off very rude to us the whole night! Just cause we were ordering only drinks and not food! I think she misjudged us based on how we look "local". We are very thrown off and we are Kaimuki residents! We have come to Brewd for years and to be treated this way and with an attitude the whole night is not acceptable. We know a lot of the original Brewd workers, who no longer work there but they all treated us well and never like this! We miss Kevin, Shane, Katie. It's gone downhill since. Mariah did not represent Brewd well and was very rude and judged us locals the whole night! She slammed the drinks down, wasn't apologetic about the double charge, and didn't give us a bag with our take out. You guys should hire better! Because she isn't a good server at all! "Life is only as good as the people you get to share it with." - Darren Criss We were invited to BREW'd Craft Pub to celebrate the birthday and the recent retirement of two friends. Of course, we were excited to join the celebrations and more so excited to make a return to BREW'd Craft Pub, where we've not been since 2014. We remembered this pub was opened by owners Troy Terorotua and Lisa Kim as a sister location to their REAL Gastropub in Kaka'ako but learned that in December 2021, the pub changed ownership. The new owners, Nick, and Kristen Keech, have retained the existing staff and continue to perpetuate the BREW'd brand. Our group of thirteen friends reserved seating indoors to take advantage of the air-conditioning, proximity of the bar and kitchen, and Happy Hour. Upon entry, staff immediately greeted us, and we found our way to the reserved seating. We scanned the menu QRC while our server, Shane, offered helpful recommendations for food and beverage selections after inquiring about our taste preferences. I couldn't help but order my namesake beverage, "Lucky Lyla." The Lucky Lyla cocktail appeals to my palate with Jameson, ginger beer, honey syrup, and fresh lemon, and I think it is close to other cocktails called "The Penicillin" or "Bees Knees." I expected the Lucky Lyla to be served in a whiskey glass, but instead, the cocktail was poured into copper mugs similar to a Moscow Mule. The cocktail was light and refreshing, but I resisted the urge to order another because as the evening moved on, a group of us decided to have dessert at nearby Via Gelato. My husband ordered a locally brewed beer since he planned on ordering several fried appetizers and sharing the Prime Rib dinner special with me. FOOD: -Szechuan Cauliflower: Spicy Szechuan battered and fried cauliflower fleurets were served with house-made garlic IPA aïoli and topped with toasted cashews. I liked the fried textures of the battered cauliflower and the medium-hot spiciness of this dish. Maybe this appetizer was too healthy for my husband, but he just picked at it, although he agreed with the taste. $11 -Truffle Fries: The fries were described as crispy hand-cut, and that's all it took for my husband to order them. Unfortunately, the fries weren't as crisp or hot out of the fryer as we expected during the Happy Hour. This appetizer featured shavings of Parmesan cheese and a ramekin of black truffle aïoli. It was flavorful, just not crispy or hot. $11 -Prime Rib Special, Thursdays Only: We shared the slab of tender, juicy, and tasty prime rib, which came with steamed mixed vegetables, herbed mashed potatoes, and au jus. We asked for medium-rare, but I think our prime rib was slightly more done, but it was okay. Besides, we couldn't finish it and took home the leftovers to make sandwiches the following day. It was still a good value-priced at $29. Others around us ordered other appetizers or salads, which we tasted while sharing our appetizers. I think the new owners have kept the same ambiance and service that we remembered from our previous visits. It was a convivial evening of celebration and friendship that we were glad to have been part of. We'd consider returning for Happy Hour again the next time we're in the Kaimukī neighborhood. read more

I've been here before, this is the first time I was disappointed. Truffle fries didn't seem to have the Truffles, so they redid it. Since they re did it, (because the chef was new and did t remember what he put in it). I asked them to add garlic. They used truffle oil and garlic powder. I prefer real garlic and truffles, not the same. Brussel sprouts were really salty. Tacos were fine. read more

I recently moved to St. Louis heights (96816 baby!) and I think I found my new watering hole! Brew'd craft pub has an awesome bar inside with plenty of seats and a huge chalkboard menu with at least 20 different beers on tap (mostly local beers)! I also love that they have outdoor seats and I have seen people bring their dogs. If you plan on ordering food, make sure you ask if they have any specials because last Wednesday they had a special Portobello mushroom lasagna with Bolognese sauce and layers of ricotta and goat cheese and it was divine!! Came by in the late evening to get a few beers with some friends. It was busy when we got there, but we were lucky to get a table for 6 for outside seating. Brew'd is located in a buy area of Waialae, so parking was tough. We ended up finding street parking (their lot is almost always full) a block away. I really love that they stock from local breweries. So their menu is always changing with the beers they have. I tried the Lei'd Back Lilikoi (ciders) from Paradise Ciders and Talk Story (Pale Ale) from Kohola Brewery. I really enjoyed the Lilikoi Cider. Crisp, fruity taste and easy to go down. The Pale Ale on the other hand left my mouth with a bitter taste, I was not a fan of that drink. However they have all kinds of different drinks for everyone's different taste buds. For food, we tried the Fried Pickles, Bread Pudding, and Beat Salad w/Goat Cheese Balls and Fish. The fried pickles were amazing. They are a little more on the sour side, but the dip that it comes with balances out the flavor. The Bread Pudding was sweet and yummy. The bread pudding was made up of smaller pieces and came with a scoop of ice cream. It really brought everything together. The Beat Salad was super good. I didn't care for the Goat Cheese balls as it had a more gamy taste to it, but it was interesting to try. The outdoor seating was very comfortable. You get the fresh air breeze and it had nice ambient lighting. They also allow your fury family here so feel free to bring them along. read more

Best local find for a craft beer selection and a local hang out! I had THE best raspberry amber beer EVER! Deep flavor, hint if raspberry, thick head, smooth finish- I'm still craving it!!! Wide variety of craft beers from ales, lagers, stouts, porter, saison. Bartender was friendly and crazy busy behind that bar! Food fare ranged from shishito peppers, corn dogs to a prime rib Philly cheesesteak, which from the looks of the tables, 99% of the customers were ordering. Happy hours are 4-6. POG saison fruity and delicious, Paradise cider was a combo of orange, passion, guava fruit flavors in a cider. Love this place! read more
