We have been here many times before. The food is so good & bartender Kevin? is so nice. We went this past Friday and didn't try any food, only drinks, so I am not sure if there have been any changes to the food. In response to COVID- they have hung I guess what looks like clear shower curtains all over the restaurant- in between tables and to separate patrons at the bar. I understand $ is tight and finding something that works to keep everyone safe is not an easy thing to do. To us, it kind of felt like we were in a scene in Dexter w plastic hung everywhere. I can appreciate them trying to keep everyone safe so, thank you for that. I guess what I am trying to say is, if you are headed out to dinner/drinks and feel that ambiance is important for whatever you are celebrating, maybe consider going somewhere else for now? Further to the last review I posted about the fish and chips I had, I am pleased to say the staff and management of Brew'd exceeded my expectations when I went back to try the fish and chips again. This time the fish was so moist and succulent while the batter was nice and crisp. And the fries, twice fried, were simply delicious and a great accompaniment to the fish. I never drive into Kaimuki bc drives me crazy! However, when a friend offers to drive so that you can try out a new brew spot, you say yes! This place looks like a hole in the wall but is actually quite big once you're inside. We arrived right after happy hour ended (4-6, get there for the deals) and decided to split a couple of apps. I'll add another star if they extend the hour to 7 hahaha. We ordered the Dirty fries (cooked in bacon fat ) and Gyro sliders. I added a wheat wine for my drink. Everything was delicious!!! Not only that, but the food was prepared quickly as well as my drink. Morgan was our server and she was amazing! Brew'd is Waialae Avenue's newest place to grab a drink! Located on the corner of 9th avenue in front of the Kaimuki Jade condominium is Brew'd. This pub is the former Crab City and it has undergone quite the transformation. They just opened this past Monday, 4/28 and it has been packed. I arrived at 9pm for an after dinner drink with some friends and the entire place was pretty much packed. The first thing I noticed was that this was a really REALLY loud place. The combination of loud music and boisterous conversations made it quite difficult to hear my friends on the other side of the table.. But hey if the drinks are good then I can let it slide. What I love is that Brew'd lets you to sample the beers. I personally liked the Ballast Point Sculpin IPA which had a nice light gold amber color, fairly high in hops, but had a citrus like finish. Now whenever I drink, I always need something to munch on. But considering that I just ate me and my friends decided to just snack on things and order as we go. Their house ketchup tasted like a blend of hand peeled tomatoes grounded up and mixed with a variety of spices. It vaguely reminded me of marinara sauce. The ketchup was so good I feel the chef who made it deserves a medal. Now that's a guy's hand I want to shake and congratulate on such a culinary masterpiece! The small portions were okay I suppose, but what killed it was the popcorn shrimp. The popcorn shrimp for $10 was NOT what I expected.. Maybe I should have read the menu details. But it was literally hurricane popcorn and the equivalent of 1-2 normal sized shrimps cut up into tiny pieces. At least the creme caramel sauce was nice. Personally, as much as I want to like this place, some of the prices just aren't right. I love the location being in Kaimuki and that the parking is decent. But for $8-12 for a beer, I rather go elsewhere or better yet go to Tamura's across the street and drink elsewhere. Brew'd, Oahu's latest offering of the modern version's take on the pub, is a very solid watering hole for beer lovers. Stemming its roots from Real Gastropub, which shares the same owners, some food mainstays are found here along with some on-menu beer selections. We arrived here at 5pm, and already the place was 75% full. Most of this is attributed to the place being open only for its second day and within an hour of our arrival, the pub completely filled up. There are tables and bar, along with televisions to catch your favorite game. Behind the bar is a list of beers on special for the time being. The pub is pretty cramped when it is full. When choosing beers, you can opt for its extensive beer menu or on-the-wall limited time specials. For the on-the-wall beers, ABV and prices are listed. For those confused what N at the end of the beer means, it stands for Nitro. Pints are available but as an alternative, you can purchase a flight of beers. For my beer, I decided to go with something I wanted to try for a long time and that was Deschute Armory's XPA Nitro. This XPA is among the most smoothest beers I've ever tasted and extremely easy to drink. One pint of this and it has already become my favorite. My friends got flights and I was able to try a good variety of other beers. I personally think the flights are a bit too expensive and doesn't have as good as a value as a pint. I highly suggest going with a pint and if you are unsure how you would like a beer, ask for a sample. The food here is perfectly matched with drinking beer. We all got a few items off the menu: Mac and cheese $7 - Made with nine cheese and topped with parmesan pretzels for a crust. Smaller portion than expected. The macaroni is shredded which is not to my liking, but I liked the quality of cheese and the unique pretzel crust. Mushroom ravioli $11 - The ravioli was delicious, but what topped it to become a winner was the braised oxtail it came with. Delicious! Wagyu flat iron steak $14 - Chimmichurri sauce wagyu flat iron steak on top of risotto. The risotto was the highlight of the dish. The wagyu flat iron steak was quite forgetful. Bacon fat fries $6 - Good decent fries. Small portion and along the bottom was too soggy. Would skip next time. Popcorn shrimp $10 - Delicious rock shrimp but the furikake popcorn was way too soggy. Not bad, but would not get again. Priced too high for what you get. Mushroom and onion tart $8 - I loved it. Heavy mushroom flavor and nice puffed tart. Bacon kale caesar salad $8 - Forgettable. Almost forgot I even ordered it. Service was above average. Because it was extremely busy and the restaurant was new, there was one or two forgotten items that we ordered but nothing that made it a big deal. Ordering the beers seem to take much longer than it should though. Overall, expensive if you go try out the food and flights, but if you know what you like here and stick with pints, you will save quite a bit of money here. Ok so I was on mission to eat the best fish and chips. After reading Kelli's review supposedly brewd had it. The location is a bit far from where I reside. That's ok it gives me an excuse to walk down to via gelato and check out their flavors of the day. The pub opens at 4pm everyday except Sunday's. I ended up here on a Friday afternoon around 4:30pm with Nadine:). The place was already bustling with customers drinking and eating. The drink menu was extensive with beers from all over the world. I knew what I wanted and told our sweet waitress one order of fish and chips. The local fish today as it does change daily was hebi. I have never had that before, so I prayed that I would love it lol. I can't not love this fish with all these high expectations..... Then it finally came out. Three fat pieces of fish battered on a bed of fries with tartar sauce. I couldn't wait I had to take a bite. It was extremely hot and almost burnt my mouth. I was just too excited to care. Then there it was. The soft, hot, thick, moist, glistening hebi entered my mouth. And yes it was delicious. The con would be that the batter was breaking off my hebi. It was way too thick. But, this fish and chips is up there next to the halibut I had in anchorage. :) I will be back to see what the next fish they will fry up..... Great service, ambience and company!!!!!! read more

FINALLY! I MADE IT TO BREW'D!! Find some street parking and you're good to go! You might have to wait especially during HH, but luckily we didn't have that issue. I would say it's worth the wait anyways. Beer: GREAT!! So many selections on tap and at reasonable prices too! They also have a ton of bottles and I love that they have a very creative beer cocktail menu. My favorite brewer Deschutes made appearances throughout the menu. For those non-beer drinkers they also offer a hard alcohol menu and carry an adequate number of ciders. The lilikoi cider was a crowd pleaser! FOOD: Ehhhhh-- the spinach dip was way too cheesy like eating a block of cream cheese plus the chips were stale, the "dirty fries" were the cleanest dirty fries I've ever eaten. What I mean by that is that they didn't have any sauce and instead had a lot of oil + spice. They were okay but not what comes to my mind when I picture dirty fries. Prices were pretty reasonable even without HH in effect... like $6-10 for beers and $8-12 for cocktails. I tried to make it to this new Kaimuki gastropub on their opening day but missed it. But I finally made it this Wednesday around 6 PM and this proved to be a very good time because more people started showing up in numbers after seven o'clock. BREW'd can get pretty crowded due to its popularity. I think 6 o'clock on a hump day is one of the best time to saunter in while the tables are still available. Otherwise, bar seating is the only option since the pub is on the smaller side. Decor and the furnishings made the place feels warm and the ambiance was comfortable, modern and stream lined. It is a happening pub. Four of us were excited to check out this pub to its sister REAL gastropub. Getting a drink takes precedence over food so we embarked on the beer selection process. Tough decisions because there were so many choices. Our waitress was awesome in helping us to decide which beer to order. She gave us a few samples so we can compare. Three of us settled on #12 Coronado Orange Ave Wit, it was smooth and had a well-balanced taste to it; not bitter or too "hoppy" nor does it hold a strange aftertaste. Our excitement also resulted in an overabundance of food ordered. But their food was really tasty! Salami charcuterie was excellent - this variety of the cured meats served with 3 different cheese was perfectly paired. I wouldn't mind ordering this again so I eat the whole plate myself. The bacon fat fries were so savory and not the healthiest but nevertheless so satisfyingly "bad" or "good" in this case. They could lighten up on the bacon oil a little because after eating a few fries, I thought the bacon grease tasted like lard, especially when the fries got cold. Beef sliders topped with fried onions really hit the spot. Pork adobo poutine smothered in french fries was so good that I wanted a base (bread or rice) to sop up the delicious gravy sauce. Mushroom ox-tail raviola was juicy and tender while the shrimp cioppino plate rounded out our dinner perfectly. I really liked that yummy risotto-like rice in the cioppino broth. I would return so I could try different food and imbibe on more beer selections. They also carried the most unique beer selection of all, one which contained the curry spice. It smells like curry but when you taste it, it's not what you expected. There isn't a hint of what you normally considers the curry "taste". This gastropub may need to consider lowering their prices if they're to attract more patrons. The beer is more on the expensive side than some of the pubs around town. BREW'd is not a place I want to visit on a regular basis because it is expensive and for a little more money, I might as well go for a fancy meal elsewhere. First off, this place isn't that big and the seating arrangement is currently: 12 tables (for 2 people), 2 larger tables (for 4 people) and 15 seats at the bar. The nice thing is that since the original hype and opening the place has slowed down a tad so you're not having to wait forever outside. It's pretty easy to grab a table (weekday experiences only for me) or a seat at the bar. Service has been good both times I've been here, definitely no complaints. Beer never took long to get to me and the food came out quickly. Highlights so far: Mushroom & Goat Cheese Tart, Mushroom & Braised Oxtail Ravioli, German Potato Salad. I'm on the fence with the Waygu Flat Iron Steak & Risotto, only because the risotto was pretty mushy and too cheesy. The steak was great though, perfectly cooked and a great chimichurri seasoning. I have no complaints about this place, I know what I like here and I dabble from time to time but I'm a happy camper when I come here. So far I drink the Deschutes Armory XPA and can't be happier with that recomendation. read more

I just come here for the cute workers. Jk. Kind of. Brew'd, a brilliant opening from the same owner of Real a Gastropub is a place that I can proudly call my local watering hole. Great draft selections from craft breweries, huge bottle selection, bar food served till 1am, closing time of 2am, and cool decor sum up Brew'd. Their lines are cleaned and well taken care of by the awesome staff and you can taste the difference. They also allow you to taste something on tap before you decide to get it. The draft size and ABV are given on their menu too. Two types of Nitro beer? Yes. Poutine. Get it with your beer. Fries + gravy = yes yes yes Deviled eggs. Another good snack. Want to be healthier? They got salads and hummus. I have not gone to any other bar here other than their sister bar Real that has a staff that cares so much about their shop. These guys take the effort to carry the best and keep their beer lines clean. The best pub on Oahu. EASY parking. Lot in the back of the place or street. Place is small. Food: we didn't get to try the food because we were hungry and couldn't wait any longer for a table. Last thoughts: I would try this place again for the food at a later time when it's not too busy. A craft beer pub in Kaimuki?? Really?.....I heard that and was definitely a happy guy. It took them a while to finally open but no big deal to me as long as they did. I went on a Wednesday night and the place was super busy. If I was with more people the wait would have been 30 minutes plus but it was just me so I got a seat at the bar no problem. Being a small and new place I can understand the wait times though. This is a nice place. No complaints about the ambiance or inside of the place. The vibe was a bit loud and busy but still cool. I'm at Brew'd mainly to drink great beer so I look at the beers on tap immediately. Bam.....the first thing I noticed was the prices of a pint or even the smaller size served(.25L) were pretty high coming in between $8 to $12. Ouch! I would think that a small place in Kaimuki wouldn't charge that much for a beer. Even if it's a craft beer, like I said....ouch! I decided to order some food and asked the bartender what was good. He said the Root Beer Braised Short Ribs are super so I went for it. Okay, he was right! It was awesome and went great with my beer. The prices of the food did not seem overly priced but then again I only had one thing. I would say that I have no major complaints so far about this place except the high price of the beer. I have friends that have gone there and agree on this too. For this I have to give them 4 stars instead of 5 and hope that they adjust the beer prices soon. BREW'd is one of the reasons I'm glad I moved to Kaimuki. I can walk down to this trendy, Portland-esque gastropub on a balmy night, have a few brews and bites, and walk home without worrying about a DD. There are so many great things about this space. It has a great location on Waialae, a cool minamalist/rustic space outside lit up with strings of lights to wait with drinks for your table, epic chalk art on the walls depicting scenes of Belgian monks and the beer brewing process, and hipster chandeliers and lighting inside. I've only found two downsides, the proximity of the tables (If you sit on the bench on the wall side, your butt will most likely graze, rest on, or invade the personal space of the table next to you when you try to squeeze out. So either make the person with the smallest butt sit there, or resign yourself to no bathroom visits. ) and the "no yelping" sign behind the bar (I'm taking it as reverse psychology- it makes someone want to break the rules! Besides who doesn't love yelp? !) The draft list is always changing, but the servers are super helpful, just describe to them what you like to drink and they can recommend something. Also, you can always sample the drafts before you commit. Last night I had the Stillwater Existent, a dark Belgian style which tasted to me like coffee. They have a number of bottles and in addition to hard liquors, serve beer based cocktails. My bestie and I love the one that tastes like a Creamsicle, made with a hef type wit beer. The food last night was awesome! I can't wait to go back for some more truffle deviled eggs. For $9 you get 4 halves, and there's just the right amount of truffle flavor to make them decadent, not overpowering. We also tried the mac and cheese, super rich and flavorful and it was perfect when the creamy cheese was cut with a bite of their somewhat spicy special of the night Pork Verde over Polenta. The two dishes together were great, but the mac and cheese by itself may be overwhelmingly rich for some, I'm glad I could mix it a little with the Verde sauce, or maybe ask for some Tabasco, that might be good. The mac and cheese was also small so if you're having it for dinner, get another plate for an app. I've gotten the poutine and fish and chips in the past but neither were super stellar. I remember the poutine as being overly salty and the fish and chips as being 'ok'. We ended the night with the Irish car bomb dessert which had a different booze component in each of the parts of the dessert. Guinness gelato, whiskey caramel, bailey's brownie (?), and a whipped creme. I'm all about boozy desserts (check out my ode to Pig and the Lady) but this dessert didn't gel so well. I think it was the amount of booze/flavor of the brownie, it was a little overwhelming. Also, the size of the dessert was pretty tiny, definitely not one to share. I want to try another dessert of theirs to see if they do better...the beer-a-misu looked interesting. I'm going to have to stop by for happy hour (even on Saturdays) so I don't start spending all my money here. This place is owned by the same people as REAL and the similar style is very evident. The food is almost the same--with a few twists here and there--which definitely isn't a bad thing! No reservations yet so time your night out accordingly. I got here at about 8:30 on Saturday night (we were a party of three) and in hindsight, not my best idea. The wait for a table was 30 mins - 1 hour.. and it ended up being an hour. We were able to sit at the little nook in the corner--thank god--so we didn't actually have to wait that long but nothing opened up for almost an hour after. The place did clear up a little at around 9:30 so I'd say that would be a good time to swing by when you won't have to wait long to be seated. They're open til 2 every night so that's more than enough time for fun and yumz. Anyway, beer selection is pretty much on par with REAL and the food is pretty similar. We had the truffled dungeoness crab deviled eggs (pass on it; it wasn't that good), mushroom/onion tart (this was ok but not worth a repeat performance to me), and the pork adobo poutine (the real star of the evening food-wise.. don't miss out on it!). Street parking in the eve is free or you can park in either of the municipal lots behind the building and pay. Not much else to say on that front. Wait staff is great though. We came here for Happy Hour on a Saturday night. I'm sad to say I'm not a beer drinker, so I didn't even taste the craft beers here, but I had 2 glasses of chardonnay and loved the wine. What I loved best, though, was the food!! We sampled the tempura enoki mushrooms and the fried cauliflower. Omg! The cauliflower was very tasty and not greasy at all. I pretended they were healthy, even though they were battered and fried, because you know - cauliflower! The enoki mushrooms were just as good. Let me tell you, I was on a date but I couldn't help stuffing my face with them and was so sad when I ate the entire plate!!! If you need to find a great happy hour, come to Brew'd. I enjoy giving great reviews but at this bar today nothing was satisfying, sorry. Waiter wasn't able to answer most of our questions about the beer, because he only works there one day of the week. Sorry, but at a gastro pub that serves expensive beers this is a no-go. A "sorry I haven't tasted it" is not a good explanation of the beer. Food wasn't good. Not to pricy, either which is the upside. I rather pay more and eat well though. Liking or disliking food is always a very individual thing, so maybe you like it there. We asked where the oysters were from, waiter tells us Washington. I work at a bar in town that serves many oysters. These were definitely not Washington oysters. Salad had minimal dressing but was good overall. The beer menu can't be right! I am from cologne Germany and I know for a fact that there is no beer called Renegade Blonde as it is shown on the menu under kölsch (name for beer in cologne). Bikini Blonde from Hawaii was listed under Munich Belles, definitely wrong. I ordered a Oktoberfest beer from Munich. Glass was only .25l instead of 1 liter which is the usual size for Oktoberfest beer. I understand that this might be to expensive because it is imported beer, but serving the beer without head is definitely another No-go! No German beer is served like this! I ordered an erdinger after that. Besides the fact that it was only a very small bottle, it came with a glass that was to small. The whole beer would not have fit in the glass. Since you have to pour the whole beer out of the bottle to get the hops that sit in the bottom of the bottle out, that's not acceptable. More than $70 for a poor experience. If you're looking for a casual place to hang out with friends or just to grab some drinks and a meal, definitely check out BREW'd Craft Pub. Located on Waialae Ave, (right across Mud Hen Water), this restaurant is definitely a great place to check out! Food: We tried the gyro sliders and their dirty fries. I am a huge fan of mediterranean food but I felt like the gyro sliders didn't do justice to the amount of praise they get on other reviews. The bottom bun of my sliders were really soggy (as if it was soaked in water prior to being served) and the lamb was more crispy than I would have preferred. The overall taste however was still really great. The dirty fries is a must try! It comes with garlic seasoning as well as banana peppers and bacon. Nothing is too overpowering and the fries had a perfect crisp! Our group also ordered their donuts which was part of their "brunch at night" theme (happening on every 3rd Tuesday). It was quite tasty but at that point I was already filled up on drinks and food. If you're a big eater, I'd recommend ordering several plates (or one of their "large" plate items). Drinks: They have a variety of beers which vary from time to time depending on what is available. However, being someone who favors the sweeter side of drinks, I tried their Raspberry Long Island which hit the spot. It was definitely on the sweeter end (almost like juice) and was really refreshing! Ambience: Very casual. The restaurant is on the smaller end but on a Tuesday night (around 8:30pm) it was really empty! Also, our waitress was extremely accommodating and very attentive. Great service!! Came here with some friends for a drink after work. It seems very similar to the bar at Ward Center named Real. Same feel, same menu look, same concept. They have a rotating tap as well as a listed menu of bottled beers. They do have a few more items on the food menu then real like burgers and other things to choose from. The bar itself is much smaller than real nice looking inside. We had to wait a while for a table and it was really crowded on a weekday. We ordered the green eggs and ham which was decent but basically just deviled eggs with bacon. The fish and chips are pretty good, good fries. The mac & cheese was probably the best with a nice flaky layering on top. The sliders were also pretty good as well, sort of spicy which I liked. The service here was decent pretty fast and polite. There were times where we had to ask for things multiple times, though it was pretty busy. Parking is really hard to find, as there is only a small lot in the back and then you have to look for street parking once it's full. I love beer! Brew'd has a wide selection of craft beers that each offer something different to the table. I love saisons and there are at least 13 different types of saisons on the menu. There's something about sour beer that I LOVE! The service was great. Even though they were packed our waiter was very attentive and without being asked, recommended a beer to us based on what we had ordered. Parking is either around the back or street parking along Waialae Ave. We were able to immediately find parking around back but it can be difficult. Brew'd also has the Craft Beer Cocktails. These are fun plays on classic cocktails. They have an extra kick because they pair a craft beer with hard alcohol to make delicious drinks. I've honestly been waiting for this place to open for an eternity!!!! I have lived in kaimuki all my life and have always thought "I wish there was a cool bar in kaimuki! I haven't gotten my wish until today! I finally visited brewd and was blown away by the decor. Very old school and classic feel that separates itself from any bar. Fits kaimuki's new "artsy" feel to it and has very well thought out seating for such minimal space. For the Beer, excellent. 16 different microbrews that will enhance any beer drinkers taste buds! I had the number 9 which was written in a weird language that I couldn't understand but let. E tell you this beer was amaze balls and was light and crisp but will still get you buzzing. Now the food (drool). The food is very good as I have never been to real gastropub so I'm not sure what they serve there.but based solely on brewd I indulged in the lemon sriaracha lemon hummus served w/ pita chips which was light and they offer more pita chips but think twice before asking for more. You should wait until you ate the bacon fat fries dipped in them, I'm still wanting them as they are only 5 blocks from my house; they are amazing. Last but not least is the Dungeness crab deviled eggs which are just the right combination that makes eggs enjoyable anytime off day. I can't. Good beer selection, food is pretty 50/50. Outdoor seating so we could bring our dog, major plus. Truffle fries- so incredible and amazing Fish sliders - also incredible Buffalo cauliflower- pretty good, not amazing Beet salad - really awful. Just went to brewd for a rainy Monday snack. The Panty peeler beer is AMAZING and the filthy Fries are to die for! The service here is ALWAYS EXCEPTIONAL! Our server tonight was Gillian and she was on it! Got our drinks and food out fast and was on top of our every need! Came in on a Tuesday evening excited to come back to this place to get the candied bacon and few other items we always enjoy. Unfortunately this time we ordered the bacon and well not sure if the chef forgot to candy the bacon or just maybe they changed chef but it came out and both my wife and I looked at each other and were like umm... okay let's ask the waiter. We brought it up to the waiter who seemed like he cared but he was just being passive and kept telling us " oh yeah thanks for the feedback, let me tell the chef" he told us that multiples times "said we want to make it right, let me tell the chef" so we figured like oh yeah maybe they are making new bacon that's actually correct and candied, or he was going to give us another option to make it right literally, but NOPE we were wrong. About 20 more minutes go by, were waiting and we realize this guy just bullsh!t us the whole time like he was going to make it right LOL. So we eventually are like can we get the check, figured hey maybe he will have decency to come the bacon but nope, it was on there and after paying he even said " yeah guys, thanks for the feedback, I'm going to take a photo of the bacon for the chef" ----- BRUH YOU COULD HAVE JUST TAKEN THE BACON TO THE BACK AND SHOWN THE DAMN CHEF - WE ATE TWO PIECES OF IT LOL and half the plate was there when you grabbed it. I mean, I could honestly buy this side of bacon at Denny's or zippys, but all in all we definitely will not be back to this place as it was a great spot but customer service and making things right goes a long way in this type of industry. Finally a place that actually serves rye beer and 3 different ones. There are many other beers to choose from as well. Same owner as Real and somewhat similar menu. Hipster-ish crowd with knowledgeable bartenders. Great place for my fave (rye obviously) and if you're willing to spend a bit more for your beer than a regular happy-hour beer joint. My rye on tap was $9.00 and well worth it. Love the chalk art on the wall. Some very talented individual captured the rise of beer throughout time via chalk. Parking is a PAIN however. They only have 2 stalls and street parking is a mess. We got there at 5:45pm on a Saturday and it was already crowded. read more

Ahhh, BREW'd. I'm much happier having moved into my new Makiki apartment, but boy...I sure do miss Kaimuki, and this is one of the gems! I've introduced countless friends here to the relaxed, intimate atmosphere (nice lighting, smaller but makes it easier to hear), amazing selection of beer (seriously, AMAZING. Various types and unique flavors), and fun menu of fancy bar food (oxymoron, maybe. But it's perfect to pair with a great craft beer). Whether it's a nightcap or an early meeting before dinner (since they open at 4), BREW'd has always come through. I suppose I could just go to REAL over here on Ward, since they're owned by the same people. But fun bike rides just down the street to my house after a night of drinking, laughing, fire-pickles, and other shenanigans will be very much missed. I heart BREW'd! read more

I'm a huge fan of craft brews and have been extremely excited to see Hawaii's bar scene change to cater to the needs of people like me. =]]] My first visit to this bar was earlier this month as my bf and I had a few drinks to kiss goodbye to my 28th year of existence. The bartenders were nice and allowed us to sample beer before buying it. (They have a no refund/no return policy since they allow people to try it before purchasing it.) On that night, I ordered a pumpkin beer and was heartbroken when the keg ran out 3/4 into the pour. The bartender, at first, was going to give us a discount on the beer but he later changed his mind and gave it to me for free!!! WEEE!! A few weeks later, I dragged one of my gfs to the Deschutes tap takeover event. (Side note: I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVEEEEEEEEEEE Deschutes, I'm a huge fan of their Bond series and anniversary Black Buttes). Therefore I was extremely excited when they had the Black Butte XXVI on tap!!! I know that brew isn't at its prime yet as I had a bottle of it and read that the best to use date is sometimes in 2015. BUT I had to try it on tap! I was also able to try their food that day. I had the deviled eggs, bacon fat fries, citrus seared sashimi, and mac-n-cheese. All were good but I really enjoyed the fries and the ketchup they provided. So damn artery clogging good!!! The parking for this place can be tricky as it's in a residential area, however, there's meters across the street and two big lots a few blocks away, The variety of beers is great and I'm sure you'll fall head over heels for a brew, especially for those they aren't big beer drinkers. Before you come there is parking in the back with quite a few stalls open if not then there is always street parking. Pretty trendy little spot with plenty of different beers to choose from (on and off draft!) I love Sam Adams since it's a delicious American beer you can never go wrong with funny thing is I don't remember if I drank any there. All of those other beers just confuse the heck out of me but I'm always down to try it. I had what was recommended by our server 3 of the ones on the board with numbers on it (Sorry don't remember much since there was a lot of alcohol). One thing for sure is the bacon fat fries and the bone marrow burger, two things that will satisfy any non-vegan carnivore. Sorry not vegan/vegetarian friendly peeps. Food is a bit on the pricey side for the amount they give so if I were you just keep on ordering bacon fat fries and other pupus to share. Great place to drink since beer is cheaper than the food. Go during happy hour it'll do less damage on your wallet/purse/or both. read more

Considering I've attended UH for 5 years, lived on campus for 4 years and off campus in Kaimuki for a year I really don't venture to try the restaurants in the area and that is such a shame on my part. Tonight my friend and I decided to go to Brew'd and we definitely were not disappointed. Ambience: I love the decor of the place! The lighting fixtures, the dark wood paneling, lacquered countertops and the mouth dropping selection of beers, ales, porters and everything a craft pub should offer. The people are very knowledgable about their selections and extremely helpful with helping you choose whats right for you. Food: We had the Meatloaf Sliders with tobacco onions, pickle, and horseradish arugula. It came very quickly which was nice because even though the service was fast the sliders were absolutely delicious! We also had the Bacon Fat fries with house made ketchup...any plan I had of dieting was thrown out the window! Drinks: There is a HUGE selection of drinks you really will have to look through the book but I decided to have the Duchesse de Bourgogne and honestly I wasn't a fan...it was almost like drinking nail polish remover...probably because it smelled like it. I ended up sticking with a simple Angry Orchard Apple Cider. My friend had the Fear Milk Chocolate Stout and he liked it and would drink it again. I would try it but unfortunately I am lactose intolerant. :( Would I recommend this place to a friend? Absolutely! This place is fine , but no air conditioning!! I walked here from McCully and really needed to cool off. The only beers that looked go to me were too heavy for the heat, so I skipped them. Very sweet cocktails, but our friendly bartender kept the gin & juice coming while my friend tried beer tasters. read more
