I learned about the recent opening of this cafe from a Yelp search. Brew Lab seems to be a Vietnamese / Asian fusion sort of coffee house and cafe. According to their menu on the wall, they will serve Banh Mi, Mochi Donuts and Croffles. All things I'm interested in. Drink-wise, they'll have Vietnamese style coffees, lattes, Refreshers, fruit teas, etc. The people are friendly and the space is cute.
Brew Lab seems to be in their Soft Opening stage. So I'm going to overlook some things. Like their Yelp page says they're open at 7 am. But their doors were locked when I arrived at 7:30. That's when I learned from a Google search result that they're open at 8. In any event, while I was trying to figure out what to do in my car, they apparently saw me and unlocked the door. I asked about the time discrepancy, and a guy who seemed to be an owner suggested that they are open at 7, but I wasn't entirely clear on whether that's true.
Also, I tried to order a mochi donut, but they did not have any fresh made ones and the ones they had were experimental from the day before and they understandably did not offer them to me. So it seems like you may need to wait for their full menu.
I'm unlikely to return for coffee. I'm strictly a black iced coffee drinker. It does not seem like they're going to offer either black cold brew or iced coffee. The man helping me suggested an Iced Saigonese Coffee. I was not familiar with that. From a bit of research, it appears Saigonese coffee is made from Robusta (rather than Arabica) and sweetened with condensed milk. I can't speak to whether this was an authentic Saigonese Coffee, but it was too sweet and light for me to enjoy.
Although I wasn't a fan of the coffee, I'm going to give them 3.5 Stars for now and I'll update my review after trying their food. read more
