Too bad. I kind of want to like this place but it keeps letting me down. The first time was in the opening week. Food was just really underwhelming. Only the burger was reasonable but hey, you can't really screw up a burger. Teething problems or a harbinger of future problems? Future will tell I suppose ...
Last Friday night I tried again, busy night. We got the table all the way in the back, right next to the kitchen door. Mmm... There was staff going through this door every 30 seconds, blasting a strong stream of air over me every time the door opened. In addition to that: the door bumped into me a few times while earing and rushed staff with dishes keept brushing along my chair. Can't enjoy my meal like this
Look: staff couldn't help it. But the owner should realise that this table shouldn't be there. There's no room enough for another seat. I understand he wants to maximise floorspace use and have as many tables as possible, but this was one too many. Bit too greedy my friend.
Finally: Sitting next to tje kitchen door sucks. Thus table shouldn't be used for customers, I'd rather sit outside and eat at the busstob, probably a more relaxing experience.
So I complained and I received sincere apologies. Plus a bill with 12.5% "optional" gratuity included You mad bro? A lot of London restaurants have this annoying habit of adding gratuity that you need to opt-out from. Unlike say, everywhere else, where it's up to the customer to add gratuity. Making it actually, you know, "optional".
I had the gratuity removed and was actually perplexed that we were not even offered any small gesture like having the cup of tea on the house. Brew made me pay the full monty but sold me an abominable dining experience. I don't like this business. Greedy mentality is what springs to mind. read more
