I've gone twice here now since September and am glad that my experiences haven't been as terrible as some of the other reviews have noted. I do agree that they are super busy and it takes a while to get checked upon arrival. There has been a line both times I've come here which took me at least, around 10 minutes before approaching one of the girls at the front to actually check in. So take this into account when they say come at least 10-20 minutes early depending on whether you've done your paperwork beforehand online or not. I haven't had to wait long after checking so far either time.
On my first visit, I didn't have any issues with either the girl who took me in the back to the dressing room or the ultrasound technician. But today, I did when I went for my mammogram. Upon arriving in the dressing room, the girl initially told me to go into a room and said the door didn't lock, was that OK? What she didn't say was that the door doesn't even close - it just bounced back without the lock function working. Given that this particular changing room was right in front of the entrance where people are coming and going, I wasn't thrilled about this. When I mentioned to her that it doesn't close, her response was, "Well, that's what I was telling you. It's not a big deal, nobody's coming or going through here." Um, she, another patient and I had literally just walked through that very entrance and I'd seen a few men wandering about the main corridor just outside the entrance and in the outside waiting room as well so...yeah, I told her this wasn't cool. She told me to just go into the next room then and took off. A few minutes later, the technician came to get me and she was not remotely friendly. I don't know her name but was an elderly lady with very large, round glasses, short, cropped brown hair, and a thick, European accent, perhaps Eastern European accent. I provide these details not for any potential race or ethnicity concerns but more so for description so that Breastlink Tarzana will likely be able to identify who she is and hopefully address what I'm about to say next.
As any woman who's gotten a mammogram before is aware, it's pretty uncomfortable and painful. She barely spoke much to me (which is fine I suppose, I'm not there to find my next BFF after all) and I wasn't aware that at one point during the exam, I needed to have my chin up. She spoke softly at first and all I heard was "chin" but not what came next. I moved my head down thinking she wanted my chin down, but then she practically shouted quite forcefully, "NO, CHIN UP!!!" Ooookkay...I tilted my head up, feeling like a kid who'd been punished for not listening to her mother. Not something that makes a visit that's already unpleasant and/or scary any better.
I realize that in general, customer service has tanked big time across pretty much ALL service-related industries since the pandemic but that's really no excuse if you're going to continue providing services. I hope Breastlink Tarzana will speak to their employees about better customer service and do better going forwards. Otherwise, there are plenty of other places to keep in mind for next year's exams. read more
