This is a great place to get a taste of the VR world that is currently blowing up right now! Out of the several options that are available in Edmonton for VR sessions we have found this to be the best place to check it out. The rates are very fare and they have quite a few rooms ( over ten I believe). There are dozens of great VR games with many of them being multiplayer ( you have to try ) and others being single player adventures and simulation experiences. They are also getting ready to launch the Virtuix Omni which is a really cool system that works with the current set up of Vr glasses and a form of remote but adds the element of you walking/running on a in place track , i know I'll be back to try this out Out of the few times I've been here there was a time where there was only one person running the whole facility ... this can be demanding when setting people up in multiplayer games and initial introduction, Travis did a great job running around and helping us out so the wait time was not too bad. read more

I didn't have the best experience here. When you walk in it's a cool set up and the staff was very friendly but I had to be switched rooms three times in order for the game console to work. Then half the games didn't work, one took forever to load, and the staff didn't know how to work or anything about half the games. I've been to VR before and I had a much better experiences at other companies. Hopefully it was just an off day read more

Came here for the beta testing, and I hope they manage to work out the kinks before they open up for regular paying customers. Of the 4 of us, only 1 somewhat enjoyed themselves. The concept is pretty cool, though. I have never played VR before, and I had fun once I got the hang of it. Gripes: -headset is very uncomfortable while wearing glasses -headset gets pretty sweaty, and we're pretty sure the equipment wasn't cleaned when we were done, because the staff were at the door minutes behind us - system/game stalled a few times - steep learning curve (the majority of our "play time" was spent trying to maneuver through the menu or learning how to play the game; one friend only managed to play 2 games in 1 hour, and spent the rest of the time reading tutorials on how to play) - difficulty getting help (each player is placed in their own section, so you need to call out when you require assistance, and with all the VR gear on, it's hard to see/hear if/when someone is even there to help. - would be more fun if you could play/interact with the friends that you came with, otherwise what's the point of going together, right? Free parking available, and when you're done, there's tons of places nearby where you can eat and drink. read more

This was my first time at Breakout VR, but I have to say it was great! Walking in, you know you're in the right place with the VR setup right in front and a huge TV showcasing a bunch of VR videos. You can tell right away they have a lot of rooms for people to enjoy the fun. They take you back and get you all set up with controllers, a headset, and headphones. Then, it's time to play! They walk you through the basics, but if you're new to the whole VR scene, they do have a tutorial game called In The Lab, which will teach you all you need to know. The individual who was working tonight was very pleasant and helpful, and was right there if you needed any help. We booked for an hour, but the place was quiet so they gave us some extra time. It was so much fun, and a great way to get in some VR time! I would definitely come back :) read more

We love Breakout VR, this is the best place in the city to try out VR. We do appreciate that you can book your slot in advance or walk in. They run the HTC VIVE system. Booking online was easy and when we arrived there is always more than enough spots. I think they have 12 VR machine set ups so this is great for large groups. The staff are helpful and so their best to accommodate, if you're stuck or having difficulties they came to help really quick. I think the next best thing would be for them to help walk people through a few starter games for first timers but otherwise if you go with someone that knows some good games just ask them. Personally we are fond to start everyone on Space Pirates, then get into The Lab and find the archery game which is super fun. Once newbies are warmed up we highly recommend playing as a group on Arizona Sunshine (zombie campaign is only for 2 people, if your a group of 4 you can do the zombie waves in survival mode). The other fun group game is The Rec Room where you can play paintball and some other Rec sports. Best of all is the price- $15 for an hour of game play time! Way awesome rate to give it a try or come out for a date night activity. Must mention they have a VR OMNI that they are looking like they will be setting up in the near future. read more

A good place to play virtual reality for a reasonable price. I would recommend booking before coming in, just to make sure that you get a spot. The staff are consistently patient and willing to help. My first time coming by the computer I was using froze for ten minutes, so the guy working gave me 10 minutes extra once he'd fixed it, and my second time the guy working walked me through how to set up a game that we could all play. He didn't even seem to mind that he had to walk me through inviting my friends for every co-op game we played. To be fair, we were the only party there the second time I came by, but still. I've come in once by myself and once with friends, and both times they had a wide enough variety of games that the hour just flew by and I had a blast. They also update their games fairly regularly and bring new ones through which, for me at least, is really effective in encouraging repeat visits. read more

Pretty cool! We tried different games, and I like Space Pirate best. REC room and Hover Junker are good games for friends play together. Staff always helped us around, and I am sure they cleaned the headsets after we played. Wonderful experience, definitely will come back read more

To be fair there was only one employee at the location trying to juggle the entire operation. But... the selection of games was no better than the free apps you can download from the PlayStation Store for the PSVR for free. The HTC vive is terrible. Field of view is akin to looking through a set of binoculars, and the screen door effect is distracting. While VR has tons of potential, it isn't mature enough to warrant an "arcade" style experience. Don't waste your money or time. Terribly disappointing experience. read more

I was new and the staff didn't help at all I spent 20 minutes just messing around in the main screen and the game kept messing up.

Wasn't the best experience for my group of friends and I. I've been to a couple VR arcades before and this one seemed lacking in customer service and systems knowledge. Our attendant, the only one there, seemed more interested in checking his facebook then helping my less practiced friends experiencing VR for the first time. I constantly had to stop my game to assist them in not only the mechanics of some of the games but restarting steam. I also had to change stations when the attendant couldn't resolve an issue with a game restarting. The headsets need better maintenance and sanitation, the following morning I developed a sty on one of my eyes, which is a clear example of a previous customer having a staff infection and the headset not being cleaned properly. The only upside of Breakout VR is that it has some of the better selection of VR games on the market, I had a lot of fun trying Pavlov for the first time. Please do better, I will be back again in the future and I hope I have a better experience. read more
