Truffle fries and lemon aioli were OBSESSED
    Lindsay M.

My husband and I decided to try it out here on a whim tonight (Thursday) as the menu was all half price - I'm so happy we did! We split a huge burger and a very generous portion of truffle fries with dip, had a bevvy each, and a handful of tokens for just $35 Totally worth it on all fronts! Firstly, I love that Beercade is upbeat but has that pub feel. With the bar at the center of the venue, a raised stage at the back, arcade & pinball games on the other walls, and tons of seating throughout, the set up has a nice flow. There's also tons of big TVs with sports on! The staff are all super friendly and quick to get your order, bring your food & drinks, and to check in. Our server had a lot of knowledge on the menu - it's always nice when you're not trying to figure things out WITH the servers bc they have no clue. We split the Double Double burger (sans veggies cuz hubs isn't into it) which comes with two patties, 2 pieces of bacon, and two pieces of cheese on a brioche (maybe?) bun and house sauce. I'm not sure what the house sauce was, but I really liked it. I saw one other person review that it tasted like Big Mac sauce, but my husband won't go near that stuff and he devoured his half of the Double Double burger. The patties were thin and flavourful - just how I like mine! - and homemade The bacon was thin too, but it was all good cuz it covered more of your bites. The cheese? Cheesy I apologize for not knowing the type of bun that was used, but it's the kind that can sometimes be kind of waxy on the outside of the top half - that shiny kind - which this one thankfully was not! I thoroughly enjoyed each bite! Our burger was $6.25 They had tacos and other sandwiches as well, all which I look forward to trying in the future! Sides were on for $3.50 tonight - normal fries, tater tots, kettle chips, yam fries, and truffle fries. I still hadn't tried truffle fries ANYWHERE yet, so opted for this option YUMMAY!!! My husband said they smelled like the bottom of a mouldy foot, but I dunno... I found them SUPER flavourful and am all about that stinky food life (I didn't find them to be of a bad smell tho...) I got them with the lemon aioli (which I also haven't had before) and I looooooved this dip The dip was only $1 and came with enough to dip the whole serving of fries in. The serving was enough that three people could split it! Hubs got a fraught beer for $4. Some kind of bitter beers were on for $3, though neither of us tried it - not really beer people. They have a lot of pinball machines, as well as modern arcade games and some from previous decades for a throw back. I loved the Mario Kart game The crowd seemed about the 18-25 range, kind of the quiet type. Lots of different kinds of music played which was nice that they could kind of cater to everyone. For such a cheap date night, we'll definitely be back! I'm not one to spend $12 on a single burger when I make my own pretty same good at home, so I loved that we got a meal for two for the same price as a fast food place here tonight but with much superior quality. I think this is our new Thursday night spot! I get my yummy stinky fries and hubs gets to play a ton of arcade and pinball games. The chill vibe means you don't even have to get all supa fancy for a fun night out and everyone there seemed to be in pretty good spirits BEERCADE IS A WINNER

My first impression of this place: a gamers casual bar Conveniently located on Whyte Ave by 106 Street, this bar features a nice layout of the space, heading up a staircase to token-fed arcade style games and a couple pool tables around the perimeter, with the main bar area right smack in the middle. I think the food kitchen was off to the side behind a wall of posters featuring daily deals (which would explain how food items magically appear out of nowhere) Great deals during the week (*hint: all-you-can-eat taco Tuesday!), lovely bar tender staff, tasty food and fun times makes this a nice place to hang out, especially for the college/university kids in the area (or anyone that enjoys a drink and snack/games without the unnecessary amounts of pick-ups at the bar or incessant grinding with extremely loud music). Ps - I recommend taking a group and stopping by for a taco and draft! Pps - Mario Kart tournament tonight was awesome!

    The atmosphere is great!

Another just-off-the-griddle review, having only now returned to the cave to digest and ponder. Hunnybunny and I were at Beercade for the Yelp Elité Party & Star Wars trivia contest. (For the record, and to never need to mention it again, we got stomped something fierce. The Force was weak with us.) Now on to happier topics: the food and drink and play. The play: lots of arcade machines from around the late 1980s, so no Galaxian, Defender, Robotron, or that vector graphics tank game that I loved so much. Several multi-player multi-station games. And the one that hunnybunny loved: a tetras-like game that looks at first glance like a claw that grabs prizes. She ate it's lunch, and had a blast trying to best it! The drink: lots of beers, ciders, and alcohols in general. The cider on tap tonight was very good. I made a no-carb tall diet coke & vodka that wasn't light on the pour; thank you bartender! The food: we got to enjoy the Korean BBQ Southern Fried Cauliflower, the tacos Al Pastor, and the Double Double burger. There's an interplay between the salty, sweet, crunchy, and soft of the Korean BBQ Southern Fried Cauliflower that does the homage to the Korean street food just right. (Edmontonians have the delicious SFC (Seoul Fried Chicken) around the corner to compare.) That it's cauliflower and not chicken-with-bones is a delight, and I give the chef a major thumbs-up. The tacos Al Pastor are delicious and filling. There's something ever-so-slightly missing, when I compare them to what I get from the food trucks in Oakland or South Central LA, but the chef will have to come visit with me and we'll get to the bottom of this mystery. I'll leave an asterisk here and make a note below... * The Double Double burger, explained by the chef as an homage to the US In-and-Out burger of the same name, is really balanced between the ingredients, and does evoke memories of "double-double animal style." Burgers are a really hard comfort food to get right, and nitpicking over tiny things aren't helpful to consumers nor chefs, so let's say this was a good one and I'd come back for another. Also, asterisk here: * About the asterisks: on this night things seemed to skew slightly sweet, which some at our table found off-putting. The Korean BBQ is supposed to be sweet, so no complaints there. The tacos and burger came across with a bit of a sweeter-than-necessary cast, which didn't significantly break them, but perhaps a bit less sweet and a touch more lemon or vinegar on the tacos (which I see on the trucks as pickled veggies) and a tweak to the burger special sauce to make it less cloyingly sweet. Okay, cloying is too strong a word; a touch too sweet for my completely subjective taste. Summary: had a great time here. The atmosphere is wonderful, the specials are spectacular and would totally draw me in (half-priced burger Wednesday, Oilers game-day specials), the drinks delivered, and the food shows the chef cares about, and is delivering, satisfying fare. Woot!

We first went last month but there was a private function. We went back Sat afternoon, there was not lot of people when we got there but got busier just before we left around 7pm. We did not order food, just beer and then played. Beer was excellent, lots of selection - have tried 4 and they were all really good and really cold I should say. Some bars have good beers but barely cold. Beer prices are reasonable too. One thing which i was not really happy about are the game prices. $1 = 1 token and most of the games need 2 tokens. I think it is kinda pricey and that the premium games should just be at a dollar and the rest are 50 cents. Or at least there should be a promotion like if you buy a beer, you get a token or something. Just saying :)

Burgers look good... I'm so frikkin hungry at the end of the day...

I can't possibly say more about a good bar with a smart concept. There are frequent regular specials, theme nights, good music and friendly staff all around. They keep up with local events and festivals and offer promos that are very attractive. If you have dietary concerns they are very accommodating, for me as a vegetarian I find there's quite a bit to eat and the kitchen is producing good quality pub grub. They have nachos and burgers, they also have... truffle fries, fried cauliflower, artistic pretzels, panko breaded goat cheese like OMG. There are 3 desserts but I've only tried the Irish Carbomb Bread Pudding... "Bailey's custard, Guinness ice cream and Jamieson's whiskey butter" this thing is an unbelievable bar dessert for $7. I can only imagine what the vanilla porter ice cream and dark chocolate brownie will be like, or the 3 scoops of Pinocchio's ice cream flavours (ask your server for the day's flavours) Michael really did a great job at taking care of us on a warm Sunday Funday afternoon visit, it was quiet and bright with the ample sunlight and low volume tunes. The attention to the volume of the music at appropriate time is highly appreciated, blaring techno at 2pm is extremely annoying in an empty bar, and yes everyone notices when bars do that. Sit at the bar on a busy night and you'll get service faster than you can raise your hand. Sit at a table and the wait staff will take care if you with frequent visits. Our last waitress Sydney was on+the+ball and there whenever we needed anything. Security is pretty on-the-ball when it gets busy on a Saturday night. People watching is sweetened here by the occasional tutu-wearing groom-to-be, or bridal veil-wearing stagette! I've been to a few places in my time from Montreal to Victoria, I really, really like this place. They're local, they're 'YEG to the core' and they offer a quality product at Beercade. Oh yeah, one more thing, the arcade games are choice, so pinball yourself into a frenzy, play a little Sega Daytona 4X racing, or dance your keister off on DDR, or the analog way (on a real life dance stage if you want to shake it for reals). Enjoy

Mucha Lucha burger (reg $15.50), subbed w/veggie patty, half off on Wed. Choice of sides. $4sleeve of peach cider too (reg$6?)

I love this place! Quickly becoming my favourite bar in town. My preferred night is Wednesday for half price burgers, which do include sides these days. There is a veggie burger on the menu, but I like to get the Mucha Lucha, or Black and Blue, with the veggie patty sub (no bacon on the latter). Both are surprisingly impressive for bar burgers, as good as any specialty burger joint, imo. Choices of sides include fries or homemade kettle chips in an assortment of flavoures, but you can upgrade to a Caesar salad or poutine for an addition cost. Fries are Cavendish brand, far as I can tell, like Costco. There are many other fab promo nights that are worth checking out if the burgers aren't your thing, and there's always great vegetarian options on the menu... it's actually a lot more veggie friendly than one would expect. Tuesdays have been some variation of Taco Tuesday for some time, but right now it's all you can eat for $6.99.... and they are soooo tasty! There are also drink specials most nights. Again, I'm mostly here on Wednesdays, so I get the $4 draught sleeve, specifically I go for the Big Rock Peach cider... if that's not your thing, there's about 50 other choices on tap and often specials on other things too. I think the biggest draw for most people here are the arcade games, but there is a decent dance floor and trivia nights too, if you are looking for variety to please a group. And you can text in to reserve a table on any night for free, even when the have Barnival nights (carnival themed with entertainment, free games and massive food and drink discounts). Regular price for most games are 1 token per game ($1 per token, no discount for volume buy, probably my only real complaint), with a small few being 2 tokens a game. If you beat a high score, you can get a $10gc - no hope for me, but I do have a lot of fun, and can typically hold my own against anyone I've come here with. I've read a lot of complaints about the service. When I came for free tacos back in February, it was so busy that I just went straight up to the bar to order, cause I honestly don't see how a server is supposed to find me when tacos are free. But the last few times that I've been in for the half priced burgers, I've sat by the windows, and Sydney has been the most amazing superstar server there ever was. Window seating is also nice cause it's a little quieter and it's nice to have a view of Whyte ave too. Besides the lack of discount on bulk purchases of tokens, I'm not overly keen on Whyte ave parking, ATM fees, and running into chatty drunk 18 year olds in the washroom #oldpeopleproblems but the things that I love about this place far outweigh those small complaints.

There is a ghostbusters pinball game! Awesome.
