Barely made it out but fun
Ieshia T.

Had a fun time with my team here the other day. I love a good riddle and excitement trying to figure things out together. Reminds me of National Treasure LOL. After talking to some of the other teams about their runs we realized that sometimes the clues then I'll go together and a lot of times you had absolutely no idea how you would have solved it without the help of the voice in the room. I also thought that we would be deducted time for each hint we asked for or help but that wasn't true in this case so there isn't a way to know who had more hints than other teams. That might just be the competitiveness than me but it's something to state. Nonetheless, we had a really good time together as a team and I would definitely go back to try again however would make sure it wasn't just two people. I think we had a good number of people per team. The staff was really nice and tips we were given were extremely helpful.

Island Escape!

Went to this Columbia location and did the Island Escape and loved it! It was perfectly medium with having enough activities to keep 4 people busy helping each other with figuring out the clues to escape. Chris was our room leader and was very nice and accommodating with our group. We were a few minutes late to our reserved time but he just started our room a few minutes later without docking our time. I highly recommend this location and trying these rooms. We will be back for more!

I came here for a work event at the end of June, with a large group who did different rooms. There is plenty of parking since it's near business offices. This was my first time in an Escape Room and I had a ball! I really enjoyed it. My team had 5 different people and we did escape the room before the time ended. We did an interesting room where we were handcuffed and blindfolded! It was called The Kidnapping Room I believe. The employee that was assigned to our room was really helpful in giving us a lot of tips on what to do next when we got stuck, and the space was clean and temperature controlled. Afterwards we could take pictures together and use the photo props they had. Overall, a great time and I would highly recommend. I would visit again too.

This was our first time at this escape room and my first-ever experience playing the Escape Room games. We did the Runaway Train and it was beyond amazing!! This particular escape room or the runaway train required solving a few basic math skills. - This is a hint. The Runaway Train was full of fantastic puzzles and a few codes. We managed to save everyone with minimal help from Jordan who was the staff assigned to us. For my first experience doing the escape room, I am hooked! I love watching Sherlock Homes, I enjoyed tapping into Sherlock Homes for the time, 44:30 it took us to stop the Runaway Train and stop the bomb from exploding. I can't wait to do another one!! If you're looking for an escape room that builds teamwork and quality time, this is the place you're looking for. Jordan was the game master and he was so friendly and awesome!

The Kidnapping - we broke out!

Too many codes and locks. I taught it would be more looking for hidden items. This was more like looking for codes to locks.

Mansion mystery was fun and challenging. We had to ask for a few clues from Honey and barely made it out in time!

We booked online in advance to get the time slot we wanted, but if your schedule is more flexible, there is currently a 15% discount special for walk-ins through 11/2/2025 (there are plenty of ways to kill time in this giant mall). I'm used to being paired with strangers, but each booking with Mission Escape is private, so your group will have the room to yourselves to figure out the puzzles and clues. It is an experience after all, so despite booking by room, you still pay per person (~$40). You should get there a few minutes early to sign the waiver. They also have restrooms inside to take care of business before you go locking yourselves in a room for an hour (technically 50 minutes). After we filled out the waivers, we were escorted to our room and the gamekeeper gave us an overview of the experience. Pictures are not allowed and phone use is not really allowed, other than to use as a flashlight or calculator. The room also had a small clipboard with paper and a pen if you needed scratch paper. For the fall season, they have some spookier themed rooms. I'm not into scary, so we did the Fantastical Chocolate Factory room (naturally). The room has a 6.5/10 difficulty, which I would say is one of the easier rooms. The rooms are small. We were a group of two, and three would've felt like a crowd... but they allow you to squeeze in up to eight people! Based on the room difficulty and our experience with escape rooms, two was plenty. They have an intercom system if you need to patch in for clues. They'll also give you warnings as time elapses (20 minutes remaining, 10 minutes remaining, etc.). We did need to ask for one clue towards the end... beware of red herrings (but that's part of the fun). Our goal in the chocolate factory room wasn't to escape, but rather to discover the secret recipe for the everlasting gobstopper. By "recipe," they mean "ingredient," which felt a bit anticlimactic at the end. I would've appreciated more debriefing at the end of the experience. With 10 minutes remaining, I went into panic mode and was able to crack the locks with the information that we had, but I'm not sure if we solved every clue as intended. When we "escaped," a staff member opened the door, congratulated us, and escorted us back to the front to snap a picture with their photobooth props. Other escape room companies have better branding to advertise their name, or allow you to at least snap one picture to showcase the room. Overall, it was a fun way to spend an evening. The decor inside the room was realistic to fit with the theme, the puzzles are a good balance of feeling challenging enough to make you problem-solve, but not so much to make it feel impossible, and there were subtle clues in the room to guide you along without having to ask for help constantly. I would book another experience with Mission Escape Rooms.

My friend and I got the instant access pass for an extra $25 and to be honest, it was worth every penny. With it being spooky month, we knew it would be jam packed. The line got general admission was ridiculous. The line to express access was better but still pretty long. Instant access allows you to skip the line and go straight to the entrance of the haunted house. The music was too loud to hear the instructions but I guess the gist is, don't run and don't touch the actors. I loved the design and themes of most rooms. Some left a little to be desired. I do wish there were a little more actors and better system of separating the parties. There were quite a few times we were able to see ahead so we knew what was coming. My favorite times were any moment where the actors interacted with the guests, like when we were chased. After the haunted house, you're able to buy merch and take photos. Although we didn't do the escape room, I liked that there was an option to do so this adding to the whole Halloween experience. All in all, I enjoyed my time at the House of Horror. While there could be some improvements with setup, I would still recommend it for others wanting to check out a local haunted house.

What was supposed to be a fun birthday activity for my mom ended up being frustrating from beginning to end. I brought my mom here for her birthday. Unfortunately, this experience completely changed my opinion of this place. We had a reservation and arrived early like instructed. We were told they were "about 10 minutes behind" because of technical difficulties, but 10 minutes turned into well over 30-40 minutes with almost no updates from staff! We even asked for a refund at one point because we had dinner reservations afterward and didn't want to keep waiting. We were basically told they'd "have to ask the owner another day." Since nothing was guaranteed and I was doubtful due to the lack of professionalism, we just decided to do the room anyway. Because of the delay, we ended up missing our dinner reservation for my mom's birthday. The escape room itself was honestly just as frustrating. We were told we wouldn't need to bend down for clues, but important items were hidden low under furniture. Several puzzles didn't connect well, some clues/items were never even used and certain props seemed broken or weren't working correctly. The biggest issue was how hard it was to get help. We repeatedly raised our hands asking for hints or clarification and would wait several minutes with no response. At one point we genuinely thought something in the room was broken and couldn't get anyone to answer us. There was also a super dark section where we couldn't even read what was on the walls, and again, staff barely responded when we asked for help and use our flashlight. What's disappointing is that I previously had good experiences here, but this visit felt really disorganized and unprofessional from start to finish. It honestly felt like a waste of money and put a damper on my mom's birthday, which is the most upsetting part.

We saw Outbreak from Big Escape Room had a 9% or 19% success rate (you see both numbers written on their website so I'm not sure what the actual % is) and that they could accommodate up to 10 people, so we booked that one. There is the option to reserve the entire room, which we preferred so that our group could have the room to ourselves. I asked if there was room to store our belongings, and they had a room we could reserve for $$, but I was just curious if we had cubbies or anything. In general, the escape room itself is fine for storing belongings. - Logistics - Once we arrived, we had to wait until past our reservation time because they were still setting up the room and waiting for the group before us to finish. We ended up starting ~30 minutes after our reservation time, which became part of the reason we were late to our dinner reservation after that. On top of that, we were told there was a lock in our room that wasn't working, so they suggested we do the Clown room instead. We decided to continue doing Outbreak but told them to just leave the lock open, and only grant us permission to move ahead once we figured out the code. I had read reviews that the equipment wasn't maintained very well, and that was the first indication of that. We hadn't even started the room yet! - The Room Experience - Things were largely fine in the first room we were in, but again we found locks that weren't working properly. When we managed to get the code, we only got half of the lock open and then lowkey brute-forced the contents out because we weren't sure we were going to get the other side. Thank goodness the contents were small enough to make it out. The second room was chaotic. We also started to ask for hints once we arrived in this room, but our walkie talkie was improperly set, so I had to leave the room to find the staff to help us out. That took up time to set up, and the staff weren't sure where we how far along we had gotten, so that took up even more time out of our time limit. I couldn't tell if they were on their phone for work or leisure, but hopefully the former... The worst part comes towards the end. We had finally made progress, but the solution we got to the math problem wasn't opening up the lock despite the game guide's instructions that it would. So much time had run out at that point, including the time limit, during which staff came in to explain what went wrong for us. One of the staff members actually had not played/made the game, so they couldn't not walk us through the solution and instead needed to call another person to do that. They could have invested in more training for staff... When we finally got the explanation for the lock, it turns out they gave us the wrong formula for the solution??? How many people have done the room with the wrong formula? Why didn't the staff test out everything, including the formula, to make sure it actually works? Despite the many things that went wrong, they let us finish up the room past our time limit after identifying the error was on their part. Most anticlimactic exit ever, but an exit nonetheless. We were late to our dinner reservation already, so we decided we might as well finish this out. - Overall - The staff are kind, but this is not an escape room I recommend or will be returning to any time soon.
