Very nice hospitality and good food. We got a table as soon as we walked in; and they were quite packed on a Friday morning. Clean, cozy and simple decor. My only constructive feedback would be table spacing; it was quite tight and I could barely move, as the person behind me needed more space, so he'd had taken some of my space, which I didn't mind at all but I felt a little stiff not being able to move my chair and worried that I'd make the other person feel uncomfortable if I did. I wasn't quite sure about their "fresh squeezed orange juice" - I saw them pour it in a glass from a bottle so that got me concerned because it did not seem like it was freshly squeezed. I had to ask because I cannot do added sugars, they confirmed there wasn't any sugar or additives. I believed them and drank it, it was delicious! My only constructive feedback here would be to scrap of "freshly squeezed" from the menu, as it is misleading. Other than that, good food and very good service.

Old faithful. The homemade jam is amazing

A hipster brunch place that serves good quality, fresh, and creative dishes. We've been here twice, and we were impressed by the duck confit, gluten free waffles, chicken sausages, and the homemade jam. I usually dislike jam, but their jam is absolutely delicious. Coffee is good, too. Service is chill and friendly. Portions are very decent. The oil they use to fry eggs tastes good and clean. I cannot stand the bad oil taste from a lot of other diners. We will be back to try other dishes.

Been meaning to try this place for awhile because it kept popping up on my search. Went there without a reservation on a Sunday afternoon and got in! It helped that we went 1hr before closing so the wait time wasn't that bad (around 15mins). We didn't get any drinks here but the food was soo good! vegan fried tofu & veggie hash - so flavourful! it came with fried brussels sprouts, sautéed mushrooms, avocado, baby tomato, alfalfa, vegan sundried tomato mayo, lotus chips. The lotus chips were super crispy and added a good texture to the food! chicken karaage hash - two eggs, nori, sesame seeds, pickled vegetables, house made mayonnaise, sweet chilli sauce. It is one of their famous dishes and I can see why! beef bulgogi hash - two eggs, kimchi, sautéed mushrooms, sautéed spinach, sesame seeds, and sweet chilli sauce. I love that the beef was minced, the flavours mixed well with it. For dessert we got their off-menu ovaltine creme brulee, I thought it would be extremely sweet but it was not! It was the perfect amount of sweet. Good interiors with enough space for a big group size and the service was fast and warm. 5/5 would recommend!

Ube latte. Soooo good!!

We randomly popped into this place while browsing Granville for a quick lunch. We were seated right away inside. We ordered the Smoked steelhead lox salad and the Hipster Benedict (sorry! No pictures). The salad was quite tasty and the crispy soba noodles added a nice crunch. The Benedict was also very good with eggs perfectly cooked. I usually don't order drinks but the Ube Latte intrigued me, so I ordered it. I don't want to say it changed my life but I did find myself googling a recipe for an ube latte so I could try and make it at home. It was so delicious! We weren't able to sit outside but there is a cute and cozy outdoor area that we will try and sit in next time. The food was excellent, the staff was super friendly and the vibe was quaint and cute. Will definitely be back again.

Vegan fried daikon cake and tofu bowl
Matt B.

Solid enough breakfast/brunch spot with a single vegan option. I decided to do an UberEats order for brunch one day -- the order was on my doorstep half an hour later. I got their vegan fried daikon cake and tofu bowl ($18.50 plus tax and UberEats fees). The bowl was decently structured, with tofu, daikon, avocado, sprouts, cherry tomato, edamame, and served over rice. I'd say too much deep fried stuff -- between the deep fried tofu and deep fried daikon, it was fairly oily/deep fry-heavy. Still, the mix of different items was good, but missing some greens I'd say. The sauce they drizzled over the bowl was nice. All in all, decent bowl, but I'd design the bowl quite differently if it were up to me.

This place I would say might not be everyone's cup of tea (pun intended....why not.) I'll tell you why. It's a very local hipster style join, and you can feel it by first walking in. They are welcoming and friendly, but the standard and quality entirely reflect your typical even stereotyped neighbourhood diner. Sometimes, with places like that, standards tend to slip, because the majority of diners who tend to be locals choose to love the place in spite of its quirks. It was a very wet day that morning and naturally the floor was wet and I nearly slipped inside. Perhaps mop the floor dry when mother nature decides to join us inside? I wanted a latte and asked our friendly server if he'd recommend a second shot as I like my coffee strong, and I was told it already came with two shots. It didn't. It was one shot at most.....and tasting mainly of just hot soy milk made into a pretty shape. Personally, I don't care how pretty my morning coffee is....it could look like a troll, but if it's strong...it's got my vote. Moving on...... The Egg Avocado Toast was ok....some red onions, radish and drizzles of balsamic on there. I tend to gravitate more toward a "less is more", and "minimalist" but quality approach. So, I could've gone without the fresh onion and balsamic on my palate first thing in the morning. You know, when I was in college I remember every serving job I had.....we had to clean the table with both a wet cloth and a dry one... to ....well....dry it. We sat down at a wet table...another thing I could've gone without. Breakfast Table was worth trying for the first time. Interesting experience. Never been to a hipster.....well anything.....it was different. Will there be a second time? Probably not.

Friendly and smooth service. Food came out quickly and tasted great. Decently sized so you'll be seated fairly quickly. Calming atmosphere so perfect for brunch.

Explored this goodie for a family Sunday brunch - note that this place gets madly busy - so I highly suggest to reserve your table ! We reserved ours and they were spot on with having the table ready by the requested time - nothing challenging there - check out the food journey here - https://www.instagram.com/vanleo.eatsfood1015/ Service team was outstanding - and was very descriptive and knowledgeable about menu items - and made great thoughtful and honest suggestions - Food was visually stunning and flavors were all very great - I probably stuffed my face with everything - But the dish that was probably less of a wow was the coffee crusted pork belly benedict - the coffee notes just weren't really there and I didn't really find the pork to have much of a crust - it was still good - but just not what was expected - Overall it was a great - tasty experience - The lost star is probably not entirely on the restaurant but other factors - 1. Parking along the street was $7/Hour - meaning 14-21 depending if you needed 2 or 3 hours for your experience - there is some free residential parking further along the way - that you could attempt to get - but it will probably give you a 10-15 walk to the restaurant - and for a rainy day that wasn't the plan xD 2. The slightly disappointing crusted pork belly - Anyways, I do suggest you give this a try - I'll probably be back someday :) Let me know your favs !

Coffee crust belly eggs benedict

Looking online it showed there was a long queue. But when I drove by it didn't seem to be too busy so we popped in and luckily we were seated right away. The coffee crusted pork belly eggs benedict was perfect. Since after covid when I eat pork it has an off putting taste, but surprisingly this did not. I found it was really loud inside and it was hard to have a conversation. We had to kind of yell to hear each other. But the service was good and food was good. 10/10 would come again

Beef bulgogi hash & Benedict (forgot exact type)
Vivien L.

I visited on a weekday and it was busy, but we were seated almost immediately. My partner and I ordered a benedict and beef bulgogi hash. We thought the benedict was ok, and I really loved the beef bulgogi hash! It was very flavorful and I took home leftovers. If I'm back in the area, I'll definitely come back just to order this.

Vegan tofu bowl

Come early and reserve your spot. We waited 45 mins for a table on a Saturday morning. It was a small restaurant with tight space, but the wait was worth it. The vegan bowl was 8/10. It was a sweet tangy sauce with nori. I love the CRISPY RICE. The fried tofu was soft but too plain. It was filling and worth the price. The grapefruit mimosa ($7.95) was delicious. You can taste the freshness and bitterness of the grapefruit juice.

Japanese mushroom Benedict

Interesting brunch menu. The restaurant does not take reservations The restaurant always packed and quite loud

Eggs Benedict
Stephanie M.

Came on a Wednesday for brunch at around 12:00 pm. We were seated right away as there was no waitlist. Lots of seating available inside. I ordered the eggs Benedict. The eggs were perfectly cooked - medium and runny (they ask you for your preference which is nice). The carrots were on the harder side so if you like yours more cooked through these are not for you. I wish there was a bit more hollandaise sauce. The potatoes were standard roasted potatoes, nothing special. Well roasted not overdone. The flavours were all well done. Not overly salty or under seasoned. The price was adequate for the amount of food we received. The service was quick and attentive. Good brunch option in the area.

Service was good, friendly. The restaurant is the same as I recall, clean enough. A little cramped and the seating isnt too comfortable. Its really not a good place to hang out for a long time, but rather sit down, eat, and get out type of place. I had the lavender latte and the Tagine this time. Ive had it before and at least its pretty consistent. Ive tried several other things on their menu in the past too, all pretty solid 4/5. Nothing standout as so amazing to deserve 5 stars, but consistent and tasty. I did have a reservation which they charge $10/person for, purely for donation to a charity and does not contribute to your meal at all, and also nonrefundable. While I find this somewhat annoying, I dont blame them for doing this from a business standpoint. They always have a lineup so there is no shortage of customers for them. There is no reason they need to deal with the headache of a ton of reservations. On the flip side, they honoured my reservation in a very timely fashion and I bypassed the line, so props to them for doing that part right. If you have to park, then you may find street metered parking or use one of the nearby paid lots.

I chose to sit outside on the patio instead of inside at the bar to take in that Canadian Vitamin D! It was sunny and hot, but the patio had a great view and was perfect for people-watching. My server, Dursh (or something close to that), was really cool. He asked my name, made me feel welcomed, and gave solid recommendations. He even picked my drink for me, which I ended up enjoying. He suggested a Benedict dish, but I'm not a fan of runny eggs. I had already decided on the El Camino poutine and plot twist....it also came with two runny poached eggs. Even so, it was still delicious, mainly because the yolk texture wasn't an issue with the crema on the dish. That poutine was an easy 9/10. It came loaded with cheese curds, pork carnitas that weren't dry at all, bacon, pinto beans, roasted pineapple for a little sweetness, salsa, jalapeños, pickled onions, salsa verde, cilantro crema, and spinach. The herb potatoes were seasoned so well too. All in all, a great last meal in Vancouver from the food to the service (even beyond Dursh, everyone was helpful) to the patio vibe. Great spot.

I was meeting a friend here yesterday who's visiting from California, and when deciding on a meeting place, we realized a bunch of the Gastown coffee roaster places were closed on Sunday, so I mentioned Breka , knowing it was opened 24/7. (LOVE this!). Plus, this site is close to Waterfront Station, and my friend had a busy day planned, taking the Seabus to N.Van and doing a lot of sightseeing. So this Breka was perfect. I was there early at 10 am-ish, and from the outset, I was impressed: exposed brick wall, long counter and display case, fully stocked with the most beautiful pastries and tarts and cakes, and lovely looking sandwiches, too....Just lovely. I ordered a tea from the guy taking the orders. At the check-out, the woman working the cashier was the most unfriendly, aloof person I have ever encountered at a Breka. She was downright dour. Never looked up, never smiled, said I owed X for the tea I ordered, gave me a receipt and said I was "number 3", no "thank you" (despite my saying thanks!), nothing. She looked really unhappy and bothered to be there. (I sat at a nearby table, waiting for my number to be called. I saw her interactions with all the people behind me - and there were quite a few, as it got suddenly busy in the cafe. She was cold and unfriendly to everyone in line as she rang them all up. These are mostly tourists! Why have a dour, borderline-hostile woman at the check-out counter of a busy cafe in a touristy part of our city? I just don't get it). Anyhow, I waited 10 minutes to hear my number called, but I never heard it. I walked up to the take-out area and there was my tea, on a receipt that said "number 3". Did they call out my number? I honestly don't know. I was seated at a table a few feet from the area and listening for my number and I didn't hear it called. I was not impressed with this set-up. Not at all. My friend arrived and got a chocolate concoction which looked amazing, and he loved it, so there's that. I still love Brekas but I probably won't return to this site. Between the cold experience at the cash and the prolonged waiting for my order (a cup of tea!), and not being sure if my order number was ever called, it just all left me with a bitter taste in my mouth.

We were having gorgeous weather in Vancouver so we decided to eat on the covered patio. The place is pretty cozy, but was only moderately busy when we went. They have a pretty good menu with lots a Benedict's and a build your own breakfast option that seemed pretty nice. I took the recommendation from our server and got the bacon benny. It did not disappoint. I think I have recently discovered that I love poached eggs and these were perfect. The yolk was nice and runny and the white was firm but not hard. I like to cut in to my egg and have it run down and get messy on the plate. The hollandaise was excellent. So many breakfast places will serve it broken, but not here. It had the perfect amount of lemon, butter ratio for my taste and I really enjoyed it. The bacon was good, not to salty, and the english muffin was, well, an English muffin from a package that they toasted and out on the plate. I did splurge and paid the extra dollar for the truffle potatoes and they were very good. I love truffle oil on potatoes so I am a sucker for it whenever its on a menu. You just cant mess it up. Fried potatoes, truffle oil, and a lemon squeeze to bring it all together. My wife got the brunch burger and she loved it. It was a messy breakfast burger that a lot of places have but this one was done right. A poached oozy egg, on a burger patty with american cheese, the best burger cheese in my opinion, bacon, hollandaise and arugula on a brioche bun! It came with tater tots and they were nice and crispy just like she likes them. Well, why didn't I give it five stars you may be asking? Great question. Here it is, each plate came with a side that was just awful. Mine had some "fresh" fruit that nearly made me laugh. It consisted of the saddest, limpest piece of watermelon I have ever seen this side of a trash can. I also had an old crusty orange wedge and a single grape. My wife got a slimy side salad that I think was holding on for dear life. Both, we deemed inedible and moved on immediately. I think there is a rule, or at least there should be one, in restaurants that if you wouldn't eat it then don't serve it. There might be another one that says if you eat rotten food maybe get a different job and see rule one. Overall, we liked the place and would go back. We would just avoid the salads and fresh fruit and stick to the food they cook.

But first, the food - I ordered scrambled eggs, chicken apple sausage and paid an extra $1 for truffled lemon potatoes. The verdict? 4 out of 5. I'd ordered the eggs "very soft" and they verged on medium-firm. They still tasted good. I'll gladly pay extra for the truffled potatoes next time. My husband ordered the salmon avocado benny. While he loved the tomato soup he chose on the side, he was less enamoured by the benny itself. I had a taste and was underwhelmed by a forkful of overripe avocado and slightly fishy-tasting salmon. We finished with an order of beignets which despite being freshly-fried, were bland; although the accompanying strawberry sauce was deliciously tangy-sweet. Onto the service. This place spins like a top, and I mean that in a good way. Although we came at a peak time, all front of the house staff we encountered -- from the hostess to our bubbly server, to the smooth manager -- struck a perfect balance of being in flow, working flawlessly together, and maintaining light conversation with us. Exemplary. 5 stars out of 5.
