Angel's Dining Car is touted as Florida's oldest continuously operating diner, located in Palatka,…read moreFlorida inside a converted vintage rail car since 1932. This place is one of those rare gems that if happen to be in the northeast part of Florida, you should stop here! And an even bigger if, if you are in Palatka on Tuesday or Friday, you have pleasure of ordering Lou's famous fried chicken. There are other items on the menu that are worthy of your order, with this fried chicken is to lunch for! My dining companion and I split the three-piece fried chicken entrée, which was served with french fries and coleslaw. I am sure that the meal was under $11, and was worth every penny. We had to save room because we wanted to try the ice cream shop down the street. The fried chicken was crispy on the outside and moist and savory on the inside. The french fries were spot on crispy and the coleslaw is a perfect final option for this meal. Service was very friendly and cheerful. We could tell this is the kind of place that the local frequent. Although we elected to eat inside due to the heat of the day, there is outdoor seating and I think carhop service outside. The restaurant serves breakfast all day as well as other sandwich options. This restaurant is as iconic to Florida as any museum, and is worth a repeat visit!

I have been coming here for years, and I've seen how this place has changed--and stayed the same!…read moreIn a recent visit, some of the classic charm is still there even if their old cash register is not! I think it's not trying to chase some form of nostalgia instead of just be itself (there's huge figurines around the property, for example, of Elvis). This is classic diner fare and they do a pretty good job of it. I think their milkshakes are pretty great because they are made with thick ice cream and spun right there. I've been getting the Black Bottom for years. As time has gone by, I think this has slowly become more and more eggy vs hamburger-y. This is a bit of a disappointment, to be honest, as it's very unique to Angel's. The tea is still good. Prices have remained reasonable in spite of the years. The diner itself is just as run-down as I remember it every time. But on my most recent visit, the air conditioning didn't leak on me!

Biscuit was fluffy with a little bit of crisp, eggs were cooked to perfect and the home fries, onions, sausage and bacon were cooked well. Would definitely recommend coming in to eat as this place is 24 hours, small with a very 50 diners feel, and the staff works hard and is very helpful to take care of all your needs. I'll be back to try one of their smothered fry dishes which looked really bomb. Great place for breakfast!
