Grossly disappointing. The place wasn't busy at all (720pm on a Monday) but service was almost non-existent. Finally a server came out to ask us if she could help us. Well, yes, we'd like to have dinner. Will that be carry out or will you be dining inside? OK, whatever. The drinks came with barely an inch of ice in the plastic glass. We asked for a cup of ice but never received it. The ribs and chicken were passable but the sliced barbecue was cold and tasted old. They were out of one of the sauces. The inside was frigid. I swear it felt like they had the a/c set to like 57°. Brrrrr. This was not a terribly pleasant experience. Now ... cue corporate to respond with a canned message asking (or " askin' " since whoever responds thinks it cute to drop the 'g') me to email them with details of my visit. Nope. Horrible. We were in the drive thru on 5/12/26 at 11am. There were 2 cars in front of us. The first car ordered so much that the second car left. It took 15 mins for the initial car to even finish ordering food. It was the equivalent of a catering order. Rather than having them go into the store to order, they took the order and had the rest of the line wait while they fulfilled the initial order. The lane became 7 cars long while waiting. 3 of those cars left due to the wait. We still had not even had our order place by 11:30am. Therefore, we left. Poor! I am a regular who lives locally and goes through the drive-thru to order a pound of pulled pork weekly. It has become a bunch of slop that I wouldn't feed to my dog! It sits in a pile of grease that I have to pour off, and the amount of fat outweighs anything edible. After giving this business 15 years of being a regular, it has become so bad that I am getting my barbecue elsewhere. I have returned it too many times to count, and today was the final time because the replacement was worse than what I returned. The manager knows me now and doesn't care either. Slow cooked tasty and absolutely delicious bbq today. I enjoyed the smoked pulled pork sandwich with fries. Came out a tad bit on the warm side. Probably because we had a large group of people and the sand which was made first. But no matter that it was t piping hot, the bbq taste and the tender pork made this an excellent sandwich Good amount of sauces available on the table for that extra bbq flavor. Moved away 3 yrs ago and had been wanting Sonny's BBQ for some time. Tonight I was in the area and stopped in for some baby back ribs& 2 sides. Sorry Sonny's the ribs were not your best. Unfortunately I was able to let my server know cause I didn't see her (Linda), after she took my order. Some else delivered my food. They were busy to be expected for a Friday night at 5:30pm. I've seen billboards advertising Sonny's BBQ frequently when I have traveled through Florida but this was my first visit. Very friendly service and good food. I stopped by for a late lunch. After I was seated service was prompt, with my drink served quickly, followed by my appetizer. I ordered the loaded tots, which were drizzled with queso, BBQ sauce, and topped with onion straws. The tots were perfectly fried to a light golden brown, and were served hot. My main course was the BBQ salad, which featured iceberg lettuce, grilled corn, tomatoes, red onion, and shredded cheddar. It was drizzled with BBQ sauce and served with smokin ranch on the side. It was a tasty combination of ingredients. My server was really excellent, she kept checking on me and refilling my drink. Got the pick two plate combo where do I begin? Our waitress was friendly and nice. I am not trying to sound like a know it all a**hole but I'm from TN and I know good BBQ and this was not it! Pulled pork was cold and tasted two days old, Sweet baked potato was cooked with mold attached to it, The Baked Beans tasted like they were cooked with syrup or jelly it was too much, Cole Slaw tasted like plain shredded cabbage flavorless. My family and I are on our way back to Atlanta and we decided to stop and pick up dinner. Sonny's was really good. The restaurant was really clean, friendly employees and very helpful with the menu. I wanted ribs, so I had ribs, Mac and cheese, corn on the cob, and baked beans. My husband ordered The Whole Hog. That consist of sausage, pulled pork and sliced pork. I don't eat sausage, so I didn't get any of his sandwich. But I shared my food with our son and my husband. It was enough for us 3. I don't like Texas toast, so I didn't eat that. Since we were sharing, my husband and son ate that. I had lemonade and my husband had tea. We had some food left over as well for later. They have a catering menu which is really reasonable and the menu is also reasonable. Many adult beverages as well and also many soft drinks. If I had to do it all over again, I would select the corn on the cob, baked beans and smoked turkey. I didn't see turkey on the menu, so I was really disappointed with myself. After making our choices the food came out cold and at this point I was done. Asked to speak to manager and was told he would be over. The manager never showed up at all. Just drove 300 miles with another 200 to go and needed to get a quick bite. Stopped at Sonny's and was in and out in under 30 mins (restaurant was 75% full). Smoking different meats is a hobby for me so I know what to look for. I had the sliced brisket with green beans and would definitely give it a 8 out of 10. The bark was not as crisp as I like but then, it rarely is in a restaurant that moves a lot of product. Kendra was my server and was pleasant with all smiles. Great young server that got a great tip for being on top of things without being intrusive. Restaurant was clean and perfect temp inside. Music was low but you could still hear it. I went in for a late lunch while I was delayed in the area. The service was good, the food, not so much. The loaded tots were good and fresh, as were the ribs. The sides were just ok, not a big fan of the flavor of either. I also didn't care for the sausage for the same reason. I always order brisket when I have a chance, and I regretted it this time. It was very dry, enough so that I couldn't finish it. I normally wouldn't mention something like bread, but it also went unfinished, as it had either been retained too long or the bread was too old when it was prepared. Hubby and I ate here for the first time. We ordered online and did curbside pick up. Service was not great. My husband had to go back in 3 times to get what we ordered. Once we had it, to start off the BBQ egg rolls were amazing! Hubby had the chopped brisket which he really enjoyed, along with the beans. I had the pulled chicken. Mine was a little dry, I think they used the white meat which is always dry to me. We are from Texas and in Texas when ya order a pulled chicken bbq sandwich, the chicken itself is tossed in BBQ sauce before putting on a bun, here that is not the case, which also makes it taste dry even if Sauce is added to sandwich. Guess that's just my thoughts. In conclusion, check your order before pulling away, and try the egg rolls! read more
