Made an out of the way stop to try this place for coffee and a snack on our way home from Cataract Falls. It wasn't clear what their hours were: the website said they were open until 4pm, while the hours posted Google and on the door said 2pm, and here on Yelp it says 3pm. They also had a paper sign taped to the door saying they would close that day at 1pm. Fortunately we made it there a half hour before closing, but it would probably be a good idea for them to sort that out across the various platforms. I ordered a latte with praline syrup which was nice (the cups and lids were kind of the best I've seen at a coffee shop, which is random, but worth mentioning) as well as a bagel and a donut. The donut was a chocolate long john and I asked the person taking my order if they were filled or unfilled. They said unfilled, which is what I wanted, but when I got back to my car, it was filled. My husband went in to place his own order, so he purchased another normal chocolate frosted donut and it was fine, but I would have been bummed if I had been on my own and gotten the wrong thing. My bagel was good and my husband enjoyed the coffee and pastry he ordered, plus my reject donut. ;) Looks like it'd be a nice place to stay and enjoy a meal or do some work, as there was a whole separate sitting area upstairs. read more

After a wonderful lunch at TapHouse Burgers, stopped into Breadworks for a treat! They are literally across from each other, so make sure you continue to give back to the local eateries! Anyway, walked into the cutest shop with wonderful employees ready to serve. Ordered a wonderful tasting espresso to go and a couple of donuts for the road back home. Tried the sprinkle birthday cake donut and a regular yeast donut. There were many options for bread choices and saw a large open space upstairs as well as a good amount of seating downstairs. Appears you can watch the bakery working while sitting as well, which is a nice add to any cafe/coffeeshop. PROS: Space is large and inviting Friendly staff Easy parking across the street or on the street Cake donut was great, needs a few more sprinkles but great Coffee taste was great, had a double espresso so definitely tasted the coffee Breakfast sandwiches were on the menu, did not try, but great option CONS: Yeast donut- depends on what you like. It is a thicker yeast donut not the light and fluffy I can eat 10 at a sitting type of yeast, but the taste was good HIGHLY RECOMMEND STOPPING INTO THIS ONE STOP SHOP! read more

The good was it seemed like a nice coffee shot. But then while waiting for our drinks/food I witnessed some very poor food service uncleanliness. The gal making some drinks used the same rag to clean counter and then wiped rio of 2 different drinks. And then when she was asked if she put our food in she said no and continues using dirty rag. She did not make my drin. The guy did. Thank goodness I would not of drank the drink. The place is very clean other than that. Needs seating down stairs for those who don't want to climb ch this was back in August read more

I love trying coffee at new places when I'm traveling and this place has easily some of the best coffee I've ever had! They were out of a couple of items but the cashier has great recommendations otherwise! I got a bagel sandwhich as well which was absolutely delicious. The building itself was really cute too, they have an upstairs that would be a perfect entertaining space as well! read more

Pretty cute coffee/donut/bread shop but it's a little overrated especially for the prices. The specialty lattes are just ok (and our last ones were hardly warm) and nothing stands out with them. Donuts are the same way. I really like the overall vibe though and there's plenty of seating! read more

Great location, exquisitely clean, fresh aromas of bakery items, and fantastic employees working at the location. The cup of joe was good, the donuts were a little picked over for being 9:45am, but still got a dozen. The donuts were priced great, and the donuts were good. Also, got a few cakes in a cup, will try those later this evening. Definitely stop in if in the area. read more

Wanted to give this 5 stars - the atmosphere is fantastic (great areas to work), and the coffee was good, but they were out of bread. At 10:00 in the morning. All bread... I could smell bread baking and it smelled delicious. We did try a donut and it was a little small, but very tasty. Solid four even without bread. read more

This is a cute little place for good coffee and bread, muffins and breakfast sandwiches. There's an elevator to go upstairs for seating which is helpful because the first floor is just a few seats. Hats off to the owner, Joyce Green, a DePauw alum who has done such good things to energize Greencastle. read more

I would give zero stars if I could. Why would you take all the time to bake fresh bread and then microwaved it and serve it to your customers. Yes the oven they use is a microwave/oven combo and the breakfast sandwich that I got from there was a soggy nasty mess. I just cannot believe you would take the time to build a giant beautiful facility like this and serves such a terrible product. The sandwich was not edible so I asked to trade it for a plain croissant. The croissant I was served was honestly the worst croissant I've ever had in my life. Is there any butter in that croissant? It taste like it was made with Crisco. Please if you're going to have a bakery, don't serve crap. read more

Starbucks is better than this. Food is premade and microwaved, coffee ok, staff is odd cashier won't look u in the face

Today's visit was so-so. Cinnamon roll was dry with little flavor, coffee was fine but refill was full of grounds. Not their best effort today. Their breakfast sandwiches are pre made and the croissant is smashed flat like two pieces of toast. I've had the bagel sandwich and it's okay. Very little flavor to an Asiago cheese bagel. Donuts in the past have been really dry along with their scones. read more

The donuts and pastries are delicious. They have the best coffee & cappuccino flavors. You can get deserts as well! Everything is made fresh in house & you can taste the difference. The staff is very friendly & answers any question you have with kindness. I highly recommend this place! read more

I have been wanting to try Breadworks since they opened their doors in October. My dream came true today with the first delicious bite of their cherry turnover. THE best I have ever had! The perfect amount of fruit filling and glaze. Of course, I could not only eat just one. I also ordered a glazed donut. A nice and substantial donut that had me wishing I had room for another. Perfection! Topped it off with a regular coffee with half and half. The building is beautiful and I would recommend this experience to anyone. I am already planning a trip back. read more

Since I am a fan of the two (currently) other restaurants owned and operated by Bridges in Greencastle, I have been following the construction and opening of this new 2 story restaurant in downtown Greencastle. Plenty of free street parking and a public lot (free) across the street make it easy. (Just watch the 2 hr time limit.) My wife and I stopped in just after 11 when the lightly advertised Bistro opened on the second floor. The first floor is the bakery and they have a display case by the entrance with some of the pastries available (unlabeled though. You just have to ask what they are.) There was also a cart filled with donuts farther back which made it a little more difficult to figure out what kinds they had available. We decided to pick up some "strawberry crossovers" that are glazed folded crispy Phyllo dough filled with jelly. It would be nice if they had a price list and all the available options were labeled and closer to the customers. Upstairs, there is a lot of seating for the Bistro which opens at 11. They have both stair and elevator access. You order and pay at the counter and they give you a number to take to your table for dine in customers. A Waitress then brings your beverages and food items and utensils/napkins. (They also bus your table regularly if you have used plate or paper.) My wife and I both ordered the Prime Rib Sandwich on sourdough which was excellent: Both the bread and the meat. However, the sandwiches are a la carte. Chips are $2 extra and soups and salads run in the $4 to $6 range. Although we liked our sandwiches, I would have to say it would be nice if they offered an au jus sauce for dipping or put some kind of flavored condiment on the sandwich. They don't have much to offer. Note that the tables do not come with any extras other than sugar type items for your coffee drinks. No salt or pepper. The staff was friendly and everyone seemed well spaced and masked. Note that within a short period (a month or two) the Bistro will only be open until 4 and at 5, will be replaced by another new restaurant called Umami which will specialize in sushi. Something else to look forward to in 2021! Greencastle is just a short drive west of Indy and has its own exit so for me, it doesn't take any longer than Carmel/Noblesville or Bloomington. Good food and tasty pastries with a smile. Check them out for something new! Review #3827 read more

Nice addition to Greencastle. Beautiful building. Nice selection of donuts, breads and specialty coffees on the first floor. But no bagels or scones, bummer! The second floor is the bistro and sushi area. You go to the counter to place your food and drink order. Note, the specialty coffees on the first floor are not available on the second floor. They then will give you a number and bring your order to the table of your choice. Free WIFI and it looks like that is the real MVP during the afternoon. My last visit I had a glass of wine, truffle caesar salad and the fall grilled cheese. The grilled cheese was good and had wonderful flavor. It was very sweet, I am assuming from the apple butter. The one thing I didn't love about it is how sticky the sandwich was. I needed to wash my hands immediately after eating it! Unfortunately, I will not recommend the truffle caesar salad. The lettuce, dressing and plate were warm. A caesar salad is not a salad I want warm. Or a warm plate. *I have yet to try their sushi so I will update my review once I have. read more

Treated my daughter to an afternoon pick me up with iced beverages and a cranberry orange muffin on this hot summer day. We intended to go to Starbucks next door but they closed early so glad to end up at Breadworks. Muffin was excellent, not your average cranberry orange muffins -- crusted sugar top, very fruity, whole cranberry in almost every bite, lemon zests al around, fresh, and sweet. The iced oat milk latte was over the top, got the strong coffee aroma, glazed with caramel and just the right amount of sweetness. I'm not an ice coffee person but I would order this menu item again. Love the vibe very clean, nice decorated, and friendly staffs. Great place to gather for sure, and certainly a great addition to downtown Greencastle. read more

I've been watching the construction and development of Breadworks, just waiting for it to open - and it was worth the wait. I live just outside Chicago but frequently visit my parents who live in Putnam County. I was just in town and called a day ahead to place an order of various breads and sweets. When I got there for pick up, there were some amazing smells coming from the upstairs bistro, so I checked that out too. The donuts and strudels I purchased were very yummy and I would buy them again. The apple fritter was outstanding and it seemed like it was made with fresh apples, not a canned apple pie filling. (if it was a canned mix, I'm super impressed) The sourdough bread and baguette were some of the best I have ever tasted. The baguette rivals NYC's Levain. I regret I did not buy more. The thing that surprised me most was the rotisserie chicken. I bought the last two they had for $10 each. It is the best rotisserie chicken I have ever tasted. They are prepped and made on site, the meat is superior quality and incredibly juicy... it's not greasy like so many store-bought rotisserie chickens tend to be. I will definitely be picking up an order to bring home every time I visit my parents. I am beyond impressed by this gem of a bakery/bistro and jealous I don't have one near me! read more

Recently visited DePauw and HAD to swing by Breakworks to grab a coffee before my meeting. Besides the coffee being ever so tasty, the building is state of the art. The first floor of the building serves as a coffee bar and the top turns into a sushi bar at night! I was so tempted by the muffins, breads, donuts, cake cups, dare I continue? I opted just for a coffee, but can't wait for my next trip back! Perfect spot to host a meeting or get some work done! read more

It was such a Long wait. Thankfully the food and donuts are good. Was very surprised their coffee wasn't remarkable.

The latte was good. The bagel was not. It was a bread roll. No hole. Kinda sweet. And fluffy.

Really good bread, pastries, donuts, coffee. Excellent facility with bread, coffee, donuts and pastries downstairs. Real sandwich choices upstairs. An elevator. Super clean restroom. Lovely place inside. They are taking Covid precautions seriously. They sell out of their products so get there early. A parking lot right across the street. A few on street spots close to the door. Friendly staff. Best of luck to this place because they are doing a great job. read more

Had lunch today, the menu upstairs was disappointing. I had the fish tacos and the fish was so crunchy and overcooked, there was no white soft fish. Service was good, the place was cool, they need to revamp their menu before I try again. Stopped in at 2 on a Saturday very few donuts available and the same for bread. Will try again sometime earlier in the day.

Was excited for the opening of this new place, then was very disappointed by the quality. I purchased the chocolate cake with sprinkles dumped in a container. It looked so yummy but after opening it I could tell the frosting was all oil based and it tasted overly sweet and oily. Selection was very limited but that might be because it was newly opened. Will have to give it a second chance to see if it gets better. read more

This place has a beautiful facility, but the worst food ever. I ordered a chicken salad sandwich on white. It arrived and was the driest, most stale bread I have ever had anywhere. To make that just a bit worse, the chicken salad was made from canned with only raw onions and mayo added. Oh and it was the smallest, thinnest spread of the chick salad so I had about 10x more bread than the contents needed. It arrived on a plate with NOTHING else - no pickle no chips no lettuce or tomato. My hubs winter filled cheese was slightly better since it was grilled but still served with NOTHING and it arrived 10 minutes after mine came out when there was only 1 other table that ordered food (the few others were only having coffee/donuts). This place really needs to rethink the whole concept - what kind of bread place serves stale bread?!?!? AVOID - doesn't even deserve one star! read more
