Chocolate Babka + cheesecake bread pastry
Ifechi I.

Came here off a friend's recommendation and the baked goods did not disappoint! My friend and I split the Chocolate Babka (of course) as well as a cheesecake-flavored-sweet-kolache-type pastry since they were doing cheesecake specials that month. Both were really solid! Not gonna lie, the babka looked dryyy. But, lo and behold, it was not! The crumb was tender, and there was a lot of chocolate flavor. One thing that would have made it shine is toasting it. I know it's a tiny booth pop-up, but there's gotta be room for a little toaster oven I'd hope. Even so, it was good cold. The cheesecake-flavored-sweet-kolache-type pastry was really yummy! Not too sweet, a little bit savory, really nice soft but still sturdy texture. I'd definitely recommend trying it if they still have it, and any special they have for that matter. All of their stuff looks great!

Haven't been to this location before, but Breads is a classic. I always love the Chocolate Babka and stopped in to pick up the new Earl Grey bread to take home. Staff was welcoming, location was clean and bright with some small tables and counter seating. Grabbed a quick bite of a pretzel, quiche, and breadstick to tide me over before heading out. The quiche had great flavor and the staff warmed it up for me which made it way better, definitely eat it warm!

I LOVE this place. I could go every single day. Fantastic pastries, and also salads and amazing "deli" choices - hummus, egg salad, Israeli salad.... So good.

Excellent service, the egg salad sandwich only came on a poppy seed bun but was soft and tasty. The almond croissant has a nice soft paste center and flaky outside. The pretzel was very good, almost whole wheat, with a soft bread center.

I love this little Breads Bakery booth right in Bryant Park. I ordered an iced coffee and a slice of chocolate babka, then sat back to enjoy them while people-watching. The iced coffee was smooth and delicious--no bitter aftertaste at all. The chocolate babka was rich and perfectly paired with the coffee. A simple, satisfying treat in a great spot!

The location is on the corner of Bryant Park and it is a little kiosk/stand store so not much ambience to comment on but even though it is tiny, service is efficient and fast. I got some plain croissants and they were oh so buttery, crispy and flaky! Perfect to eat while sitting in the park. This little kiosk store may not have as much selections as a bigger Breads Bakery store, though they do have all the yummy basics and most loved items!

The chocolate babka was decadent and overly sweet. But overall, decent! Breads bakery's pastries were great like the cinnamon roll pin wheel, plain croissant and a chocolate croissant.

Some consider theirs the best babka in NYC. They aren't wrong. The last babkas I got from a couple of well known spots have been somewhat dry. Breads' is moist and rich. More of a line and less selection of baked goods than other locations because this is a kiosk at Bryant Park, but I didn't wait too long. They even had a seasonal apple babka for Rosh Hashanah and I was able to get both chocolate and apple without issue

Gunjan ..

World's BEST CHOCOLATE BABKA! This babka strikes the ideal balance: it's moist, fluffy, and oozing with chocolate goodness. The friendly staff is a cherry on top. This dessert easily tops my city favorites list. When I don't want to commit to a full Babka, I opt for the Rugelach. It's not an exact match but hits the right spot for those cravings.

Breads Bakery Bryant Park Kiosk is the least favorite of my Breads locations. I always see a line. I was in Bryant Park recently with friends and remembered I hadn't been here since the holidays. When I'm here during the holidays I just grab a coffee and sit on a bench enjoying the park. If you enjoy their baked goods, or you are a tourist and want to try them out, this is a good place. I prefer to sit to eat at the full size neighborhood locations uptown.

Coffee was so so but the pain au chocolat was delicious - fresh and tasty. It's a kiosk in Bryant Square so easy in and out.

This is in a ritzy part of town on 60th St between Madison Ave & Park Ave with Ferraris & Bentleys parked on the street, so you have to guess that the storefront rent must be astronomical. But oh, these gastronomical sandwiches are off the charts and can justify the price. Once you decipher the names of the sandwiches on the menu and see what's between the bread, you will want to try all of them. I settled on 2 finalists, but decided get both anyway. All sandwiches are made fresh with some of the best looking meats & ingredients I've ever seen! The L'Inferno brought images of Danté Alighieri's version of the Underworld to mind, but was a spicy hot masterpiece of sandwich art. The combination of thinly sliced roasted porchetta, nduja, spicy eggplant & arugula was fantastic! The fresh in-house baked focaccia took it even further. But I did learn something new today besides Italian pronunciation, which was that nduja (silent n) is a spicy sausage from Calabrese that's spreadable like butter. I gotta get me some of that stuff! The La Paradiso sounds like the third installment of Danté's Divine Comedy trilogy, but is a very mild, but tasty sandwich with mortadella, stracciatella & crushed pistachios in pistachio cream. The pistachio cream is a stroke of culinary genius and gives the sandwich an amazingly smooth texture & taste. The only part of Danté's Divine Comedy missing from their menu is La Purgatorio and I do not want to find out what would go into that sandwich!

I got the La Paradiso which comes with Mortadella, stracciatella, pistachio cream, pistachio. The bread was fantastic. But it turned out to be a fantastic meal and fully satisfied my endless craving for well-made soup dumplings. The scallion pancakes were excellent, too, crispy without being greasy and packed with scallions. I had seen a lot of reviews praising the General Tso's chicken, but I've honestly avoided the Chinese-American dish for years. Too often it's overly sweet with a heavy batter. Still, after seeing plate after plate come out to nearby tables, I decided to give it a try. What a surprise. It was a huge portion of fresh white meat chicken with a light coating and a perfectly balanced sauce, served piping hot. We couldn't finish it (knowing we had a big dinner later), but I kept going back for "just one more piece" more times than I'd like to admit. Reservations aren't accepted for parties of two, but in the late afternoon it wasn't busy at all, we walked right in with no wait. Would absolutely come back.

I have three big guys with me and sometimes quick lunches need to be more filling than fast food options, so we chose Alidoro's under Rockefeller Plaza. We could walk to it form the hotel and it was in the middle off all we wanted to show the boys on their first day (first time) in the city. We all chose different sandwiches and they were ready pretty fast. Since the shop itself is not huge, we landed a small space at the window bar with two stools and some standing room. After being in a car and on a flight and in another car all morning, we weren't mad about the standing part. We were all able to share and sample each sandwich, and honestly, we were not disappointed. We were all full and happy when we weren't finished, so what more could we want for a relatively quick NYC meal? Being under the plaza, the restrooms were outside the shop but very close by so we were able to wash hands and such before journeying out into the wild. I would definitely stop back by again on another trip! The guys and I all gave Alidoro's two thumbs up - so 8 thumbs total, if you're counting.
