Nice portions & quality ingredients made this a welcomed surprise on my visit to Poplar Bluff.

This is a great place to go, the food there isn't bad but I do wish the broccoli cheese soup wasn't so watery... it tastes great but the consistency is much like cheesy milk with some bits of broccoli and a few shreds of carrots... also the sour dough bread that is supposed to be the bowl is WAY to soft of a consistency.. it needs to be far more tough to withstand the soup that it is supposed to god inside.. instead, since the bread is far too soft, it leaks through right away.. also some of the cakes' frosting is very much too sugary to enjoy. With that all said, the staff is very friendly and accommodating and just their hospitality alone makes me want to return..but not so much the food. read more

Wanted to get a good salad, guess I choose the wrong place. Spent $8 for a salad that was supposed to have chicken in it. Went thru the drive-thru. Got home and had no chicken with my salad. I called them and their response was, they could give me $1 off my next purchase. Really?! I spent $8 for a salad that had nothing in it!!! She then said I could drive back in town to get the chicken. Supposedly this chicken that they put on this salad cost them $5, so I said I'd drive back in town for my $5 worth of chicken. When I went back thru the drive-thru the girl literally threw the small container at me. Very, very rude!! I doubt there was an ounce of chicken in that container. It's okay if you're looking to splurge on something not worth splurging on. $11 for a salad with no meat on it. $2 for 2 rolls aren't warm or fresh. Why is it called bread and butter again? read more

My fiance and I figured we would try this place yesterday as it is local and wanted something that wasn't a chain restaurant. It appeared that they were understaffed as the two servers were the only ones in the dining area aside from the manager doing table check ins. Our orders were a bit slow coming out, but the back of house may have the same staffing issue. I ordered the garlic pesto steak with broccoli and mashed potatoes as sides. My fiance ordered from the mix and match options. She later remarked as we were leaving that she'd have preferred to go to McAllister's, knew it would have been better, and gotten a pickle. The food was ok but not good enough that'd I'd be curious to see how well they do with their other dishes offered. Maybe if they cut the offerings on the menu back and hired more staff it'd be better. As far as COVID 19 safety goes I don't recall any staff wearing masks just to put that out there. Overall, I'd give them a try and see if your miles vary from my experience. read more

'Eh. Not bad not great. We came for breakfast and the waitstaff we're very kind to take our order at our table probably because they weren't busy and I walk with a cane. Otherwise, you order at the counter. My husband and I each had the big breakfast which was fine. Better than average but not wow. I'm bringing my rating down to 2 stars because 1, our orange juice was served in the plastic container it came in and water was in a styrofoam cup, 2, jelly was in squeeze packets and the salt & pepper were in tiny paper packets and3, the music was unbearable Maybe a mash up of Justin Bieber meets Taylor Swift or some poor dishwasher chained to the sink? Yeah, it's sometimes the small stuff. But, it's the small stuff that brings me back. Again, staff were very good & with a little tweaking.... read more

I'm from Texas, in town visiting my parents, and this is one of the best places I've been the whole trip. It's simple, they have sandwiches and wraps and such and quite a few desserts. It was tasty and the people were friendly, especially the owner, and the place is really nice and clean, decorated cute. I hope to be back next time I'm in town. read more

I love this place! The staff is ridiculously friendly. The pastries and desserts are the best in town. They make all their specialty drinks in decaf as well, which is major for this caffeine intolerant lady. Get the berry nutty salad, chicken salad, and Baja chicken soup! That's the best! read more

The reuben sandwich was pretty good but I didn't care for the pasta salad. My wife had the chicken salad sandwich and pablano pepper soup, she loved it. We are planning to go back tomorrow morning for breakfast. read more

To start on the one and only positive note I have here... my kids liked their mac n cheese and their grilled cheese, however this was absolutely the worst experience I have ever had with a restaurant. My husband and I took our three children for dinner, it was my daughter's birthday and she LOVES chicken and dumplings (Bread + Butter is the only place I know in town that serves chicken and dumplings). We waited about 15 minutes and the food for our other two children came out, but they informed us then at that point that they were out of chicken and dumplings. I don't understand why they didn't tell us right up front that they were out of the dish we were there for, and we completely would have understood if they would have told us BEFORE they brought our other children's plates out. I completely 100% understand running out of a dish, but to wait until they have already brought some of the food out is absurd (so we can't just leave then-I feel it was intentional). We decided that we would go ahead and eat what we ordered, and take our daughter somewhere else for her birthday dinner right after. (Any other normal day, we would have forced her to choose something else from the menu) We waited 15 more minutes and my husband and my food still hadn't arrived. At that point, our kids were finished eating, so I asked them if our food was almost done and if they would put them in a to-go box. I waited another 10 minutes, and asked our waitress that if our food wasn't done, to just cancel the order and I would pay for the two kids' food that did show up. My husband and our birthday girl ended up leaving while I was waiting for our to-go boxes because she was really getting hungry at this point. I waited 55 minutes AFTER our children were finished eating, and AFTER asking our waitress twice if the food was almost done (I was promised both times that the food was super close to being finished. Obviously not.) After waiting a total of 55 minutes AFTER two of my children were finished eating, I went to the counter and asked them to cancel our dinner and I just wanted to pay for our two children's plates. I did NOT ask for the manager, I just wanted to get home so I could get something to eat for dinner. The manager, Matt, come out and immediately had a horrible attitude. He asked me what the problem was, and I quietly told him that I had never had an experience this bad here, but it was crazy and I was ready to go. He told me that he fed my kids first, and that it "takes longer to box food up since I requested to-go boxes". He was extremely hateful to me, so I asked him if he speaks to all of his paying customers this way and his response was "You are not a paying customer, I am the one paying for your food." I told him to please just let me pay for my kids meals, and he kept on mouthing me. I asked him again to just let me pay for my kids' meals, so I can leave. He threw a piece of paper in the trash like a mad teenager would do, and canceled my order. I told him that I would never be back to his establishment and I would be sure that everyone I know is made aware of this situation. I am positive I was overcharged for my children's dinners (yes, Matt, I did know that...I just wanted to get out of your business at this point- There was no sense in arguing anymore.) I truly hope the few people who were in the restaurant overheard the way he was talking to me and the way he handled this horrible situation. It could have easily been turned into a positive experience, but with horrible management like this- no wonder there are so many bad reviews on this restaurant. Don't waste your time or money here...I sure won't make that same mistake again. read more

Our family got together to celebrate my husband and mother in law's birthday dinners and it was chaos. I had called weeks ahead of time to reserve a table for 10-15 people at 1pm. The manager informed me they do not take reservations. I explained considering it was a large party I wanted to make sure there would be enough seating. He agreed and said he would make a note and have us taken care of. Obviously, he did not. We arrived at 12:45 and our family was standing in a corner waiting because no one would acknowledge them. They said they had no idea we were coming. So we didn't make a fuss we just continued waiting until they could put some tables together for us since we were all there already. We didn't get any menus for 20 minutes- my father in law (after asking) finally took some off another table that was empty. We didn't get silverware- had to ask repeatedly. And we had a server but I'm not sure what her job description is because we had to get our own refills as well. Not to mention our food orders were wrong. One thing is reasonable. Two things- understandable. But this was almost every detail. It made me look awful for arranging a dinner there for everyone. AFTER THIS SERVICE- the manager on proceeded to argue with my husband that we weren't allowed to eat the birthday cake we had brought with us because they offered it there from professionals. Uhmm, I'm here to add a previous note- I've eaten a cake from b+b before and it was absolutely disgusting. So, thank you but no thank you. We didn't know they had that rule. Most restaurants don't do why would we assume that. We tolerated their awful service, ate our cake anyway and left. And no we won't be going back unless we hear the service has changed dramatically. read more

Great atmosphere, was excited to try it but one of the staff wasn't pleasant, the $6+ frappe was terrible, and making it took about 15min.

Right after they first opened, I went on a date here. I was expecting it to be restaurant style, a waiter comes and takes your order, instead you order at a counter and they bring it to you. I was looking for a nice sit down which is what is appears to be from the outside. I had potato soup, it tasted off. I love potato soup but this was just really runny the cheese thickened it a little but not in a good way. My boyfriend had a killer sandwich I was so jealous. I gave them a decent review because my boyfriend loved it and his sandwich looked good. I gave them another try later on, not the food but the coffee. I had a thin mint latte or something like that, it was worth the 5$. But they have the hands down best soda machine. I don't know if there CO2 is calibrated different but they have the best tasting soda. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a homey cozy casual place to eat. read more
