My boyfriend and I ate here on a whim last week! It's the only Mexican restaurant surrounded by Vietnamese spots to eat so we were curious how the food would be. For coming in on a slow Wednesday afternoon, we didn't expect much, but we're pleasantly surprised! The free chips came with two different types of salsa, red and green! Both great. I ordered a plate of Barbacoa that came with rice, beans and some fixins while my partner got a similar order. The portions are huge! We could have easily shared one. Good bang for your buck! Absolutely a scam!! My family join us at this restaurant for the BUFFET not a sit down full service typical restaurant dining. Our waitresses came by twice, once to take our drink order and another to drop them off. Other than that nothing else was serviced to our group. 45min later a waitress drops by to ask us how we would be paying and how many tickets. We explained various times to her as she seemed highly confused. To our surprise we were ALL charged an 18% gratuity. The manager "Nancy" Tell me " You have been here several times you should know we charge a 18% gratuity " Excuse Me!! Most of my family was from out of town and stepped in to inform her that was not the case. And that little to none service was provided and we are paying an $80.00 tip collectively. We never complained about the dirty tables, sticky floors, rotten fruit, dry rice or a suspicious thing in the menudo. All in all this restaurant has gone down hill quickly. When I go to a restaurant I want to feel like I am in someone else's home. Or at the very least I would want to feel like I am in a restaurant. I do not want to feel as though I am in a school cafeteria. I think from this point on I am not going to go to any restaurant that serves good food on cheap plates and cheap silverware. I ordered the Bravos and it was outstanding I could not imagine getting a better combination than the Bravos. The food was fresh and tasted so good. Just the food alone I would give this restaurant a four and a half Stars. For the same price or even better you can go to Casa Ole and get served on better dinnerware and silverware. Other than that I really enjoyed my time there and if they do upgrade the plates I will definitely go back. The salsa tasted good but it was warm and thin. I had the worst experience ever yesterday at this restaurant. Do not go if you are any skin color that is not Mexican. They favor their own. It took 20 min for them to refill my mother's and I water while I watched them take care of everyone else constantly. The food is good but I watched everyone else get their food and about 30 min later I got my first plate. I ordered a meal that come out on 2 plates they brought the first one out and I finished that in like 5 minutes and by time I got my waitress attention my 2nd plate came out ice cold. Then they proceed to help everyone else it took an hour a 30min total for us to get our food, Togo boxes, and check.
