Our food fell on it's face. We went based on a personal recommendation and backed by YELP reviews. This was my first big disappointment on YELP. We ordered bruschetta and meatballs for apps. Bruschetta was a bit too charred but ok. Meatballs arrived.... Gray balls sitting on ricotta and oil with an herb and shallot crumble. Meatballs were meh and topping was bitter like burnt garlic and onion. Table bread, delicious. Beverages, delicious. Entrees we were split 50/50. Eggplant parm was very tasty and red sauce tasted fresh and well seasoned. My chicken marsala with creamy polenta was very disappointing. Instead of marsala forward it tasted of mushroom gravy, chicken dry with hard edges and polenta you could cut and chase chunks around the plate. Not a bit like polenta should be. Dessert was warm ricotta cake with gelato. Gelato was essential to this dessert as the lemon sauce was so intensely tart and sour it was near inedible without some buffering by the gelato. Value wise it would have been a fairly pricey meal by our standards even if the food was good. However price point is more palatable when the food is.

She was friendly and professional from the moment we arrived until we left, making us feel truly appreciated as guests. We shared our favorite cocktail, the Lavender Lemon Drop, which was once again fresh, refreshing, and absolutely delicious. For our appetizer, we ordered the Filet Mignon Meatballs. My husband enjoyed the Chicken Parm served with linguine, and I had the Shrimp Parm with linguine. Every dish was flavorful, well-prepared, and thoroughly enjoyable. Unfortunately, the service from our server this time was not as attentive as it was during our visit two months ago with a different server. While the hostess provided outstanding, and courteous service, the same could not be said of our server. The difference in the level of hospitality was noticeable and somewhat disappointing. Overall, we still enjoyed another delicious meal.

The restaurant ambiance is a traditional nice dark wood and brass trim environment. We decided to order their grilled Halibut special over potato gnocchi. Very Delicious. As for their service, that was the weak point of the meal. Our server was not very friendly and customer driven. When we noticed other tables being taken care of more professionally, an example was when we asked for some EVOO for our bread and the server brings us an oil/vinegar rack used for salads. Other tables were given their special EVOO garlic upgrade. Overall the food was prepared perfectly by their kitchen culinary staff. Thank you. They do need to work with this one server because she was not their shining star.

It's a nice looking place and the atmosphere was good…read more The food was sad. I ordered a Chicken Parmigiana. My grandson ordered chicken fingers and fries. My dish was chicken parmigiana covered in red sauce with cheese, a decent amount of cheese (no complaint about that) His dish was breaded chicken breast and french fries. When I tried cutting into my chicken, it was tough! They only gave me a butter knife to cut the Chicken Parmigiana but chicken breast is supposed to be tender. I'm sawing away at something rough tough, like using the butter knife to cut a piece of leather or a hunk of tree bark. I kept looking over at his breaded chicken breasts---hmmm? I scraped off the red sauce and I had the same breaded chicken breasts that he had---mine looked like they were precooked (we had arrived just at noon) . The server mentioned we could order anything off the breakfast, lunch or dinner menu. Having worked in kitchens many times in my life, my take is they had a bunch of precooked breasts from the day before in the walk-in unit, slapped one down reheated it, ladled the sauce, melted the cheese. Additionally--the salad that came with my meal--it was likely laid on the plate before the chicken--the chicken, sauce was simply plopped over 1/3 of the salad. My wife's pizza looked "ok". This is an attractive place, ambiance good, very polite attentive server--- but the food is just an inch above the old local sub shop and pizza places inhabiting Massachusetts and Upstate New York---

Went to Gianni Fig's for the first time on 4/10/2026 in our continued search for new Italian…read morerestaurants. The restaurant resides in an older, well kept building in the small downtown area of the rural Town of South Deerfield. The interior of the restaurant is small, but welcoming, with an L-shaped bar for approximately (12) persons which accommodates food service, and table seating for approximately 50-60. We arrived at 5:30pm on a Friday, and by 6pm it was full; reservations are highly recommended. With regards to the food, everything was absolutely amazing! We started with the Fried Calamari (appetizer), which is my 'go to' as I both love it, and feel it is a perfect test of a kitchen's abilities, as it is a simple appetizer, but can be easily cooked poorly; this calamari was perfectly cooked (not chewy), and both lightly battered and flavored for a momentus start to our food experience. We also started with the Roasted Mushrooms (appetizer), and while I did not sample, the other members of my party thoroughly enjoyed. For the main course, I ordered the Chicken Cordon Blue (house specialty), which incorporated prosciutto and a unique creamy parmigiano sage rose sauce. The execution of the chicken preparation along with the sauce showcased the talent in the kitchen, reminding me that Gianni Figs is a chef owned restaurant. The other members of the table enjoyed Pasta Carbonara (traditional pasta), Grill to Table Scallops and Chicken Cacciatori (ribeye, chicken, & veal), all which I was informed were amazing! One minor critique as I pretend to be a legitimate food reviewer, is a consideration for the interior ambiance of the right side of the restaurant. If the right side were to more closely resemble the left side, with the addition of some wood, decor and softer lighting, it would create a warmer atmosphere for patrons. Additionally, a door or some type of partition to the kitchen entrance would also elevate the setting for those sitting adjacent to. Lastly, while I understand things will never go back to pre-2020, and the world is an altered place, with altered standards, I will note that multiple tables included patrons wearing ball caps and hooded/printed weatshirts while eating. Considering Gianni Figs food to be higher-dining quality, the dress code did not align and affects the ambiance. Food Rating: 4.5/5 Ambiance Rating: 3.75/5 Overall Rating: 4.125/5

Warm beautiful dining room with a wood burning fireplace, with a fire going, on a chilly night. Ann, our server was perfect.
