These gentlemen were nothing but professional and compassionate. I have been there 4 times for…read moreservice with a VERY old car in the past 2 months and they were honest and caring. I have never met better mechanics and men who take pride in their jobs and care about their customers like these guys! Excellent Service, Excellent Work, Excellent Customer Service Highly recommend

Bait and switch state and emissions test, with overpriced quotes!…read more DO NOT bring your car here for a state inspection and emissions test, just to save $50 compared to bringing your car to a legitimate business. You will feel as dumb as I did after leaving this dump. Tires Etc. in West Chester, PA might as well be a chop shop. There are so many warnings on Google and Yelp about Tires Etc. that I wish I had known about or even thought to read through prior to making an appointment with them over the phone. I've never been scammed by a mechanic before now, so I didn't have my guard up. Besides the wait times to pickup your car, which an absolutely awful experience, please be warned that the staff and advertisements from Tires Etc. state they will only charge you $44.99 for the work, but you have to make sure you read between the lines and connect the dots. Though Tires Etc. pricing is $44 less, they WILL fail your inspection and conveniently slap you with something that needs to be repaired. Here's the thing, I just moved here and my car passed inspection with flying colors 4 weeks ago in VA, which is much tougher on inspections than PA. Not only that, but I had my own personal mechanic replace the brakes last month, prior to the VA inspection, which coincidentally is right next to the controller arms of which Tires Etc. is claiming failed inspection. I even called my mechanic and shared what happened, and he said there is no way my car should have failed, that controller arms may be worn, but they had some time before replacing. He feels that this place was a bait and switch shop, laughed at how much they wanted to charge to replace 2 controller arms, and that I was unlucky and did the right thing by leaving. What should have been a $45 inspection, turned into a scam to try and charge me $500 for parts and $2380 for labor. $2880 total plus tax. I only asked Tires Etc. how much the controller arm replacement would cost while I was there, because they made me feel trapped by telling me if I left I'd have to pay for the inspection all over again. Bait and switch 101, but they already know that eventually someone will say yes and they'll cash in on their pray. And so, I paid their $45 fee, $47 with tax, and got the hell out of there quickly. Interestingly enough, I called Meineke to see if I was overreacting, but I was right, because they replace 2 controller arms for less than half the quote that Tires Etc. provided. Half the cost! I advise you stay away, but if you're unfortunate enough to fall in their trap, make a bee line to a legitimate business or chain that does inspections, just like I did. My car passed the same day at a legit mechanic shop, and all I needed was new windshield wipers. They too confirmed they'd had customers many times that fell for the Tires Etc state inspection and emissions test fail scam. They'll probably draft a response to this review and say whatever they need to in order to sound legitimate and attract new victims, but other than pointing out I had moved here recently, and past an inspection in another state, I didn't say much else while I was there, mainly because I was worried if I didn't fix my car with them that day after they conveniently failed my car inspection, they were going to damage my car before getting it off the lift, so I kept very quiet. Again, you've been warned.

I first heard of Tommy's when my father purchased a Hurricane Sandy flood car (2009 Mercedes…read moreML350). It did not run when purchased as all the complex computer systems had been fried. The whole car essentially needed to be rewired and all the computers had to be replaced. Tommy's was not only able to source the correct parts, but within two weeks had the entire car rewired (which is no small task). They were even able to repair the automated rear liftgate with no trouble. This type of work demands a tech who is patient, organized, well trained, clean, and determined. Judging by the excellent state of the vehicle today I wouldn't hesitate to assume that this shop has all those qualities in spades. Their pricing on this was very fair and under what I expected it would cost. On sunday my 2001 Saab 9-3's motor failed on the highway. I am good shade tree mechanic but have no formal training so I needed a shop familiar with higher end imports to give me a final diagnosis on what had failed. I had it towed there sunday evening and they called me by lunch the next day. I had asked them to perform the diagnosis expecting to pay their fee. It turns out they didn't even need to go into the motor and were able to figure out it was a total loss quickly. Instead of what most shops in the area do (charge you for just looking at the vehicle and outright ripping off customers) they were honest and did not charge me a dime! This is the true test of one's character, to be honest when they could have profited from a lie, and has solidified my belief that this garage is one of the rare good ones in this county. Thanks Tommy's! I'll spread the word of your great service!
