I have no idea what has happened to Brand Optometry, but after 20 plus years as a client, I can declare that this business is not what it used to be and I am no longer happy or satisfied with their service. First off, a couple of months ago, I called to check prices on lenses for frames that I already had (I purchased those frames from Brand Optometry years ago). During my inquiry, when three different prices were presented, I asked about a coating and stated that Costco provides that same coating for much less, the girl on the other end of the phone immediately copped an attitude and stated, "Go to Costco then, our quality is better!" Her level of rudeness caught me off guard and she wouldn't let her attitude go. Come to find out that the $70.00 in savings at Costco was the exact same quality after I paid them more than I should have. Today, I called to ask if they are able to put a lens back in a frame after one of my lenses for my sunglasses came out. They said, "Sure, come by." So I made the trek from Ventura County to Glendale. Upon my arrival, I was met with a, "Those screws in those frames are beyond damaged. We cannot fix that and you need to buy an entire new pair of sunglasses." I politely asked if they had a couple of screws the size I needed so that I could try at home. The "technician" said, "I'll give you five, ten screws. It doesn't mean you'll be able to fix it." When I got home, I pulled out my smallest Milwaukee screwdriver and WAS easily able to take out the screw, only to find out that the screws he gave me were the wrong size. Then, using a $2 glasses repair kit and my Milwaukee screw driver, I was able to unscrew the "so-called damaged" screw and replace it with a screw the correct size from my cheap kit. I could have saved two hours of driving and a bunch of gas if I simply tried repairing the frame myself; and I've never worked for an optometrist a day in my life yet I was able to solve an issue the "professional" wasn't. If it weren't for Dr. Black whom I respect, I would leave this god forsaken business entirely. read more

Came in for an eye exam, and some new glasses. Got temp checked, had a seat, first time here so I filled out paperwork, and in a jiffy I was getting my eyes checked. Dr J was very detailed in his explanations of my Lens options, Being very particular about my vision health I'm glad I came here. I went out to the showroom, tried on various pairs of frames , choose some beautiful, Tom Ford, frames. They have an extensive selection of frames, they offer some very upscale frames for the big spenders, but there is something for everyone. I will return.... I went in as a first time patient with a severe redness in my eye. I was told that it was an allergic reaction to something in the air and was prescribed eye drops. The redness went away but returned 2 weeks later. I went to see my regular eye doctor about it and he informed me that I actually had a bacterial infection in my eye and the drops that were prescribed to me were only to soothe the redness and not treat the infection. I was walking around with an eye infection for 3 weeks because this office didn't recognize it when I came in. I stars are for the receptionists who were really helpful and accommodated me on the same day I made the call to schedule an appointment. Update to response: not really going to come back when you couldn't recognize it was an infection the first time but thanks. read more

Dr. Hornstein took the time to exam my eyes 2x and realized the lenses were measured incorrectly at the other optometry office. I was fortunate enough to receive the most stylish and unique pair of glasses I have ever owned at this location. All thanks to the lovely optician they had on staff, Ivon. For those of you still evaluating what pair of glasses you're ultimately going to select - I highly, highly recommend seeing Ivon. Not only was her demeanor pleasant, but she also had the taste and experience to select glasses that I would have never even thought to try on my own... and I'm so thankful for it! Been going to this Dr. for over ten years. They've helped our family with all of our vision needs and prescription frames for a very long time and customer service is second to none. My daughter once broke her glasses early in the morning and they were able fill a frame with her prescription and have someone from the office hand deliver a new pair same day. Not a good experience!!! My older glasses from 7 years ago are better than the new one Brand Optometry made for me. I wanted a pair of progressive sunglasses. Nothing wrong with my older progressive sunglasses; just wanted a new style. I specifically asked the optician who took my instructions to order a premium (wider field of view in the distance & reading viewing). After a month of wait (Holidays getting in the way), the new glasses had very narrow viewing area, and, had 2/3 dedicated to reading rather than distance. Another two weeks to have it re-done, and the replacement lenses were a little better, but still not the wide view I wanted, and, the reading view zone is narrowed to a small area that makes me move my face position to get the focus area right. I am very disappointed for wasting time and money with these glasses. Not a good experience!!!!! read more

I have now purchased two frames at this location. I would highly recommend Brand Optometry! I dealt with Meri both times and she is amazing! She was patient with me as I tried on a TON of different frames. She asked what I was looking for and picked out various frames she thought would work and voila one of them did. She gave me input on the color, size, and shape of the frames and was taking her time with me. The prices are competitive as well. They have many different brands ranging from Ray Ban to Tom Ford to Gucci and numerous others. When going to purchase frames next, I will definitely be returning to this location.
