Updated Review: Absolutely Do NOT Trust This Brakes Plus I'm updating my original review because things somehow got even worse. After Brakes Plus charged me $1,200 to "fix" a leak, my car was still leaking. I took it to a different mechanic for a second opinion, and he had to re-run every diagnostic just to figure out what Brakes Plus failed to repair. Guess what he found? The leak was coming from the exact area Brakes Plus supposedly fixed. Their repair wasn't just sloppy--it was flat-out wrong. The second mechanic had to repair their mistake, and I ended up paying another $800 to fix Brakes Plus' screw-up. To make matters worse, when I brought this to the manager's attention, he told me, "Send me the invoice and I'll see what we can do about reimbursement." Well, it's been almost two weeks and I've heard absolutely nothing. No update. No follow-up. No reimbursement. Just silence. And let's talk about what Brakes Plus tried to do when I brought my still-leaking car back to them: They attempted to charge me almost $4,000 for a "new leak" that didn't even exist. The second mechanic confirmed that what they wanted to charge me for was not the issue at all--the real problem was their original, poorly done $1,200 repair. Do NOT go to this place. If you're someone -- especially a woman with limited car knowledge -- they will take advantage of you. I was charged $1,200 for a repair that did not fix the issue at all. My car continued to have the exact same problem, so I brought it back. Instead of acknowledging their mistake, they claimed it was a "new issue" and quoted me $4,000 more. My dad called to get clarification, and they admitted they thought they fixed the problem, but it "turned out to be something else." So essentially, I paid $1,200 for nothing, and now they're trying to charge thousands more to fix what should have been diagnosed correctly the first time. I tried to reach out before I wrote a review to let management know of my experience. No one bothered to give me a call. I had an appointment Saturday November 23rd at 10:00 for an oil change. I stated when I booked this appointment that I would be waiting for my car. I arrived a bit late at about 10:05 and there was a line out the door. 2 people helping the customers in front of me, moving at a snails pace. They didn't seem to have any concern about the line or the folks waiting. When I finally reached the counter at about 10:20, I asked if the wait for my car would be longer than usual,as I heard them tell the woman in front of me that this was the case. The guy said, "no, I think you'll be okay." I reiterated that I would reschedule if it was going to take a long time as I had a very busy Saturday. (Right before Thanksgiving) He again said "no, you'll be fine." At about 11:30, I finally saw my car come down from the lift. I waited about 15 more minutes before saying something to the 2 men in the office looking at their cellphones. The one that originally helped me slowly got up and went to check on my car. When he came back, he had my keys and let me know that the person working on my car said it took so long because "he felt like crap." This did absolutely nothing to make me feel any better! Also, this tech left a huge greasy hand print on the hood of my car. If I had not asked about my car, who knows how long I would have been waiting. Not to mention that the bathroom in the waiting area is about as gross as I have ever seen in a public place! The floor was black with grime sticking to the urine stains and the sink didn't look like it had been cleaned for a decade. I couldn't even bring myself to use these facilities. I will say that the guy "helping " me gave me a small discount for my inconvenience. Honestly that did not help much as you can't really put a dollar amount on a persons time. Well this is simply disgusting. I brought my own oil and filterer because Brakes plus on 92nd in westerner said they would do it. When they finished the receipt said the wont honor workmanship or equipment on product brought in. So they don't honor tier work and told me AFTER they did the damn work. They overfilled the oil, I am not sure how because I brought the exact right amount. This caused issue on a 2022 2500 RAM Diesel Messing up the DPF system. Thank Breaks Plus. Unbelievable brazen dishonesty. Write-up for the car matches the tone and urgency of the service consultant/manager after using Brakes Plus for their free brakes inspections - offered at the end of 2023. Stated that I had metal on metal grinding, and that the brake pads were less than 1mm. The brakes actually may need to be replaced and are inside of the recommended spec (I believe 4mm and less). All 8 pads measured more than 3.5mm however. Took to another shop who stated we were fine for now. That shop had replaced the pads, calipers and rotors less than 2 years ago. With two different stories, I decided to call a friend in the business and take a look myself. The cynic in me says that these guys are snakes, looking to create panic and force a sale/service. Try as I may... i can't come up with a good reason to tell the owner (my wife and I) that the pads are dangerous and less than 1mm and 'metal-on-metal' It's just not true. read more

Horrible experience. They took my car in, called me on the correct number to approve repairs. They never called me back, I worked and didn't have my car for the next day because they were closed. When I finally got ahold of someone they claimed they had called me seven times, they had a completely random number in their system after calling the correct number prior. I was also quoted 2000 for front and rear brakes when I only ask for the rear brake work. Went in to get brakes replaced, as they were squeaking and making noise. I was told my brakes were fine and that I needed a new $1000+ drivetrain. So I made the recommended repair and shocker, the noises never stopped - probably because the drivetrain wasn't actually the issue and I just needed new brakes. Won't be back. read more

After trusting this Brakes Plus with my car for over ten years, I am sincerely disappointed right now. I recently got "brand new" and "good quality" brakes and rotors replaced on the rear end, both sides, about a month or two ago. Today I noticed that the driver rear area is nearly covered in rust, transferring to my wheel and who knows what else this bad quality product has done to my car that I can't see. The passenger rear is progressing in rust as well just not as quickly. I've had my car for 5 years now with the same rotors the whole time until now, and that entire time I had no issues with my rotors rusting like this. I hope Brake's Plus can remedy this so I can update my review, because I paid a good penny, and like I said, I've come here for years and always had good experiences, but this is not okay. read more

Came in about a month ago to get an estimate on some rear axle work, after Just Brakes wanted to charge me $800 to replace a seal and the rear brakes (and that was on top of the warranty discount). Brent and Jessy helped me out immensely in doing the work for half that, and scheduling it for a later time than they usually accept (since I use my truck for work at the same time as they're open). Turned out there was a surprise waiting for me when they were done: something went wacko with the axle on the other side and it started slipping out! I managed to get out of traffic a block away, and Brent had his guys come out and check on it. Now nobody can say for sure whether the problem was caused by the mechanic, but Brent took care of me again and fixed the problem for free just in case it was them, and even reimbursed me for the tow with a discount on my next job (which again was half of what Just Brakes was going to charge). I found myself a great shop in Brakes Plus, and I will definitely be going to them for any work in the future. read more

While they did fix my radiator and thermostat so that my car didn't completely die (after being told by yet another repair guy there was no leak), they also replaced the serpentine belts. They left the AC belt in a state of disrepair. I know jack about cars. I have to take people's word for it. So, when someone leaves something broken in a car that could be fixed and save me a few bucks in labor in the process, something that will wind up costing, say $150+ sometime in the near future, that smells funny to me. I made an appointment online through their website first, then the day of, called just to double check before going in. I made the appointment because my car had squeaky brakes and was kind of grinding when I put the brakes on. After 2 and a half hours of waiting, they had come to tell me that everything was perfectly fine with my brakes and their was still about 80-85% life on them. I really appreciated them telling me that and not saying something else might be wrong or getting me to pay for something else. Often I go into shops and after an inspection they tell me something else would be wrong or needed maintenance on. I have a good basic knowledge of automobiles, so being able to decipher a lie would be fairly easy, but these guys were upfront with the inspection they did. It was also free, which was a huge plus! I know nothing about cars...so when my car broke down (for the first time ever in my 16 years of driving), I didn't know where to go or who to trust...was recommended to these guys, and I'm so glad I was! I called in on Wednesday & talked to Jim to set up an appointment on Friday to get an oil change, alignment & tire rotation. I had another appointment on Friday morning that got over sooner than expected, so I called & they were able to get me in 90 minutes earlier. I waited while the work was done & they completed it in the time frame quoted. Unlike other places I have taken my car for routine maintenance, they did not try to sell me other services or tell me I needed other work done. Somehow, this place escaped my judgment before...maybe just too busy to deal with then. But about Jan 2010 I went in for a "comprehensive" oil change. They took my coupon and later returned with a laundry list of about $550 worth of repairs or fluid/part replacements that should be done; brake pads and the like. Since it was a friend's car I was driving and I know he lets things slide, I took care of all the issues for him except one -- they said I had a loose wheel bearing and to fix all of that it would run about $300 total. I shelved it for another day. A loose wheel bearing sort of sounds like a jet accelerating down the runway before the actual take-off part, a sort of howling noise. This noise was not present before I brought my car here for the $45 "oil change plus" operation. As soon as I drove away from the premises, I heard what they were referring to. And that issue wasn't present before I had them work on my car. So I left with $300-ish worth of damage after they had "serviced" the car. Draw your own logical conclusions...be wary bringing your car to this place and having them return with a laundry list of other things - I would definitely evade them for mechanical work. (I'm getting this issue fixed this weekend in May, finally, from a reputable place that is charging me $95 less on their estimate than these vultures did). Seconding Kat's review. read more

Took our 2005 Grand Cherokee to the nearby Jeep dealer to apply a software recall to the transfer case. While it was there they did a "once over" and told me that we needed rear brakes $150 and would also need new rear rotors (another $150) as the factory rotors could not be machined. I found this odd as these were the factory pads in the rear, and therefore the rotors had never been machined previously. Luckily I decided to hold off on that service. 5k miles later the Jeep needs an oil change. Checked with the Jeep dealer and they can't get me in for three weeks, so I call Brakes Plus. Was able to drop off the Jeep on Wed at 5:30PM and it was done by 9AM on Thurs. Had them inspect the rear brakes, and had told them what the Jeep dealer said. They confirmed that not only were the rotors plenty thick for a future machining, but they also confirmed we had plenty of pads left, and were not in need of new brakes. Couldn't be happier with their honesty and quick work. They even topped off the wiper fluid during the oil change, and confirmed all the tires were at the recommended pressure. read more

I had a terrible experience with them. Won't be back. First, they flat out lied trying to upsell a wheel alignment. They said that my tires were unevenly worn and my steering wheel was off-center. I had just gotten my alignment checked when I got new tires in January, and my steering wheel is perfectly centered. It gets worse, though. Less than two weeks after getting my brakes done, I started on a road trip. I was just past Vail when I noticed a noise coming from one of the wheels. This noise progressed to the point that I barely limped into Glenwood Springs, where I stopped and had it checked. It turned out the wheel was so loose, it could've fallen off had I kept driving on it. My tire is now damaged enough that it grumbles if I go over 30. read more

Went to Brakes Plus to have brakes installed in my Subaru. They told me I was losing coolant and asked me if I wanted them to do pressure test on radiator for $20.00,I told them to go ahead. They came back with recommended services print out to replace water pump, thermostat, radiator hose,and coolant exchange service for total of $938.11. I told them I had those parts replaced about 8,000 miles ago. It happened before at Brakes Plus they recommended service that i recently had. I decided to get a second opinion. I went to Super Rupair in Boulder that has been in business since 1979,and work only on Subaru cars. They performed pressure cooling system test and inspected all hoses,radiator,water pump,and heater core for coolant leaks. The only leak they found was the radiator cap $15.95 part. These people in my opinion are lying thiefs. DON'T TRUST THEM. read more

My time was wasted. My time is money. I did several diagnostics at different locations and they wouldn't accept it costing me more money and more time. I went on the day the manager told me to go and i couldnt get a diagnosis to order parts and get it fixed. Im broke during a time of crisis, no one cares about my waste of money or time. Very irritating. By the way one of the places i got a diagnosis from was recommended by this brake place. I legit have a set time ti get my vehicle fixed. I still have to wait for parts.
