These guys saved me today and had to throw them some Yelp love! I've been here before for my wife's car. They did a great job then and they did a great job today. This place is in our neighborhood and very close to home. It's important to have a reliable auto shop nearby. No frills and no fuss at a place like this. Well I got a flat tire this morning. No fun at all! I felt it immediately while driving and luckily was close to home. I checked my tire and it was deflating fast. Something bigger than a nail was in there...check my photos to see the broken key that deflated my tire in record time! I showed up at the shop knowing there was a chance they wouldn't take it considering the amount of cars I see them working on at any given moment. The gentleman said they don't normally do patchwork but would hate to see me stranded. He said it'd be completed by noon. At 10:41am they called to inform me my car was ready. Talk about efficiency and hospitality! They charged me $25 for the whole operation. It's an easy fix for them and I think the most appropriate pricing for something of this nature. all the great reviews I've read about Wheat Ridge auto and Gary are correct. I brought in our Toyota RAV4 with an oil leak coming from the right front of the car. Other mechanics told me it was a bad CV boot and or axle. Gary saw that the problem was a missing gasket on the oil plug. Definitely will be using this great shop from now on. read more

Gary is completely unprofessional, the place is filthy, he can't pronounce Toyota correctly and he works with a chop shop. My car was impounded from there without Gary following proper protocol and now my van is a complete loss. And the two times he tried to fix it it ran for less than 12 hours after. All he wanted to tell us was to get rid of it and buy a TAYota. Then he had it towed out from under me. read more

Gary and his crew "fixed" my Van by putting a $60 bandaid on it. needless to say it died while exiting the highway. we towed it back to him and he told us it was a dead engine. while trying to figure out how to handle it we cobtactes him a few times to say we would come get our things and figure out who was going to pick it up. 6 weeks later {we communicated a few times} he had it towed. he sent a letter to an old address {a simple Google search would have found our current one}, sold the van on the black market to a Mr. K's towing who then took my plates off, sold the back door and so on. Wheat Ridge Auto Services is the best! I needed an AC system recharge so I started researching shops close to home in the Wheat Ridge area. I looked at five or six shops and Wheat Ridge Auto Services came out head and shoulders above the rest on both Yelp and Google reviews. Yelp had a perfect 5.0 with 22 reviews and Google has a 4.8 with 83 reviews. No other shop came close. They take jobs first come first serve so I showed up at 8AM on Monday morning. I tried to take the bus home while they worked (we only have one car) but routes were restricted because of the protests. The owner - Gary - took compassion on me and bumped my recharge up in the queue and the job was done in less than three hours. The AC recharge cost was reasonably priced at $120. Gary's secret is simply being absolutely honest, fair priced and compassionate. Just make sure you arrive early because his awesome reputation makes him VERY popular! My Subaru started acting crazy on the highway, so I took it straight to the dealership! They charge me $75 and the estimate was $1600. Only to replace the bushings on my lower front control arms. According to them, one bushing was torn through and the other was worn down quite a bit. Our neighbor told us about Gary, so we went and picked it up from the dealership and took it to wheat Ridge auto service. Of course I looked him up on yelp and google, five stars across-the-board! When I got there, I explained my situation, and mentioned his ratings online. He had no idea about Yelp, or stars, or anything online. "I just tell you exactly what it is whether you like it or not, and if you want I'll fix it" I appreciate that! So I left my car, and I got a call about two hours later, Gary is going to replace the entire arm not just the bushing, but The other side is OK, "it's a little worn but if it was my car I'd wait to fix it." Total $400 so even if I did have to replace the other side, I would've gotten two brand new complete arms with bushings and everything for $800! read more

First off... this place is awesome! While the office is rather dirty and almost gross looking because of the big Parrots...trust me when I say, this man is honest and knows what he is doing!!! My timing belt skipped a tooth and the first mechanic (Sundance Automotive) I brought it to, (referred by AutoZone) told me that the car wasn't worth fixing due to its current value. He said I would need a new engine installed and it would cost around $2k and that I should just donate the car to some organization. My former employer from out of state did all the prior work on this vehicle and told me to explain to the mechanic that the car needed a Helli coil (sp?). I brought this up to the mechanic and he about freaked out on me! Told me to fly my old boss out and have HIM try to fix it 'cause that couldn't be done! I told him I would have to think about donating the car or putting in a new engine. Being a single mom and fairly new to the area I was terrified at the thought of not having my car. I asked a fellow coworker if she could recommend a mechanic for me. She told me about Wheat Ridge auto. I called the mechanic and explained the situation. He said he couldn't promise anything, but needed the car brought to him so he could take a look at it. I had the car towed over to his shop and he had the car repaired within two days!!!! Really, REALLY honest, up front shop. Will NEVER try to oversell you or gouge you. If something really needs doing, they will do it at a fair price, but they are also straightforward about "Hey, if this issue doesn't bother you right now, it doesn't bother us!" I can't say enough good things about this business. They are always busy, and that's really the measure of things, IMO. I took my car to the dealership for a small recall problem, and came away with a laundry list of "problems" (oh, but of course, they were happy to offer high-interest financing to me to help pay for all the repairs). I told them, "Thanks, but I have my own mechanic." The dealership told me that both of my radiator hoses needed replacing. I know I had a slow leak in there somewhere so I took it to Gary. Turns out, it was a loose clamp. Three turns of a screwdriver, problem solved. They could have replaced the hoses, that's what I told them probably needed doing, but they would rather save me a little money now, and have a customer for life. Which, they do! read more

The best Auto shop we have ever used! Hands down! A friend told us about him.. they have used him for along time. Gary the owner is the most honest and best mechanic i have ever encountered.. He has done numerous repairs on our Toyota's. And, has never taken advantage of us. I remember one time my break light was coming on.. and my brakes were a little crunchy.. I went in there thinking Aww man, i going to need a break job. *sigh* He comes out of the garage and say's .. You just needed brake fluid in there.. (I felt a little dumb.. haha) He filled it up and told me that later I will need to get new pads.. but they are fine right now.. So i drove away ..really thankful.. My car developed an alternator issue the yesterday. I wanted to find a shop close by that got my Toyota in and taken care of. I found the shop's number on Yelp, called, Gary answered the phone and told me to bring it in and he would take care of it. An hour after dropping it off, Gary calls me and tells me that the alternator was shot. Two hours after that he calls me back again saying that he found the true issue and that the labor would not change, but I needed another part. Someone that is upfront and honest in this world? I came to Wheat Ridge Auto Service to get a second opinion on a brake inspection I had received from another shop in Lakewood. They informed me that, contrary to what the previous shop told me, I didn't need my brake pads and rotors replaced (although my rotors were warped, it's not going to affect my braking performance and is common for Toyotas). The owner Gary called me and was very relatable and told me about the work he's done on his own Toyotas and what he recommended. They didn't even charge me for the inspection. During the cold snap my '96 bronco wouldn't start (for no real reason- it started up fine a few days prior). A friend referred me to Wheat Ridge Auto, so I had it towed there. They were super helpful, even though the truck started up just fine when it got there (of course) and they continued to test it throughout the next day without issue. Notably he tightened up a bolt in the shifter that had been loose for YEARS, and I had been told that it would require replacement parts that would cost quite a bit so I had decided it was not worth it. They tightened up the bolt free of charge and didn't charge me for the look at the vehicle. I had gone into it expect to at least pay for the once over/their time. I will absolutely be taking any of my vehicles there when they have issues in the future. read more

Love them. My family has gone to them since I started driving. I recently went in to get my Jeep checked on because it was stalling. I left it with them and recieved a call later stating that they found the problem. I was low on transmisson fluid they filled it and charged me 15.00. Honestly--I don't know why these positive reviews are not "recommended". It's December of 2013, and I can add almost 2 more years of good service by this shop to my history. Just today, a radiator hose blew up on me in the extremely freezing weather at 6:30 am. I was able to get a tow (AAA, YAY!) and promptly upon opening these folks got my car in, and it was fixed within an hour or so. Fair charges on parts and labor and quality work done. My husband and I have been taking our cars to Gary for about 15 years, and as our kids have come of age they take theirs to him too. He knows his stuff, he's honest and fair! I took my car here because it had failed emissions. This shop was listed as a good one in the Emissions Repairs booklet. My regular service shop wasn't available to look at my car for another week. Gary and his team took my car in the same day I called and had it repaired in about four hours--very fast. Gary even took the vehicle to an emissions testing location to have it retested--it passed! (I did not ask/expect them to do this.) Gary even offered me a loaner vehicle while repairs were being made. (Again, I didn't ask for this, nor expect it. What a great help this was though! [FYI: I don't think this offer is always on the table.] ) The price seemed very fair, if not tilted in my favor. No further work suggestions were made, and it's an old car, so I'm sure they could've found something that "needed" to be repaired, if they were just looking for more money. I'm thinking of switching to this shop for all my future automotive repair needs. I was/am impressed. read more

At 2pm, my F150 threw the serpentine belt on 120th and Sheridan. The tensioner pulley had completely come apart...power steering fluid everywhere. I called Gary because his shop is close to my house. Gary has a tow service that he uses. At 2:40 pm, the truck was hooked to a tow truck and we were headed south...I couldn't believe it. At around 3:15 pm, we pulled into the shop. I figured there was no way they would be able to repair the truck that day, based on my past experiences with other shops. I was prepared to call a cab. Gary was honest...he said he couldn't promise but they would try. At 5 pm, I drove off with a repaired truck and a bill that I was very happy with. These guys are nothing less than honest and awesome. I will go to Gary from now on with both my work truck and my personal vehicle. I've had so many bad experiences in the past. I just requesting a quote for codes that an auto parts store had given to me. He told me to stop by to have my car looked at. He got the check engine light to turn off and showed me the few codes that came up and told me to not to worry about any of them unless my car starts accting up or if my light comes back on. He did this for free, and wasn't trying to find a way to get my car in the shop. They aren't interested in wasting their time or my money. There is a reason several coworkers take their cars there. Very honest and isn't out to make money. I'll be back, hopefully for maintenance and not for repairs. :) read more
