They do more than just brakes, hence the "plus" in the name of the place. My mom had to bring her car in because she ran over an errant truck tire on I-17 bumping the underside of her SUV and she wanted to make sure that nothing got all screwed up because of the bang. It turns out the power steering pump was damaged and was leaking. She had the pump replaced, and while they were at it she had them replace the struts and shocks, and she had something else done too, but I honestly don't remember what. Since she was having multiple services performed, an all day affair, the store manager played shuttle driver, gave my mother and I a ride to her house then picked us back up again to pick up the vehicle when it was ready later that afternoon. Tip is a pretty cool guy. We got great customer service here. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable. I note that they were also honest. I was looking out for my mother, but I didn't have to look too hard to see that they weren't taking her for a ride (except for the shuttle home and back). read more

0 stars! My car was having starter problems. I took my car in to this breaks plus! Furthermore, I just took it in for a diagnostics. To make sure it was the starter and not the alternator. I didn't have any engine lights on. I just wanted to know what was going on with it. Well 20 minutes later, they came back and said "we started the car." "It's the starter." (Without looking further into it.) they ordered me a starter and put the starter in. 3 to 4 hours later they came back to me and said my engine seized up. They told me they took a wrecking bar to try to unlock my engine... They also told me my fly wheel was chewed up because of the starter... I said how is that possible when you guys pulled my car into the bay, and it was just fine.. you guys put a new starter in there, and now it won't start.. weird.. well the Next day my dad came and got it. (They didn't put my old starter back in my car) They just put it on my passenger seat. (very unprofessional if you ask me) When my dad put my old starter back on, he took a wrench and easily turned my motor... My car was never seized up. This mechanic shop LIED! They put the wrong starter in my car and messed up my car. They messed up my fly will! By putting the wrong part in my car! After all that, they ended up charging me for a diagnostics!. (That they never did.) when my dad called them to tell them that they messed up my car. "They said they would buy me a new fly will, but they wouldn't install it for me." the sad part about all this is They knew they messed up. I came here for an alignment. My sales guy at Discount Tire was pretty adamant that I needed one so he gave me a coupon for $10 off at Brakes Plus. I had great service from beginning to end. I think the person who helped me out was named Tip and he was so nice. He told me from the get-go what was going to happen to my car. He told me up front that they didn't have any openings until 10am (I got there at 8am) so I had options to choose from. Got a call about 15 minutes after he told me it was going to be ready but I think that's reasonable. Biggest tip is get an appointment. I tried to get one the night before but couldn't for some reason so I thought going there first thing in the morning would get me in, but I was wrong. I cannot say enough about this place. I brought my car in to get the front and rear brakes done and I had my kids with me. The repairs took a while and the service advisor Dan, brought out paper and crayons for the kids and gave them some snacks. 2 days later I had a brake issue when one of my calipers locked up. It ruined the new parts I had just put on the front. I took it back fearing the worst and then the Service advisor tells me I need 2 new calipers and new rotors and pads. I asked how much it would cost. He said "We should have checked those calipers and noticed they were bad. I'm not charging you anything!" I was prepared to pay for them but he apologised for my hassle and extra trip! Great customer service! You just earned a life long customer! read more

I came in for an alignment on my Subaru. They were very friendly even though I was late by 30 min for my appointment. When I came to get my car I was given very bad news because they couldn't do my car due to suspension issues. The man explained to me everything I need to fix it and also made some adjustments for me until I could fix it so I didn't ruin my new tires. I was very upset and wanted to know the cost. Seeing as though I didn't get the service but they spent the time trying I figured I would be out money, this was after being ripped off by a tire shop in Flagstaff. I was ready to hear some charge but the nice man told me nothing. Explained how much it would be when I fixed it and told me to make an appointment anytime and they could do it. Being a women it's intimidating to do "car" stuff at least for me. I'm divorced and my ex did all that. There are people and company's that can tell you are uneducated on the mechanics that will scam you. This place was not one. I was beyond happy with my service and will be a return customer. read more

They were very friendly and courteous. Having the work done at Brakes Plus saved me hundreds of dollars compared to a dealers quote for the same repair. The service adviser (Johnny) was great. I wish I could give this place a better review, because the people were quite nice, but after my experience I just can't justify it. Started off because my brakes were extremely hard, so took it in, and was told I needed a new power booster. One of the service managers was nice enough to take me home and pick me back up, and $540 later, I was on my way. However, when driving the next day, I noticed a terrible thud sound that my car has never made before. Called Brakes Plus immediately and was told to come in at 9am the next morning. They did not find a cause all that day, and it was not until the NEXT AFTERNOON that they called and said that they had caused an oil leak with their previous work, but they were not sure that that was the cause of the thud, and if it wasn't they didn't know what it was. However they assured me that they would fix the oil leak they caused free of charge. The only caveat was that it would be two more days before the part came in, and they could fix their mistake. Now forward to two days later, and it will not be ready for one more day! For those of you counting, that is FIVE DAYS that I have not had my car, for a mistake that Brakes Plus made!! Not only is this completely unacceptable, but they have also not offered a discount on my service for the inconvenience, or a rental car. Due to this experience I would not recommend this Brakes Plus to anyone. read more

I was recommended to this place by a friend of my family member and although they were nice, I would not recommend this place. They did a diagnostic on my vehicle (which took them all day because this is not their 'specialty' as they said) and the quote they gave me was extremely expensive. Due to the high quote I shopped around. When I called them back to ask for what type of part my vehicle needed, they couldn't find my info and asked me to bring my vehicle back in and do it all over again. My daughter brought her car to this location for an oil change. I had my own car done there with no issue before, but it was not enough to make up for the rotten treatment she received. She was told that the drain threads were galled, and that the pan would need to be replaced. There was no issue with the drain prior to this oil change, and that sort of thing doesn't all of a sudden happen unless you were at fault. They wanted over $400 to replace $75 dollars worth of parts. I am certain that she was treated this way due to being a young woman, but she would not have any of it. Needless to say, I will never take any of my vehicles to this or any Brakes Plus location, and I will be certain to steer others clear of it as well. read more

Just had to get brake service for my car. I have been going to this store for over 8yrs and have never been disappointed with them, even with changes in personnel. Dan, Johnny and Scott are the best, as well as all the guys in the garage that I don't interact with. Being I am now a Widow, I have to be able to trust people. After waiting two hours for Walmart to tell me they didn't have headlight bulb in stock. Purchased bulb at Auto zone and went to Brakes Plus . I've never had any trouble with any of my visits. On occasions, they tend to get a lil slow when busy but otherwise, they're pretty much on time as they tell you if you make an appointment. The staff is usually nice and very good with customer service. If anything extra has come up during my oil changes, they always call before doing anything extra and make sure it's something I want to do. They also helped me find a possible recall issue on my vehicle and gave me the bulletin so I can check it out with my dealership. With alignment issues, they printed out the diagnostic so I could see what the problem was as well as told me what it would take to fix it down the road. The guys at Brakes Plus in Buckeye, AZ are amazing! They do quality work with fair pricing. I wouldn't (and haven't) taken my vehicles anywhere else the last few years. Scott and Dan ALWAYS treat me with courtesy and respect, as do the other technicians, but I generally deal with those two. I can ask ANY question, no matter how simple it may be to them. They always answer in a way I can understand. They never try to sell me any extra services. They've always been honest and I know if they say I NEED a service, then I definitely NEED it! Shop with good intentions but not always the best execution. Not a bad place overall. The Service Managers are very friendly and easy to talk to. The issue with the business is the management of the mechanics. Usually in high volume chain stores like this, the pay for mechanics is a bit lower so you have a somewhat high turn over rate and therefore not allot of seasoned techs. I have taken 2 different vehicles there a total of about 6 times and most of those times the experience was positive. You just need to understand some things before taking your car there. Make sure you are as specific as possible with them and be nice and polite. We all get upset when our cars break down but telling them what is wrong while angry usually results in something missed. Be cautious of getting major work done there. If you are getting major work down, leave your car there and let them take as long as they want. Don't rush them! I would go back to them for basic services like flushes and even brakes but I wouldn't go back for major work. They aren't cheap at all and sometimes you will get a mechanic who rushes the job. One larger job I had done was installing a new steering rack in an 03 Crown Vic. They did a good job as far as I could tell but they were much more expensive than some other large well known shops I later discovered. I also had an 02 Dodge Ram that blew a lower radiator hope and I took it to have it looked at to see if anything else needed replacing along with the hose because I didn't have the time to go through it then. They said the radiator was bad which I didn't quite believe considering I put it in less than a year previous (yeah I should have switched the hose but didn't). I paid the diagnostic fee, brought the truck home and took the radiator out to inspect. It was totally fine (still like new) and by the stiffness of the bolts I can tell they never actually removed and inspected it. This was almost 2 years ago and still no issues with that radiator. So just be aware, I don't think they are "BAD mechanics" or anything, I just think they are a high volume place and they push their guys to mow through jobs as fast as possible. If I had to place blame, I would say it lays on the business model of jamming through jobs that the Brakes Plus Corp has put into place. read more

Ill start off by saying these guys are nice,which is why it stung a lil bit having to deal with them the last 3 months i took my car in early September for brakes and a fluids flush on my Taurus Sho .was called a lil later and was told i need a new water pump and i said replace it.worse decision ever. After paying 3,300 dollars o picked up my car and instantly noticed a misfire and a horrible rumble in speeds above 50mph.and water still leaking..took it back they said they fixed it..they didnt ,same rumble.took it back..went in and talk to Jay w he said basicly they cant fix it and was having Ford Dealership pick it up and diagnose it that was Nov 16th .Gotta Call from Jared M the manger and he said he had a buddy come in afterhours and he said " oh just dirty heads" and i need to run 91 gas and cleanin additives. My husband took our car in on Tuesday and was told there were bolts missing from the A/C compressor that shredded a fan. They told us they would be able to have the car ready the next day. When the next day came around, they said they didn't have the right size bolts and would need to order the bolts and the car would be ready Thursday. Thursday the bolts had not come and we were told the car would be ready on Friday. Today is Friday and the car is still not ready because they misdiagnosed the problem and have to extract the previous bolts. Now, we're told the car will be ready Saturday. I've called to the speak to the manager so we can take our car elsewhere and now he won't return my calls. I would highly recommend getting your car to a mechanic that values your time and business, Brakes Plus clearly does not. read more

This place is by far the best place to service your vehicle when it comes to brakes, a/c, etc. etc. They're extremely courteous, their prices are reasonable, they're excellent when it comes to honoring warranties, and they care about you and your safety. I stopped in here because I had a rubbing sound wen I turned my wheel. I was glad to know that they worked on other things besides brakes. The guy who worked on my vehicle was familiar with the problem and did his "magic". It was a special grease job that was hard to get up into the area and he was an "expert" at finding and fixing the problem. If you are looking for a place to take your car for any kind of service, this is the place to go. Not only do they do good service, the people that run this store are super nice. When I unexpectedly had to leave my car with them for a few hours, not only did they drive me home but, when my car was ready, the offered to pick me up. Good service that I'm happy with. Have 200,000 on my jeep and they have a lot to do with that. If i call early enough to schedule an appointment they can have my car done in the hour they promise for your typical oil change. There have been times I've had to leave car for the day when i don't call earlier in the week but at least i can plan on that. Had a couple issues that were a bit more pricey but once the work was done my jeep was running like new again. read more
