Made a reservation on line. Had to fill in make model etc, and was given an appointment for a wheel alignment. Drove to the store and was told they did not do alignments for Mercedes.!! I asked why they would make an appointment knowing that, and was told it was a 'corporate' problem. Will not be using Brake Max in the future read more

Pretty disappointed to report that I such a bad experience at this BRAKEmax in Oro Valley after my engine light came on and I had to bring it in for a diagnostic and repair. I had had a previously good experience with a smaller issue, so I was hoping to repeat the experience, but instead there were so many problems with the service and integrity of this shop, including: 1. I called the night before to make an appointment, was given one for the next day and when I arrived, they said they hadn't written down my appointment but would try to fit me in 2. The diagnostic took over a day to run, and the bigger problem was that I had no communication whatsoever about what was going on with the car, so I had to call regularly to get updates. This is after I requested updates. 3. Once I got the final word about what was wrong with the car (water pump issue), they said they didn't have the part and would have to ship it from Phoenix and it would come the next day. At this point, I told them that we had to leave town by Sunday and they said they should have it by Saturday. 4. They gave me a huge quote to do the water pump replacement; I called the dealer and they gave me a quote that was over $500 cheaper, but the dealer wouldn't have the car ready in time for me to leave town so I had no choice but to stick with BRAKEmax. 5. They did not have the car done in time, so I had to rent a car, then fly back to Arizona to pick up the car and drive it back. Brutal. 6. I asked them to save all the parts they were taking out and they assured me they would set them aside. When we came to pick up the car, they said they didn't have them and couldn't find them. Really disappointed with the whole experience. Would obviously never go back. Tough time. read more

We like this BrakeMax. I made an appointment for an oil change online then called to find out how much it would be with the online coupon. Jeremy, the Manager gave me the price which worked. When we went in with the coupon we were told it would be more. Thankfully David honored the price since we printed out coupon. Trustworthy people. We recommend them. read more

They will attempt to upsell you parts and services you do not need. If they do perform work on your vehicle it will be substandard and I promise you will be back in a couple weeks when the parts start coming loose. Unfortunately, they fleeced me out of $700 for a single set of brake pads and two front rotors. In addition to performing such poor service of changing the brakes and rotors they informed me my serpentine belt and transmission fluid needed changing - how kind of them. I promptly took my vehicle to another shop who informed me that my serpentine belt and transmission fluid were perfectly fine and appeared brand new. I will never recommend you use utilize this businesses services unless you want to over pay for shoddy work. I repeat: do not use this business. read more

Vastly overcharged me for shock absorbers. Charged $295 each for Monroe shock absorbers that sell for less than $110 at nearby O'Reilly Auto Parts. Claimed they paid more than retail for parts they purchased wholesale. Been doing business with them for 20 years. Will never go back. read more

came in for an oil change and asked to rotate my tires. I also asked if they could top off windshield wiper fluid and they said they would. Sure they changed my oil but they did NOT rotate my tires (I know because I marked them prior) and they did not top off windshield wiper fluid. they told me my engine air filter needed to be replaced, which it did not. they didn't have my oil when I made the appointment 5 days ago. so I ended up waiting over 2 hours for an oil change.

Last Friday at 5:30 pm I went to Brake Max because, all of a sudden, at 5pm my A/C stopped working. We were leaving for CA for Mother's Day weekend at 7am the next morning. I stopped at 2 other places before I fortuitously noticed Brakemax going north on Oracle. Robert said his AC mechanic had just left, but they would look at it first thing Saturday morning. I have noticed that most garages in Oro Valley/Tucson are closed on Saturdays, so I was thrilled to find out they could look at it Saturday. Robert got in touch with me Saturday morning (while I was on my way to CA in a borrowed vehicle) & said they couldn't find anything wrong with it after multiple tests Saturday & Monday. I was told it would be $35 for the check & that's what I paid when I picked it up this morning. They could have taken full advantage & done AC work that I didn't need. My car has 165k miles on it- they are honest & have great customer service. I'm super impressed. read more

A few reasons I like BRAKEmax so far 1) they DO write a CARFAX report for services rendered which is important to me for transparency reasons in case I want to sell my car in the future. That report is handy also for tracking repairs in case I need to relocate and get a different service location. The last several mechanics I have had do not do this and it is refreshing to find a location that does. 2) shuttle service is offered. That is important because sometimes I can't stay all day for service times. 3) they are open Saturday's which is extremely helpful for me because I work M-F. 4) they are part of the Costco Auto Program authorized service location list which means I got to save 15% off a car repair, in this case, a costly one that amounted to $500 in savings. Them being associated with the Costco Auto Program is how I actually found out about this location and why I am transferring services here. 5) I have been impressed with the customer service provided by the store manager Jeremy. 6) a detailed list of recommendations including pictures was emailed to me which is nice to help make informed decisions to include coordinating with my wife. I have never had an auto service location send such a report via email before. The only comparable list I have received was from Lemon Squad on a pre-purchase inspection, but that was not a mechanic. The detailed report from BRAKEmax was free. Something I had to pay $200 to Lemon Squad for. read more

I called prior to coming in and spoke with Jim. He was very professional, informative, friendly and answered all of my questions. I came in the same day and was greeted right away. Very friendly staff. My oil change was done even quicker than they quoted. Jim went over all the information with me, completely no pressure on having additional services done, just recommendations with reasonable prices. Simple oil and filter change. Took over 2 hours with appointment. Went home and popped the hood and they sprayed brake cleaner all over the plastic because they spilled oil over everything. Brake cleaner made plastic white. Don't trust them anymore. Also dripped oil on ground for a week. read more

They put a part in to fix AC 2 years ago. Took car back and thr part had broken off, was defective. They charged me again for the diagnosis, new part and labor. On NAPA the part is warranties for 5 years. Wonder where they got the part. I do like the mechanics here, but will get my parts at the dealer from now on. Dealer quote for same thing was lower, but I thought this place would not charge me again for same repair that went wrong. I drove car without AC for a year and a half, because they told my husband they'd recharge for diagnosis and he didn't want to pay twice for that. Went for a regular oil change, a half hour service. And a synthetic change around $95. Came out 3 hours later with a bill over $300. Said I had a tire that was "feathering" and could pop at any time. So replaced it with a tire "on sale." Yes I am a woman and of course feel taken advantage of. But as I was waiting another male was told the same thing about a tire of his. What a coincidence? I will never go to them again and suggest you don't also. read more

I brought both my cars there for years and was happy but now they tried to scam me with the old "you have a nail in your tire" scam. You know where, during an oil change, they find a nail in the sidewall of your tire, where you can never see it and where it can't be repaired - but I'm in luck because today they have a 4 for the price of 3 sale going on!... Long story short, I heard that one many times before and declined. Now, 3 months and 3,000 miles later, my tires are just fine. I don't need to be lied to to squeeze extra money out of me. Went here for an oil change because I had a coupon from the entertainment book for 50% off an oil change. They were so busy It took 4 hours to have my oil changed, when finally got back to pick up my car they had a list of things they said my car needed "immediately" which added up to over $1000, so I decided to get a second opinion and ended up not needing anything on the list that they said was needed "immediately". Also, my oil change still added up to more than my regular place even with the coupon. Will not be returning here. read more

Wow just wow !!!! Amazing service received here from the second I walked in the door !! I actually came here for a free II change and asked about my brakes to be checked due to squeaking . And man I tell you what Jeff noticed that my brake calipers were put upside down pinching the line. It was from brake masters on oracle what a scam place !!!! Anyways he fix that and the noise went away !! He went above and beyond what he even had to do !! He actually took time explaining everything to me and showing me what he was doing! Even when they were busy!! I will be back for sure it's hard to find honest mechanics these days ! Brake max is one of them ! Over the Thanksgiving break my daughter took my car in for a noise it was making. We were pretty sure we already knew what was causing it, but wanted to have it checked. She was told that they couldn't hear the noise so there was nothing they could do. They didn't even offer her the chance to pay for a diagnostic. So we took it over to Oro Valley Automotive, without Jeremy even hearing a noise he looked at it and found that it needed brakes. They replaced them the same day and we were on our way. I usually like this Brakemax location, but was very disappointed that they weren't interested in helping my daughter. So will need to reconsider my options in the future. read more

Has to be one of the worst auto places I have ever seen. Called in at 8:20 am to make an appointment to service our 2018 Audi q5. They said come in at 2pm. I then asked, do you want my name? Do you want to know what kind of car I have? Came in at 2pm they had no record of my appointment. Guy at the counter rudely stated the guys in the morning don't write down appointments. Said they would squeeze me in. It would take about 1.5 hours. I came back after 30 minutes and saw my audi on the lift. After about 30 minutes he tried to call me. I interrupted him to say I was sitting right there. He then stated they couldn't change my oil because they don't have the drain plug tool. Are you kidding? He said it was because my car is new, it's not, it is two years old. Total waste of time. They don't have a clue read more

Very disappointed. I always use Toyota dealer for all my car services. But this time after seeing so many good reviews decided to give BRAKEmax in Oro Valley a try. I was very disappointed. I came for a simple oil change. After 45 minutes of waiting I was informed that they broke the oil filter housing and I need a new one. Of cause they blamed the previous mechanic who over tighten it. After two hours of waiting I was told to pay an additional $100 for the part they broke. I looked up the price of this part online and it was $39 at Toyota dealership and $30 in every other store in town. When I asked why the price is so high, Jeremy, the store manager told me that they do not buy their parts at Toyota dealer or online. If this is true, why would they buy parts from the place that charges twice more than a Dealership? Big question!   Then Jeremy decided to give me a "discount" and dropped the price to $69.99 for a $30 part. What a scam. Looks like they are in the business of taking advantage of Oro Valley residents by reselling the parts with three-fold profits,  not to repair their cars. That's such a shame. I always try to give my business to the companies located in Oro Valley. BRAKEmax will not be one of them. read more

This place has somehow shot itself in the head. The service and quality have declined to less than garbage. Nothing is on time. Nothing is accurate or complete. Nothing is followed through. Be warned. Something has happened here and it is not the same place anymore. Oil changes with appointment now take 4.5 hours. Alignments come out worse than when they started, with the measurements to prove it, and no offer or information to fix the parts causing bad alignments. Took my car there and left it for hours to get an estimate for brakes, the estimate was never delivered and no one ever followed up on 1000 worth of brakes. Fkn idiots. This is probably the worst auto shop. Went in the other day my window needed to be repaired. They had to replace the window regulator and way over priced me. Glad I did not follow through. I felt rushed to make a decision and I felt like they were trying to rip me off. When I told the workers to not go through with the repair. They slammed my keys down and slapped a paper down in my face. They had a horrible attitude just because I didn't want their service. Found the piece cheaper at other locations and even online. (I have had my car serviced by BrakeMax Oro Valley for the past 8 years.) As a woman, I usually have dreaded in the past taking my car in to get it fixed -- you never knew if you were going to have to deal with someone who didn't realize women are people too. This is not a problem for the BrakeMax Oro Valley team -- in fact, when you go there, they make you feel like family. Wow! For example, they treat you with respect and dignity and are compassionate and honest about which repairs are needed now and which can be left for the future. Very few auto places will do that for you. Myself, I greatly appreciate that kindness and consideration. They also will drive you to work (if you need to leave your car for service) in their free shuttle. That alone has made a great difference for me and taken out a lot of the remaining stress of taking in my car for repairs.
