I came to this establishment at the recommendation of America's Tires on Magnolia in Riverside. I was pleased that Sergio Sanchez permitted me to watch the inspection and appreciated the mechanic's recommendations. I was somewhat surprised that it was necessary to replace a part (idler arm) that had been replaced not long ago by Hemborg Ford (yes, I went to them first, but that's a different story), but the mechanic's diagnosis and Sergio's explanation made sense. Also, they did not try to sell me things that I was pretty sure were unnecessary because they were parts that I had replaced or inspected myself in the recent past. Sergio was able to schedule my F-150 that very day. Although the repair was expensive, one of the parts was significantly less than I had previously paid to Ford. Besides, the irregular wear on my truck's front tires made it very clear that the repairs were necessary. When I returned a few hours later to pick up my truck, the difference in handling was immediately evident. What an improvement! I appreciated their accurate diagnosis, their prompt service, their friendliness, and the lifetime warranty on parts. read more

Definetely up-sellers. One mechanic said I don't need brake pads replaced yet and these people tried to tell my grandma all rotors and brake pads. They tried to take advantage. Crazy read more

Adrian help me out big-time brakes were fixed in an hour at a very good price. great service great price. I will be a lifetime customer...

Awful customer service. Everyone was so rude and did not know how to answer my questions.

I got new brakes and rotors replaced may 5th 2018, had to go back 7 months December 2018 later cause oh my brake fluid was leaking, now august 2019 8 months after last visit there my damn emergency brake wont engage and the warning is going off in car, I have never had so many BRAKE problems in my life with any car I've owned, we have had this car 4 years and now I have to take it back to see what is wrong again, if I have to bring car in every 7 to 8 months cause the brakes are having issues after getting new ones then I'd rather not go here anymore, this is ridiculous and in no way should I be having this many problems, they charge an arm and leg then you have issues after the fact insuring you go back to spend hundreds more cause they are incapable of doing anything right and morally good for anyone, ridiculous if I'm charged for the emergency brake I'll be pissed. read more

Heres the deal, came here for brake service once before and the service was decent, so I decided to give them another shot ( that was my mistake ). They tried to gouge me for as much $$$ as they could get. Came in for a front brake job with a coupon from THEIR web sight. And the guy here said that they didn't honor. Now here comes the bait and switch, my 129$ brake job went to over 700 dollars. So if your looking for good customer service and a fair price please stay away from this place, because they do not care about you as a customer, they want your MONEY!!! so cross this establishment off your list. Heres the bottom line, business's need to be called to the carpet and stop taking advantage of people. i finally ended up paying about 187$ for something that was on a coupon for 129$ that was not expired and printed from the company's web sight! please pay attention Yelpers, STAND UP and say NO to cheaters! last thing, the person who helped me just transfered in, humm i wonder why......... read more

Brake Masters - Brake masters off van buren blvd and indiana - Auto Repair Near Me - Riverside, California

I dealt with brake masters on two separate occasions. On the first occasion, I found thier service to be terrible and very poor. On the second of occasion , they wanted to charge over $700 for a break and rotor job. I liked the lifetime warranty on brakes but couldn't believe the price. I shopped around and found a company that could do as good a job for $250. Break masters also failed to let me know that they could shave the rotor down as opposed to replace the rotors. ... Needless to Say I was very unhappy that they tried to gauge for additional 450. . I will never go back or recommend this place to anybody. Shop around. Furthermore, they are closely affiliated with America's tires who normally does a great job but is guilty by association in my opinion. read more

We went in to get a brake job, quoted $225 per axle over the phone. We drop the car off, they call us and say we need new rotors so now it's $390. We've never had our rotors rotated or resurfaced so we couldn't wrap our head around why we needed new ones. We told them we'd call them right back with a decision but instead we actually went back to pick up our car. When we get there, they told us they would take us out to measure everything in front of us. We told them that was not necessary. We took it right across the street to Jerls brake & mufflers, they also couldn't understand why we needed new rotors. So, we went from paying $390 to $150. Stay away from brake master. We were told they work on commission so they're going to take you for your money. read more

Don't go here...I came in on an alignment coupon that says most cars $49.95... so anyways they wanted to charge me over double ($109.00).... yes I have a Mercedes but it's not any different to align my Mercedes than any other car and I know because I get it done at Big O Tires all the time for $79 bucks, just like every other car, nothing special but they saw I had a Mercedes so they decided to jack the price up ...nice coupon...worthless really... it's really annoying when this happens ... it's false advertisement. read more

THE DISHONEST, RIP-OFF SCAM ARTIST THAT WE ALL FEAR - this is FACT. I brought my beat up old van that I had been told just desperately needed a fluid change; it was behaving as though the parking brake was on. I explained that I was broke and the van wasnt worth much. They argued that fluid wouldnt cause that problem, and told me I needed new rotors, new calipers, new pads, new blah bla blah, $1800. They were LYING. I had to pay them $45 for their rip-off attempt. I took it across the street to Jerl's. Jerl's told me it WAS the fluid as I suggested, and that the fluid caused the master cylendar to go bad. Only $300! I then drove all the way to San Jose, up high into the mountains, and back, and it was perfect. It has been perfect ever since. I did not need any of the things Brake Masters said, and the only thing I did need wasn't even on their list. This place needs to be shut down! read more

Took my car here because the brakes were squeaking. The brake pads and rotors were just replaced 8 months earlier, but I wanted to make sure everything was okay. An hour after I dropped it off, the manager called and said the rotors and brake pads were completely ground down and all needed to be replaced. He gave me a quote for over $700. Needless to say, I took it to another mechanic who took a look at the brakes and determined that there is nothing wrong with the car. There's a reason why this place is always empty. read more

Wow!!!....really?....left America's tire on Wed, to go to Brake Masters today on their recommendation. Went in told them about my issue regarding wear on my tires (which America Tire told me it was because of the alignment). While my car was on the rack, they decided to quote me $1000.00 in additional problems they found. Thid increased from the $79 just for the alignment. I called my personal mechanic and he stated that they shouldn't be doind alignments if the car has a bad tire and suspension issues (Brake Masters stated that my inner tire rod has some "play"). Once I told the guy what my mechanic said, he froze up and agreed. He then said I could come back to get my alignment done within 90 days for free....no worries, won't trust u to do that again.....greed, for the "love" of money is the root of all evil. read more

This place is untrustworthy. I would not recommend ANY one here. I went in for an oil change after being quoted $45, on the phone for full synthetic oil because of a special they were having. When I got there the guy said $49.99 which I though "not a big deal, I'm already here, and It's cheaper than the $60+ everywhere else." While the car was being fixed, he comes out with my air filter, tells me they'll change it for $30. He must have mistaken my sweetness for stupidity. I tell him no thanks, and he says "ok, ok I'll do it for $20". That alone has to make you wonder what kind of people work there. Here we have another scheming mechanic trying to squeeze every last penny from your wallet. He left the room upset. Comes back at the end and tells me, "oh do you know anything about cars? Because see, we actually needed a more expensive oil filter for your car which is actually 8 something instead of the regular 3 something." WHAT! I responded by asking him if he didn't know that when I told him the make and model of my car over the phone? OR when he typed it in the computer and the material came up? He got all puffy and started telling me that's why he was explaining it to me now... again, WHAT?! ( How naive did he think I was?) I told him that the money difference didn't bother me, but the principle of it did. He's going to tell me about the changes AFTER he does them and then try and charge me? I didn't sign off on that, pretty sure we were turning into legal issues. His nonchalant demeanor completely changed and he stated mumbling nonsense. Very rudely told me that it wasn't a big and he would take care of it. I ended up paying $62 and some change after taxes..... HMMM, let me tell you something. IF it wasn't a big deal and if Brake Masters knew anything about customer service, he would have told me that he made a mistake and forgot to charge me/tell me about the price difference in the beginning. He would have said it's on the house and next time they would have to charge me. That's an ethical and professional shop. It's not about the money but the principle. I can only imagine how much more they try to charge you or slide in with bigger repairs. I have been to the one in Fontana and Norco and they gave service with integrity and respect. I do NOT recommend this place to anyone. read more

SHADY place...I went in for an alignment and break inspection. I signed my original work order to authorize the work. When they completed the work they told me my breaks were at 1%...I was surprised because I was just told they were at 60% from another business. I noticed that they had changed my original work order (that I had already signed)... to reflect that. I asked for a copy of it and he refused and said it was against company policy. I called the corporate office only to find out this is a franchise owned business and couldn't do much about it. I guess I should have checked their yelp rating first! read more

I scheduled an appointment For a free brake inspection at 11:30. I was told it should be an hour wait. They took my car apart, put it up on the lift, then went on lunch at 12:15. At 12:45 I was told I needed hundreds of dollars in repairs. That was a lie and I knew it. I told them I was mostly concerned about the front brakes and rotors and planned on doing the work myself. The man at the counter accused me of wasting his time then told his mechanic to focus on other cars instead of putting mine back together. This place has rude employees and I felt like they were trying to rip me off. read more

My brake sensors had been going off for some time. Went in at 3:00 for a brake check. Was told the front and rear brake pads needed to be replaced, no surprise since my car has 30,000 miles and this would be the first time for installing new brakes. My rotors were still good. They resurfaced the rotors and replaced the brake pads. They finished in under 3 hours. Not too bad given they were pretty busy. The brakes felt great on the drive home. They were friendly and professional. Only reason I gave them 4 stars instead of 5 is that a few customers in the lobby had been complaining about waiting all day. I would definitely go back again. read more

I have read the other reviews on this site and I am actually very surprised at the negative reviews. TJ was patient, honest and truly reminded me of an old school repair shop gear head. I come from a family full of mechanics and grew up around hot rods and cars. I know for a fact that people DO NOT TAKE CARE OF THEIR CARS like they should... always skirting by and doing the bare minimum instead of paying little by little to fix and clean and repair problems before they turn into catastrophes. Everyone wants every dollar and doesn't want to take care of things themselves so their cars do not last and they get made when they break. My Boyfriend was one of those people.. never wanting to spend money on his truck unless he had to, and even when he had to he would wait until it completely broke to cause even more money being taken from his pocket just to get it repaired. Well.. this past Sunday I put my foot down, he needed to take care of something's before it dug him into a hole. Recently he got a job back in his field and spends 2 hours on the road to work and 2 hours after work. TIME FOR SOME TIRES AND SOME MAINTENANCE! those now bought used been used ab-used tires and old breaks weren't gonna keep him safe. We started off at American Tire and Ended up at Brake Masters per their request for us to go get the brakes/rotors/etc inspected before continuing on the road. T.J. was such a fantastic help! He definitely needs a raise for all the extra time on a Saturday he dedicated to helping get us financed for all the work that was needed. He stayed almost 2 hours after closing on the phone to get this truck going, offered to pay for a rental car and was ultimately the nicest mechanic I have ever met that DIDNT own the place that they worked. He was a manger at a corporate brake shop that was going above and beyond to get everything in working order. He broke everything down, broke down what was needed vs what he recommended and told us the best way to go about all the repairs that were needed. I spoke with my family members and with the amount of work that needed to be put into the vehicle and the amount of man power and time it was going top take they all agreed that it was a great idea to get the truck done fast and get it back up and running the way it is supposed to without getting injured. All the guys at the shop looked like they wanted to go home but were polite and went out of their way to stay and help. TJ stayed even later and even made sure the truck was safe inside the building. read more

Came here despite the negative reviews ... Came in for an alignment .... I must say I got great service (manager: Sergio) they honored my coupon at the original price even though they hadn't updated their prices to reflect the new/actual price ... I didn't get bombarded with any up sells; however, the manager did answer all my questions with regards to prices for future services needed ... I was extremely happy with the service and would most definitely come again and recommend this place... read more

Definitely two thumbs down for this business! Somewhat insulting and rude talking about brakes job that was just done not too long ago and trying to convince that needs to be done immediately with Way over priced quote. Even the alignment was over priced even with a coupon. NOT a good business ethics and definitely NOT honest. Watch out ladies and guys who don't know much about cars! read more

My experience here at this Brake shop. Get 10 stars and a dozen thumbs up. Sergio was extremely well mannered and knew what he was talking about. I ended up there when jiffy lube couldnt perform everything i needed done to my car. When i called Sergiotold me to come and have a free brake inspection before he could quote me an estimate. His attitude was extremely friendly. When i got there and waited fir the inspection to finnish he had a great attitude and if i had any questions or didnt understand something he made sure i understood. Wellwhen i recieved my quote i didnt have the funds needed. So to my surprise he said maybe we can finance u. With my credit? I dont think so. Again to my surprise it happened i was able to get my repairs done with a low payment and monthly payments. This shop gas great workers who do a great job. And make u feel comfortable while waiting. I just got my brakes done this Saturday and I had the best experience I've ever had at any mechanic shop. I know nothing about cars and as a female who recently lost her husband really did appreciate Sergio walking me outside and explaining all the work my car needed in detail. I felt very comfortable with his explanation and went ahead and got the work done. This is all new to me to have to do these things on my own. I appreciate him financing me, that was huge help for me. Thank you again Sergio and to the mechanic that did the work, he was very nice too. read more

Didn't fix any problem. We used to get the alignment from America's tire. However this time America's tire said they no longer do alignment and gave us a coupon for this Brake Masters nearby. So we went and paid 69.99 (without coupon is 99) for an alignment. The store said they did the alignment and rotated problematic tires. BUT in reality they didn't! They didn't rotate the tires and the problem still exists! Nothing is fixed. read more

This place is really shady and try to take advantage of people. I took my car in for a simple pad change. They called me about an hour later saying I need new calipers, rotors and pads all the way around and they would be willing to do it for the low, low price of $1000. Maybe they assumed that since I brought the car in that meant I had no knowledge of cars. Well, thats not the case. It was just convenient that I had to work a Saturday, they're around the corner from my work and I had a $60 off coupon. I figured why not let someone else do it while I work. Needless to say I declined their service and proceeded to do it myself when I got home. Come to find out that I still had just over .100" of meat left on my rotors (roughly 5,000 miles of life left) which is weird since they said my rotor was in critical condition. These guys are FAKE! I would NEVER suggest anyone go there. Oh, and while I was changing my brakes I noticed that I was leaking oil. I just changed my oil a week ago and know that the bolt on the oil pan was very tightly sealed. I can only assume this was their pathetic attempt to get even with me after calling their bluff and telling them I'd be writing this review. Spread the word so these liars and theives are shut down. read more

OUT FOR YOUR MONEY!! I have been bringing my car here for 4 years because I heard they did great work at a more affordable price than the dealer. Every time I come in I end up paying at least $300. I got the warranty on everything when i came in March of 2012. They told me if I bring it in before the brakes are worn out I don't have to buy new ones. I just have to pay the labor which would be about $58. I came back in March of 2014 before I felt or noticed anything wrong with the car to get breaks and they told me I needed so and so done and I wasn't quite sure that I didn't so I had them fix it. I ended up paying close to $700. Now February 2015 I bring it in for an inspection and i get told in need to replace most of what was done last year and that it'll cost me about $562. I told Tj they aren't even making noise or having trouble breaking I just needed them checked for my peace of mind and to know when to get them switched. He then tells me oh then you should be fine you don't have to replace a thing. Wtf then why did you previously say I had to? Why inspect it and say I needed this done just to tell me oh nevermind then. NOT A RELIABLE OR HONEST PLACE. WILL BE CONTACTING TH E BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU read more

Service was average. For some reason I made an appointment online for 7:30a and they don't open until 8:00. I just thought the company should fix this. When you come to this location, disregard the prices on the board. This place is like a swap meet. I was quoted a $3000 job, after just wanting brakes, the manager magically got it down to my budget of $1200. I'm hoping the quality of their work is decent. I just dislike this shady practice of price haggling. I'm sure I overpaid, but if I was more naive, I'd be walking out of that place with $3000 tab. A little fishy that they have financing posters everywhere. My brakes have a lifetime warranty, but I won't be back, just due to the fact they high balled me such a ridiculous amount. Be cautious. The other reviews of ridiculous quotes are true. I guess the reason why I gave them a star is because the manager was nice, he seemed to not have any remorse trying to convince people of overpaying. read more

I highly recommend this place to everyone. I originally went in there to get a stud replaced because the guy at America's Tire said they would do it for me there at no charge. While I was there a guy came in to get his alignment checked. He was prepared to pay $70 for the work. The Brake Masters guys checked out his alignment and found it to be fine. They told the gentleman that his car was good to go. He left without having to pay anything and with having piece of mind that his car was ok. Another customer came in while I was there. This woman was a regular and they remember her and her car and quickly took care of her. I went back last week to have them work on my daughter's car. I knew there was something really wrong with the rear brakes and was worried about how much it would cost to fix. Sergio and the guys at Brake Masters took the time to show me my old brakes and the leak that was happening. They also showed me the new parts that were installed and did the work quickly. I would not have gone to Brake Master's had I read the other Yelp reviews before I went. I would have really missed out. I know I will continue to get my brakes, alignments, oil changes, etc from Brake Masters. Thanks for the great service. read more

Sergio and Clemente helped me out tremendously! My daughter had our car at work and it had a flat. AAA came to change the tire for her and the driver said that all four tires were worn to the steel cord on the inside as bad as the tire that blew (we couldn't see it at all walking around the car), and he said she shouldn't drive it at all. I called America's Tire to ask about checking the alignment before installing new tires, and they recommended Brakemasters, so I had AAA tow the car to Brakemasters. This was late Friday afternoon, and they were about to close, but they said they would wait for the car, even if it was late. Saturday morning they called me and said that we had hit something on the right rear (the tire that blew out) and that there was a lot of damage that caused all of the misalignment and tire wear, and they sent me photos so I could see it. I still went down there just so I could see it in person, and they carefully showed me exactly what was wrong. One of the parts they needed wasn't available locally and they had to go to Long Beach to get it. They still thought they would be done in time to send the car back to America's Tire to get some new tires put on that afternoon. It turned out that while they were waiting for the parts, they took the car to America's Tire to have the new tires put on (I had already paid for them), then when the parts arrived they completed the repairs before the end of the day on Saturday! I couldn't ask for better customer service! read more
