Senior citizens beware! We took our car to Brake Masters #212 to replace the bulbs in both headlights. We supplied the replacement bulbs, just needed them installed. We were given an estimate of $147, and it would take 2 hours because they had to remove the bumper. Remove the bumper? Strange, but ok. A competitor down the street quoted us $189, so naturally we chose the lesser of the 2 quotes; although we thought $147 was still a little high. We are senior citizens and my husband is unable to do the work himself, so we dropped the car off, and they would call us when ready. They didn't call. When we picked up our car, we were presented with a bill for over $263! We are seniors on a limited income, and being overcharged ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS is a big deal. Nothing was itemized on the bill. Line after line had 0's, which somehow totaled $246 plus tax. No indication of actual time spent on our car. Now, they claimed that they needed to remove the wheel wells (not the bumper) to get to the headlights. If this was going to result in a higher bill, they should've gotten our approval first. Again, we are senior citizens, very limited income, and we feel they took advantage of us. We are left with questions. Why did they misquote the job? Why didn't they itemize the charges? Why didn't they call us when they decided to overcharge us by ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS??? Did they overcharge for the labor because we didn't buy the materials from them? The manager refused to change the bill. We feel cheated and will caution all of our friends and neighbors not to trust BRAKE MASTERS. Senior citizens beware. read more

Had an alignment done yesterday. Had a appointment and was quoted a hour wait. Took about 25 min to get my truck on the rack. Gentleman who did my paper work didn't seem pleasant rushy, I asked to pay before my truck was done just to get it out of the way Didn't seem like he liked that. When time came to give me keys. He reached out as he was going to give me the keys, as my arms were reaching to him. And he lays them on counter. I then proceeded to say thank you. And not a thank you or your welcome back. Nothing. On top of that my steering wheel is off. Highly disappointed. read more

This place needs new management. Some of the techs are good. I tried getting front suspension from these guys. The shift manager or supervisor said it was going to $4700+... I said nope. Then he said I'll give you a discount out $3800. I was so confused. I got my whole front suspension done for $800. New hardware and rubber boots. I got an alignment here. The alignment work was done properly. Although today I realized the boots were both damaged. I know what was and wasn't damaged before I took it in. I work on Power Plants and not cars. So you can't fool me. Anyways took it back. They said they couldn't do anything. The manager came out trying to explain to me that the shaft that the boot is on doesn't even move. The on thing they touch is the tightening nut to adjust the alignment. Hahaha! That not right! That's just a tightening nut. The shaft does more to align the vehicle. DO NOT USE THIS PLACE FOR ANYTHING. THEY TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THE ELDERLY WOMEN. CHARGING R&R 4x ($400) of a speed sensor that is in the hub already . They charged to take the sensor off when it's all in one part. The price for the axle hub bearing with speed sensor is $90 at Napa. And charging $300 for labor. All together $908. In all it was only 8 bolts that were taken out an put back in. 2 to 3 hours of service when it takes 30mins. It was not a engine over haul to charge $140 a hour. It was a flat rate job @ 30min for a experienced tech. They must have rookies to charge for 2 to 3 hours for a hub job. This place is a rip off. It saddens me to have such a crap place in my home town. I WILL REPORT THIS TO THE Better business bureau. We don't need places like this in our town. What happen to the customer being right ? Recently, I was traveling through Casa Grande, AZ and I had a leak of my caliper in the rear passenger side causing my brakes to fail. Apparently the rear breaks and rotors needed to be replaced as a result. This was over $1300. They were available to fix things right away, so that is why I am giving 2 stars instead of only 1 star. But they told me that my front brakes also needed to be replaced. I said I wanted a second opinion on the front brakes. When I got the second opinion today, I was told my front brakes were at 10-12 in wear and were fine! So they tried to cheat me, at least as to the front brakes, and who knows maybe did so as to the rear ones too. Not to be trusted. Shameful attempt at taking advantage of an older woman alone on the road. read more

About a year ago my wife took our van there as the alternator went out when we were traveling to Phoenix. Fast forward a year and my AC goes out. How are the two related you might ask? My mechanic told me whoever put the alternator in didn't put the boot on the protects the wires from crossing. They said it was just a matter of time and bumps in the road, so the wires crossed, and shorted my AC compressor and possibly my TIPM (problem still ongoing so I'm not sure yet). Now I've had the compressor replaced and the power still isn't going to it. These people ruined my car with their negligence and unfortunately the problem didn't show up for a while so I have no recourse other than to warn you to STAY AWAY from this place and their shoddy work. I had an alignment done on my wife's car at this shop. I drove it home and all seemed fine. The Tire pressure light came on during her commute to work and I checked the pressure all the way around when she got home. Rear tires were at the suggested 32psi and the front right was at 51psi and the left was at 62psi. The car drove fine, but it is unsafe to have the pressure that high. I brought the pressure back down to the recommended 32 psi. The tire pressure light went out but she said it pulled again. This really disappoints me because I have grown to trust this shop to take care of my vehicle maintenance. I was told at the time of picking up the vehicle that everything looked good and that they had equalized the tire pressure all the way around. It took time for one of the employees to increase the tire pressure as much as they did. Of course the car tracked straight sown the road because the front tires were crowned due to being over inflated. Having managed an auto repair business in my past, I know that honest, reliable, and reasonable repairs are the only way to keep customers satisfied and coming back. As you can see from my previous reviews, I have been happy with this establishment. If it were July or August and the tires were inflated as much as they were, I can only assume that the results would have been terrible resulting in a blow out. read more

It did not after going elsewhere and paying again they let me know they didn't even change the pads just charged me. Okay so I disputed the charges with my card. My son took his truck in for a check up on 5/23/22. They told him he needed a new engine among other things. Total bill $10,200 and some change. This was for a recycle salvage yard engine. The price for engine alone was $4800 standard OEM Spark plugs $21.95 each auto zone price under $3.00 each . They hold my son engine and truck would be done on 5/28/22 excuse after excuse his truck is still not done as of 6/11/22. I have had words with them and there shady business practices. To be straight I called them rip off central. There are four shops in the valley that will instal a remanufactured engine complete for $3800 with 2 or 3 warranty. They are telling my son they need a valve cover and can't get it for ten to fourteen days. Funny thing yesterday they told me they could get it today delivered from Tucson . Jim click ford in Tucson has it in stock. This is the shadiest over priced business i have ever seen. Please save yourself the hassle and protect your car don't walk from this place run. If I could give negative Five Stars I would. I will account for every word I say and I'm advising my son to contact the BBB & A Consumer protection Agency to report this business. read more

I came to Brake Masters this morning to get an oil change. Half an hour later, the manager was out talking to me, trying to take me for a ride for more than $900.00. Things I supposedly needed? A fuel injection flush, a brake fluid flush, three new filters, new brakes, and there was more on their sheet until they realized I wasn't interested. These guys are absolute sharks, and this is not the first time this has happened to me at Brake Masters. Stay away unless you know a lot about cars. read more

I have taken my previous vehicle to this particular location for brakes before and my experience was great. I explained to the service writer I intended to sell me vehicle soon and despite the rotors being slightly out of specifications he agreed to only change the brake pads. This time around I took my new vehicle (bought it used) in to check the brakes and have the brakes and alignment done (if need be) because I have a road trip coming up. I waited about half an hour and the service writer came to me with a quote for brakes and rotors and claimed the brake pads and rotors were at 2mm. Having worked part time as an automotive technician in the past I asked to see the brake pads and upon my inspection it was clear the brake pads were at 4-5mm which is still roughly 40% service life of the pads. I declined the brake replacement but still agreed to have the alignment done if need be. So I left and came back a few hours later and was told the alignment had been slightly out of specification. Having done alignments myself I was required to present the customer with a copy of the before and after toe, caster, and camber specifications. I was not presented with said paper, and had watched a customer before me receive a paper. I still would have happily paid for labor to have peace of mind that my vehicle was in sound mechanical condition. I will only give this location 3 stars because I was lied to about my brakes but they have proven to that their technicians are competent. I would just ask lots of questions if I were to employ the services of this location again. read more

They charged me $500 for totally unnecessary things and wanted to do another $1500 worth of work, when all that was wrong was the water pump, which they did not replace. I ended up with Brake Masters due to their relationship with Discount Tire. I've had several repairs done here, Replaced all my wheel studs, and Today a strut mount that had failed, and four wheel alignment . It's so nice to get an estimate and have them do JUST exactly what you asked for, and not try to sell you the store. My car has nearly 250,000 miles, and I'm sure some other repair store would find a dozen things wrong with the car, I was quoted a price and that's all they did, no monkey business. Thanks to Sammy and the guys for taking care of this cranky old man. It's a relief to find an honest break ! Took car here for a oil change before a trip to Cali and was told I needed brakes because pads on one side were "gone". I was skeptical because the car wasn't pulling so I went to another shop and they said nope your brakes are fine enjoy your trip. When I walked in, I could practically see the dollar signs registering in the store manager's self-important, mysoginystic eyes! "A woman! Let's see how much I can add on! I bet we can get some good money out of this one!" I made myself as clear as I possibly could. "I just want a simple oil change and if the air filter needs changed, then do that." I decided to go wait outside since the television was on in the store, and it was a distraction to my reading. I waited for about an hour and a half before he called me to tell me "all that they had found wrong with the car". I went back into the shop, and after hearing the long list of problems, I asked how all of that fit into a "simple oil change"? "I'm required to inform you of these things, Ma'am!!" He said with a loud sneer. "No George, you are required to do as your customer asked. A simple oil change. Period. That is what I will be paying for, and nothing more." They smell of scam. I took in my vehicle just to get shocks done, they call me on the phone and tell me to sit down. They then proceeded to tell me that I needed $2500 worth of work (basically replacing my front end) and that they could do financing. I decline and just get the shocks done. I go to pick up my vehicle, and they give me a quote for the services they recommend I get after the shocks, it totaled up to $862. Now, my shocks job cost $462, so $462 + 862 = $1024, NOT $2500. I wonder why the story changed? Anyways, I pick up my vehicle, and the guy at the front desk said I only really need bushings for my suspension. Amazing how the story changed THREE TIMES. Beware with these guys. Not everyone there is up front and honest, and they will look for a sucker. read more

I used them before when Bo was the manager and had good results, very unhappy with Sammy, found items on my bill that were not performed. The Tech told me i needed a new rack & pinion , i told him that they just replaced it 4 months ago, he then dropped the subject. This place is a hustle, go elsewhere. Wife and I live in Florence, went to Casa Grande on 12/1/16 getting alignment at Brake Masters. Dropped off 2012 Scion IQ for 4 wheel alignment about noon that day. Walked to the pizza shop (Geno's) around the corner sat and had lunch and since we had no where else to go, spent about an hour chatting with the owners. When we arrived back to Brake Masters wife wanted me to ask when it would be done, I objected and said let's just wait.... within 10 minutes the manager came back said it was done and being road tested. Paid for the 4 wheel align and was not talked into any up sell of other work needed. I do my own oil/lube but will be back to have tranny serviced soon. read more
