So, lately it's been snowing and the roads are not the safest but still manageable. I was driving along the Columbia gorge at a reasonable speed. At least i felt it was reasonable. A few people moving a little faster than i was. Ended up losing control and the left side of my truck hit the median. Regained control and kept driving as there wasn't any good spot to just stop and check the damage. Truck had a few scratches and the rear bumper had a fair sized dent but i felt very lucky. Tires looked good too. I kept driving. Was passing through Tigard and my driver side rear tire busted. I found a good place to stop and realized i dont have a spare, or a good jack. Long story short: I was walking a mile to Oreilys and happened across these guys. Walked in and asked if they had tools I could buy. Justin instantly jumped to help out. Got tools and a jack and drove me and Logan(one if their friendly mechanics) over to my truck. We got the tire off. Now we're waiting for his buddy to bring by some good tires to put on my truck. Alex is a good kid too helping out. Both he and Justin are staying after hours to help me out. I guess these guys dont just do brakes either. They work on everything automotive. Horrible, Experience! I only used them because my main mechanic shop was slammed! And breaks are very simple, I thought the mechanics they have would be competent enough to replace simple brake rotors and pads, I thought too much of them! They tried to over sell me, and then freaked out over a little corrosion, apparently these boys have never been east of Idaho! My vehicle is a 2019, so not all, I found everyone there to be incompetent, and when I politely called them out on it, they used foul language, which I think is extremely unprofessional, A person should never use foul language with a customer! Overall a horrible experience! I would recommend going with an actual mechanic shop! Sidenote, there is no parking and no space, make sure to check your car afterwards for any potential damage from the nightmare parking! read more

I'd give less than 1 star if I could. I knew I needed front brake pads, saw the "$100 per axle" and figured I'd give them a try. Boy, was that a big mistake. Now, I've done quite a bit of work on older Chevrolet vehicles over the years, but my current situation doesn't allow me to work on my 1996 Tahoe. After they supposedly inspected the brakes, I was informed that not only did I need pads, but also a pair of new calipers. Fine, not a problem. But then they inform me of other problems, 1)rear shoes, 2)rear brake drums, 3) tie rod end (inner and outer) tie rod adjustment sleeve, 4) pitman arm assembly, 5) idler arm assembly, 6) Both rear axle seals. Coming to a total for parts of $1200.68 the labor for said repairs was to be $778.42 with a hazmat fee of $5.85, for a grand total of $1984.92!!! The representative that I spoke to was trying hard to pressure me into giving the go ahead for them to start right away, but I'm old school, his pushing set off alarm claxons loud and clear. I told them to put it back together and I would pick it up and have to think about it. AGAIN, he was pushing, and then insinuating that it was unsafe to even move. I made it clear to him that I it had to wait for a little while. Took my Tahoe to Les Schwab on Monday, had them perform the same inspection. In under 30 minutes, I was informed that I needed front brake pads and one new caliper, not both. With a grand total, parts and labor, of $263.99. I showed the Schwab technician the estimate from Brake Force. He shook his head and asked me how much pressure sales tactics did they use? I explained it to him, and was promptly told that they inspected all of the same items, and NONE of it was needed. read more

This place quoted my pre-purchase inspection $30 cheaper than everywhere else, plus had great prices for new breaks. The only thing that I am not quite happy with is that they didn't tell me that the oil was super low. I didn't even notice (didn't think to check since it was JUST at the mechanic 3 days prior) that it was low until I was on my way it to the coast for the weekend and the check engine light comes on. The oil was below the minimum mark, plus when we checked the codes, the O2 sensor seems to have an issue. I'm a little disappointed that these guys didn't at least tell me about the low oil, and am now concerned about what else they didn't tell me about. Overall I feel moderate-to-low satisfaction with my service here, because checking the oil is so simple to do, yet they didn't seem to do it. UPDATE:(6-8-18) I ended up taking my car to a mechanic closer to home due to a ticking nose and continued issues with gas consumption. They came back with no oil (again) (less than a month later and after a second trip to Break Force to have them replace the valve cover gasket a second time), and the new place told me that there is supposed to be a sealant as well with the valve gasket, and there wasn't any, which was why it leaked all the oil out again. I'm very frustrated now because not only do I need to do that (for a third time in a month), but now I need to get my engine power washed to get all the leaked oil off (since it's also gotten on an engine fan and ruined that... $400 to fix ). There are also issues with the brake fluid having water in it; this is a break place, why did they not check the break fluid (or the other fluids for that matter??)? I have to pay almost $200 now to get it flushed and replaced at another shop. I want a refund of the labor and valve cover work they did that needed to be redone multiple times. In total this new place is telling me about $500+ that I need to have done that should have already been done. While I wouldn't say "don't go here", I would just say be smart about what you need done here and make sure you know what you're talking about when you ask for what you need. I would, however, never suggest for someone to get a pre-purchase inspection here (they didn't even check the fluids). read more

I had an obvious noise coming from my brakes. I made an appointment and was able to drop it off and pick it up later. Even though the manager was nice enough to keep me company at the end of the day I would have preferred to have had my car ready when I arrived. Only complaint is that I was giving an appointment on the phone but it didn't exist when I arrived this is obviously why I ended up waiting at the end of the day. I would recommend calling a few times before your appointment to reconfirm to possibly avoid this. read more

CON ARTISTS. I will not be returning & I suggest you don't either. I'm in the process of selling a vehicle & had an interested buyer set up a pre-purchase inspection with BrakeForce. They told me that a code came up in regards to the transmission, P0868, and this could mean a number of things: 1. My transmission line fluid was low. They checked it and it was full, so they ruled that out. 2. The sensor was broken. 3. The pump itself needed to be replaced, which is a transmission issue and would've been thousands and thousands of dollars to repair. However, the Check Engine light wasn't on, and the vehicle was showing no symptoms of a problem. Most of the time, the Check Engine light will come on with an issue like this. Since my Check Engine light wasn't on, they should have either cleared the code and checked again, or let me know that it could have been an old code and suggested I get the code cleared elsewhere if they aren't allowed to clear codes there (some mechanics won't clear codes due to liability issues). They never mentioned this as a possibility, they only tried to sell me a couple hundred dollar sensor to rule out a sensor issue, and then would have allowed me to spend thousands and thousands of dollars on a new transmission if replacing the sensor didn't clear the code--which it wouldn't have, because it turns out that it was an old code all along! I had Les Schwab clear the code, then I drove the vehicle 52 miles and took it to AutoZone, where it came up perfectly clear. So at best, the mechanics who checked my vehicle were idiots who didn't think to clear the code (or suggest that I find someone else to clear it before spending thousands of dollars) even though there were NO symptoms suggesting a transmission issue, including no check engine light. And at worst, they're con artists who saw a young girl and thought they could take advantage of her. Save yourself some time and money and go to Accurate Auto. They won't take advantage of you just because you're a young woman who looks like she knows nothing about cars. If you don't take my advice and decide to come here anyway, do NOT allow them to do ANY repairs without getting a second opinion. read more

I started going to Brake Force when I broke down behind their shop. We were trying to get the vehicle jumped to no avail. It was cold and after hours but Justin saw us struggling outside. He came and asked if he could help, I explained my situation and have been bringing my car here for all my maintenance. Justin is friendly and the gentlemen there have been all helpful. I will never recommend this place to another person! Earlier this year, I had them replace my breaks and do my wheel alignment. A short time after, I had an issue with my breaks going out, while driving. It was a scary time. I was only able to stop by putting the car into neutral and using a curb, in a parking lot, to be able to come to a complete stop. I had my car towed to the nearest Les Schwab. There, they discovered that my calipers had not been bolted down completely. After a lot of back and forth and me threatening legal action, Brake Force finally agreed to reimburse for the cost of Les Schwab correctly Brake Force's mistake. Today, I had to have my alignment re-done because my new tires (purchased this year) had already been worn down, significantly. Les Schwab told me that there was no way my alignment could have gotten as for off as it did in such a short time, if my alignment had been done correctly the first time. I will never give Brake Force my business, again. I will stick with Les Schwab, even though they cost a little more. They, at least, seem to actually know what they are doing. read more

I brought my car into Brake Force on Saturday after setting up an appointment. Within 45 minutes, I was told that though I had replaced the calipers recently (voiding my warranty), they would still replace the front brake pads without charging me. They replaced my rear brakes and did a brake fluid flush for $130, which was less than I was expecting to spend. The work took a couple of hours, but I was expecting to spend time there, as fluid flushes can take a while. This morning on my commute into work I noticed my emergency brake light on and sluggish acceleration, so I called the shop and asked if they could take a look right away. They got me in and out in about 10-15 minutes and they did not charge me to fix the issue. I still made it to work on time, and I didn't have to worry about damaging my car! Always trustworthy, honor their warranties and very accommodating! Highly recommended! read more

After purchasing a used car my friend recommended I take it to Brake Force because the brakes were making noise and I figured I needed new brakes. So I did. Got a call from them an hour later saying my brakes were still good and that they only needed to be cleaned out for dust, rocks etc. which they happily did free of charge. Received an incredible offer in the mail to get my brakes done here. $200 ($100 per axle) and a free oil change. I made an appointment and dropped off the car only to be told that it would be four hours before I could pick it up. What's the point of making an appointment? About 2 hrs later I received a phone call that I needed to have my calipers replaced and a hydrolic flush as well, totalling about $800, with the brake coupon. There was no way I wanted to spend that so I politely asked if they could just do what was on the coupon and I was ok with there being no guarantee on the breaks. After I refused this obvious upsale Jim informed me they would not be doing my breaks and to come pick up my car. Always good customer service! I went in for the brake special; when my brakes started making noise about a year later, they replaced the brake pads as the one's they installed were 'not quality'. Unhappy that I had to return for this service, but they responded quickly and did not charge me anything for the new pads/installation. They even did a tire rotation for me, as I mentioned my car had a bit of a wiggle on the freeway. Comfortable and clean waiting room with complimentary coffee. I stopped for a safety check and was told that I needed a repair that cost over $550 and (this is the worst part) I was told that if the service was not done right away, I could have a terrible accident. The next day, I went to Les Schwab for a quick inspection. Schwab indicated there was no chance of a terrible accident, and they could fix it for $320. I cannot say enough good things about this place! Moved here from out of state and needed to pass the DEQ inspection and my stupid check engine light was on. Long story short I came here thanks to the great yelper reviews, and was not disappointed. First off, they are open on weekends. I understand it's nice to have weekends off, but that's when I can afford to go car-less! Also car errors don't always happen M-F 9-5. Second, they were able to work on my Jetta. Back where I am from most shops are separated by european & american/japanese cars, which meant the european shops could charge higher prices due to exclusivity. It made me dread taking my car in (hence the ignored check engine light). Third, David talked to me about what was going on, advised me on where I could save money, and was really easy to work with. Just went in for brake fluid flush. Price was about average, maybe a little higher than what I've been quoted elsewhere, but the guy at the desk really inspired my trust. He was knowledgeable and trustworthy, not pushing services that didn't need to be done. Details: So I took my car to the dealer, and dealer said I needed brake fluid and compliance bushings replacement because they were torn. I got a quote from Les Scwhab on the brake fluid, but they had no idea what compliance bushings were... even their brake expert on staff didn't know what that was. I brought it here and they knew exactly what I was talking about and told me that I'd be good to go for quite some time, that the dealer can sometimes just be extra aware of the smallest little stuff sometimes. This saved me $500 in itself. The only downside was that I had to wait a little bit to get my car serviced, longer than the 30 minute quote to change the brake fluid. Really they were just waiting for a spot to open up... the job itself only took 30 minutes, but it would have been nice to know that I'd also be waiting 20 mins or so for the job to start. Still, all in all, seems like a knowledgeable and trustworthy shop. I'll be coming back here again. read more

I went to Break Force to get second opinion on a quote that I got from another reputable auto repair shop in my neighborhood. My car was not starting, and the other place said I needed to replace my fuel pump because the check valve was stuck in the open position, which was causing fuel to flow back into the gas tank. After taking to my car to Break Force they quickly realized that the inertia switch in the trunk of my car was triggered and quickly reset it saving me hundreds in unnecessary work if I were to take it to the other place. Not only was Break Force honest about the work that needed to be done, David was very personable and seemed to care a lot about the customer and their needs. I went in with all the things I noticed were wrong with my Subaru Impreza. They checked everything out in addition to my asks for free. Of course they found some things wrong with car and fixed them as I initially called out. When I first picked up the car I asked for an oil change as well and they forgot to do the oil change, so they gave me a free one. The main repairs consisted of replacing the front brake pads and rotors. There was an odd noise that popped up after the repair, so I took it back the next day and they took care of everything in addition to some deals moving forward.
