As always, Justin and the crew did an amazing job. They kept it 100 with me and never tried to skip corners. I had some elective work done this time: a PPE transmission pan and full servicing, plus a Baxter oil filter adapter. Unfortunately, PPE doesn't keep the Mojave's altered geometry and frame thickness in mind for their fitment chart because it flat-out doesn't fit. They could have just slapped it on like I asked because it **kind of** fits, but it either requires further machining or altering of the crossover pipe. Beyond that, it now lowers the pan slightly under the frame, which it doesn't do on the standard frame 3.6 pan. However, the flush was great; my truck shifts better than ever and legit feels brand new now. For the Baxter adapter, there's a little casting nodule left over from the factory's casting of the pug manifold; hacking it off is required for some, but not all. They asked me first and did a fantastic job. My oil was fresh--I run Mobil 1 Extended Performance and had less than 3,000 miles on it--so it wasn't about the oil change. It's about swapping the Pentastar's oil filter housing unit from an inferior cartridge-style filter with a twist-on cap (that has very demanding torque specs) to a metal twist-on filter. These are inarguably better, not only for your vehicle but for the environment, as the metal can be scrapped and the inside has less plastic. The difference in early start-up tick due to the dry start is night and day. I'm not in "tick failure," so it was such a quiet start-up that it was kind of shocking. Anyone who says the Baxter is snake oil probably ate Tide Pods, because it was the smoothest, most quiet start-up I've had since owning my truck. They installed it very quickly and charged me incredibly fairly. I can't say enough good things about Brake Force LLC! read more

BY FAR the worst of the worst, got a Call back from them that car repair turned out good paid $415 for an easy fix we were to lazy to fix. The car was running much worse!! Returned car they obviously broke was told it was a easy repair and a very cheap fix, then manager was trying to charge us $600 more for what they broke. Took our car in to get some work done. Price was higher than we were expecting but we needed it done so we paid. A little while later we get another check engine light and take it back. They tell us they should have done more work initially and are sorry but it will require more work to fix. So we pay even more money. A little while later the check engine light comes out again. We decided to go to another mechanic. He takes a look and says the work looks shoddily done. Perhaps intentionally. The new mechanic fixed the issue for a fraction of the price (talking pennies on the dollar compared to Brake Force pricing). We haven't had an issue since. I'm not saying they are intentionally doing bad work to milk you out of more money, but I would strongly recommend getting a second opinion. If you have had work done here, it might be worth having it double checked at a different mechanic to see if the work was done adequately. Good luck! read more

PLEASE DO NOT GO HERE! I just recently got an oil change from another technician after receiving an unwanted oil change from brake force and I was reminded of the nightmare of an experience I had here. They torqued on my oil filter and drain plug, which leads me to believe that the techs here are untrained. I went in for issues with my battery and ended up getting 'needing' an entire replacement of my serpentine belt, a new battery and several small parts. They charged me over 2700 dollars, up-charging me and adding on services at every step. I would have been okay with the oil change and extra needed parts if they just called me but instead they tacked it onto my bill at the end with no explanation other then they 'forgot to call me'. Not only that it took them over 3 weeks to complete the service, claiming they 'forgot my car was here'. How that can even happen is beyond me. Justin the owner was completely unprofessional and made every step of the process as painful as possible, I will never be coming back here and highly recommend you stay clear of this place. read more

AVOID, this shop sells unnecessary services at exorbitant prices. I brought my vehicle in with vibration in my steering wheel when braking especially at high speeds. I asked for brake pads/new rotors. I was also told that pads/rotor showed heat stress and uneven wear and that the calipers should be replaced. The quote was $1360.00. That is quite pricey for a brake job. I picked my car back up and took my car to another business nearby. I got a quote for pads/rotors at $525. And I inquired about the additional cost if Calipers were needed, i was quoted that this would be an extra $200 if necessary. Calipers were in working order as reported by other business. The total was $525.00 for the pads/rotors. After I picked up my vehicle, problem was solved. read more

Charged me for parts that were not installed front and rear sensors $128.65 charged for left rear caliper $212.13 $340.58 total for parts that were not installed. The brake fluid cap was not put back on and fell way down into engine. I went back for sensor issue and they indicated it must be something else. To get the brake fluid cap out they needed to remove several parts. the guy was closing the hood without replacing the parts. I had to tell him to put the parts back. Dishonest! read more

I took my mini converted school bus for a new engine which they assured would be simple and done in 2 weeks. 4 months later, here's what I got: 2 break-ins that they never told me about, one was at gun point! Many items STOLEN - including the coins from large coin jar and it had been peed in!! When I went to check on my bus, they could not find the keys and also several days later I received a parking ticket in the mail. There were men's and women's underwear and clothing that were not mine strew about. Several of my clothes were stolen. My Aunt's ashes were misplaced. Candy, food and empty alcohol containers were everywhere. Clearly someone had been staying in my bus! There are plenty of decent auto repair shops in Tigard, Brake Force is not one of them. After I had made 3 requests to get a complete quote on my classic car brake job and still without having a correct invoice and my permission to do the work , they ordered the parts. By then 3+ weeks had passed where they had told me they'd start on switching out the carburetor and solving the battery drain electrical issue while waiting for special order parts. But nothing had been done and I went to get the vehicle back. They delayed , complained and blamed me for not understanding or trusting them. Finally I agreed to buy the new parts they said couldn't be returned. They then towed my car to a business nearby and left it there. Luckily it was the same day I stopped in to pay. They were cordial when I checked out and that was appreciated. When I checked the parts I bought from them, they were the wrong parts for my car. So now I have $318.82 of parts I can't use on my car. All they had to do was cross reference with the Raybestos website to confirm the parts fit my model and they didn't bother too. read more

Honesty and quality are important to me. I went to Brake Force in July 2017 because of its solid Yelp reviews and spent a fair amount for rear brake caliper and rotor replacement. Justin talked me up in price to doing the full job and I was generally happy with the service and result. Until December 2018. While dropping off our son at school I noticed my left rear brake smoking and a burning smell. I took time off work to return to Brake Force, and Justin offered to cover the repair at no cost, an honorable and appreciated response. After inspecting my car, he upsold me again, this time on also replacing my front brakes. Since I appreciated him covering the rear quality problem, I agreed. During the work he made a comment about how brake fluid accumulates moisture in the lines and needs to be replaced every 2.5 to 3 years. I asked him for clarification (brake lines are a closed non-permeable system), and his answer was unsatisfactory. But I paid my bill and left. I did more research on his humidity claim, found only information that either disputed it or was selling brake repairs. I decided to send him an email asking for clarification. He didn't respond, so a month later I sent a follow up note. He replied a few days later in all caps: "BRAKE FLUID ACTUALLY ACCUMULATES MOISTURE OVER TIME. IT IS RECOMMENDED TO FLUSH YOUR BRAKE SYSTEM EVERY 2 1/2 TO 3 YEARS BY VEHICLE MANUFACTURERS" The same vague comment he had made originally. Not helpful. I checked with Toyota and another expert. There was no recommendation to replace the brake fluid for my car. I replied to Justin again, and shared Toyota's conflicting guidance, with further explanation, and requested further clarification. No response. If I followed every mechanic's fear-mongering recommendations, I would spend far more in preventative maintenance than the cost of repairing problems. We're all busy and working hard. With the major problem, questionable advice and up-selling, I no longer trust the work quality and advice from Brake Force, and won't return. I hope you have better luck with them. Update (6 months later): After investing nearly $1,000 with them, my brake light came on and I discovered the fluid was oddly low. I suspect either they didn't bleed the brakes fully or added a new leak to the system. Update (1 year later): Discovered after my car has been sitting for weeks during this coronavirus that the left rear brake is still messed up, a slow leak, even after spending a lot with these guys to fix the problem they'd previously created. Solidifies my decision to never use this brake shop again. read more

Called a few places and looked online. This place had the best price. I had heard about this place by a few people. So, what the heck! I called - spoke to the manager Justin and thought to call a few other places. I called back and spoke to Alex, made an appointment for Thursday (10/17/19) Dropped my car off at 9:30am - this place truly has very limited parking space. I had to put my double blinkers on and go in to drop off my keys. Alex helped me as soon as I got in - he was extremely friendly and easy to work with. They were a bit behind from the night before and advised he should have my car done by 5p that night. I left and waiting to around 4:30p, called and he stated they were looking at my car currently and he'd be able to tell me how bad my brakes were or if it was bad at all. I had to get my rotors and pads done on my front. Right under $400.00 and because of my patience - I got a bit of a discount on my brake system fluid exchange, which was included in the price above. My car was done by 6p - I've waited a few days to see how my brakes felt and I have not had any issues. They feel well and no sounds. read more

I needed to get my brakes checked because they were squeaking. After about 5 hours of having my car they called and told me I needed new pads, rotors, and calipers. They told me my calipers were melting. They quoted me $820 for everything and it was only for the front of my car. Several people told me that seemed crazy, so I picked up my car to get a second opinion. I went to a much more well known location, and they told me that in fact my breaks were completely fine. All they needed was some lube to avoid the squeaking sound. Brake force took an opportunity to take advantage of me because I am not very knowledgeable with car mechanics. They were supposed to fix the transmission took him over a week he got his car back make that two weeks he got his car back drove it down the freeway not 2 miles away and it broke down again took it back had it again still didn't fix it right broke down again. I am always disappointed when a business quickly puts down another business trying to gain my business. Not very professional. I think the price I paid was reasonable, not a great value but on par with most brake work in Portland. They do offer a $99 brake special, good for you if you paid the price. I just discovered 2 months after my brake job the mechanic apparently forgot to replace the cap over the brake fluid fill container. Not a good thing as the fluid is probably contaminated by water vapor. They get a lot of business, no place to park-but a warning, don't park at the service business next door. Don't think the two owners are fans of one another. I'll probably go back to Les Schwab for my next service. read more

Horrible, Experience! I only used them because my main mechanic shop was slammed! And breaks are very simple, I thought the mechanics they have would be competent enough to replace simple brake rotors and pads, I thought too much of them! They tried to over sell me, and then freaked out over a little corrosion, apparently these boys have never been east of Idaho! My vehicle is a 2019, so not all, I found everyone there to be incompetent, and when I politely called them out on it, they used foul language, which I think is extremely unprofessional, A person should never use foul language with a customer! Overall a horrible experience! I would recommend going with an actual mechanic shop! Sidenote, there is no parking and no space, make sure to check your car afterwards for any potential damage from the nightmare parking! read more

Rating? (see photos) How about a single star and they consider themselves lucky it's a waste of time to seek legal recourse. Let me preface my review by stating - I started my career at a parts store, a number of friends are career dealer mechanics, and I've spent too much of my life turning a wrench. I think you'll note most of the negative reviews come from people who know what they're talking about. That's worth noting. I was traveling with no access to my shop so they were, unfortunately, who I picked to do a job I could easily do myself. I"m also pro-business and don't take negative reviews lightly as it could impact lives and livelihood ie. I don't typically complain even when experience dictates doing so. That said: 1st - They were nice but busy (to be expected), and professional and the prices were good. The guy who inspected & did my brakes - I asked to speak with and he was also nice. Consider that the 'bait' part. 2nd- The 'and switch' part that warranted a single-star manifests from...I paid to have new rotors, pads, brakes bled etc... Fast-forward 3.5 years and perhaps 12k miles - I decided to put new rear shocks on - lucky I did. I'll attach photos of the pads - drivers side rear. That uneven wear can be caused by a few things (all of which should NEVER happen to brakes, ostensibly, that old/new) but looking at other atypical wear points on the brake assembly revealed a few things: It's unlikely rotors were replaced but given the pad and caliper job it's difficult to assess. they're certainly junk parts. The pads, IF they were changed, lets assume they were, they were not installed correctly. There was no anti-seize applied at generally accepted key failure points, pads and 'hardware' (little metal pieces - retaining spring clips) were junk - not stainless or non-metallic so they rusted, because there was no anti-seize put on (that's easy to diagnose postmortem), rust wasn't removed etc. The 'ring' you see in one of the photos - that's the brake piston wearing against the pad - not uncommon but to the degree it was in this time frame - they didn't take a moment to put anti-seize there either (which could be another reason the pads wore unevenly (big no no). Those failures, on both sides, resulted in failure of all components in a few years and normal, no load, driving? Not a chance. There is no way. Oh, lol, I almost forgot - brake bleed caps weren't put back on, little rubber cap to adjust emergency brakes missing (not put back on - they don't just fall off), and rotor retaining screws also missing (these aren't necessary to put back on for a home mechanic - generally speaking but you should put them back on. For a 'professional' being paid to do a brake job? They should NEVER not be re-installed. Never. They simply cut every corner possible to minimize time against 'book time'. In totality, it's amazing to me how bad a job they did do. It's disappointing. Such actions chips away at ones faith in honesty and integrity and, as I alluded to above, they're lucky people don't, if they haven't already, taken legal action against them. Work done was literally that bad. 100% take your vehicle elsewhere. Do I know you'll get better work done somewhere else? No. But, it's literally impossible to get worse. I hope this review is helpful. As I said, I found them nice, friendly, and gave the appearance of being helpful - meanwhile in the service area - what would be considered fraud in any circle is probably taking place often/daily. Sad and inexcusable. If you're not knowledgeable in this area - Brake Force is, literally, banking on that. read more
