Originally it was due to my engine light being on but that issue seems to have fixed itself. So I wanted Shay to do a diagnostic to determine why my Ford Escape battery was draining overnight. He seemed to be stuck on the engine light issue and when I tried to shift to the matter of the power drain the conversation went sideways and he became hostile. He cancelled my appointment, said he now had no openings for Friday and would call me back when he had an opening. If I had any doubt of his ability to service my vehicle I would never have made an appointment in the first place. So I guess I'll stick with Landmark Ford until I can find another reputable mechanic. Communications could have been a lot better.

I was really just looking for honest, intelligent advice -- the kind you often don't get from larger chain shops -- and this place exceeded every expectation. I was incredibly impressed by the passion, transparency, and care they brought to the work. Everything was clearly explained, done efficiently, and priced very fairly. The service was excellent from start to finish, and it was obvious they genuinely care about doing right by their customers. I've already recommended them to friends and family and would absolutely do so again. If you're looking for a trustworthy local shop that treats you like a person instead of a number, this is it.

It has been about six months since I last brought one of my vehicles to JC Motors. I wanted to wait…read morebefore updating my review so I wasn't writing it while irritated. I was a loyal customer for years. Tom and Pat built an incredible shop. They knew their stuff, stood behind their work, treated customers with respect, and earned every bit of the reputation they had. I was genuinely happy for them when they retired. Unfortunately, the shop they left behind just isn't the same. Since the ownership change, I've had one frustrating experience after another, and almost all of them have involved the front office. One visit was for squeaky brakes. They inspected everything and told me my brake pads had plenty of life left and that the caliper design on my vehicle can squeak under light braking. Weird, but okay. I understood, thanked them, and hung up. A few minutes later, I got another call from the supervisor because apparently the first advisor didn't think I understood. I assured him that I did. I understood the explanation the first time. Getting called back just so someone could explain the exact same thing again felt incredibly condescending. Then came the A/C issue. My A/C makes a loud hissing noise through the vents whenever the compressor is running. They found it was low on refrigerant, added dye, and the noise disappeared... for about two days. When it came back, they cleaned a vent actuator even though they admitted it wasn't the problem. Then they told me the noise only happened when the climate control was set to Auto and suggested I just not use Auto. I explained, again, that it happened in Auto, Manual, and Defrost. Basically, anytime the A/C compressor kicked on. Their response? "Then just use Auto." At that point, I realized we weren't having the same conversation. The one person who absolutely deserves recognition is the woman who came outside afterward to talk with me. She listened, understood why I was frustrated, and treated me like a human being instead of someone who needed the same explanation repeated three different ways. She was professional, empathetic, and honestly the only reason this review isn't even lower. JC Motors isn't the shop it used to be. I no longer trust them with my family's vehicles, and I can't recommend them to friends or family anymore. I sincerely hope Tom and Pat are enjoying retirement. They built something special. I just wish that same standard of customer service had survived the ownership change.

DO NOT USE THIS SHOP!…read more Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. Was just given an estimate for nearly $5K in repairs on my daughter's 2017 Nissan Rogue, for BOTH bearing/hub assemblies and BOTH front lower controls arms, and TEN other services. Took it to another shop in Tualatin and was told that ONLY ONE bearing/hub needs repair and the control arms are perfectly fine! $700 out the door. I asked them to double-check and they insisted the car only needs the one repair. This is not the first time that JC Motors has done this. So my first recommendation is FIND ANOTHER SHOP. My second recommendation is GET A SECOND OPINION. My third recommendation is GET A THIRD OPINION. Really a shame when Patience and Sammy left!

The quotes did not separate out the cost of parts from the cost of labor. Their prices were higher than the two other quotes I'd received, but I still got the brakes done there. Customer service at the front desk/on the phone was friendly. They paid for an Uber to bring me back to the shop since their courtesy vehicle wasn't available at that time. When another mechanic reviewed some of the work they recommended, it sounded like they may have been overzealous in their thorough examination/recommendations. For example, the drive belt has the beginnings of a minor crack but it sounds like it's probably not going to be an issue for 20,000 miles. They also asked for a review multiple times after the service. Final answer: They aren't (and don't claim to be) the affordable option, but their service advisors were pleasant and I felt like they didn't try to pressure me into more services once I said no/defer to most recs.

Paul also went the extra mile (well, more like 100 mi) and spent time on the phone with the other shop, their insurance company, etc. He helped convince them that the issue had ACTUALLY been caused by a faulty installation of parts, so in the end insurance covered the cost. I've been a Valvoline customer for years, and I hate to leave a 2-star review because other than…read more"The Issue" this would have easily been a 5-star rating. Quick-lube places seem to always make some kind of mistake, but Valvoline seems to make the fewest. I've consistently received great service at the SE Powell location, which used to be convenient as I worked close by. Now it's the only Valvoline I trust, but it's across town. This review is of the Tualatin location on Nyberg 10/28/23. My pet peeve: when I get my oil changed and the person who checks my tire pressure forgets to put the valve cap back on. I SPECIFICALLY BROUGHT THIS TO THE LEAD TECHNICIAN'S ATTENTION. I told him that I didn't want to be petty, but I hate when I get my oil changed and the service tech forgets to put my valve caps back on. They weren't fancy or expensive, but they were a stocking stuffer gift from my son last Christmas. I asked that they made sure to replace the caps. I know he heard me, because he said he'd added that detail to my customer profile so that I'd never have to ask again, and he shouted to the guy checking the air pressure MAKE SURE THE VALVE CAPS GET PUT BACK ON. The service tech said "Gotcha! I'll make sure!" So imagine my surprise/disgust/anger/disappointment when I get home, park, get out of my truck and notice that I only have THREE valve caps. C'mon Valvoline. The techs were friendly, professional, knowledgeable and thorough. No hard upsell, asked all the right questions. I want to be a Valvoline fan and customer, but this makes it difficult. I know it's such a small detail, but right now I am SO pissed. There's no excuse for this. I specifically and directly addressed this, and it still got still messed it up. *sigh*
