I wanted to give this shop a try due the many great reviews but it was not to be. I called today to change the reason for an appointment scheduled for this Friday. Originally it was due to my engine light being on but that issue seems to have fixed itself. So I wanted Shay to do a diagnostic to determine why my Ford Escape battery was draining overnight. He seemed to be stuck on the engine light issue and when I tried to shift to the matter of the power drain the conversation went sideways and he became hostile. He cancelled my appointment, said he now had no openings for Friday and would call me back when he had an opening. If I had any doubt of his ability to service my vehicle I would never have made an appointment in the first place. So I guess I'll stick with Landmark Ford until I can find another reputable mechanic. Communications could have been a lot better. read more

Called for a rear only brake pad replacement, got quoted 650 to 750. Outrageous I told him I was expecting something around 100 to 150. He told me to call someone else. I went to YouTube got a video, when to the auto parts store and got top of the line ceramic pads and some brake grease. It took me 80 minutes to do the rear axle for 67 $ saving at least 600$. I would say that was going to be a rip off, and the prior yelp reviews must be bogus. read more

I had been given some questionable information about my alternator not operating properly by the tow truck driver who came to recharge my dead battery. I'd been very pleased by the oil change and tune up Tualatin Auto Repair had done in 2020 so I called them a week ago Wednesday. I explained to Chondra what the tow driver said. I also told him I was planning to drive to the beach for a short vacation the following Monday. He told me to bring my 2000 S80 in the following afternoon so he could test the alternator. The next day Chondra gave me the great news that my alternator was performing just as it should. He didn't charge me anything! They had my car for 3 weeks for a tuneup while I was out of town and when I called the day I had arranged to pick up my car, they had not done the oil change. :-/ Very unorganized! I called Tualatin Auto Repair at noon the day after my car started idling funny. Pops (the owner I'm guessing) answered and told me to bring it in same day. The crew got my car in and scanned as soon as I arrived even though they were very busy. Got me a diagnosis in 5 minutes and gave me great advice on the next steps to take, all free of charge. Ultimately I didn't need any work done today, but Pops and the Tualatin Auto Repair team took care of me. Moved from So. California a year ago where I'd had a trusted mechanic for almost 30 years. I didn't know I would find another one so soon. They checked my year-old Jeep Patriot after the drive up to Tualatin, changed my oil, all for a very minimum charge. Worked on a radio issue for two days, ending with a 'Hail Mary' fix that worked, all at no charge. They strive for the very best customer service and do everything possible to fix the problem. Brought my jeep in for a heater core replacement. They fixed it while I went out of the state for work, came back and picked it up. The passenger side air bag closure doesn't close, none of the light in the HVAC module turn on, the blower resistor went out days later, sounds of creaking and such from the dash happen every now and again. I tried to have Chandra and his people fix it for 4 days and they didn't try to fix anything. I just need heat for my two children throughout the winter. I will be going to BBB and more until they realize they are responsible. Update from 1/4/2018. Air bubble sounds and swishing coming from the heater core housing area. Checked the radiator level and it took a gallon or more of coolant. I didn't notice any leaks around the engine compartment area, but I did notice hot coolant coming from the same area as before the repair. read more

Great guys diagnosed a really obscure problem involving the non starting of a friend's Toyota (key was cut by local locksmith, but the locksmith failed to mention the key head has a transponder) no transponder, no start! As the garage was given the original key, of course it started every time, but they asked if a spare had been cut, explained the potential problem, and proved what was wrong. Great thinking outside the box.a couple of other folk had come up with some very unnecessary (and expensive) courses of action they told us were required. Well done Chandra. He now has my Suburban in for some diagnostic work, we'll see how that goes :-) read more

I am the owner of a 2000 Toyota Camry with 150K miles on it. I live in California, and I was given a recommendation by my usual auto repair shop to get several items repaired/replaced: drive belts due to cracking; the PCV Valve due to leaking; and some other items which to be honest they did not say needed to be fixed immediately. I called Tualatin Auto, and set up an appointment with Chandra (I hope I am spelling his name right) for an in-person inspection. Once we met Chandra quickly inspected the recommended repairs and showed me the belts and 'leaking' that supposedly needed to be repaired. Chandra actually TALKED ME OUT of getting the PCV Valve worked on because the leak was very very small had no significant impact on performance. He gave me honest and straightforward advice when I could have been duped into unnecessary repairs. I chose to get the drive belts replaced. I am giving five stars because in addition to saving me money, the cost of replacing the drive belts was exactly in line with estimates I received from other auto shops in the area namely Advanced Automotive of Oregon. In short I received fair, friendly, and most importantly honest service from Tualatin Auto Repair. read more

I have nothing but good things to say about Tualatin Auto Repair and Towing. Chandra and his team are amazing. I took my car in to have the alternator replaced. I knew I wanted a good part so Chandra worked with my budget. Unfortunately they also discovered the ac compressor needed fixing and my read cylinders were bleeding brake fluid. The mechanic actually showed me these things so I didn't feel like I was being duped into more expensive repairs. They were quick at making the repairs and Chandra saved me some money by replacing the belt on the ac compressor rather than replacing the entire compressor itself. All in all, it was as great an experience that made having car problems not feel so horrific. read more

The car A/C didn't work on the hottest day in Portland YTD. It blew warm air. Minor inconvenience, except when you're stuck in rush hour traffic for an hour, just trying to get over the bridge.....a mere 9 miles to my destination. I put the issue on the 100 things to do. Tualatin Auto Repair was excellent to work with: diagnosed the issue, kept me in the loop throughout the appointment while informing me of costs, and finished within record time. What I really appreciated the most was that they treated me respectfully, explained the issue, and were extremely professional. I live in NE Portland but my car died on the freeway going to my friend's house in Tualatin so I needed a good, trustworthy, non-rip-off-mechanic in the area! After reading all the positive reviews I chose Tualatin Auto Repair and I was more than pleased with their service and coming to them I found a good, trustworthy, non-rip-off mechanic. They were very honest about the work that needed to be done and problems my car had. They had to remove some parts to do A diagnosis which was fine and I agreed to- their price was fair- and then when all was said and done and everyone agreed that my car was done for and not worth putting anymore more money into the car to fix it they waived the diagnostic fee and were just going to charge me $50 for the cost of the new spark plugs they put in. I was SO grateful and thankful that I was only going to have to pay for the new spark plugs, I felt that was more than fair and very generous especially since they did more labor and diagnosis on that junker than $50 worth I'm sure. BUT WAIT it gets better.... After I was ready to pay my $50 and talking to them about my story, how I chose them because of the good reviews and I was so pleased with their honesty, friendly demeanor, and family oriented business, they charged me nothing..... Zero dollars! They said my car wasn't worth it and they were thankful I trusted all of the reviews and picked them! They absolutely made my day and I walked out of there smiling...
