I brought both of my cars here for an alignment. It's been a while and I haven't been keeping track of when I should get it done or how many miles it's been. After doing the alignment I can feel the cars driving better now. They are rather busy/booked out for a while so expect to make an appointment 3+ weeks out. No walk ins unless a cancellation? Prices are fair, cheaper than some places and slightly more expensive than others (depending on which shops and which cars). The prices differ depending on what brands and if the car is modified or not. The Acura was $130, the BMW was $200. Sucks that German cars cost more but, anyone with one expects that. As a bonus they noticed a nail in my tire and I took care of that. read more

Great Shop. My 2020 Toyota Prius Prime was exhibiting excessive and uneven rear tire wear, requring full replacement at 20K miles. The recommendation of the tire shop was to get an alignment to fix this issue. I initially took my car to the local Toyota dealer for a full alignment that cost about $180. When the car was done, I looked over the alignment sheet and could see that they had not done any substantive changes to the aligment with several parameters remaining out of spec. When asked what they actually did, I was told these numbers were the best they could do and that my only recourse to to increase my tire rotation frequency. This was a 2020 vehicle with 24K miles that had never been in an accident. Knowing this I thought that a specialty shop would be a better solution. I found Alignment Specialties using Yelp reviews and I was glad I did! Having a fairly popular model car, this group knew of this issue and provided a great solution, and aligment. Brought my Honda element in for an estimate. They did an alignment check and visually inspected my suspension. They gave me an estimate and informed that my vehicle is safe to drive as is, but I plan on making an appointment to have my vehicle serviced as soon as an appointment and parts are available. I will update this review after the works been completed. My Honda is approaching 200,000 miles, it is a well built vehicle and I'd rather invest in proper service than making a car payment on a new vehicle. read more

I cannot say enough about this shop. Bill and his son did an absolute great job on my 2000 Ford Excursion. They installed new leaf springs, shocks, a steering stabilizer, (4) new 8 piston calipers, a new rear sway bar, steering gears, new differential covers, new Warn Premium Locking hubs, Crown Performance brake lines, gave me an alignment, inspected the axles, and added castor shims. I wanted to buy new Dana 60's and they talked me out of it and saved me a ton of money (always ask the experts first), and I am glad they did. They even helped me located a cooling leak that has plagued me for a couple of years. I cannot say enough about this shop and the quality of the work. I have owned a Tesla Model Y for two years, I got an early production model when it just came out. Since then my steering wheel has been off center and I have taken it to Tesla twice to get it fixed. Each time they said it was fixed but the wheel was still off center. Even the blue wheel icon in Autopilot clearly showed it was rotated and off center. I assumed it was some kind of a manufacturing defect and decided to live with it. Recently in a Tesla forum, I saw many people complain about the off center steering wheel and one participant recommended Alignment Specialties. I just got my car back from them (Matt) today and I couldn't be more delighted. The steering wheel is dead center and the slight vibration is pretty much gone. Matt explained that electric drives need more precision than what an automated machine might say is good enough which is what he thinks might have happened with Tesla techs. If possible I will update this review in 30 days but based on this single visit and the 4 mile drive home, I am more than happy to recommend them to Tesla owners. read more

I visited Alignment Specialties on 12/6/2023 to fix the alignment on my 2022 Tacoma after multiple failed attempts from other shops. Instead of adjusting back to factory specifications as other shops did, they re-aligned my truck based on Oregon's heavy road crown, larger tire size and different than factory wheel offset. The staff was very helpful, honest and friendly. I will be coming back for all my alignment needs and would highly recommend them to my friends and family. read more

Tucked away in a hillbilly cove off of TV Highway this place won't win awards for cuteness or charm. The fellow I worked with, Matt, was very informative and detailed in how he explained what was happening with my steering alignment. I was impressed by how well he taught me the nuance of what is commonly a simple procedure. Most importantly it cost me LESS than he quoted! What a joy! Matt told me he quotes the highest amount it would cost and then when most times it's less, our pleasure in saving money is more fun than telling a client they owe more. This is in response to the owner/manager. You got the wrong customer bud. You actually did work on my truck. We never spoke on the phone, this was all face to face at your shop. You explained to me how working on off road suspension is not profitable for you because you have to keep checking your work back and forth. So it's essentially you doing multiple alignments on the same car for the price of one. I offered to pay you whatever the cost of your work was even if you had to look at it a few times. You charged me $140 for it. Your work was good, you pushed my cams out to be positive but your whole attitude and approach towards a customer was bad. We moved out to Beaverton recently and I thought I would try to get service for our camper locally. I just took my 1984 VW Westfalia in to get aligned here and they said it failed their inspection. He told me I needed to replace the upper control arm bushings and upper ball joints. Perfectly reasonable, it's an older van, it happens- the problem is the quote I received: Them: Upper control arm bushings- they quoted 4 @ $68.50- $274.00!! Actual cost to buy locally 4 @ $14.95 -$60.00 Them: Upper ball joints- 2 @ $132.00!! Actual cost to buy locally 2 @ $24.95 -$49.00 They also quoted me 6 hours of labor $507.00!! And finally, the alignment @ $79 Their total estimate was $1124.95, $438 in parts alone. Absolute highway robbery. I immediately called my old mechanic in Portland He quoted me the above prices- $120 for parts and estimated $180 - $225 for labor. At most, a $350 repair job. Alignment Specialties quoted me more than 3 TIMES that amount!! I'm not going to bother to contact him regarding the quote he gave me. I think it's pretty obvious what is happening here. I will be driving my van across town for service. These guys are shady AF. read more

I was referred to Alignment Specialties by my regular auto repair shop, Wally and Son. This was after one of the big tire companies said they could not perform the service. They told me the alignment was too "out of whack" for them to perform. Alignment Specialties was able to do the alignment in less than 45 minutes at a nominal fee. There was nothing wrong with my car. The corporate technician's training was just lacking as he did not know that BMWs have a different alignment scheme. I am so sorry I bought tires from that same big tire company because I have significant tire wear in less than 6 months since they did not put them on properly. The 1 star Reviewer, Charlie Z, is wrong, and should have done his research before posting. "Locally" means nylon ball joints from China if you go to most shops here. AS uses Moog ball joints. Moog sells some stuff that's imported, but their ball joints and other major suspension/steering parts are USA made. Real steel. So who did he ask for advice? Guys who sell or install Nylon ball joints from Hong Kong supplied by Napa, etc? You can get steering done at these places and save a few hundred bucks, and it will last 2 years tops before you are all over the road. I had my car done here 4 years ago, and it's still operates like new. My alignment with one tire set replacement was practically unnecessary and my tire tread wore evenly. Everything is still tight and I drive 200 miles a week all throughout Portland, land of crappy roads. These guys are experts. I recommend them highly. read more

I came in with a 2001 Dodge Dakota, was told that an alignment cant be done cuz the ball joints were shot. It cost 700 to fix it but was told the ball joints would outlast the truck because they were made in the USA. I had the work done. Two years later I get new tires and take it back to get it aligned again. I'm told the ball joints failed and they would not honor the warranty or stand behind their work. Supposedly it failed because I did not lube them up when I did oil changes. There was no mention of maintenance to me that was required and I believe it was a cop out. I really wanted them to stand behind their product and their word, but they did neither and offered to fix it with no discount for 1000$. I said no way can not afford that, and now my rig sits unaligned.. and mostly not driven as I'm wearing out my new tires every time I do. read more

Takes used parts sells them as new beware

They do alternators!! My battery died 3 years into a 6 year warranty. That made me realize there was probably something odd going on with my charging system. The business where I bought my battery (well known with initials L S), replaced the battery but would not test the charging system, even though they said they do that in their paperwork. Alignment Specialties quickly diagnosed my alternator was the issue and knew what would cause the issue I was seeing. My 2005 Mazda Tribute requires tearing apart roughly 1/2 of the front end to get to the alternator, including taking out an axle (really bad design with the alt on the bottom of the engine). They had it done that afternoon and cheaper than the dealership and another local shop. The new alt is a much better part than the stock one that was there before! It's working great! My lights and fan are brighter and stronger than before, I think the alt was going out longer than I realized. I'm glad I went here. I would not have wanted to dig into it like they had to, but it's usual fare for them. Thank you! read more

After using the big alignment/tire chain store in town 3 times for an alignment we took our 2007 Toyota Camry Hybrid, to Alignment Specialties in Aloha and was told that the other shop screwed up the alignment and that was the cause of our 4 new tires to be worn out at 21,000 miles. After Bill, the owner aligned the vehicle there was a night and day difference on how the vehicle handled. It rode like new and the steering wheel was not shaking. Top notch service. Will do business with Alignment Specialties again for sure! After getting new tires put on my 2010 Tacoma, like anyone getting new tires should do, I got it checked for alignment. This was the first time in 50,000 miles I got the alignment checked. The first shop I went to that I will not mention here told me I didn't need an alignment. Upon looking at my old tires I noticed the inside edges of the front tires were worn very badly. I knew something wasn't right. I took the Tacoma in to Alignment Specialties after reading good things about them. They showed me how bad my alignment was and also that my brand new michelins were out of round. This was causing a vibration in my steering wheel. I never even told them about the vibrating steering wheel, they found that on their own. Not only did Alignment Specialties take care of my rig, they thoroughly explained what they were going to do and what I needed to do before they did it. I took my car which had a noticeable pull here to get it fixed. After taking the initial measurements, they gave me several options. I went for the most expensive option they had, since my goal was to get the issue fixed right. After the work was done, I took the car home. There still seemed to be a pull present, but I tried to chalk it up to uneven road surfaces more than anything else. I figured if they test drove it and called it good, then maybe I was just imagining things. After a few days of driving the car further, I realized that the pull was still there, so I called them about this and I was told to bring it back. They re-measured the alignment and charged me, and refused to provide any explanations for the continued pull. The end result was my expenditure of over a hundred dollars for no relief of the original problem. Perhaps if the alignment problem is just simple wear maintenance, you may have no issues with this business, but I'd imagine that you'd get just as good a result from any other shop if that was the case. For issues that go beyond that, I'd suggest more knowledgeable shops. read more

i have had my cars aligned here before. i recently had a new clutch installed so i went in for another alignment. they charged me 55 dollars and when i was driving home i heard my right side rubbing. (this is weird i never rub) when i got home i looked and my right side of my bumper was hanging off and paint is missing. this was a brand new $1000 r32 bumper with 500 dollars of paint work done on it (not even 1 month old) not to mention brand new fender liners that were completely ripped. i am so upset but not good with confrontation, so when i went back to the shop they completely denied any responsibility. yes my car is low but not even close to how low all my friends cars are. they should not have a problem getting low cars on their alignment rack are they not supposed to be specialists? i really love my car it is my pride and joy. i spend so much money keeping it FLAWLESS. it was flawless not a single ding or paint defect. if you are an enthusiast maybe think twice about this place. oh and customer service is not that good. i will not be coming back to alignment specialties on shaw. next time i will be taking before and after pictures and doing a thorough inspection prior to driving off. very sad today. about a thousand dollar mistake going there. read more
