**Cost: $$$ **Seating: The waiting area is very small and so there are only four seats. **Location: It's nestled next to a bunch of other auto type workshops and close to several dealerships in Beaverton. **Service: He was pleasant and explained the issue with my car to me. **Experience: I intended to get my car checked out here some time ago based on the high amount of good reviews. Unfortunately, I had to get car towed here after it shutdown in the middle of the highway. I was thrilled that when I called Vu said he could look at it. It took him about 1hr and 15 minutes to look at my car and diagnose it as having an issue with the fuel pump. He also said something was up with my knock sensor after he saw that the check engine light was on and he checked the code. He quoted me at $450 and said he had to order the fuel pump and that it would be there between 2-4 days. This was a Monday btw. On Wednesday at around 3:25pm, he called and said my car was ready. I went to get it on Thursday at 11:00 am. Vu handed me the keys, an invoice, and said there is a one year warranty on the part. He also told me I was very low on gas, so I immediately went to fill up the tank. Something odd I noticed is that the smell of gasoline in my car and the gas pump stopped at 7 gallons when it normally takes ~11 gallons to fill my tank. Then when I turned my car on, I noticed that the low gas light was still on and that the gas meter didn't move even after putting a significant amount in there. I went back to talk to Vu and he went to go check it out. After about an hour he fixed the issue and so far nothing seems to be out of order. Will update in the future if anything happens. read more

Was looking for a spot in Portland where I could get my Lexus IS 250F oil change on such short notice. My dad was always adamant on putting quality oil in my car so I buy my oil from Costco & filter from Autozone. Apparently it's quite rare to find an auto repair shop here in PDX that will allow you to bring in your own oil & filter - I've literally called around everywhere. I called Vu & was quoted a price. After asking if he was okay with me bringing my own supplies, he had no hesitation & brought the fee down. I arrived to the shop & he took my keys immediately. He responded with "It's going to take 30 minutes, is that okay?". I went to go sit inside & he had my car ready in no time. He also filled up all my tires with air since they were low. So nice to have someone who takes care of you ! After calling around so many shops that were booked out for weeks, I'm happy Vu was able to take me within the same day. I do recommend calling prior, though he's very accommodating & will prioritize you. I'm definitely happy to find an auto shop in the burbs on the west side of the river. Both headlights were out. Vu told me the entire headlight needed to be replaced. It was the only way to replace the lamps. He lied. Headlight set $200 + labor $450. Toyota told me only the lamps needed to be replaced. I can do that myself. Watch out for this guy. Sorry but I need to make a partial apology. It is looking as though Vu was going to replace the entire headlight set with regular rather than the halogen headlights. This would have cost me just $50 more than the $400 I eventually paid to have just the halogen lamps replaced. This would have given me entirely new headlights for only $50 more. If Vu had explained these things it might have helped. Trusting people isn't easy when you don't know enough. In the end it was me who made the mistake. Sorry Vu. read more

Next, I needed work that he couldn't do and he recommended a competitor, who he said he trusted. They, too, took good care of me. To top it off, when I mentioned the challenge of picking up our van from him and driving it over to the other mechanic (because we have only one car and we're in a pandemic), he offered to take it over there for me. Vu is the most honest and trustworthy mechanic I've ever been to! I've lived in a few different states and Vu is seriously my favorite out of all the different mechanics I've seen over the years. I've brought my car to him twice: once to check out my break pads and once to fix an issue with a weird mechanical sound coming from underneath my car. Both times he took a look at my car, explained everything that was going on, explained what I should and shouldn't worry about, and how he could fix it or if it even needed fixing. He's not going to rip you off or make you feel scammed. I really recommend you go to him. I've got a big car trip coming up in a few months and I'm planning on taking my car to Vu before then to get everything checked. read more

Vu's did a fantastic job on my car. They were able to get me in quickly and I appreciated the ride to and from work as I didn't have any transportation. Vu was also extremely nice and strives for perfection. Unfortunately my repair took far longer than expected, but I am sure Vu and his team did everything they could as quickly as possible. I did find out that my car was making a squeaky-like noise when in motion, but I can't be so sure that was pre-repair or post-repair. Overall, I would go back to Vu's to get my car fixed but keeping in mind I might have to get a rental because it could take longer than expected! read more

Vu isn't just a mechanic or someone trying to rip you off. 1-he GENUINELY cares for each customer, and makes that evident, 2-he doesn't over charge, his estimate was about 1/2 of the dealership estimate for my vehicle and 3-he has ethics and integrity. He only charged us for an initial inspection, even though he saw the car twice, because he said "I didn't fix it, so I won't charge you. Please get a second opinion from the dealership, and come back if you'd like." Well yes. I DO want to come back and support a man who is honest with good business practices AND who charges fairly. My neighbor recommended Vu's, she thinks very highly of them. So when I needed some work done that I knew was beyond my abilities, I decided to give him a try. I actually had a few tasks that needed to be done. New rear rotors and pads and my drivers door actuator. The rear brakes I could do, but its dirty and stopping safely is high on my priorities of things a car should do. And after watching a handful YouTube videos of people saying how easy it is and proceeding to curse their way thru the task. Both these tasks were perfect for the test. Brought it in the morning and midmorning it was done. Remote door locks work great and today I took the car for 190 mile ride to take of some business. A great place to take your car in. Had broken lug nuts on my back wheel and couldn't drive my car anywhere until it got fixed. It was problem for me since I needed the car next day for work. Called up Vu's Auto Repair and he said he could see me the next day in the morning. I show up and he took my car right in. He said it might be a little, but after 30 min, everything was done! Still 5 stars! Please see my initial 5-star review below. Recently my check engine light came on. I called Middleton Motors in Hillsboro a couple days ahead and asked if I could bring it in at 4pm on a Friday afternoon. I was told that was not enough time. I was surprised because Middleton Motors has never failed me (see my review for them). I called Aloha Auto Care with the same request and they seemed hesitant and told me they could check the engine, but then I would need to bring the car back another day for repairs. How are they so sure I would need extensive repairs? I called MobilePDX and was told there was a $150 minimum, but if I did repairs, then I would just pay for the repairs. Again, how are they so sure I would need repairs? I didn't want to pay $150 just for a check engine light diagnosis. So then FINALLY, I called Vu. I should've called him from the get-go. I asked if I could bring my car in that SAME DAY at 4:15 in the afternoon and right away he said YES. I brought my car in and Vu did a check engine diagnostic and resolved the issue in literally a minute. I didn't even have time to check in on Yelp! That's how fast he was. You know what it was?! The gas cap was put on incorrectly! Makes sense because I had gotten gas two days prior. Vu showed me the reason for the gap cap misalignment and then twisted it back on. BOOM! Engine check light off! THAT'S ALL THAT WAS NEEDED. No charge. All the other car repair places didn't even want to seem to entertain the idea that it could've been the most simple reason for the check engine light to come on. Thank you, Vu, once again for the excellent customer service. Reliable. Solid. Impressive. Vu will be the first on my list to call next time I have car troubles. No more spending time calling around.
