We have been taking our cars to Vu for over 15 years. Vu is, by far, the most honest, decent, and exceptional mechanic we have ever gone to. Highly recommend Vu's Auto Repair. read more

Recently move to Portland and find this local auto repair that trustworthy and fair price.

I've been bringing all my vehicles to Mr. Vu Tran since my first visit, and there is still nowhere else that I would rather take my cars to. Absolute best value, service, and quality. The only worry I have now is that his business will flourish and I won't be able to fit into his busy schedule. read more

I had a check engine light on and rolled into Vu's. They were able to look at my vehicle straight away and get the issue resolved in a day or two. Their pricing was fair and their quality of work was great. As someone who isn't very knowledgeable about cars, I felt I was in great hands over here. Thanks! read more

Ridiculously overpriced, I received a quote that was overpriced at $800 plus for a oil pressure sensor replacement. Save your time.

Vu is friendly, knowledgeable and can get me in if it's something pretty urgent. He was referred to me by my son and my son's family friend.

So nice and helpful! I called them after hours and they were able to get me in the next day to help me replace my brake light. They were able to get it replaced so quickly and at such a reasonable price! I will definitely come here for any future repairs. read more

I was in town helping with family matters and as I was backing up the drive way I heard a loud bang. I knew that I had just lost my tranny. It was 10 o'clock at night and I lost my daises. I was able to finally get my car towed to #VusAutoRepair where he assessed my sitch and happily informed me that it wasn't my tranny but my front axels were broken, a difference of $1500. and I had my car back the same day. Vu is helpful, honest and kinda funny. I will definitely be taking my Honda back to Vu's Auto Repair read more

I was charged $700 for a serpentine belt change, new water pump and thermostat. It seemed like a lot, but I checked the dealership price and it was $300 lower, so it was a relatively good price. Best thing was, he opened just for me on a Saturday and did the job in a few hours. That saved me a lot of time. read more

No nonsense. Haves me a quote without the usual patter you receive from some auto shops. Work completed and on time as promised. Would definitely take my car there again! read more

**Cost: $$$ **Seating: The waiting area is very small and so there are only four seats. **Location: It's nestled next to a bunch of other auto type workshops and close to several dealerships in Beaverton. **Service: He was pleasant and explained the issue with my car to me. **Experience: I intended to get my car checked out here some time ago based on the high amount of good reviews. Unfortunately, I had to get car towed here after it shutdown in the middle of the highway. I was thrilled that when I called Vu said he could look at it. It took him about 1hr and 15 minutes to look at my car and diagnose it as having an issue with the fuel pump. He also said something was up with my knock sensor after he saw that the check engine light was on and he checked the code. He quoted me at $450 and said he had to order the fuel pump and that it would be there between 2-4 days. This was a Monday btw. On Wednesday at around 3:25pm, he called and said my car was ready. I went to get it on Thursday at 11:00 am. Vu handed me the keys, an invoice, and said there is a one year warranty on the part. He also told me I was very low on gas, so I immediately went to fill up the tank. Something odd I noticed is that the smell of gasoline in my car and the gas pump stopped at 7 gallons when it normally takes ~11 gallons to fill my tank. Then when I turned my car on, I noticed that the low gas light was still on and that the gas meter didn't move even after putting a significant amount in there. I went back to talk to Vu and he went to go check it out. After about an hour he fixed the issue and so far nothing seems to be out of order. Will update in the future if anything happens. read more

Vu's Auto Repair - After I went to pick the car up and filled it up with gas, but it shows low fuel. The bottom is after Vu went to fix it again. - Auto Repair Near Me - Beaverton, Oregon

He got me in same day and fixed my problem in just a couple of hours! I had told him my oil control connector had rodent damage and he soldered it for me at a reasonable price! He also fixed my hood latch for me which was so kind of him! I will be returning to Vu from now on! read more

Be sure to get a written estimate, and insist on a receipt that details parts and labor provided.

Bought a 24 year old car, had all the overdue regular maintenance done here along with switching out multiple parts that were defective or just worn out across three visits. Car runs like new, no issues in months, overall cost less than what the dealership wanted just to switch out the timing belt, got it back within a few hours to a day each time, too. read more

Vu's Auto Repair - Auto Repair Near Me - Beaverton, Oregon

Was looking for a spot in Portland where I could get my Lexus IS 250F oil change on such short notice. My dad was always adamant on putting quality oil in my car so I buy my oil from Costco & filter from Autozone. Apparently it's quite rare to find an auto repair shop here in PDX that will allow you to bring in your own oil & filter - I've literally called around everywhere. I called Vu & was quoted a price. After asking if he was okay with me bringing my own supplies, he had no hesitation & brought the fee down. I arrived to the shop & he took my keys immediately. He responded with "It's going to take 30 minutes, is that okay?". I went to go sit inside & he had my car ready in no time. He also filled up all my tires with air since they were low. So nice to have someone who takes care of you ! After calling around so many shops that were booked out for weeks, I'm happy Vu was able to take me within the same day. I do recommend calling prior, though he's very accommodating & will prioritize you. I'm definitely happy to find an auto shop in the burbs on the west side of the river. Truly happy with his exceptional service. 10/10! read more

Both headlights were out. Vu told me the entire headlight needed to be replaced. It was the only way to replace the lamps. He lied. Headlight set $200 + labor $450. Toyota told me only the lamps needed to be replaced. I can do that myself. Watch out for this guy. Sorry but I need to make a partial apology. It is looking as though Vu was going to replace the entire headlight set with regular rather than the halogen headlights. This would have cost me just $50 more than the $400 I eventually paid to have just the halogen lamps replaced. This would have given me entirely new headlights for only $50 more. If Vu had explained these things it might have helped. Trusting people isn't easy when you don't know enough. In the end it was me who made the mistake. Sorry Vu. read more

Integrity, service, quality cannot be beat. Alternator died mid-commute, in my lapse of judgment I had it towed next door to Beaverton Toyota (literally never again!), Who promptly quoted me $5000 worth of repairs. Vu went over, grabbed the car off of their lot and fixed it for the fraction of the quote. Love the no-nonsense, friendly, high-quality service. Also super fast. read more

Very honest. Good value. Mr Vu will tell you plainly and bluntly what the issue is. I appreciate his work and his direct manner. As for the low rated reviews about him being rude...Grow up. He's here to fix your car and not hold your hand and be your best friend. Highly recommend him. read more

I brought in my car this week since my check engine light came on. He said he was busy this week, but he checked my car to see what was wrong. He told me It's most likely that I needed an oil change and reset the engine light for me. He was very honest and he didn't even charge me! It's hard to find honest mechanics these days. I live 5 minutes away, so I will definitely start coming to see him for any car issues! read more

We needed a new mechanic and discovered Vu's hereon Yelp. I am so grateful to have followed the high praise. My experience with Vu was by far the best I have had in nearly three decades of driving. First, he was honest. I asked him to look at something specific, and that's precisely what he did. Then he fixed it. His fees were even lower than other mechanics we've used. Next, I needed work that he couldn't do and he recommended a competitor, who he said he trusted. They, too, took good care of me. To top it off, when I mentioned the challenge of picking up our van from him and driving it over to the other mechanic (because we have only one car and we're in a pandemic), he offered to take it over there for me. When I asked him how I would pay him for his work, he said he trusted me to come back and pay after I picked up the van from the other mechanic. He did great work, too. Our van is in great shape. Never before have I found a mechanic like this. Vu is the king. read more

My husband took our car to another shop and was told repairs would probably cost almost $4k. It seemed way off for what we were expecting, so after a couple months of panicking we got a second opinion here. All necessary repairs were finished for less than $700. It's been running great ever since! read more

Got the Serp Belt and AC Belt changed by Vu at a very reasonable rate and in a very timely fashion. Will Take my vehicles here in the future

Vu is the most honest and trustworthy mechanic I've ever been to! I've lived in a few different states and Vu is seriously my favorite out of all the different mechanics I've seen over the years. I've brought my car to him twice: once to check out my break pads and once to fix an issue with a weird mechanical sound coming from underneath my car. Both times he took a look at my car, explained everything that was going on, explained what I should and shouldn't worry about, and how he could fix it or if it even needed fixing. He's not going to rip you off or make you feel scammed. I really recommend you go to him. I've got a big car trip coming up in a few months and I'm planning on taking my car to Vu before then to get everything checked. read more

Been using Vu for awhile now. He is great! Very accommodating, he does what is needed without adding extra expenses to the job. He is m go to mechanic. read more

Vu went out of his way to make sure my A/C is working properly. Other auto repair shop would have made excuses and try to get more money out of me. His price is competitive to other shop within the area. I will use him again in the future. read more

Vu is the man! He gives it to you straight and doesn't deal with all the BS of trying to upsell. I brought my car in for a rotor replacement and was quoted ~20% less than the nearby competitors. Will be a returning customers from now on. read more

Needed a new Outside Door Latch as it completely Busted off when it was Freezing outside so I called around and got Quotes as Vu was the best quote out there and I new that I could count on him as I have used his services before. Vu's did a fantastic job on my car. They were able to get me in quickly and I appreciated the ride to and from work as I didn't have any transportation. Vu was also extremely nice and strives for perfection. Unfortunately my repair took far longer than expected, but I am sure Vu and his team did everything they could as quickly as possible. I did find out that my car was making a squeaky-like noise when in motion, but I can't be so sure that was pre-repair or post-repair. Overall, I would go back to Vu's to get my car fixed but keeping in mind I might have to get a rental because it could take longer than expected! read more

I had some issues with my breaks grinding, scheduled an appointment with Vu in the A.M. Vu right away diagnosed the issue and by the afternoon had the break pads fixed and ready to go at a extremely fair and reasonable rate! - super hospitable and to the point no up selling or nothing, just a genuine guy with knowledge in the field, would definitely recommend! read more

My car brakes needed replacement. As a young woman, going into an auto repair shop can be intimidating and frustrating, especially because there's the fear of being scammed/taken advantage of. I did not feel that way at all visiting this establishment. Vu not only got me in super quickly, but the price I paid was extremely fair and reasonable! (I got quoted TWICE the amount at green drop garage in NW Portland). Super accommodating, and got the job done fast. And, when my car was stolen a few weeks later and I needed the receipt of the brake replacement (to be reimbursed by insurance), Vu sent a picture over to me right away. Great service, great individual. I would recommend Vu's to anyone and everyone! read more

Vu is the BEST! I have a 4runner and BMW and he's looked at both cars. Highly recommend and trust. Won't go anywhere else.

So far. So 5 Star. Vu isn't just a mechanic or someone trying to rip you off. 1-he GENUINELY cares for each customer, and makes that evident, 2-he doesn't over charge, his estimate was about 1/2 of the dealership estimate for my vehicle and 3-he has ethics and integrity. He only charged us for an initial inspection, even though he saw the car twice, because he said "I didn't fix it, so I won't charge you. Please get a second opinion from the dealership, and come back if you'd like." Well yes. I DO want to come back and support a man who is honest with good business practices AND who charges fairly. I am SO happy to finally have a diagnosis (which Vu was right about in the first place,) and get him to fix it in a few short days. (will update more then!) read more

Vu is the man. Friendly & honest mechanic I've ever met since moving here. Took care of my check engine light and my car runs much smoother now. Glad I have a reliable place to get work done going forward! Thanks Vu read more

My neighbor recommended Vu's, she thinks very highly of them. So when I needed some work done that I knew was beyond my abilities, I decided to give him a try. I actually had a few tasks that needed to be done. New rear rotors and pads and my drivers door actuator. The rear brakes I could do, but its dirty and stopping safely is high on my priorities of things a car should do. And after watching a handful YouTube videos of people saying how easy it is and proceeding to curse their way thru the task. Both these tasks were perfect for the test. Brought it in the morning and midmorning it was done. Remote door locks work great and today I took the car for 190 mile ride to take of some business. Car works great, I'm super satisfied with his work and will be back again. Thank you Mr Vu. About my reviews, most of my reviews are either great places or places from hell. In this instance Mr Vu is one of those great places read more

A great place to take your car in. Had broken lug nuts on my back wheel and couldn't drive my car anywhere until it got fixed. It was problem for me since I needed the car next day for work. Called up Vu's Auto Repair and he said he could see me the next day in the morning. I show up and he took my car right in. He said it might be a little, but after 30 min, everything was done! Price was fair and he even tightened my belt for me for free!! Amazing service and wasn't scammed with the price. Would definitely recommend to a friend or family member! read more

Still 5 stars! Please see my initial 5-star review below. Recently my check engine light came on. I called Middleton Motors in Hillsboro a couple days ahead and asked if I could bring it in at 4pm on a Friday afternoon. I was told that was not enough time. I was surprised because Middleton Motors has never failed me (see my review for them). I called Aloha Auto Care with the same request and they seemed hesitant and told me they could check the engine, but then I would need to bring the car back another day for repairs. How are they so sure I would need extensive repairs? I called MobilePDX and was told there was a $150 minimum, but if I did repairs, then I would just pay for the repairs. Again, how are they so sure I would need repairs? I didn't want to pay $150 just for a check engine light diagnosis. So then FINALLY, I called Vu. I should've called him from the get-go. I asked if I could bring my car in that SAME DAY at 4:15 in the afternoon and right away he said YES. I brought my car in and Vu did a check engine diagnostic and resolved the issue in literally a minute. I didn't even have time to check in on Yelp! That's how fast he was. You know what it was?! The gas cap was put on incorrectly! Makes sense because I had gotten gas two days prior. Vu showed me the reason for the gap cap misalignment and then twisted it back on. BOOM! Engine check light off! THAT'S ALL THAT WAS NEEDED. No charge. All the other car repair places didn't even want to seem to entertain the idea that it could've been the most simple reason for the check engine light to come on. Thank you, Vu, once again for the excellent customer service. Reliable. Solid. Impressive. Vu will be the first on my list to call next time I have car troubles. No more spending time calling around. I'm so afraid these positive reviews are going to make him too busy, but giving him kudos is the right thing to do. read more
