Salvador is beyond amazing. He came highly recommended by many in my community, so when my car had issues he was the first (and only) mechanic I called. He was between locations, and had a lot going on to move into his new space, but still found time to come out to my house to look at my car. He diagnosed the issue, and actually recommended I not put the necessary money into the fixes because it would cost too much to bandaid it, and given the severity of the issues it would likely get worse in the near future. It was so refreshing to get guidance from a mechanic that was so honest. He turned down the opportunity for money because he knew it wasn't a long term fix, and I am so grateful I didn't throw money into a dying car. Thank you Sal for helping out a new girl in town! Like most of us, I was seeking a mechanic in a panic because of an unfamiliar noise under the hood just 3 months after moving to Oregon. That is the last thing I need with the move. Googled this place since it showed it was near my apt. Saw it had a few positive yelp reviews. ...Well I'm glad I trusted the yelp feedback! Left a message and got a call the same day from Sal the owner with great flexibility on days he could see me. I say this because I'M the one unsure of when I could take time off from work. Brought my 2005 Toyota Camry in, first thing I noticed was a clean shop and some neat classic cars pieces displayed. Met with Saul and I told him about the rattling noises and shaking as best as I could. Cars and I just dont understand each other. He went over a list with PM service I should be doing regularly to try and get to the bottom of the problem. After close inspection, turns out my alternator was the bad guy. Good thing this place helps with these type of repairs and not only transmission type as I had the impression of. I picked up my car the next day and knew it was a good decision to go there. Its obvious they truly take pride in service because they left my car smooth and noises? What noises? :) Not embarrassed to pull up next to someone anymore with that rattle!! I rarely have a good experience at an auto shop. However, the other weekend my car backfired and the check engine light started blinking...not a good sign. I immediately started stressing out about what could be wrong with my car and how much it was going to cost me, and how i needed my car for work and how was I going to get this fixed on a saturday....you get the idea. So i went on yelp and used their "open now" feature and found that this is one of the only places actually open on a Saturday. They close at 1 pm on saturday and my crisis started at 11 am so by the time i got over there I wasn't sure if they'd be able to help me out since it was almost closing time. Sal was there and took care of me. He found out it was just my spark plugs and some wires that needed to be changed. Since it was Saturday he went and got the parts himself and stayed open an extra few hours so i could get my car back the same day!!! He was honest and hard working and i was able to get to work on Monday because of it. Also, I was not charged for the initial inspection either, the last place I went charged me a $100 just to look at my car! I'm new in town and a good mechanic is important to me, i'll be going back to Sal next time I need some auto repair. read more

One of my quests whenever moving to a new location (just moved to Sherwood a few months ago) is to find a solid, honest mechanic. With Sal and Vince's I can check off that box as "mission accomplished!" What I found there was a clean, well organized shop, professional staff, and quality work. I brought my car in for a repair that I would have gladly paid $100 for. After Sal fixed it (in about 10 minutes) he smiled and said, "No charge." How cool is that! I have to say that these guys brought light to a very cloudy day! My car wouldn't start this morning, so while I was waiting for AAA to come, I started looking for auto repair shops on yelp. I was impressed by what people had said about Sal & Vince's, so I called them up to see if they had any availability. The owner was so nice and gave me a time that he worked me into their schedule. AAA was able to get my car started but S & V agreed to still look over my car. They were full of knowledge & impeccable customer service. They took a good amount of time looking over my car, looking up info for me and helping give me some really good advice about what to do. They didn't charge me any fee for this! I gave them a call when my 95 toyota corolla didn't pass emissions. To be fair it was really close on the test and I'm clueless when it comes to cars. All I know is that my tags are expiring and I needed to pass emissions in order to get new ones! So I was in panic mode. DEQ of course gave me a pamphlet list of mechanics I could go to, but I'm all about supporting local businesses so I went on yelp!! I gave them a call and they picked up right away. Told them my problem and they said I just needed to drive it around more before testing. I thought, that's it? I kinda wanted them to actually do something haha. Anyway I really don't drive around a lot so I just quickly blurted out, where can I go for 30 minutes? They handled me very professionally and suggested driving to Newburg and back. Based on that they were very professional, knowledgeable and honest. They didn't even have to look at my car to see what was wrong with it! For me not knowing anything they could have easily had me come in and tell me it's something else and charge me for something I didn't need. Anyway I went with their advice and it passed!! when I really do have problems with my car I'll make sure to keep them in mind. read more

Sal is honest, does outstanding work and does it at a fair price. Unfortunately my review is different from the others. Sal seemed like a nice guy. But I was having problems with the alternator within a mile after leaving the shop. Took it back, he couldn't find anything. Drove it home, the next time that I drove it the alternator burned up, towed it back to Sal's, he allegedly fixed it. Took it home ran Ok for a couple days and then wouldn't start. I tried calling Sal for 2 days...no answer, voicemail full. So I had to pay another mechanic who actually fixed it. Now it runs great no thanks to Sal. read more

Thank you Sal. As another small business owner in Sherwood it has always been importand to us "to keep it local". We took a 1994 Jeep that we had just purchased to Sal because the heat system was not working properly. Big problem in the rain!! This review is long overdue, but I still feel it deserves to be written. I went here to get work done to my car before going on a road trip. I called two places, one in Newberg, and Sal & Vince's. This place was significantly more affordable for the expected services and I was told my car would be diagnosed for free as opposed to a $50 fee in Newberg. More work needed to be done than I originally had expected but Sal communicated everything very well and I felt I was getting my money's worth in repairs. Overall great experience, I'll definitely be back for future repairs. Car ran smoothly and felt brand new after I got it back! Thanks guys! read more

I was out at the DEQ today getting my son-in-law's car certified. There was a problem with the OBD2, so it couldn't be certified. I was at the DEQ and my truck failed the inspection. I called around and people were trying to charge me like a hundred dollars just for a diagnosis. Just by luck of an internet search I found Sal and Vince's Automotive and Transmission. Sal told me to come on down and he would do a FREE diagnosis, then we would seee what options were available. It turns out that I didn't have a major problem as I had feared. I was simply a plastic hose that had a hole melted in it from the engine. It took about two hours of work to fix the problem, clean my air intake system and adjust my fuel-air ratio. All for just $50!! I passed the DEQ with ease and they helped me save a lot of money.
