On the 14th, I took my 1997 Mitsubishi Eclipse to the Brake Team shop, located on 12035 SW Pacific Highway in Tigard, Oregon 97223. The purpose for taking my car in was to have the check engine light fixed because it was on. I left my car there overnight and I went back the next day, the 15th to pick it up. That same day, I left my 1995 Ford Explorer because it too had the check engine light on. When I picked up the Eclipse on the 15th, I was told that the car was fixed, but after driving it for less than 30 miles, the light came back on. I called Brake company Team on the 16th to alert them of the problem, but I was told that the store did not have the right tool needed to find out what was the matter with my car. I was told to wait for a phone call from the store, letting me know when the tool arrived. On the 17th, I went to pick up the Explorer, but the light was still on. The manager told me that they still did not have the tool to fix the either the Explorer or the Eclipse, and he asked me to wait. However, after a week of not receiving a call, I went back to the store, and I was told that if I was dissatisfied with their service I could just go somewhere else. This is after they had already charged me $474.07 for the Eclipse, and $272.67 for the Explorer. I was charged a total of $746.74, and both of my cars still have the same technical issue for which I sought their services in the first place. Later, when I went to pick up my Explorer, I spoke with the manager and asked for a refund, because they engaged in unauthorized maintenance to my vehicle, and charged me for those services without fixing the problem that I had asked them to fix. The manager refused to listen to my complaint, and simply told me to call a phone number on a card he gave me because he did not have the time to listen to me, since according to him I did not understand how mechanics work. I have a witness to attest to this negative treatment. This is why I disputed the second payment of $270 some dollars with my bank, and was able to recover that payment through my bank. Of the remaining almost $475, I am requesting a reimbursement of $100.00, which is an overcharge for the services provided. They are only entitled to $375, which covers the brake services for the Eclipse , and for the change of spark plug wires on both vehicles. read more

Just left Brake Force for the last time! In the past (pre Justin) I have been pleased with their work. Now that Justin is the "shop manager" the place sucks! I have been lied to, overcharged and very disrespected by Justin. Less than a month ago I needed to have my plugs replaced (according to Justin). Of course, he failed to show me the supposed worn plugs. Huh? My vehicle has 47k miles. I have checked with other mechanics in the area only to find out that if the plugs were fouled it couldn't be more than just a little in which case the proper thing to do is to blow them out and clean them out. Instead I was charged $188 for parts and labor. And if that wasn't bad enough; not even a month later my car started misfiring so I took it back. They put the wrong plugs in!!! So, I insisted that they replace the wrong plugs with the plugs approved by the factory. This time they actually charged me $86 for the correct plugs. The plugs that should have been installed in the first place. I paid the $86 with an in store credit for being over charged before; leaving a credit of $114. I was just told by Justin that I can take that in store credit and shove it up my as$! (Nice way to talk to a customer!) Oh; and then he said, "Get the Fu@k out of my store!" Bottom line... Purposefully deceitful, Agreed to buy a factory rebuilt transmission from Brake Force. Took them four days longer than expected to fix always with the excuse of "the rebuilt transmission has not arrived yet" When we picked the car up they could not produce any warrantee papers, and called Juan the owner to explain that they never purchased a rebuilt transmission and fixed it themselves, but offered us an in store warrantee even though we were visiting from out of state. By the time we arrived home the car was barely drivable. When we called Justin to honor the warrantee the only thing he would say was "let me call you back." The professional transmission repair shop stated "the only ethical thing to do is buy a factory rebuilt transmission, because Justin lied to me on the phone, they painted your transmission and the only reason they would do that is to deceive you. They also never reset your cars computer and any competent mechanic would know to do that. It would be unethical to try to fix something after this kind of work was done." Four months later and still waiting for Justin to call back and honor his warrantee. I will gladly change my review if he does. read more

I had a radiator from Firestone, the radiator busted after less than one year. When I noticed some problems with coolant leaking I took it to brakeforce and they identified it was the radiator. Since I had it under warranty for Firestone I figured they would replace it at no cost. I was wrong, they did the part for free but the labor cost more than any amount of labor should cost. Still free part = savings right? No, instead I ended up with a new radiator with overpriced labor that still leaked. It took 4 trips to the Firestone shop to eventually get them to shrug at me and say they don't know but if I leave it with them for a weekend they'll figure it out. So I took it back to Brakeforce, it took them less than a single day to notice that the new hose this Firestone put on had a problem still. They replaced it immediately and charged me fairly for the part. I could have saved myself a huge headache, time and money if I had just done the entire part replacement with Brakeforce's experts. I won't make the mistake of going anywhere else ever again. read more

I went to Brake Force in the spring of 2019 to have my front brakes done and they did a good job at a good price that was lower than what other shops charge that also specialize in brakes. Given my positive experience with them, I had the manager Justin look at a long running problem I had with my 2004 Sienna which was that the door hinge check-pocket had broken away from the door frame. This is a notorious problem on Siennas and a design/manufacturing defect as far as I and many online reviewers are concerned. I had already gone to a number of garages and body shops in the area to see what it would cost to have it fixed. Most places I went to for help told me that it was beyond their know-how to fix and two places told me it would cost $1500. Justin at Brake Force had the problem fixed and charged me a small fraction of that cost. I have not had a problem with the door since. These guys seem to run a competent shop and charge fairly. read more

I was on my way to work this morning and had a feeling that the noise coming from my front axle could make for a bad morning. I called Brake Force (first time customer) and explained the noise and that I knew I was due for front brakes soon but that the noise sounded worse. They took over everything from there without making me feel or think that anything extra was going to be tacked on and that while checking the brakes they would do a full sweep of the front and rear ends to check for anything else that looked bad. (not an extra diagnostics test) They got me right in this morning and after finding out that the front end was not too trusting and that I was going to be traveling 300 miles the next day made sure it was done same day. This caused the shop to work 40 min past closing AND come pick me up because I did not have a way to pick up the truck. I was very impressed with the service and will be back. read more

I took my Kia minivan to Brake Force earlier this year and they did a great job on it. The prices were very fair and their customer service went far beyond what I am used to. They called before doing any repairs that hadn't been agreed upon previously and they sent pictures when I asked, or when they thought it would help me better understand what they were saying. Today, they squeezed in helping me replace my headlights on my Kia sedan, even though they were really busy. They worked around my schedule and helped me be able to afford the total cost to fix the car, and were really sensitive to my financial situation. The manager exhibited predatory behavior. He said I love you to me when I was saying it to my dad on the phone. He asked questions like, "what would it take to be your best, best friend?" The service was inappropriate, the manager made me feel so uncomfortable. It also took them 5 hours to change 3 things, pair of shoes, brake wheel cylinder, and rear drums. We've found Brake Force staff to be friendly and helpful. On two separate occasions they have given us free fixes which we really appreciated. They diagnosed the issue with our car quickly and answered all our questions. Other mechanics will charge a lot up front - about $100 just for diagnosis of a problem, but here we found people eager to help us get on our way. Break Force diagnosed a brake failure on my SUV that turned out to be covered under the vehicle's extended warranty but the work had to be done at the dealership. Took my truck here for a second look after I was told I needed new breaks and rotors. I changed the rotors not too long ago so I was skeptical about the first diagnosis I received.
