To give this place one star is to give them too much credit. My experience started back around the beginning of this year (2015), when I took my vehicle in for regular maintenance (i.e. pads, rotor resurface, etc). Of course upon taking my 2 year old vehicle into this location for regular maintenance, I was told I needed almost $500 in work done. I reluctantly agreed to letting them do the work. A few months later I bought new tires from discount tires (btw-great company in my experience) and upon pulling my old tires, the young man asked me to come outside to look at my axel and a broken part. He also pointed out that the incident had been "covered up" by pushing a cap back on an over tightened nut. I told him about the work I had done a few months prior, and he said it was most certainly those folks that had to be at fault, especially since I hadn't had any other work done. I called brake check and they asked me to bring it in. I did. After him hawing around about "we aren't admitting guilt to this, but it might have been us", etc. I basically had to make them fix it. I remember walking up behind them in the shop while they were looking at it and whispering "I could just tell him..." I had to remind them that I had no other work done. Flash forward 6 weeks - brakes are squeaking again, and since that $475 in work that was done earlier in the year was still under warranty, I decided to take the truck back (FYI - this is one way they get you coming back, along with their constant television advertising). When I arrived and the guys at brake check looked at the vehicle, they noticed that their replaced part was leaking, so I told them to replace it under warranty, but they also wanted to do +-$350 in additional work (this is another way they get you. You will never get out the door only completing warranty work. They ALWAYS find something else). I told them politely that I wouldn't be doing the additional work and to only fix the part under warranty. They told me it would take around an hour, so I left it with them. It ended up taking them 4 days to replace one part. During this (4) days, the communication was terrible. I had to call them to request updates EACH AND EVERY TIME. They made every excuse in the book to explain how "it wasn't their fault the car wasn't ready." They blamed their suppliers over and over again, and never once apologized to me (customer), or offered me anything to make the issue right, until of course I brought it up. And then, and only then, I was offered a small discount to allow them to keep my vehicle even longer and complete a lot of work that I found out later isn't even necessary. At the end of the day, I finally got my vehicle back and needless to say I wasn't happy. While getting my receipt, I was prompted to answer "would you recommend brake check to friends and family?". I obviously selected "no", and the "corporate director" (fancy title for an apparent ex-mechanic that climbed the ladder internally with ZERO business sense) who was there told me he'd call to try to rectify the situation. He never called! But, in his defense, he likely realized how terribly I'd been treated and figured I wouldn't be back anyways. If this was his thinking, he would have been correct. This place is unbelievably bad, but will continue to get business in my mind for of two reasons-1. Constant advertising and 2. Location (they typically invest in visible booming areas). PLEASE, DO NOT VISIT THIS PLACE. FYI - Garrett (old director) quit working for these guys. He was a respectable person. read more

Oil change was quick and at a very reasonable price with a coupon for first-time customers. The waiting room was clean, and there was coffee to drink and today's newspaper to read. The technicians were nice and respectful. They told me I also needed an air filter and wheel alignment, but I passed on both for now, at least. I know my husband will want to check those himself. The techs didn't try to pressure me into getting the extra work done, which I appreciated. read more

After 4 months of writing my initial review which listed several issues I had with my experience which included being lied to, I have yet to hear from a manager, despite being promised a call the very next day. I'm not the least bit surprised by this as it is right in line with the service I received in store, I figured it would be worth noting. Went in for an oil change and alignment (I have a lifetime alignment with them) on a Monday. I was told that the bushings needed to be replaced on one of my wheels, and that it would take 30 minutes to an hour, and would cost $150. So, I made an appointment for Wednesday at 12:30PM. I get there at 12:30PM, and an hour later, I'm told (by the same manager that I spoke to on Monday) that the bushings will keep going bad unless I replace the leaking rack. He never mentioned that on Monday. He also didn't mention on Monday that replacing the rack is $1,200! I told him to just replace the bushings (I wanted a 2nd opinion and quote before I spend that kind of money). An hour later he tells me that it's going to be a couple more hours because the bushings are at "one of our south stores." Why didn't he order the bushings on Monday when I made the appointment???? And why didn't he tell me that he didn't have the bushings when I arrived at 12:30PM? I would have made arrangements to have someone pick me up. Then he says that once he gets the parts it will take an hour and a half (Monday, he told me 30 minutes to an hour). I drove out of there at 4:45PM. read more

Passing through on a cross country biz trip the expensive work vehicle I was driving needed a routine oil change. This area has so many other oil change joints, but I like to support local businesses, so I chose this Tx. original. I had a business meeting nearby also, so this location, I thought, would work out perfectly. I informed of the fact of my mid afternoon business meeting to the multitude of gents standing around killing time, ahead of time. They all reassured me that yes, mine would be the next vehicle worked upon, and all work would be done in 15-20 minutes. Great. Pulled the auto out front, turned in the keys, grabbed a complimentary cup of java, and watched the local weather. 10 minutes went by, with the car's still parked out front. Got up to make my anxious self seen through the glass in the garage. While up I read some of the posted certificates touting how they also utilize local vo- tech students. Admirable I thought, but not at the expense of customer's schedules. Plus these lazy fellas were all way past high school age. Needless to say, had to knock on the window to get the manager's attention and an hour later, the car is just getting down off the lift. While I chatted with others who showed up in the waiting area after me, I learned it's quite typical for this particular location, and they all pretty much just bring reading material for the wait. Ridiculous. We tried to call the H.Q. over the next couple of weeks, (as they stripped my oil nut also,) leaving several messages with secretaries, and on the voice mails, to no avail, as they never call back. They should have paid me for that, and for my time. Not to complain too much, but in case ya were wondering, yes, I had to re-schedule my meeting also. Horrible customer service. read more

I have gone there several times and never had a problem. In fact, if anything they did more than I asked for and were always great, polite, and professional to me. I drive from Wells Branch to go here because I trust them. It's convenient since it's across from PetSmart, Target, etc., and they have wi-fi so I can work in the waiting area at the internet bar counter if I need to while I wait. I wish i could put a zero here. I needed a new pad on one of my brakes. Brake check's "system" chose a brake that was aftermarket...and did not fit perfectly. Yes the brake pad must fit perfectly for your brakes to function as they should. The brakes were not the right size and were rubbing on the vents of the rotor. The brakes were also causing a banging noise when braking only......I could hear the rubbing as a loud road noise. I took it back to brake check to give them the opportunity to "brake check does it right" they told me it was a cv joint and not the brakes. I took my car to the dealership because the banging only when i braked was getting worse. They said the brakes did not fit properly and was causing the banging. Brake check won't even give me a refund for the brakes when I brought them back even though they are warrantied for 12,000 miles. they woudn't even replace them even though they are warrantied for 12000 miles. Don't go here....its not worth it. And new management here is not better. read more

I had my brake fluid flushed a week ago today and since then my brakes have been making a clunking noise. I am taking my car back to them this morning to see what they tell me but based on previous reviews on this site, I am very fearful that they may have caused this as my car was at the dealership not more than a few days before this brake fluid flush and even the dealer told me there was nothing wrong with my car so I'm very scared that Brake Check may have caused whatever is going on but I am going to try to keep an open mind and allow them to tell me what they find. I will update this review after this visit this morning *****update****** I have just returned from this shop this morning and I have to say I feel better about my previous experience. Garrett, the shop manager (not his official title, but since I can't remember what that title is I'm guessing) took the time to have the wheels removed and showed me where most likely the noise i was experiencing was coming from. Additionally, after making the initial observations, also showed me where the trailing arm bushings on the rear of my vehicle were worn. Additionally, we also looked at the engine mounts which can also make this type of clunking noise while braking and found some of my engine mounts worn. Garrett then had me drive the vehicle down the street to see if I could recreate the noise. Initially I was able to although it was ever so slight as compared to when I brought it in, but upon another test drive with Garrett in the car, it did not recreate and it has not yet recreated since leaving the shop so I have to assume the issue was resolved with adjusting the rear brakes although I will still pay attention for any recurrence of this noise. At the end of the day, I am adjusting my previous rating to 4 stars as I do believe Garrett is making a difference at this shop. We discussed the previous reviews and the tech named "Juan" who is referenced in some of these reviews as well. Juan is no longer with the company and Garrett assures me they are working to ensure the techs are doing the right thing and has no problem letting go of anyone he finds being dishonest with customers. read more

Would give them 0 stars if I could. Took my 2001 Mustang in with 95k miles in 2013 for new brakes. They asked me what "the symptoms" were. There were no symptoms, but I figured after 95k miles it was just a good idea. Afterwards my car never coasted like it used to. - Being a stick shift it should coast with the clutch in or when it's in neutral. Obviously I don't drive this car much with such low mileage for its age. After a couple of months I called Brake Check with this issue and they said there was nothing they could do. My MPG now really sux. DON'T GO TO THIS PLACE. They didn't even want to correct the problem. It's like driving with the brake on at all times! read more

RUN AWAY FROM THIS CAR SHOP!!!! DON'T EVER THINK ABOUT STOPPING... SCENE 1 : I brought my Sienna for wheel alignment bec it pulls to the left. After adjustments made, they test drove my van and I was given a "thumbs up". Their "chief mechanic" (who doesn't closely looked like a certified one) assured me that it was aligned. But the moment I pulled my van out, IT STILL PULLS TO THE LEFT. I called them about the situation, and that I cannot bring the van back since I use it to work on that day, that I will bring it back 2 days after. The staff told me to bring whenever I'm available. SCENE 2 : So I brought back the van 2 days after. I told the guy who approached me about the situation: that the van's initial problem was not fixed. He told me that they will align it again, but I have to pay a new charge bec I DID NOT OPT FOR A $136+ WARRANTY..WHAT????. I told this guy that the problem I paid 2 days prior was not fixed. So he pulled the van in and tweaked the tire again, test drove it around. Pulled the van to the shop again, tweaked it again and test drove the second time. Now this time, their "head mechanic" (who doesn't looked like a certified one), parked the van in front of me, wife and son, and RUDELY handed me the key with this very words; "IT IS NOT FIXED". I respectfully asked him on what meant about "It is not fixed". His words again, in a very rude manner while walking away from us were - "IT IS NOT FIXED. NOW IT PULLS TO THE RIGHT. YOUR TIRES ARE BAD!!!""" I just the tires a year ago. I just looked to the heavens and prayed that these people will receive grace. I brought my van to FIRESTONE. Thirty minutes after, my wheels were perfectly aligned - without any suggestions that my tires were bad.... PLEASE, GO SOMEWHERE ELSE.....These people are crooked, evil and stone-hearted..... read more

I took my little old Subaru in to Brake Check in Cedar Park to get my brakes looked at and to get the car fixed up for my daughter, who was getting ready to move away to another state. I shared with the staff my concerns about sending my daugher away in an older car, far away from her family, up to a snowy area. Not only did the caring people at this shop work to make my little old Subaru safe and road ready for a trip and the cold weather, but they worked hard to do the most necessary work that needed to be done and also, they gave me options that would help to save me money. The staff at this location were very kind, friendly and professional. After getting my older Subaru finished up, I had a change of heart and decided to shop for a newer Subaru Outback (yet still used) for my daughter. I shopped in Austin and looked at several other newer but used models of Subarus. The staff at Brake Check in Cedar Park gave me recommendations and offered to check over each car for me (at little or no charge) in order to help me acquire the best possible used car for my daughter. They really treated me like family and I appreciated it. They advised me of the repairs that needed to be done on each car as I shopped and of the things that I needed to look out for as I was shopping. Because of the help and sound guidance I received from the Manager and Mechanic at Brake Check in Cedar Park, I was able to purchase a newer Subaru for my daughter and, I got a good, sound deal. We were able to identify repairs (ahead of time) that needed to be done to that newer car before I bought it. Because of this, I negotiated a good deal with my used car seller and I was able to get all the needed repairs done on the newer car prior to buying it. In short, I got a MUCH, MUCH BETTER DEAL on the car purchase because of the advice from the folks at Brake Check of Cedar Park. I now tell everyone I know to take their cars to Brake Check of Cedar Park. I tell them to ask to speak to David or Garrett. They are the best! There are about 50 places closer to me in Austin but the cedar park location was so good the first time that I used them because I happened to be in the area that I am going to go out of my way to them every time I need service on vehicle. Today I pulled in for oil, alignment, and brake check...When I pulled in, they said "we don't do tires". I said " I am not here for that....he pointed at my front tire that was tore up and losing air fast. They sprang into action to get air in the tire, then ended up putting spare on for me and sent me to a tire shop. With a positive attitude, these guys went above and beyond to help me out. Rare find these days! The biggest reason why I recommend them is that they are straight shooters. They SHOW you what the issue is, not just tell you. They will also tell you if it can wait and not try to make everything sound "life and death" to up sell you. I would highly recommend this business to anyone! read more

Got my Civic brakes changed out last week and they did an awesome job! I love the fact that they don't mind you hanging out in the garage watchting them as they do the work and/or asking questions as they do the work to learn exactly what they're doing. They all have a great attitude and they do a good job. BTW, I took my Honda Pilot in about 6 months ago to get some brake work done and that job did not come out to good. I had to go back to get it checked out due to a noise I was hearing with the brakes. Without question they took my car back in they admitted that they had made a mistake on not changing out my rotors the first time around. They showed me their mistake and explained what they were going to do to fix it. They replaced the pads and rotors at no charge and sent me on my way. They were so forward in adimitting to their mistake, fixing it and had such a great and professional attitude. I had a great deal of respect for the way they handled the situation and felt that I could trust them working on my second car. You can't find this type of honesty and professional service at many mechanic shops. I've had my fair share of run ins with dishonest mechanics so it's nice to know I have these guys just down the street from me to help me out. read more

2 years ago whan i buy my car i buy it with some leaking prob that didnt bothererd my becus the driving was good but the engin light was always turn on so i couldnt pass inspaction. a few days a ago i got punished and get a ticket inspection so i decided to fix this problems that i have in my car and finsh with that.befor i buy or fix some stuf i like to do Comparisons between places.thay were must more chiper(at least 250$ less) than ather places that close by and there servise was excelent!!!especially jeff that in the front;thay also fix me a bunch of stuf that wasnt include and thay didnt chargh me an extra money. very honost place. defintly WILL come back read more
