This is a superior automotive repair business. I came here for a second opinion . The receptionist made us feel very welcome and comfortable, being very kind and easy to talk to. My auto dealer quoted me $7K for a major repair to my 2007 Nissan 5-speed truck. Austin's Automotive Specialists confirmed the problem identified and did a NATION-WIDE search to find me used parts to repair it. Nowhere in the nation are there parts to fix my truck. Due to my VIN, the specific rear end of my truck, the parts just aren't out aren't out there. They even checked junk yards and salvage yards. My only option are new Nissan parts which would result in a $7K repair. My sweet truck is worth maybe $700 Blue Book and has 265,000 miles. Sadly she's not worth repairing. Austin's Automotive Specialists went above and beyond to find a way to save her. That was amazing. I will use them in the future with my next vehicle.

My work truck was here from late Thursday, the 24th, until Tuesday morning, the 29th. On Friday the 25th, I received a call from Clay, who explained that he was unable to "get the key to turn in the ignition." I arrived at the shop later that afternoon and was informed that they could not "release the steering wheel lock." I walked out to my vehicle with Clay and was able to release the steering wheel lock and turn the key in seconds. Any "reputable" mechanic should know how to do this. My MAIN complaint with this shop is that my vehicle was left outside in the parking lot, with the window down and the key in the ignition, for multiple days. I checked in with Clay on Monday morning, the 28th, for an update--there was none. Clay assured me that, due to recent workers calling out on Saturday, they would take a look at my vehicle. I grabbed some work items and noticed that my window was down and the key was in the ignition. Since the shop had been closed the previous day, Sunday the 27th, I was slightly concerned that my window had been down all weekend. I did not receive an update on Monday, and with rain in the forecast for Monday evening and the following day, I decided to check on my vehicle as I was concerned it might get damaged. To my surprise, the window was still down with the key in the ignition. The guy who hangs up the keys must have called out sick again. I ended up jump-starting my own vehicle and rolling up the window. I worked on my vehicle for about 30 minutes, doing my best to secure it for the evening and ensure its safety. Anyone with basic knowledge or access to YouTube could have stolen my truck from their parking lot. Oh, and let's not forget that this is my work vehicle. I had a significant amount of tools, and other equipment available for anyone to take right out of my vehicle. I'm still taking inventory to ensure that nothing was stolen. I repaired my vehicle in their parking lot on Tuesday morning before driving home. I couldn't help but notice that there was plenty of space in their garage bay to keep my vehicle inside. This shows massive negligence and a lack of respect for my property, which is why I'm leaving a one-star review. The vehicle could have been pushed into the bay--I know because I pushed it myself before getting it towed to the shop. If I owe anything for the 5.5-day stay, let me know, and we can deduct it from the cost of the new battery I just bought, which was showing a bad cell. Battery purchased on 8/24. I would highly recommend this shop if you need your muffler bearings adjusted or your seat belt timing fine-tuned. **Edit** Turns out my alternator failed, not a battery issue. It's so strange how my initial shift-linkage problem caused my alternator to fail.

They determined that a rodent had eaten part of the hose! So they replaced the hose to the front washer and told me they didn't know where to route the hose to the back window washer. Kurt said it was working fine on the front window now, and I told him the back window could wait. When I got home, I popped the hood and noticed there was no washer fluid in the reservoir, so I poured the gallon of new fluid in. I went into the house to tell my wife I was home, and then came back out about 10 minutes later to discover almost all the new fluid was running out into my garage and down the driveway. I called Kurt and he said he couldn't understand how that was happening, but he would "get back with me" to arrange for an inspection. Move ahead 6 MONTHS LATER, still no call back from A&E. I try to email them through the web site they list on Yelp, and it says the web site no longer exists! I try to email him, and the email bounces back. So I place a request for service here on YELP again, and 3 or 4 other places answer, but not A&E. So my only thought is that they sold the place and it's under new management? I don't know, but they did NOT fix the problem, they never contacted me again as promised, and the did not respond to the request sent to them through YELP. I ended up fixing the problem myself for $8.00. The second line, that he did not fix and that he told me "would not matter if I don't want to use the rear window washer" had a big hole it as well. When I filled up the reservoir, the weight of the fluid in the full tank caused the water to start syphoning out through that hole in the tube - once it was low enough (i.e. almost empty), it would stop and there would be enough fluid left to wash the front windows several times. They were all very friendly the first time I visited and I thought we had a good working relationship, but it turns out they didn't want to fool with the car although they really did NOT fix my problem and I was never able to contact them again. I don't know what their problem is, but I cannot recommend them as a reliable automobile service.

But this was fluid service, (the nasty stuff) trans fluid flush and fill, brake fluid flush, rear differential drain and fill, + my AC wasn't cooling as well. I did my homework and gathered about 5 estimates for this service from local shops and Toyota dealerships. Prices were coming in anywhere from $1000 - $1500. I stopped in at Christian Brothers in Leander on Sonny Drive and spoke to Brandon. He text me a written quote, which came out about half of what the other shops were asking. They also give a "Veterans/First responders" discount. Their work was professional, and they communicated with me all the time. They sent a video of a free service inspection of my truck, pointing out any areas of concern. I think I've found my back up mechanic for anything I can't do or just don't want to. Thanks Brandon and the team at Christian Brothers in Leander. My truck drives straight and the AC works like new. Michael C. - Georgetown, Tx.

UPDATE to owners response (Check Photos):…read more I strongly dispute the claim that my vehicle had "years of neglect." I have documentation showing I received consistent oil changes and maintained the vehicle. If Christian Brothers is going to make that public statement, I am requesting that you provide the specific records, dates, inspection findings, and supporting documentation you are relying on to claim neglect. My concern remains the same: I paid for major repairs, the vehicle failed shortly after, and my concerns were not meaningfully investigated. I am not asking for assumptions -- I am asking for documentation, accountability, and a fair resolution. The central issue is the timing. I drove my vehicle without engine failure for months before bringing it to your shop. After relying on your diagnostics and authorizing nearly $4,000 in repairs, I picked the vehicle up and the engine failed within a day. Given that timeline, attributing the failure to "years of neglect" without supporting documentation is an overreaching conclusion that appears designed to shift blame rather than address my concerns. I repeatedly informed the shop that I was preparing for a long trip and wanted everything thoroughly checked before approving repairs. I was told further diagnosis could not be completed until the turbo work was done. After the repairs, I was told the vehicle was good to go, which led me to believe all necessary inspections had been completed. The engine failed within a day of pickup, which is why I continue to question whether everything was properly diagnosed before the vehicle was returned to me. _____________________ My experience with Christian Brothers Automotive Leander has been extremely frustrating. I brought my Hyundai Tucson in for major repairs totaling nearly $4,000. Before authorizing the work, I specifically asked that the vehicle be thoroughly diagnosed and that any known issues or potential issues be identified so I could make informed decisions. Shortly after the repairs were completed, the vehicle developed severe engine knocking and became inoperable. The timing alone was alarming. I expected the shop to take my concerns seriously and work collaboratively toward answers. Instead, I was largely left to manage the situation myself while dealing with towing expenses, rental costs, missed work concerns, and the stress of being stranded with my child. The biggest issue for me has been customer service after the failure occurred. Communication became difficult, and I felt that my concerns were dismissed rather than investigated

While I didn't have a code yet, I suspected that it was a possibility. Anyway, Aplus took the time to do a full 22 point inspection and test drive. They actually got a code. Their solution was to 1) do a fluid change but cautioned it could make things worse and likely would not fix the issue. 2) offered a $595 break down to tear transmission down to give an estimate. And if I didn't like that estimate they would put it all back together. Considering this truck has 170k miles and is a 2004, i was hesitant spending that $. I worked with Jackson to get a high level estimate. He was confident it could be rebuilt for $3200 or below and worked a deal to honor that price. Anyway, they ended up giving me a bit of a discount to meet that price for the rebuild. Time will tell one the transmission, but I suspect it will outlive the engine. Only time will tell. It does come with a warranty but I don't drive that truck a lot so we shall see. Communication was great. And so far, works seems legit. Did I make a smart decision to spend that kind of money on an old truck? Probably not, but decide that path because I bought it new.

I bring up that brake issue because it eventually became a pattern of dropping the ball, and repeated issues 1. My car had to be towed because basic logic well known issue for GMC/Chevy 6.2 liter V8 engines have a lifter issue which requires engine replacement. The car wasn't in bad shape as you say. Cadillac dealership said I should have it towed due to the knocking sound. My car has always been kept immaculate. Yes you quoted a fair price, it was Lambs in Lakeway that was ridiculous and most people know they are. The engine took long because they sent the wrong engine and in regards to my finances it wasn't I couldn't pay . I was at the mercy of you and I was nothing but polite every single interaction with you. Your dropped the ball so many times and you actually asked me for advance payment at one point because you needed to pay your taxes . I didn't want to pay you UPFRONT Frank. You fix then pay, that's most every way it's done . You didn't have the money to cover costs which is a concern regarding running a business. I had also just spent money on another car repair and boat repairs . The car sat as I decided what I wanted to do. As far as stating you could have charged me storage you never once mentioned that and I have every phone call that proves that. Pretty shady of you to pull that out on your reply here. Again not on single time did you ever mention storage fees. So please don't act as if it was some favor you did. The car went in for an engine replacement. As you confirmed the day you put the engine in to test drive you call me telling me I need steering column replacement. Yes I have you on recording Frank stating that indeed the lift and big tires were the culprit. The steering was completely fine and it had not been driven once per you as we waited for the engine issue and replacement to be resolved. You now understand why I recorded you. You can't remember what you told me. I didn't struggle to pay you. I had a boat in repair and another car a Range Rover in repair. I communicated to you very professionally. By the way let's remember you had me pay up front on everything. It was the engine that was ordered that was delayed. 2. Regarding the transmission line. Let the public see this post. I pick up my car from Frank and I make it about a quarter to half a mile or so down road and what becomes the problem is the transmission line. Frank I have that call to you recorded as well and your claim that I accelerated or false and blew the line is total BS. It had nothing to do with big tires. I'm saving all my facts, statements from GM certified techs , and video of your guy coming over to "fix" it. Within a day or 2 it went out again and I made you tow it for free. It was your guy that you sent and had him do what he did and sent me on my way and that all was fine only to have it sent back to you. By the way on our recorded call you tried to lead me to believe with certainty it was one thing when in fact you were wrong and called me with another reason. Again grateful I recorded both those conversations. The reputable mechanics I discussed were my brothers out of Houston. My brother owns a professional garage and luxury and collector car biz for 22 years. The other reputable people was a connection I had out of A Cadillac dealer in Dallas. I mentioned this to you and so logically my car stayed locally with you. 3. The whole issue about you spending 200 for the detail I will just say to anyone reading this look at the pics of my Escalade left in his care. Never should have happened Frank. By the way I took a time stamp video of my car before it went back to you. I didn't spill the oil. That's a regular engine oil. Why would I need engine oil to leave in my backseat after you just repaired and did an engine replacement. Again shady of you to blame that on me. And by the way I had to waste 3 hours of my work day sitting there waiting on a detail. Completely unprofessional. 4. I asked you you fix my windshield wiper motor while you had it. You never did. I kept asking you very time you had the car and I have your texts alone that show you forgot several times. same thing Frank regarding the transmission thermostat. I asked you several times, you came out to fix my running board and forgot to get the transmission thermostat and windshield motor. Again pretty crazy you fixed my transmission yet our texts show you dropping the ball on the thermostat. I have lost count on the amount of texts I have that show you never show up on time. I'm done with my response. I'll update this post after claims court.
