The restaurant has a pretty good variety of dishes, and it was hard to choose because several sounded so good. We started with the poutine, which had fried cheese curds on top. It was really yummy! We each tried a different sandwich or burger, and each satisfied our cravings. This place is worth a visit if you are in the area!

This is definitely more of a hole-in-the-wall local spot -- not fancy at all -- but the food was really good and such a nice break from the expensive resort-area restaurants. My husband ordered the fish and chips. It wasn't a super traditional fish and chips because the batter was a little different than expected, but the fish itself was delicious. In fact, it was good enough that he brought the leftovers home and finished them the next day. We also tried the coconut shrimp appetizer. Again, not your typical coconut shrimp presentation, but very tasty. I ordered a club sandwich, which actually wasn't on the current menu anymore but had been on the old menu. They were happy to accommodate the request, which I really appreciated. One daughter got the handmade gnocchi with shrimp and absolutely loved it, and my other daughter ordered the sloppy joes and cleaned her plate. And if you love sweet tea like we do... just know their sweet tea is SWEET. Overall, definitely worth leaving Kiawah Island for good, reasonably priced food in a relaxed local spot.

From the moment we walked in, we were greeted so warmly. We accidentally forgot to update our reservation from 6 to 7, and the staff was incredibly patient and kind while waiting for a table that could accommodate our group. They made us feel so comfortable and even let us enjoy a drink in the waiting area while everything was sorted out. No stress at all. Once seated, our server was fantastic. Every single person we interacted with was friendly, attentive, and more than happy to give recommendations, which was much needed because everything sounded amazing. They even played along with our Christmas party raffle games, which made the night extra fun. Such a cool, welcoming vibe. For appetizers, we shared the lemon ricotta dip, the Dippin' Shrimp, the spinach artichoke dip, and a spicy Caesar salad. Everything was absolutely delicious. For my main course, I ordered the pecan-crusted chicken with a side of Brussels sprouts, and wow. Phenomenal. Huge portions, incredible flavor, and we were all stuffed by the end. Amazing service, amazing food, and an overall great experience. I cannot wait to come back again. This is officially a go-to spot for celebrations.

The James doesn't stick out and I had driven by it hundreds of times since moving to the area. Parking was easy in the back lot and I was surprised to see just how packed it became by the time we left. Upon entering the staff was very nice and happy to see us. We got a table and got our menus. The cocktail menu looked exciting but we decided to skip drinks in lieu of dessert. For dinner my wife ordered the pecan fried chicken and I ordered the prime rib melt. The toasted cherry sauce was creamy and very tasty. I found the prime rib melt good. It unfortunately was a bit bland overall with the au jus being a bit too watered down. Overall though I think the food was good. For dessert we had a creme brûlée that was top notch. I'm glad we got that instead of drinks. Our server and the other service staff were attentive and quick. I drank a lot of water and didn't have to wait long for a refill. I wouldn't hesitate to come back and explore some other dishes.

Style inside is an eclectic mixed of different styles. We started with the fried pickles which I usually like but these were t quite to my taste. Just a personal preference thing, I feel like the pickles inside were more of a deli style pickle than an off the shelf super briny dill? But still good. I had the Getting Smash Burger which I really enjoyed, and the burger sauce (I think just ketchup and mayo) fit perfectly. My kids loved their burgers and fries. My onion rings were the big chunky kind which I like. We all left room for dessert and I am glad I did. The donut ice cream that my daughter had looked super unique. My pecan pie was the first time I've had in a long time that didn't just taste like corn syrup and fake vanilla flavor. Really nice place! J.Ja
