They have a take-out menu or option to dine-in. As soon as we sat down, they brought homemade chips and salsa which I enjoyed but not too much to fill up before the meal. For drinks they are serve margaritas, beers, teas..I tried the agua fresca hibiscus and my fiancé tried the horchata, both delicious! The menu is simple but packs lots of flavors and proteins. I constantly seek out elote so you know I had to order theirs! I like that they roasted the corn, provided a more robust flavor and the cheese topping I could dip anything with that..was about to lick the plate but stopped myself haha my fiancé got 3 variations of tacos, the flavors were good. They brought out some bottles salsa verde and another kind of hot sauce salsa. I liked their options for tamales, I got mole chicken and another kind of chicken..they're more filling than they look so left with our belly's full and spirits lifted. Tierra Caliente will be on our rotation now, wonderful staff and good food.

As I continued to drive past I saw their sign got removed & then another restaurant was coming soon. But one day while at Montreux I looked over & noticed the once empty bldg now said Madre's! I shared the pulled chicken nachos with my boyfriend which were but I wish there were more chips. We ran out of chips before the toppings were gone. But it was really good!! I got the skinny marg & my boyfriend got the house marg. I'm loving the outdoor space and dj they seem to have on the weekends (unsure about week days). I hope Madre's is a Summerville staple that passes the test of time because the food is still good & service still remains as good as ever!

She did a good job. The food was expensive. We've never paid $10 for queso, which was overly thick and barely warm. The interior smelled strongly of mold so we asked to sit outside. There was no ambience. The ambience inside was also terrible, no decor at all. The music was unpleasant too. No rap please. The enchilada sauce was very strong tasting mole. The cinnamon and clove was overpowering. The chile relleno was small and the sauce tasted more like marinara sauce. The child's quesadilla was not warm enough and the cheese was like mozzarella. The rice, beans, and chips were good though. The margarita had way too much mix that was too sweet. For three of us the bill was $90, with only one drink. There are many other choices of local Mexican restaurants that are very good. Next time we'll return to El Jalapeno, Villa Cantina, or El Patron, all of which are reliably very good, with pleasant atmosphere.

Inside it is well decorated and clean. It reminds me of the standard Mexican restaurants that I grew up going to. My husband and I shared a couple of plates -- the enchiladas verdes and Texas fajitas, with a side of guacamole and one chile relleno. We also received complimentary chips and salsa. I loved the salsa. It had much more flavor and spice to it than typical Mexican restaurants, without being overly spicy. The guac was pretty plain in my opinion. My husband enjoyed it, saying that a good guacamole doesn't need a lot in it. To me, it seemed to have a brownish hue like it had been sitting out for a bit. Flavor was okay. I just wanted a bit more. The Texas Fajitas were a good size. The same guac was on side plate. Chicken, shrimp and steak had good flavor and seasoning and had a generous portion. The refried beans were not great (my husband thought they tasted like ketchup) and the rice, to me, tasted like instant ramen. I still ate them though! The enchiladas verdes were very good. I like that their sauce had a little bit of kick to it and wasn't bland like a lot of places. Their chicken was also well seasoned. I feel like the meat in enchiladas is often bland, but both the chicken and ground beef were delicious. Lastly, the chile relleno was delicious. It was a bit on the smaller side and I believe it had beans in it, which I wasn't expecting. But I thought it added flavor to it and I liked it. All in all we will come back. It was worth it for the price, good service, and fun atmosphere!
